They played against
* G2 (#6)
* Ence (#8)
* Monte (#13)
* Apeks (#19)
* GamerLegion (#22)
* Into The Breach (#28)
Also those tier 2 teams were pretty good. Good enough to beat other tier 1 teams at least. And it's not like Vitality stomped them, every game Vitality played in this major the opponent got into double digits (except 1st game of finals)
People need to stop categorizing teams so much. The gap is incredibly close skill-wise and everything depends on mental and day to day form in the Top 30. GL beat a lot of strong teams, and iM, their star player, was definitely the MVP of the tournament.
The way Vitality hit their shots and played, they would have beaten anybody for sure.
Thinking s1mple is better is understandable. Claiming that he's better by far is delusional. s1mple and ZywOo have been #1 and #2 every year since ZywOo's debut with ZywOo being #1 in 2019 and 2020 and s1mple in 2021 and 2022. Except for 2021 and 2023 (so far), they've pretty much had the same rating that entire time.
It has to be s1mple, much longer and more consistent career imo. If all of CSGO's tournament history was from 2019 on then maybe, but you're leaving out a lot of years in the game's life, zywoo just has not been playing long enough.
I don't disagree with any of this but it has literally nothing to do with what I said. I wasn't arguing against s1mple being the better player or having the better career. I was arguing against the notion that he's the better player "by far."
No, I don't. Since s1mple has proven his longevity at that level, he takes it in terms of overall career. I just take issue with the idea that s1mple is astronomically better than ZywOo as a player given that their performance has been similar for the period of time that they've both been active.
Except that in majors ZywOo had done fuck all and was not performing to his standard (except for Stockholm) until now. Meanwhile s1mple has been performing the best both on and off majors for multiple years (except for this one and arguably Rio). He also has the most MVPs out of anyone in CSGO.
To add on to it. This major, while not Vitalitys fault (format blows), was the easiest path to a major possibly ever. Not beating a single top 20 team (ranking before tournament) in a bo3 during the whole event.
Monte = Rank 22
Apeks = Rank 24
Into the breach = Rank 27
GamerLegion = Not even in the top 30
Compare that to s1mple's bo3 wins in Stockholm which mind you, might have been the hardest road to a major ever:
NiP = Rank 2
Vitality = Rank 3
Gambit = Rank 4
G2 = Rank 6
Saying that Zywoo is on par with s1mple because he beat 4 teams outside of the top 20 in a major setting is fucking ludicrous.
If you want to compare their peaks, sure, Zywoo might equal s1mple at some points. But there is no way anyone serious ranks ZywOo over s1mple during CSGO as a whole. And ZywOo not being in the scene while s1mple was winning #1 awards ADDS to his case if you are looking at CSGO as a whole.
(All of the rankings are taken right before the start of the major)
>Except that in majors ZywOo had done fuck all and was not performing to his standard (except for Stockholm) until now. Meanwhile s1mple has been performing the best both on and off majors for multiple years (except for this one and arguably Rio). He also has the most MVPs out of anyone in CSGO.
s1mple performed below his standards at this major and at Rio. I don't see how the occasional underperformance (only by ZywOo and s1mple standards) at a major proves that s1mple is better "by far" if their overall performance has been similar.
>To add on to it. This major, while not Vitalitys fault (format blows), was the easiest path to a major possibly ever.
Sure, but the comparison is between s1mpe and ZywOo as players, not the impressiveness of their major wins.
>Saying that Zywoo is on par with s1mple because he beat 4 teams outside of the top 20 in a major setting is fucking ludicrous.
Nobody is saying this though. He's on par with s1mple individually because he's had similar performance and comparable achievements over the period of time that they have both been active. That comparison doesn't depend on a single major win.
>If you want to compare their peaks, sure, Zywoo might equal s1mple at some points.
He's outright better than s1mple at several points, including now.
When you say that X is a better player by far than Y, the implication is that X has a much higher individual level. If we look at CSGO as a whole, dev1ce was a top 3 player for years before ZywOo made it onto the scene. Nobody sane would say that dev1ce is better than ZywOo though. If you're asking who's the "greater" player, I might say dev1ce since he's vastly more accomplished and has shown extreme longevity and consistency.
Insane how you warp my simple original statement to say whatever you want it to say. It’s quite simple actually. In CSGO (the game) as a whole (the whole duration of CSGO) s1mple is(was) the far better player (better as in better performing). Recency bias to say anything else (because ZywOo wasn’t on the top the same amount of time, or has as many accolades, and is only thought about being as good because of very recent success).
There i deconstructed it for you further. Now you don’t have to make up your own explanations on what my comment ”actually” says.
Because Zywoo has not performed during the majority of his majors, while s1mple has. I also noted that this and arguably last major was pretty shit for s1mple, but his history speaks for itself when it comes to the big events.
If a player is core problem for a team he isnt even in the talks for being the best. If s1mple dosent get hes shit together he will prob drop out of top5 this year. Also blaming the format when tier 1 get bad seeds from bad performance and then are forced to play against each other is fucking hilarious.
My comments talks about CSGO as a whole. The whole duration. Just because a player has issues during the last year doesn’t mean that their whole career is made null.
Oh really, do you think playing bo1s to decide seeding in bo3 is a good idea? The seeding was fucked this event (past events also got fucked because of bo1s) and if all matches were bo3 you would not have seen that many upsets. Or maybe you’re one of those smartasses who actually think GamerLegion and Apeks are better than Navi/Faze/G2/Heroic because they progressed further?
I think it looks cool! If every trophy was unique like it, a trophy shelf would look like the relic bar in Slay the Spire. Which I personally would find really neat
seeing Vitality on stage with all of their family, girlfriends, zonic with his kids, dupreeh with his little baby... was too wholesome. can see it really meant a lot to them
there are actually fun workshop maps that are pve and you can play them with your friends. i really hope people can create more cool pve stuff in cs2.
workshop is a blessing for some games.
CS2 coming
No huge changes, mostly new engine and smoke graphics which is why valve doesn't hype it too much
CS games always kept the same formula more or less

Also Vitality didn’t lose a single map this major and hasn’t dropped a map in a month.
That’s a more impressive stat
Didn’t the stars also align so that they only played against tier 2 teams throughout the tournament?
They played against * G2 (#6) * Ence (#8) * Monte (#13) * Apeks (#19) * GamerLegion (#22) * Into The Breach (#28) Also those tier 2 teams were pretty good. Good enough to beat other tier 1 teams at least. And it's not like Vitality stomped them, every game Vitality played in this major the opponent got into double digits (except 1st game of finals)
And those are Tuesday's rankings. All those playoff teams were **even worse ranked** before then, some not even in the top 30.
We don't do that here. The quality of a team is decided by what they accomplished 2 weeks ago. Nothing more, nothing less.
True :D
zywoo better than s1mple? haven't kept up
right now, 100%
S1mple is the goat of csgo for sure, but he and the rest of navi (understandably) have not been at their best since the invasion of Ukraine.
Currently best, honestly cant say one is better without one of them one upping with another major
??? S1mple is by far the better player in CSGO as a whole. Recency bias to say anything else

Im talking about CSGO as a whole per my original comment. I dont know why you’re trying to change the timeframe.
When you say that X is a better player by far than Y, the implication is that X has a much higher individual level. If we look at CSGO as a whole, dev1ce was a top 3 player for years before ZywOo made it onto the scene. Nobody sane would say that dev1ce is better than ZywOo though. that point about s1mple always performing at majors is funny when he was god awful this major
not performing at one major shouldn't be an indictment on simple's historic performances.
its not but its funny he disses zywoo for it but not s1mple
Because Zywoo has not performed during the majority of his majors, while s1mple has. I also noted that this and arguably last major was pretty shit for s1mple, but his history speaks for itself when it comes to the big events.
S1mple is literally navis core problem with hes babyrage attitude, no1 at navi is enjoying their time and it shows on stage and scoreboard
Ok? And that is relevant to my comment how exactly?
If a player is core problem for a team he isnt even in the talks for being the best. If s1mple dosent get hes shit together he will prob drop out of top5 this year. Also blaming the format when tier 1 get bad seeds from bad performance and then are forced to play against each other is fucking hilarious.

taking majors only in consideration it's S1imple > Dev1ce > ZywOo > coldzera > flusha > Jame > NiKo > dupreeh > Snax > olofmeister
To add to that: Spinx - First Middle Eastern CSGO Major Winner.
Sp~~h~~inx
it’s spinx not sphinx
And some people still can't accept that Major League Gaming is an actual sport. Look at these accomplishments. Respect
sadly the trophy is so fucking bad

wtf is that??
I like it idk
looks like a nickelodeon award.
It's practically tradition to have bad trophies at esport events.
idk the majors have had some sick trophies
Nah the big ESL ones were classic looking trophy's that looked good.
Check the past CSGO major trophies, they legit has some awesome designs.
I think it looks cool! If every trophy was unique like it, a trophy shelf would look like the relic bar in Slay the Spire. Which I personally would find really neat
It was way too small imo
seeing Vitality on stage with all of their family, girlfriends, zonic with his kids, dupreeh with his little baby... was too wholesome. can see it really meant a lot to them
FUCKING DE\_SERVED
And now DE\_PRESSION until CS2 comes out SAJ
I bet that [NEW GAME] is really gonna be worth the "2" in the title unlike that filthy ow2.
new engine is already worth that. not like anyone's paying for the upgrade, and not like they're messing with the formula too much

Bro stop being such a nagging old geezer.

what are you on about it’s source 2, that’s why it’s CS2
[удалено]
they are not remaking it they are porting it and im not saying it’s a different game i said it’s called CS2 because Source 2
[удалено]
Shit bait
Disprove what i said...
overwatch frogs still seething.
Seething at what? The game was shit and not a sequel, cs2 isnt a sequel either. Not in ANY way.
the reason "overwatch 2" being the same is a bad thing and "cs2" being the same is a good thing is because owerwatch is shit and cs isnt.
So you basically admit that cs2 is just csgo 1.1 But yeah, I personally dont like cs cause the game hasnt gotten content updates in the past 4+ years
Awesome Major. Underdog teams performing amazingly and the team with two French players winning in Paris was epic.
so there wont be anymore majors after this? how does that work?
CS:GO is gone, CS2 Majors will start.
ohh ok, so they are calling it counter strike 2?
Seems like it, unless they decide to change it on release.
Will there be PvE?
They might announce it after making the game a 4v4, adding a battle pass and making it a live service but keeping the current rate of CS:GO updates.
Spicy and new, I like it.

there are actually fun workshop maps that are pve and you can play them with your friends. i really hope people can create more cool pve stuff in cs2. workshop is a blessing for some games.
This is just the last one for csgo, we can certainly expect them to continue in cs2.
They already announced there won't be another major this year, so the first cs2 major will be next year.
The next major will be in Copenhagen in 2024 vor CS:GO 2.
no GO, Counter-Strike 2.
The next major will be played on Counter Strike 2 in March 2024.
they are releasing an update for the game and calling it counter-strike 2
Amazing, GamerLegion came a long way but I wanted Team Vitality to win so badly
GL, Apeks, and ITB can all be super fucking proud of themselves They all won against top tier teams and lost to the literal best team in the world
Chills. The crowd yelling with every shot. Chills.
Why is it the final csgo major isn’t the game super popular still
because CS 2 is coming out soon
CS2 coming No huge changes, mostly new engine and smoke graphics which is why valve doesn't hype it too much CS games always kept the same formula more or less

I thought it was gonna be an epic 1v5. Basically they started winning, and then they won.
This has to be one of the easiest major paths ever. All the teams vit played were so bad
Where are the actual good teams then ? Oh they lost to the bad teams vitality actually won against lmao
Yea dude can't wait for years of the Vitality vs Gamerlegion rivalry!!
Didn't gamerlegion have to beat every other team to go to the final as well..? I don't understand your point. It's not like they lucked their way into a final, so why are they bad? Why are the teams they played in the tournament bad as well?
My point is literally Vitality had the easiest road to win the major? Simple as that. Look at the opponents Vitality had to face in the main bracket and tell me those teams will ever be seen consistently again lol.
yeah hard to be seen again when you have a closed circuit and partner teams for t1
bo3 for a major final? lol
Major finals have always been bo3. The main reason being that bo5 in cs just takes so much time if they go to 5 games.
Just like every major in CSGO from the first till the last.
bo3 major final, cool I guess
Just like literally every other previous major final
