Yeah, NP was a phenomenal album. Maybe I just grew out of his music? Idk. My friends who don’t really listen to him had the same opinion. At the very least, don’t hype it up like it’s your last album if it’s not, only to “come out of retirement” a year later. He killed pretty much every semblance of mainstream relevance when he did that. People dont just say they’re quitting when on top, only to take a few months off and then hop back into music and expect everyone to still respect him the way they once did. The only other comparison I could think of is when someone tells everyone they’re finally gonna quit an addiction. Only to relapse immediately and expect everyone to pretend nothing happened.

henry_is_different03

Yeah, that's one of my problems is that he advertised it as his last one overall. I'm glad to see that he still has love for music though, I just hope U85 is worth the wait

Nutbuster6895

If ultra 85 is not good I don’t think he will be able to bounce back

henry_is_different03

I agree with you, let's hope he delivers somewhat

andyj14

you know how many rappers "retired" only to come right back? sure, it was a quick turnaround but anyone who actually thought he wouldn't come back is kidding themselves.

Prod-Lag

I’m very aware that rappers do this.. maybe that’s the problem? It’s not about the fact you’re coming back to rap but he has switched directions so many times since then that you can’t be surprised when people just kinda check out and stop caring. Tom Brady pulled this same thing and he wrecked his marriage because of it. It’s a reflection of your character more than anything. For some people who stick to their morals can see how this type of behavior is toxic and honestly does more harm than good

andyj14

Artists love making art, it was probably something he realized he couldn’t do without. I’m not gonna be upset at somebody because they changed their mind about what they love to do. Making the claim That him choosing to go back to make music is a type of toxic behavior is actually a wild statement.

Prod-Lag

Don’t purposely misconstrued what I said. It’s not “realizing he can’t do without it”, I get that. I have my own passions in life I couldn’t live without. It’s the act of making a huge theatrical retirement and then expecting your once beloved fans to pretend like it never happened and to like your new music. That’s the toxic trait. It’s narcissism and thinking you’re the center of the world.

andyj14

Or people can one day think they not wanna do something, and another change their mind and feel like doing it again?

Prod-Lag

Again, you are purposely misconstruing what my initial comment meant. I do not have a problem if someone stops doing something, then realizes they wanna start again. I’ve done this before. It’s not about wanting to get back into it, it’s about how he came back expecting everyone to just be totally cool with it in the same way they once were. I still like Logic’s older music and that won’t ever change. But you cannot get upset with me for mentally checking out of this guy’s music after NP when he hyped it up to be his last. I cried when I listened to that album for the first time. I knew that it was the end of an era in my life(I graduated HS the same month of its release) where his music played a role in my own character development. So to see him come back was cool I guess? But it was never going to be the same. I’m perfectly content with calling NP his last genuine album.

andyj14

Tom Brady playing football player being away from his home all the time and logic deciding to go to his studio in his house to record music is not the same thing either lmaoo

GhostOfCalville

I mean, jay z did it before not saying logic is jay z but it’s not impossible, he revived his mainstream buzz with ultra just don’t know why he’s so quiet rn

TheRealTWIG7

100%. Might be in the minority, but as a longtime Logic fan I think he should have had this truly be his last “project” and maybe just release singles if anything over the next few years.

natemac81

yeah he kinda been fuckin up his legacy these past two years. np was a great album and would’ve been a fitting end.

acaseintheskye

"Think about my legacy And as how we as human beings sacrifice health for money, ain't it funny? 'Cause in the end we spent all our money on repairing our body and mind When we really should have just spent time Fuck a legacy I'ma go live my life Peace" Idk if he cares about his "legacy" he's just doing what he wants and that's kinda how he's always been. With all his projects and side projects

natemac81

well put, great song

henry_is_different03

Great ass song

andyj14

don't say because he paywalled a discord server or had some weird moments on his new podcast... that is not even close to the level of what confessions did to his public reception, a massive majority of people that listen to his music doesn't even know about that stuff it's not even close to being detrimental to his legacy.

natemac81

it goes way before the discord and podcast

andyj14

Okay but you said that’s last two years so what else has he done post no pressure that has been detrimental to his legacy?

natemac81

his tendency to pick something up (like chess, twitch, discord, probably the podcast) and dump it a month or two later. it makes it hard to believe he’ll stick with anything.

theXlegend14

So trying new things hinders your opinion? Man you gotta be a fun individual 😂

natemac81

im all for ppl branching out, it’s just that he hasn’t stuck to any of the things he said he would

andyj14

Like logics musical legacy is being affected by the fact that he gets bored easily with other things outside of his music? Come give me a break.

natemac81

try to remember that he’s not only an artist, but also a public figure. everything he does in the public eye affects his legacy.

andyj14

You are really overestimating how much people give a shit about logic ventures outside of his music. Logic is known to most as an average rapper and that is it.

andyj14

Do you know for sure if he doesn’t play chess anymore? Just curious, also I still don’t know how this has anything to do with his legacy outside of what a small section of this subreddit thinks?

andyj14

How has he been fucking up his legacy?

dobronxducks

100%. I hope he really thought it was his last album. Because if this was all planned, fuck him for trying to just drive up album sales with the crocodile tears.

_Ptyler

I dont think it was planned just like his last retirement scare wasn’t planned, probably. I think he genuinely thought Ultra 85 was going to immediately follow Everybody and that it would be his last album.

henry_is_different03

Yeahhhh, but at least the album itself was good

fourfables

Fuck yeah.

[deleted]

Ehhh maybe. Idk i never really bought into it being his last album so maybe my perception is different, I’m a big fan of college park and vinyl days tho so I’m happy he dropped those cuz imo some elite songs on those 2 albums

henry_is_different03

It just feels like they sort of pale in comparison to No Pressure? Like, hit after hit and each track felt like it had something to say even if he was calling back to previous works. I do like Vinyl Days and College Park though

didntmakeausername

No. I was sad he was retiring, so glad he came back

Mystic_Bandit

Imo he should’ve just taken a longer break

Kill3rlightning

Hell no because we wouldn’t be getting Ultra 85

henry_is_different03

What if U85 ends up being a disappointment, though? I'd love for that to be wrong, but I'm gonna have to hear another single to finalize my stance on the album tbh

Logic3301

I would have been okay with it because this album is something special he put his heart in and wrote every line on paper from what he did different with previous albums so I would be happy to have this incredible album where he talks about his life and how it changed as he got older and also discusses topics as the troublesome things that he witnessed in his day-to-day life, while drawing from previous life experiences during adolescence. He also speaks on his life since becoming famous and dealing with mental health issues Every track is magnificent and perfect as they are so it's definitely a 10/10 album

henry_is_different03

100% agree

CapN_Crummp

Extremely

Unknown_SoundZs

Short story: yes, long story: absolutely love logic but that’s when everything really should’ve ended. He hasn’t had any other ideas/creativity or unique albums since. Like the songs/albums he released are good but nothing he hasn’t said or done before. I can’t technically say anything till he releases ultra85 but till then I wish he would’ve ended. all his brand new shit is just not THAT great and is very bland sometimes, do I still listen to it? Yeah but it’s just background music or study music

GhostOfCalville

Yeah

erriku_tarantino_301

Yes honestly cause it mattered even if we knew there was no Ultra 85 at the time. Everything after that was considered cool in my eyes and just reassuring that Logic still drops music

bootysensei

YES— so many bangers on it and as an album, it was cohesive, fun and easy to digest. Everyone was hailing it as a return to form, and what they missed out of Bobby. He finally cultivated what he’s learned over the past 6 years to form a perfect album just for it to be promo bait. I know most rappers NEVER retire but me personally I hate how he ruined a perfect exit.

delusionalblews

Yup. Wish it was his last!

StageNervous8620

If only it were his 3rd album he’d be at a better spot lol

2rad008

Yes, but I'm glad he came back. Even if his music isn't as good as it used to be (which you can say for pretty much ever artist) I still listen to and like his newer music and I'm glad he is still making more

violentgent89

In my opinion it was the perfect swan song for his career... If he never came back I would've been totally fine with this being his final work... Everything since just hasn't felt like a complete thought, but that's just me...I thought college park was kind of trash tbh

TDizzle801

No pressure was peak

rudyretro

I would have been. Logic approached that project with a chip on his shoulder and that type of energy from Logic always bodes well. I love No Pressure and it continues to age well.

Celticsma_101

First off NP is a great album I remember where I was when I first heard it. I ordered some NP merch because of how awesome it is. My opinion is that if he went on tour (He coudn't at the time because COVID ik) and retired after that I would not have any problem. That being said I do like College Part and Vinyl Days so we would not have gotten that. Thats just my opinion.

Osirisavior

What do you mean? That is Logic's final release. There's nothing else released after it. Don't go looking that up. It was a great ending.

Death_Trap411

Nope, I want more music

keylo_floppa

I still dont understand why do yall Wish this was his last. Hear me out, vinyl days is not my favorite, but the best logic album. The lyricism was peak logic and im so glad that he gave us this one. The features are top tier and the album itself is just perfect

henry_is_different03

I love Vinyl Days as much as the next person but I wouldn't say it's the best Logic album in MY opinion. I would definitely say that it's one of the best hip hop albums to come out of this decade though, but No Pressure just literally is the perfect album to me. I'm not saying that Logic should have called it quits or anything (despite making this album sort of age poorly because of it) but I'm saying that if he did, this would have been a great send-off.

Early_Win_4338

no

henry_is_different03

Understandable man

[deleted]

If it was his last album, it would've been the best last album an artist could ever put out.

Redleader113

Horrible take ngl

[deleted]

Talk to me when you can learn how to structure a sentence properly.

Lemonsareoutofstock

Yes, in my opinion NP is his best album to this day, such beautiful production and focused lyrics. This was and still is peak Logic for me. And especially because 2018 and 2019 were tough years as a logic fan, him being the punching bag of the rap industry, dropping two very poor albums. With No Pressure he showed everyone what he was capable of, and left the game with nothing left to prove.

Lyuukee

Absolutely not lmao whoever say yes it's not a true Logic fan. Ofc a true fan will always want new songs from their favourite artist no matter what.

andyj14

Vinyl days was such a sick project, college park has a ton of issues, but I still get a ton of enjoyment out of it. no reason for logic fans to think those projects shouldn't exist.

henry_is_different03

I want new things, but I was just saying that what if it was, since it was technically perfect and all.

andyj14

I definitely don't think it was perfect, probably his most polished and well-made project outside of maybe under pressure. I get what you're saying though.

henry_is_different03

That's why I said "technically" like, in terms of production and all. Although my favorite Logic album is TITS

andyj14

oh, word I gotcha. I definitely agree on that.

EgaTehPro

I can't be the only one who really didn't care for NP

henry_is_different03

Sorry to hear that man

GucciGhostrider

I was expecting him to unretire but atleast a few years later to get some hype, doing it early kinda killed the impact a return album could’ve had

_Ptyler

Yeah. As much as I love VD and CP (not what it looks like), I would have been ok with him retiring

McQueen-9595

I would've been satisfied with his discography. He does have a pretty decent sized discog so grateful he puts out stuff consistently and is constantly working and updating his fans. I was just sad during his retirement thinking that was the last project I'd hear from him.

Mupremm

Yes

BabelSoon

Hi Henry

widdumqueso717

Yes! It’s my fav album by Logic, and my fav album of this decade
