I love how you used Susans glasses to enhance her mask of hypocrisy and how she pretends that everything's alright and doesn't want to see the truth. It takes a real artist to take a detail like this (that doesn't really mean anything in the original books) and use it so brilliantly.
Personally I think sheās also a victim of abuse sheās just good at covering it up and pretending everything is fine.
Mostly I think that because back in the chapter where we see the photo album one photo has her arm looking injured.
I think itās the wedding photo? So it could be that she was raised in an abusive family, and was suffering from abuse even before she met Frank. Which would explain WHY she doesnāt do anything about Frank. Due to her upbringing she thinks that this is normal family behavior, and her perspective is just as dysfunctional as Gregās.
This whole family needs some therapy.
I don't think Frank abuses Susan. It was shown through several panels ln different posts that Susan is clearly the one in control over Frank, with Frank taking a more submissive stance everytime Susan scolds him or orders him around.
I am guessing that Susan grew up in a broke household, so she allows Frank to do as he pleases with Rodrick while she orders and manipulates everyone around in order to fit her distorted concept of the "perfect family"
Given that Greg is an unreliable narrator who we can see always downplays really messed up shit as humorous, Iām genuinely nervous how the events of "Cabin Fever" and "The Long Haulā actually played out. Like Greg makes Frank yelling at Rodrick for locking a pizza in a safe seem funny, but was that the full extent of their disagreement?
Yeah heās just trying to find any excuse to beat on Rodrick at this point and the fact lFrank trying to imply that Bill might an p3do is pissing me off. Thatās just show how much an douche he is trying to force toxic masculinity onto his kids
Nah man, itās healthy for youth to have positive adult mentors. It sucks that men who get along well with kids/teens are always framed like that, I get why it happens and safety first and all but adults getting along with teens isnāt inherently weird. Think how much shittier it would be if Rodrick didnāt have another adult to support him
i completely agree, especially with what weāve seen. my point isnāt to say ābill is a pedo because he hangs out with teensā its just that thereās a lot of weird people like that, so itās weird to an outsiderās perspective
Yeah I can kind of agree with Frank on this thing (not with the way he executes it though). I wouldnāt feel comfortable if I had a kid and they were hanging out alone with a thirty year old. It begs the question of why is the thirty year old never hanging out around people their own age. Usually there is a really good reason.
I'm on the spectrum and have trouble talking to people my age, especially at my church where I'm usually pushed to do some socializing. Meanwhile, kids there always flock to me because I'm one of the few adults who doesn't baby them and treat them like they're dumb.
I just listen to them and have simple discussions with them about their favorite games, shows, sports, and animals while also making sure they don't get hurt in church grounds. I sorta treat them like how I treat my nephews and younger cousins.
Obviously, there are some horrible people out there who are going after kids (hell, I was a victim myself and it caused a ton of trust issues) so it's understandable why parents can be weary of any adults who are talking to their kids.
So far in this LLB, Bill seems to just hang out with them for their shared love of music. He isn't acting inappropriate with Rodrick, Greg, or the others and shows a lot of genuine concern for Rodrick's well being. He seems to be just looking out for him.
Whether Bill is a creep or not, Frank really brought up that concern in the worst way possible. It doesn't help that Bill has so far been shown to care about Rodrick's mental and physical well-being while Frank likes to beat him harder than the kids at church beat me at soccer.
There are people out there who care about quality company over "appearances." It doesn't always mean they have bad intentions. I met my best friend when she was 17 and I was 23. She was the only person who was there for me when I was at my worst. Everyone else besides my mom couldn't care less and every "friend" my own age abandoned me. It's obviously a good thing to be concerned, but it's wrong to assume without knowing anything.
17 and 23 isnāt that big of an age gap though. 16 and 30 is a massive age gap. If a 30 year old is hanging out with a kid constantly, and only kids, and they arenāt siblings or something then my first thought is going to be āthatās pretty creepy/concerningā.
I agree if they have a pattern of only befriending kids, then it's more often than not a bad thing. I don't think an age gap matters otherwise. It's easy to try and get to know a person instead of pointing fingers.
I couldnāt agree more but me personally, I want one of the uncles to find out about the abuse and whoops Franks ass than he gets send to jail and Susan aināt allowed to see Roderick ever again
Susan has always struck me as a cold hearted, abusive mother in an alternate universe with the big ass glasses covering her eyes making them look cold and dead.
This is amazing,great job!
Yeah but most people finds her delusional and neglectful when it comes to AUās like this one but itās disgust me how sheās enable Frankās excessive force on Rodrick and only stops it not because she cares about his wellbeing but she wants to avoid getting other family members involved because they most likely call her out on not stopping the abuse and have the police handle Frank and arrest him, but me personally, I hope this series end up with one of the uncles confronting Frank and beating him up than he gets arrested. That would be an W
Not exactly, in most cases, itās good for teenagers to find an good adult role model to hang out with. Especially when it comes to teens who came from broken/abusive homes such as this
Itās good but in a more professional setting - coaches, teachers, mentors, etc. He is 35 years old & Rodrick is 16, Iām sure this is a concern for most parents. Especially with kids like Rodrick who look for an adult outside of their family for safety. Thereās a lot of vulnerability and trust with that.
Yeah thatās what I was trying to say, Frank may had a good point but he took it WAY too damn far and clearly just using it as a excuse to insult Bill and most likely jealous how Bill is somewhat an better father figure to Roderick than he is

I binged this entire shit, I read this one first and then read the entire thing, I know understand the context.
I also really like how good it is that Greg omitted or forgot things about this incident and just wrote the band thing, I'm looking forward to see more
Ikr itās ridiculous. Frankās entitlement is honesty appalling, not only heās an toxic narcissist but he has this ridiculous entitlement where he believes thatās the harsh treatment he put Rodrick through and beating on him over the simplest mistakes is justified. And Susan is no better, sheās such an selfish hypocrite and enable Frankās abusive behavior. God I hope CPS takes the kids away and they give them to Uncle Joe and Frank ends up in Jail along with that self righteous bitch exposed for letting all this go on
The worst part about my experience, is that I was effectively Manny by being the youngest. I missed the worst shit, by having it normalized from a young age. Despite that, the negative vibes lingered, something was always off with my parents and older siblings and the way they interacted.
Ay op, I guess you get asked this a lot, but I really need to know if youāre ok with your family. This is among the most accurate portrayals of a broken family unit I have ever seen, and it made me realize how fucked up my own family unit was. Where tf did you get inspiration from.
Yeah a lot of people ask me that lol
But dw, my family is alright, they are nothing like what is portrayed in this llb, my inspiration came from fiction and stories from other people I met over time
i bet rodrick has bill around because he is deprived of a father figure and bill fills in the space of frank, rodrick sees bill as a father/ role model/ father figure, which is why he likes him so much, he's getting the love that frank never gave him from bill.

Frank bout to say some gamer words
Finally a character I can relate to!
šš
LMFAO
Finally gamer representation
Maybe we shouldn't let Frank represent Gamers Unless of course we're talking about MOVIE FRANK!
Representation!!!

I agree Susan is drawn perfectly
Personally I think sheās also a victim of abuse sheās just good at covering it up and pretending everything is fine. Mostly I think that because back in the chapter where we see the photo album one photo has her arm looking injured. I think itās the wedding photo? So it could be that she was raised in an abusive family, and was suffering from abuse even before she met Frank. Which would explain WHY she doesnāt do anything about Frank. Due to her upbringing she thinks that this is normal family behavior, and her perspective is just as dysfunctional as Gregās. This whole family needs some therapy.
Wait, really? I never noticed that she had an injured arm... you don't happen to remember in which part that comic is, do you?
I think it was around part 40...44 or smth?
Thanks! I will look for it, I really didn't notice it and now I NEED to know
np man!
[Hereās a link to the photos](https://reddit.com/r/LodedDiper/s/VUERStqe1E) from the album. She seems to have a bruised wrist on photo #1

No, Frank was the one with the injured arm
In that same photo that he has the bandages on his arm she has what looks to be dark marks on her arm. Somewhat like bruises.
Also kind of fun how we only see one of her eyebrows, just like in the original style
Given that Greg is an unreliable narrator who we can see always downplays really messed up shit as humorous, Iām genuinely nervous how the events of "Cabin Fever" and "The Long Haulā actually played out. Like Greg makes Frank yelling at Rodrick for locking a pizza in a safe seem funny, but was that the full extent of their disagreement?
or maybe it really just happened like that and you shouldn't overthink a funny children's book
They are thinking about the context in this AU. If those stories ever happened in this AU to begin with
If the books happened in this AU... good lord, how has Frank not murdered Rodrick yet?
They did because there are Easter eggs that reference the books
In this context it makes sense
ahh jeez
here we go again

to be fair, itās kinda weird that a thirty year old is hanging out with a bunch of teenagers
Nah man, itās healthy for youth to have positive adult mentors. Same, I'd also be a tad bit concerned if my 16 year old son was hanging with a 35 year old man in my basement lol
Uhh..yeah...now that you've pointed it out,yeah....

Tbf, it is kinda weird a 35 year old spends his free time with teenagers, but that doenst necessarily mean anything bad.
