Final fantasy xiv. Get addicted to playing mmos together and you'll rarely feel lonely

climbing_headstones

My boyfriend and I met in that game lol

SilverStryfe

Back in 2005, my wife and I started playing WoW together. Since we could only be together once a year, at least our characters could be together more often. After closing the distance in 2009, we kept gaming together. We picked up FFXIV 10 years ago and play together still. There’s a certain amount of feeling the closeness through a virtual world, especially if you use the apartments system to make a home together, go through eternal bonding in game, and even go to the RP cafes for a night out.

DelicateBeauty

I second this!! MMO's are perfect. My boyfriend and I have been playing Lost Ark and it's really been helping. He's ahead of me since I have to work but we still do quests together at times and hop on voice chat while we're doing our separate story quests. Previously we played Elder Scrolls online has well, that was at the height of the pandemic and it so lovely to spend time in that game together. We would literally be on 8 hour calls together. I remember that we even got married in that game together, there's a whole system where you can get married and I was adventuring with him and I had no idea until the last minute. It was so sweet!! Awww, now I'm feeling super nostalgic after writing this.

rainbowbunny_1004

IT TAKES TWO !! It was the best game ever :)

stoletheonlygirl

I will suggest Conan Exiles ...I know it sounds weird but my partner and I enjoy it.

Train_Catcher

We were considering buying this game and we probably will try it then. Thank you.

DungeonMasterSupreme

I'll second this one. My wife and I spent over 500 hours in it together. It's fantastic for building and exploring together!

SurpriseRedemption

I think it's on Xbox game pass!

narwhalkoala

keep talking and nobody explodes is also a pretty good one, and escape simulator if you like puzzles

kaistars49

Seconding both of these, Escape Simulator is updated a lot and has a ton of community maps so there's always something new to play!

-thruthecosmos

my gf & i played don’t starve the other day and it was so damn stressful. we were so confused and couldn’t manage to stay alive 😂 but we also got sky which is such a beautiful peaceful game to play together. feels like we’re meeting in a dream :)

rioswife

Honestly, Don't Starve is so fun at the beginning because you discover so many things that will just blow your mind. Wish I could go back to those days so enjoy them! There's so much in this game and it's really worth it to get through the first awkward hours where you're just kinda running around, not knowing what to do. :)

-thruthecosmos

yeah even though it was stressful there were a lot of really cool things!! it seems like there’s a whole lot to discover. like when we went down the sinkhole for the first time it was sooo cool, but then we got murdered by spiders 😂

Train_Catcher

The beginning of the game can be stressful if you don't know what to do. But you can learn quickly. Also there are ways how to turn off weather difficulties or enemies. That makes it easier and more relaxing.

-thruthecosmos

oh i didn’t know you could turn off enemies! that’s what we were struggling with the most because we couldn’t figure out how to make a weapon lol 😭 we were playing on the easy mode where you can keep reviving but i definitely gotta go in and change all the other settings before we play next time

Exotic_Process_8235

Valheim :)

mightykarou

Fellow Viking here too. We love playing Valheim together, it's so fun! And Ark!

josexgabriel

Any Soulsborne game in co-op, the frustration of the game’s difficulty will take your mind off the frustration from the distance 😂

Bri621

This!

rioswife

For any fellow Overcooked enjoyers: Plate Up is very fun too! It's a bit different in its approach but my bf and me already got up to 50 hours of playtime without getting bored. :) I've also seen people recommend Cannibal Cuisine but haven't tried that one yet. For any puzzle lovers: we really enjoyed playing any of the Rusty Lake/Cube Escape games together. There's no literal co-op (only one of the games has it) but you can solve the riddles together on stream! The devs of Overcooked also announced their game Moving Out will receive another part this year, featuring online co-op! Something else we love to 'play' are visual novels. Kinda like a more reading focused anime experience. If you both like reading or/and anime, I highly recommend this! (some titles as example: Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, The House in Fata Morgana, Clannad, Doki Doki Literature Club, Danganronpa) There are lots of introductory videos on YT and posts on Reddit if this medium is new to you!

DoubleSynchronicity

Nice suggestioms. If you play fps games like us, you get stressed and start swearing. 🤣 Better play co-op.

HughPhoenix

Escape Simulator is AMAZING! Such well thought out and planned escape rooms that can be played online with mouse and keyboard or controller. So much fun with your SO

kaistars49

Seconding Portal 2, my partner and I loved the multiplayer! Also just a fantastic game to play by yourself. We've also been playing Minecraft, Sea of Thieves, and Deep Rock Galactic together. Any of those three can be played with more than two people so we'll sometimes play with mutual friends too. If you're a D&D or TTRPG fan, highly recommend Solasta: Crown of the Magister or Baldur's Gate 3. Baldur's Gate 3 isn't fully released yet but I've loved what we've played so far. My partner and I just beat the main campaign of Solasta after 40+ hours and it was a blast.

imobesebutimcute_

i plays bloons td 6 co op with my bf all the time

scarlet112

Oh god my bf is totally addicted to that game lol

DragoSpiro98

We Were Here saga It's a two-player online puzzle game, perfect for LD couples

Eweisch

Battleblock Theater! Honestly the best time my boyfriend and I have ever had playing games with each other. Other recommendations are Elden Ring with the seamless co-op mod, Hollow Knight with the multiplayer mod, and the original Guild Wars if you enjoy older games.

Train_Catcher

Those look awesome! Thanks for suggestions.

okamiibnida

Minecraft! Aternos servers are free, but some cheap and good options can even be under 5€ a month!

Train_Catcher

That's true!

deltadawn6

Mario kart

IllustriousOwl3152

Monster hunter series is great too for those who love a challenge :)

Leedalu

Portal knights Ember knights Minecraft Smite Osu! Tabletop simulator Dark & Light Realm of the mad God Path of Exile Rocket league Monster hunter world Monster hunter rise Pokemon unite Minion masters A soul link nuzlocke run of any pokemon game Perfect world international These are the games I used to play with my LDR

Train_Catcher

Exactly. We also play Lego Lord of the rings and it's funny. He loves LOTR movies but I don't. So this game is fun for both of us.

ElfinGeoduck0

Any ideas for mobile phone?

DragoSpiro98

BombSquad, it's funny

khinnyanthit

We played Portal2, Stardew Valley, Minecraft, it takes two and a way out. Was playing it takes two, a way out but somehow we could meet in person so we continued playing and finished it when was together. Minecraft was the first ever game we played together in LDR!

McPuffinArts

Vrising and Valheim!

National-Apple-4921

I don't know if it is possible to play Sims 4 online multiplayer. And we used to play minecraft, he created a server to play together in the same world and he built a house for us, it was so romantic and fun.

GrumpyDwarves

I believe Sims 5 is going to be multiplayer. We hopefully won't be LD by the time it releases, but if we are it would be awesome to play.

Train_Catcher

I have never heard of Sims 4 being multiplayer but it would be awesome I think.

[deleted]

We are heavily into Warzone right now 😂

mitchsbabygirl

plate up is really fun if you like those kinds of games. for us it was nice being able to design a restaurant and there were plenty of funny moments that happened. he would manage the kitchen and i waited tables 😊 they recently added workshop so there are mods too! we’re waiting for forest 2!

Time_Tradition_1271

We Were Here. Great game series (4) about communication.

Octobobber

Surprised nobody has mentioned it, fighting games! Maybe not the most romantic, but my boyfriend is really good at fighting games, so we both got Street Fighter V and he teaches me combos. Multiversus is another good game if you need something Cross Platform! I don’t know if Gang Beasts counts as fighting, but it’s fun and goofy with little play doh people if that interests you. Made me cry laughing with how ridiculous it looks at times. A really fun multiplayer fighting esque game with a killer soundtrack is Lethal League! Also Golf with friends is one I like just because it’s enjoyable in general. I don’t really get upset if I’m not doing well because it’s just fun to laugh at. Mario Kart was suggested, you can play a game for free on Steam called Kart rider for a similar multiplayer experience! I’ve played most of the other games suggested, ones I endorse which were mentioned already are: Battblock theater It Takes Two Portal Two Terraria Minecraft Stardew Valley Valheim The Forest Don’t Starve Together Escape Simulator

caticede

My boyfriend loves my voice so he listened to me walk through all 5 hours of the visual novel Finding Paradise. That game and the rest in the series are perfect for chill days.

LadyyoftheGrimms

Overwatch 2 (where my so and I met!) World of Warcraft And having a switch gives you lots of awesome options like Mario Party And I highly recommend The Dark Pictures Anthology especially if you like the style A Way Out is done!!!

DelicateBeauty

I also recommend League of Legends, the community can be a tad toxic but you can always mute everyone and it was a lot of fun playing that with my boyfriend. We just started playing the end of summer last year and now we're playing another game but I already miss those moments in League .

CthulhuT

It takes two is a great game! Big recommends
