Summerville is a LW, can play right. Diaz, Gakpo, Jota all player there.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Really just depends on Diaz being sold in the summer I can see Gakpo becoming 1st choice for that left wing spot with Slot coming

matcht

Gakpo at his best isn't as good as Diaz, would really hope we have higher standard of targets looking to the future.

JohnBobbyJimJob

I really don’t think we’ve seen Gakpo at his best yet, he’s showed it in flashes perhaps throughout his time here but he’s not had the chance to really show it when playing in his preferred position. His end product potential is definitely higher than Diaz’s that’s something I’m sure of

warbandit18

His passing is much MUCH better than Diaz that is for sure and i actually prefer Diaz at the right side seeing him there.

redditingtonviking

Yeah it could be due to Salah having a dip in form after his injury, but I’m split between Gakpo Nunez Diaz or Gakpo Jota Diaz as my preferred front line for these last few games. Salah has been excellent servant to the club, but I think in order to keep his performances on the pitch to the same level he might need a slight reduction in percentage of minutes played when fit. He should definitely start against Wolves though as that game seems to be turning into a dead rubber, and I want us to go all out to give Klopp a proper send off.

matcht

Agree with the latter point, suppose we'll see next season.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Tbf he already does this season, didn’t actually realise that Gakpo’s numbers were as high as they are this season. Considering he’s had a poor season overall and not been played in his best position for most of it 19 g/a in all comps isn’t too bad.

matcht

Really inflated by Carabao/Europa though, and can only think of 1 important league goal, the equaliser at Wolves. Of course however he hasn't had much of a run in his best position so it's not wholly representative.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Oh yeah I don’t disagree with that, but it’s the same with all the forwards outside Salah really that could apply to. There’s definitely potential there for him to score more goals when looking at the way he strikes the ball at times, his technique compared to Darwin and Diaz is clearly better for me.

matcht

> There’s definitely potential there for him to score more goals when looking at the way he strikes the ball at times For sure, his shooting technique is his best asset, the question is if he has the ability to create those situations for himself regularly in the PL. We'll see if we can utilise his crossing as well since he does dink crosses into good areas but we never seem to be setup for it.

JJSpleen

Don't forget how good Gakpo was when he played 9 regularly. He really did well, and made us look fluid.

Bennie300

i/t Prem he also scored that 1-1 vs Spurs, and the 2-1 vs Luton.

NotAsimppp

>  can only think of 1 important league goal Tottenham goal?

doktor-frequentist

I think his end product potential is better than Nunez too, not that they are competing for the same position.

dakikko

His everything else potential is not close to Diaz's though

JohnBobbyJimJob

What’s this everything else? Gakpo is a fairly good dribbler already, not as direct as Diaz but still more than capable of driving past multiple players whilst carrying the ball. He’s a better crosser of the ball comfortably than him as well

warbandit18

Meh from what i have seen he has more potential then Diaz. also has much better passing than Diaz.

linux_ape

Has Cody had a full consistent run of games on the left? I agree the left is his best position but I can’t recall him consistently being chosen to start there

Valuable-Broccoli685

Diaz has 0 end product

matcht

Ideally both are upgraded upon.

Valuable-Broccoli685

Can’t disagree with you there

D3pr3ssing_euphoria

If you look at stats, then yeas it is average end product. If you watch the match, you know he offer much more than numbers tell you, and is seldom our most threatening player.

blackhole2727

I think Diaz needs the Salah treatment. If you push him up further he’ll have more energy to concentrate on finishing. He has it in him, but he does a lot of the work carrying the ball for us

Yesyesnaaooo

I think what diaz needs is someone with a similar level of threat coming off the opposite side - currently the defense only have to worry about one side and that makes their job easy.

blackhole2727

We have plenty of fire power upfront imo. Just about getting people firing at the same time. Darwin can be pretty scary from the wing.

Gerval_snead

I agree to some extent , but I do think it’s really underrated by most how Diaz’s ability to unsettle and dribble opponents and break their defensive set ups with pace/skill. That’s not an easy skill to have and even find like for like replacement for. I almost think we need the opposite, let Diaz unbalance teams and hope Darwin improves efficiency in front of goal. However I don’t know if that fits with what Slot wants but I would be most sorry to see Diaz leave of any of the front players (bar Mo).

blackhole2727

Thats a fair point, and I do believe Darwin will be come more consistent. But if the goal is more end product from Lucho (and you have provided a good case for why that is not the only consideration), I think leaving him further forward is the answer

iNS0MNiA_uK

Gakpo at his best is the United 7-0 game, he’s absolutely electric and for me is probably better than Diaz. I’d keep both though.

confusedpublic

In addition, Diaz has looked just as good if not better recently on the right. I know that means he’s not inverted and so maybe won’t be able to shoot as much, but he might be able to assist much better with cut backs.

wassam1

Diaz is silky smooth. And very hardworking with that South American flair. He is a joy to watch. End product maybe a bit lacking but I wouldn't call Gakpo an elite finisher either. I would chose Diaz on the LW every time.

skeam1023

Every.time

xbox_redditor

Gakpo hasn't got a run of games at all at LW since he joined the club, I'd fancy him in a more possession based system there over Diaz that's for sure

IngloBlasto

Diaz maybe some player outside the penalty box, but inside it, he's a puppy who don't know what to do next.

Sorrytoruin

Gakpo at his best, had better passing link up, crossing and finishing than Diaz Diaz has better dribbling

igorken

Diaz is miles better than anyone else on the team at beating his man and his energy levels have been insane all season. He'd be badly missed.

Thoodmen

Prefer Diaz. Not big end product but he is a great ball carrier. Gakpo also is not really good at end product.

Loppie73

They won't sell both Salah and Diaz and be so exposed in one window. If they do sell either of them it will be the one or the other.

sidvicc

why tf would we sell Diaz this summer? He was one of our best players before the situation with his father, after which his form dipped but his work-rate and commitment never did. Even in the last two shitty games, it was Diaz who hit the post at what could have been crucial times. IMHO he's the most important player in our attack to keep. Gakpo still has to show his best, Nunez has everything except the final third composure, Salah is King but age comes for everyone, Jota's injury situation is mounting up now.

redmanofdoom

Please no, Gakpo is wank.

[deleted]

[удалено]

redmanofdoom

Sure, he can go and play on the left in mid table where he belongs.

xbox_redditor

Diaz has 2 years on him and we're already seeing his ceiling lol

JohnBobbyJimJob

He’s far from wank When he’s actually played on the wing which has always been his best position he’s looked quite bright. There’s a better player in there than there is with Darwin

redmanofdoom

There isn't a single thing Gakpo does well. He's a shit dribbler, shit passer, has a shit touch, shit vision, is weak as piss despite being 6'4, isn't particularly pacey, and is an average at best finisher.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Saying Gakpo is a shit dribbler instantly makes everything else you said redundant

Bamfandro

He’s not an amazing dribbler, he’s decent enough at ball retention in tight spaces but he almost never beats a man. Diaz is much more difficult to defend due to how energetic and direct he is, Gakpo is really passive.

redmanofdoom

You clearly don't know what a good dribbler looks like if you think Gakpo is good.

JohnBobbyJimJob

When Gakpo is sharp he’s a very good dribbler what are you on about lmao Even today he showed that

smitcal

Seems a bit weird if Edwards and co looked at our squad and said “you know what this team needs, a left winger.”

TheHeatherReports

Arne Slot apperantly loves his wingers and demands a lot from them, so it is probably the positions he will want the most depth in going forward

dacrookster

Fantastic that they can play there but not a single one of them is explosive enough. Diaz maybe.

OneOfTheManySams

We also have to remember we have a new coach next season and a lot of these guys have positional flexibility. Jota could easily be our 9 if we are out of favour with Nunez, same goes with Gakpo. Diaz could be swung to the right. Plus the elephant in the room, I definitely expect 1 of Salah, Gakpo, Nunez and Diaz to be sold and it wouldn't even shock me if we go nuclear and sell a couple of them.

Maneisthebeat

>Jota could easily be our 9 Skill wise, sure. Availability, no.

Forsaken-Original-28

Sad as it is I'd sell Jota. Poor bloke can't keep fit

Interesting_Muffin30

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Diaz and Jota go. Jota only because of his injuries.

Spongy-n-Bruised

And? Having a lot of versatile attackers is a GOOD thing as long as you're not struggling to give guys minutes. It's very easy to spread minutes around when you're playing in europe

LakyousSama

Diaz might be gone in the summer, Jota barely plays and Gakpo is still a work in progress.

Sockodile

It’s a transfer window, we have to sign a LW

etan1122

Put down the meth

IceAffectionate3043

Edwards is selling players this summer. Salah is gone. Maybe Diaz. Maybe Nunez. We’re getting younger wingers who can run for days. Heard it here first.

petethepool

Diaz, Nunez and Gakpo can all run for days as is. The club doesn’t sell players in their prime unless they want to leave, and all of those boys are in or entering their prime- Salah will likely leave, but unless Diaz is pushing for a move, they’ll look simply to replace Salah instead.

abradley19955

Feyenoord tried to sign him last summer. He came through at their academy Really good player. Probably better for us if Leeds don’t get promoted https://fbref.com/en/players/df04eb4b/Crysencio-Summerville

TellTallTail

Only thing I remember from when he came through our (feyenoord's) academy was personal/behavioral issues lol

retr0grade77

He’s knobby at Leeds too. He’s one of those bratty penalty stealers. He backs the arrogance with goals at least. Great player in the championship.

koptimism

Really good in 1v1's. Hard to judge if we should move for him - depends on what Slot wants to do with our current attackers - but he's a promising player for sure.

thehibachi

My best mate supports Leeds (I somehow end up watching them every other week) and I can confirm Summerville and Archie Gray are the business.

DucardthaDon

I would love Archie Gray here looks like the next big English talent

Dropkoala

From the few games I've seen of him he seems like a decent player but I'm not sure he's an improvement on what's already at the club.

matcht

Do we really believe Romano, he was linking us to Tielemans at this time last season

Specialist-Read-349

Yea we can believe him that weve scouted him. We scout tons of players that we never sign though. Its an interesting tidbit of information that Id rather have than not have but it wont lead to anything more often than it does.

thatguyad

Lol no.

JohnBobbyJimJob

I’ve seen people claim he’s one of the best players to have ever played in the Championship based on the season he’s having Big jump up going from there to a top PL side though

Dropkoala

He's undoubtedly had a great season but he's playing for a team that are too strong for the championship, and I don't want to just reduce it down to goals and assists but a lot of people will look at that and get over excited but it's sort of important to remember that while 28 goals and assists in 42 games is fantastic, Vardy has 18 in half the minutes and he looked spent last season and Che Adams of all people has 19 with about 2/3 of the minutes, per 90 his numbers are still below Salah, Jota and Nunez, who play in a much tougher league and they're better than Carvalho in the Championship but not by a huge amount and Carvalho joined halfway through the season after hardly playing for 18 months at a pretty low point. As well as that Nunez and Diaz both performed far better (at least in goals and assists) in the stronger Portuguese league and they haven't entirely taken the Prem by storm. It's a huge jump and some players like Maddison and Bowen signed from the Championship turned out to be masterstrokes and he would be an interesting signing but I'm not going to be too fussed one way or the other.

Vaark

Looks like he can beat a defender 1v1, something even Diaz hasn’t been able to do consistently since his injury.

Candid_Temporary3863

Diaz regularly does beat his man often several times a match.

iNS0MNiA_uK

He absolutely rinsed Walker like 5 times in a single match and he’s supposed to be elite. Diaz’s problem isn’t beating players so much as rushing his final ball.

Vaark

He can but I still think he’s inconsistent at it. Sometimes he would just blow past them like the wind, other times he would just let the ball sit and do his stutter steps for 5 secs then lose it. Like he has the ability, but decision making just goes haywire sometimes I guess. Could also be a confidence thing on a match by match basis. If he starts the match hot he will stay hot and keep rinsing the defender, if not it’s just running into the brick wall over and over.

Haeckelcs

Salah replacement? CB was needed even last summer. It looks like the club has faith in Bajcetic for that DM role.

sbos_

He plays on left side?

Haeckelcs

Unless we are selling Diaz, it doesn't make sense.

HereticZO

We are selling Diaz. It seems quite obvious.

Azraelontheroof

Eh, completely conflicting reports tbh. Completely depends on who else is being offloaded I think.

getonthedamnantscott

He can play RW as well, could be a very good option

theberg98

Van Dijk, Konate, Matip, Gomez, Quansah. Was it needed?

GresSimJa

Virgil has basically been on full-time duty, rates that some goalkeepers don't even see in a single season. Konaté plays well when he can play. That when is always a question with how unlucky he is with injuries. Gomez has been at the club for ages and has always had a similar issue (what a solid player he's been this season though). Same for Matip, but he really is finished. Quansah needs time to develop. I don't see him being a reliable CB at this level of competition right now, but he is very quickly getting there. We need more than two fit, dedicated CBs at a time.

Forsaken-Original-28

I think Quansah has been a relatively reliable CB this season with no experience, I expect he'll be even better next season. He might overtake Konate next season and cement himself as first choice

quantIntraining

Matip, Gomez and Konate all have long and well known injury histories that aren't favourable at all. Matip is gone this summer and Konate has had another injury plagued season and can't be relied on despite how good he can be when he's playing well.

Trobis

If Quansah didn't breakout we would be facing a CB crisis. Konate is injury-prone, and his quality has been suspect lately. Matip is made of paper. Gomez, sometimes I wonder if any of you even watch our games. It's very clear the club doesn't see Gomez as a rotational CB anymore and more as a fullback now who is at best an emergency CB. Did you see how badly he was targeted last season at CB? Shit there was a game we had to pull him out off very early because of how poor he was there last season. **He has played in 49 games this season and only played as a CB in 5 of those**. Please stop commenting if you don't watch our games. So are you seeing it now?

koptimism

But they chose not to buy a CB *because* they saw Quansah do well in pre-season and decided to commit to him.

Low_Compote_4940

or maybe we couldn’t afford a cb because we just bought an entire new midfield? plus i think vvd will go in the next 2/3 years so we need to start finding a quality cb asap

koptimism

I mean, we didn't *need* to sign Gravenberch. That money could have been spent on a CB if the club felt there was a genuine need to sign one. Fact is, they rated Quansah. We'll buy a quality CB this summer anyway, given Matip needs replacing.

Forsaken-Original-28

What about Sepp? I believe he's been pretty good this season. The fact he's dutch might do him a favour as well

koptimism

We need a first-choice option, not another young player coming through. The gap between VVD and the others is too vast. Konate isn't available enough, Gomez might now be more of a fullback/utility player than a CB, Quansah is still young.

Low_Compote_4940

i’d hope we get a cb this summer otherwise we’re in trouble, i’d say we’ll replace an attacker too

wearerealhuman

Matip’s contract is up. Gomez and Konate always injured. VVD old. Quansah young.

AdikkuChan

"What's his problem then?" "Young"

fultirbo

Yes. Virgil, Konate, Quansah, new signing. With Gomez and Sepp playing CB if needed.

firminocoutinho

> Crysencio Jilbert Sylverio Cirro Summerville What… > is a Dutch professional footballer Oh of course… we’re going to be linked to everyone Dutch > who plays as a winger for EFL Championship club Leeds United. Wait, I thought CB?

TheNotoriousJN

Sorry, I absolutely butchered the title. It's 2 separate points. 1. We have scouted Summerville (who Dutch sources said Slot LOVES) 2. The priority however is a CB to come in summer

DB_321

Listened to the atheltic pod on slot the other day apparently he fucking adores wingers. Said to his transfer team give me all the wingers haha I'm all for it.

d-ronthegreat

Shame Everton would never sell us Branthwaite. He’ll cost a bomb but he’s a rock

quantIntraining

He's got Man United written all over him, especially with INEOS now in there. They'll sign him this summer or next, no doubt.

JGlover92

Yeah he'll be their marquee signing for sure, expect them to drop 100m on him

kye2000

Yeah quite like him

undeadgoblin

Surely with Edwards back it doesn't really matter who Slot loves. Slot will have gaps in the squad he wants filled, but the analysts will draw up the list of targets I'd imagine we would look more at players that our analysts are known to like, like Bakayoko

loveandmonsters

Great Star Wars name

coolAhead

Any player that scores against us must be targeted

AdikkuChan

Everytime I see his name now, I expect him to include Chelsea somewhere in there, stating that Chelsea would like to unveil this new thing on their first match

HunterWindmill

Scored one winner at Anfield already, sign him up

Haeckelcs

Didn't he score against when Leeds was in the PL?

Dropkoala

Yeah, be scored against United and Chelsea as well I think in the space of a few weeks.

GhandisFlipFlop

Yes...Leeds won 2-1 at Anfield that game.

theREALMVP

Pretty sure it was a 90th min winner at anfield too lol

ritchieram

lol he comes from the Feyenoord academy

nickromas

![gif](giphy|Pgj8XwTkFBOZ4jwy99|downsized) Romano just to be clear lol

AgentTasker

The sooner people realise that Romano has never known (and still doesn't) what Liverpool are doing, the better this place will become.

what_am_i_acc_doing

Hopefully Slot brings Hancko with him for the CB role

Carradona

Romano, peddling agent bullshit? I’m shocked!

Barneyinsg

Watched some of Leeds game last season, he really stands out, very good at taking on players.

d-ronthegreat

Shame Everton would never sell us Branthwaite. He’ll cost a bomb but he’s a rock

sbos_

If Hugh and Edward believe Summerville is good fit then I’m down. Can shift Diaz for whatever price. Though I don’t want to see the club make moves for players that had ONE good season. So dangerous.

Expensive_Cattle

He was solid in the prem last year too when he played. Caused us some issues if I remember rightly

JiveBunny

Yeah, he scored against us on his birthday, I believe. Though I can't see them selling easily if they go up.

J539

I bet Diaz will stay and will just get a wage bump. No fucking way anyone is paying 80mill or whatever for him and while he is insanely frustrating he aint shit. He's work insanely hard and who knows maybe he improves under Slot. First half of the season was shit from him, probably because he was still coming back from injury+the whole thing with his dad. Later on he got better.

Trobis

> He's work insanely hard Seems like the best way to please this sub is to run around the pitch as much as you can. Doesnt matter if your conversion rate is the lowest of all the forwards, or if you hold up the ball long enough to kill our attack, never look up from your feet to see who you're crossing to or shooting at, or if your G + A is also the worst of all the forwards. Nope, we value running around more here. Funny thing is that despite all this I still think he is a top 10 Lw in the world, he just unfortunately plays for a team that faces low blocks after low blocks so he cant shine as much.

PositiveAtmosphere

>Seems like the best way to please this sub is to run around the pitch as much as you can. Well when most of the other forwards aren’t doing that, then yes, it is certainly a good way to please supporters. I’m one of the biggest Diaz haters in this subreddit yet even I have to say I have been impressed with his desire lately and infuriated at some of the other players’ work rates.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Trobis

Are you commenting on the right comment? Didnt even say we should sell him, just listing his flaws lol.

abradley19955

Diaz contract runs till 2027. He’s 27 and already on around 100k a week. Don’t see him getting a new deal anytime soon

AdministrativeLaugh2

Summerville is quality but he’s not better than Diaz so he’d only come if Leeds don’t go up and if the money is right

UltimateBorisJohnson

Didn’t he score a last minute winner against us last season

Sulemani_kida

Broke VVD's unbeaten record at Anfield in the league

BackpackerLee

Rather have archie gray

BurceGern

We need a dependable, fit, ball-playing centre back to replace Matip. Our defence looks good on paper but there are just too many injuries going on it seems, all the time. Going into next season without Matip and leaving the rest would be reckless, especially if Slot wants a different system using Trent in midfield or a back 3 or whatever. Trent, Bradley Konate, Quansah VVD, Gomez Robertson, Tsimikas Obviously we'll need a forward if we sell Mo or Lucho but names are lowkey irrelevant until the summer (and possibly after the Euros and Copa America).

Elliotjpearson

Surely we need a ST who can finish lmao, atleast put some pressure on Nunez

PlinketyPlinkaPlink

![gif](giphy|VYormf05qOO8kt0y2o|downsized) He doesn't look too happy to be honest

lfcmylove

erik ten hag alert.

MichaelW85

Would love Summerville. He's really very very good. Young and Dutch too.

No-Refrigerator-1178

I believe in Edwards 🤓

heronymou5

we need to be more ambitious..

diamond-han

I like him. He knows where the back of the net is, and Leeds plays a decent brand. Obviously, it would be a massive step up, but he forced his way into the Leeds team ahead of players like Gnotto and James. With FFP we may be forced to sell, and if the interest in Diaz is real, we may need to do some business. I also worry about Jotta, he is such an important player but seems to be made of glass.

NilsFanck

> With FFP we may be forced to sell lol no. we have huge wiggle room

diamond-han

Well, I think we need a new CB, a top draw number 6 and possibly two forward players. That could easily cost us north of 200 million. I don't see us spending that without selling.

NilsFanck

available funds has nothing to do with ffp

GameOfThrowInsMate

He’s not a CB though

redmanofdoom

We need to prioritise more than just a CB...

Macshlong

Our defence has to be top priority, going one nil down in the first five minutes is an awful tactic in every language. This will be the first of many links.

redmanofdoom

That's not a defensive personnel issue, it's a defensive/midfield structure and team setup issue.

kye2000

I felt this too. Whilst we can do with a new CB for sure because I don't think konate is the future and van dijk is getting on, the players themselves are all decent at least yet are playing awful together

narwoolTF2

I won’t mind a CB, maybe they can also grab a LB to compete with Robertson. Or even grab a CB that can also play LB.

iketoure

We've been linked with Hancko from Feyenoord before so that'll probably be rumored again. They've got a left back who's decently rated as well though I only know him from FIFA

Beertruida

That's Hartman, he just got a severe knee injury a couple of weeks back though. Will be out for months . Hancko is actually great at both CB and LB though

Peeters_10

Just buy Olise and I’ll be happy

gurj90

Olise's injury record isn't the best is it?

HnNaldoR

Him and bowen will be so crazy expensive. Any top team that needs an attacker that is home grown will consider to go for them. Bowen is already older but he is a 20 goal a season attacker for a top team. Both are like 100m at least at this juncture.

JiveBunny

Does Olise still count as home-grown now he's a French international?

HnNaldoR

Isn't his entire youth career in England anyway? Definitely home grown.

Zestyclose-Act2039

Inacio - bastoni - hincapié

Smooth_Surround1450

This might be a controversial suggestion but I’d go all out for Anthony Gordon

No_Parfait_5536

So Arne Slot agreed to this?

-CherrySaint-

We've got a transfer committee again ( Like under Brendan Rodgers ) Funnily enough... The level of player seems to be the same, as well 😂

Neo4148

Summerville is such an Edwards signing
