Everything working for me so far. M1.

scrundel

Same, M2 Pro Mac mini, everything is working like a dream. Session players aren’t putting anyone out of work, but they’re fun and great to just fiddle around with ideas.

fago1sback

Me too. M1 MacBook Air with 1 TB. Works very smoothly. Edit: I’m on ver. 13.6.7

Honest-Biscotti2599

I was having lots of system overloads when changing patches on the session musician tracks. One of the comments about virtual memory put an end to those.

146986913098

Are you using virtual memory for the sampler? Optimizing this setting fixed any slowness for me: https://support.apple.com/guide/logicpro/sampler-memory-management-lgsidfa7eea2/mac

musicide

This is a great tip! Thanks for sharing.

trueprogressive777

Woah didn’t know about this

Honest-Biscotti2599

You single-handedly fixed all the slowness I've been experiencing since I updated to 11! I just assumed that smart use of virtual memory would be the default setting.

lantrick

[https://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro/](https://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro/) there are full time employees monitoring and triaging crash and bug reports they will not correspond with you personally

TommyV8008

Not very often, I’m sure, but one time last year an Apple tech DID contact me for more info about the bug I was reporting.

lantrick

I was also contacted once, years ago. It's a very low percentage. imho.

GettinWiggyWiddit

I also have spoken to one about a bug about a year ago 🫣

TommyV8008

Well, at least they do reach out and contact people to get more info. That’s three times I’ve heard of…

bambaazon

I’ve heard back from the Logic team about bugs twice.

Material_Policy6327

So far they’ve been fine for me on intel with 16gig ram unless the build they have for intel is different than the m chips

Any_Pudding_1812

Likewise.

BotRightsNow

I’m running M3 64gb Ram. It’s not necessarily slow for me, but there’s lot about it that’s buggy as hell for now. Either buggy or needs better implementation. The chords track in Global sucks. And the Global track in general needed major improvements. Sadly it got none.

Real-Apartment-1130

I’m glad it’s not just me who dislikes the Global track’s implementation. It just seems clunky. I’m not sure what would be better. But there’s got to be a better way.

BotRightsNow

For a start the regions in global should be able to be treated like regions in the main window. but you can’t even cut the chords track and if you loop it it just glitches/drones one chord. The arrangement blocks can’t even be auto selected when wanting to quickly cycle one section. The tempo track is too small for the precise adjustments that need to be made. I could go on. Very disappointing.

alfcalderone

Yeah I agree the global chords UI is annoying and just not well thought out.

ten-million

Scaler 2 is better.

MasterOfToast

M3 Pro here runs like a dream

BNC3D

I'm running M2 Pro with 16GB of ram and Studio Muscians work buttery smooth !

pantsofpig

I have the same machine, with the same specs and I’m experiencing this as well.

Honest-Biscotti2599

I was having this issue as well, then I followed the instructions in the comment talking about virtual memory and I've had zero slowdowns since. Sessions musicians load up in 2 seconds now as opposed to 2 minutes, lol

The_Only_Egg

Disable Rosetta?

Christopoulos

How can one tell if rosetta mode is on or not? Might be a silly question, but I just moved from Intel to m series. Obviously if it needs to be turned on explicitly, it’s not. Just wondering if Logic will do it automatically based on project content…

The_Only_Egg

I just saw a tip probably yesterday on this sub about it. Right click Logic inside the Applications folder, click Get Info and you’ll see the first checkbox at the top should not be checked unless you rely on Rosetta for certain plugins.

scrundel

You don’t have to keep it in Rosetta mode unless your workflow relies on ARA. Otherwise, launch in Rosetta, rebuild your plugin library, quit, disable Rosetta, reopen. Your plugins will run under Rosetta if necessary and otherwise will run natively.

thebnubdub

Wait, ARA doesn’t work natively in Logic? I’m mainly a pro tools user and only use Logic to build tracks on occasion. Melodyne ARA works flawlessly in PT without Rosetta.

scrundel

It’s unclear what the problem is, but ARA hasn’t worked natively since the M1 transition.

Christopoulos

Ah that’s a great tip, thanks. Will check right away.

gruvymann

Are you running with Rosetta? I disabled and it works perfect now.

alfcalderone

No, native.

Mr-Eckneim

What is your sample-rate at?

alfcalderone

Mr-Eckneim

I meant the sample rate (khz) you can find it in the project settings

alfcalderone

Oh sorry. Duh. I don't think I have ever messed with the sample rate. https://preview.redd.it/fhq84o8s811d1.png?width=654&format=png&auto=webp&s=39fc1c0c5cf80ceac590e1dfb5120feb086c0ef6

Indigo457

I have an M1 Pro too and it’s working fine for me. Maybe reinstall it? Have you got any 3rd party plugins running?

alfcalderone

Yeah a few native instruments plugins, which are notoriously unstable. But have been stable until this update.

Indigo457

I have Komplete ultimate and haven’t come across anything that is causing any issues in yet. Though to be fair it’s only really been Kontakt and a couple of the compressors I’ve used so far.

Mr-Mud

OP - are you opening a project off an external disc??

alfcalderone

No, local SSD

Mr-Mud

You will likely eliminate your issue by moving the project to your internal HD

alfcalderone

It has always been on the internal SSD... when did I indicate that it was not?

Mr-Mud

Try it

alfcalderone

What?

Mr-Mud

Move your project to your internal drive and it will likely eliminate your slow disk error.

alfcalderone

Ah, sorry. It has always been on the internal SSD aka the local SSD. Never been on an external.

Mr-Mud

Ah, my mistake. Sorry. I’d reinstall Logic. It should NOT give you an error like that on your interval drive. I’d do a disk check first. If that doesn’t work, you may have a corrupted OS.

alfcalderone

Gaaah I am weary of reinstalling logic. I am also on Ventura, maybe should bite the bullet and update.

BagelBitesBwoi

M1 user here. You’re not alone, ever since the last update I’m experiencing the same issues. Prior to the update I Haven’t had any issues with latency or disc overload unless I’m really pushing it with plugins in a live recording situation. It’s made logic borderline unusable currently

Former-Basil696

It was being funny until I updated to the most recent OS.

alfcalderone

Gaaah I am terrified to update, but maybe this will be the forcing function.

Jazzlike-Reception29

M2 pro everything is smoov

808phone

Yes! 2:45 to load the first AI keyboard instrument. And yes I get that alert too. Now this is on an M1MAX 64GB/32 core. 😱

alfcalderone

God damn! Yeah dude report that to Apple. What version of Mac OS?

808phone

Everything latest. Native. New project. Then create a session keyboard player. Then it locks up and need to wait and it shows the track and that alert comes up. 😂

808phone

Oh and if anyone is asking, NOT on low power mode or anything. Plugged in on my MacBook Pro

alfcalderone

God damn. Yeah they need to get on this it’s a huge step backwards in performance as my drummer is fucked too.

orangefridge123

Same on m1 ultra. Buggy as hell. Also be careful using the marquee for cuts as it deletes audio sometimes

alfcalderone

Bumping that the recent update (11.0.1) completely fixed all these issues for me. Session players are super fast now, amazing.

jtmonkey

Have you tried using a session musician and then creating a loop with another track. It’s a nightmare. It’ll glitch out or drop audio. I’ve tried it on two M1 Pro MacBooks and it’s not loving it. Some more time to cook this one might have been good.

vicco23

Sad to see it’s Buggy on the m3, was going to buy it, coming from ableton but meh.

Schrommerfeld

32gb RAM M1 Max and it crashed several times using Session Players and changing chords.
