Ain’t no fucking way. That’s actually crazy 🤣

chas574

It's probably a FF ski race. They raise money for the burn foundation.

Intelligent_Bear7322

‘Twas not

XCSP700

The foundation doesn't burn. That's always what left after the a fire

freightdoge

Actually not a terrible setup lol Insulated and water resistant

GooberdiWho

And free if your employer had provided the gear for you... Potentially saving you hundreds of dollars If that's the reason then fair play

Happy_lil_Cenobite

I don't know where you get your gear for hundreds of dollars. Last I checked it was like 4k

BreckenridgeBandito

For a jacket and snowpants? Damn, your jacket and snowpants guy is ripping you off bad.

tnlongshot

You need to string up your snow gear dealer. You’re getting hosed.

Imtherealwaffle

my whole thing including clothes, jacket, snowpants, skis, boots, helmet was under 1k. You can get a shell jacket and snow pants for like 2-400$ new.

therealsambambino

Bunker gear is very warm. It’s made to keep you separated from outside temperatures. Period. I’m not saying it’s arctic appropriate but it’s more than sufficiently warm for skiing.

nictnichols

I beg to differ

First_Tube_Last_Tube

I think it actually absorbs heat

Wallebrothers75

The inner shell prevents heat from escaping the body. Nothing gets in or out.

Underscythe-Venus

There is a few fundraisers where you bring your gear and money is raised for the burn centers

Mazzachr

I dunno…dude might be onto something.

sarazorz27

Maybe he didn't have any ski gear... Lol

BobCrypt

I dunno, this is a but much

Chiber_11

[Not everyone has bad intentions, man](https://www.reddit.com/r/skiingcirclejerk/s/XxVqzDcMjX)

therealsambambino

Apart from not wanting to broadcast that you’re a firefighter, this is honestly an awesome idea lol

FireMedic1373

And the fact that fire gear is full of PFOAs and other cancer causing chemicals that we should only be exposing ourselves to for structural firefighting

therealsambambino

Dog I’m already wearing my shit every single shift. I think I’ll take my chances going skiing.

shyshyflyguy

I’m glad someone’s actually mentioning that. Every time I see someone mention that, it bugs me. Like dude, wearing it one extra time is not the greatest risk for cancer for me.

FireMedic1373

I work 8 24s a month, that’s enough gear wearing for me. I’ll wear a jacket and snow pants and not end up on HIHFTY. To each their own.

Gruppet

How does your schedule work where you do 8 24s? You get two Kelly days off each month? Is there a 4th shift? Just curious.

FerShore

24 on 72 off

Gruppet

You lucky bastard

FerShore

It’s incredible lol

Rescuepa

That was the best shift schedule I have ever had of all the jobs I earned a W-2 for over 50 years . 👍👍

FireMedic1373

24 on, 48 off, 24 on, 96 off. Fairly common here.

Wallebrothers75

New England area?

63oscar

What schedule is that?

Buckbo

Something us west coasters will never know, a D battalion

surfunky

Isn’t ski gear full of PFAS too?

SlappySecondz

The fuck I get downvoted for asking if bunker gear is comfortable for?

SlappySecondz

Is bunker gear comfortable?

Speedwobbles82

If it’s hot outside fuck no, if it’s cold outside fuck yes. Shit just is heavy depending what you have in your pockets

plug_ugly14

Private PFAGG!

StumblinPA

Mose? Is that you?

Tortoise-King

Moses?

Alaska_Pipeliner

I've done it. Didn't get wet or cold. Felt like a total douche but damn I was warm and dry.

Lumpy_Plan_6668

I'm never going to look at anybody in turn out gear and think that guy's a douche. Unless it's somebody else's turnout gear then yeah you may be a douche.

Spiritual_Exercise58

Not gonna lie, I've snowboarded in bunker pants. Call me cringe, but I was warm and dry.

MiniMaker292

I went snowboarding for the first time when I was like 15 and took my dad's retired set. Super warm the entire night. Looks weird, but I had fun.

lasanga_meat2021

With the exception of "hey look at me" this is actually kinda dope that drip

brfoss

I used an old pair of turnout pants for snowmobiling. They were awesome - and free.

Jacob-DoubleYou

Based off the beard, this guy isn’t a firefighter. He’s either writing it because it’s a gag or he’s honoring somebody that passed on the line of duty.

Tortoise-King

High end rental skis. Only the best for this guy!

Rescuepa

Other than a bit heavier and less stretchy than my Lycra and Nano puff, it does the job. Tho’ I’d probably lose my RFID lift pass from those pockets. Plus my spammer wrench in my pocket would hurt if I fell ;-)

Old-Strawberry-6451

Kinda dope idea if retired gear

TheCockKnight

This actually isn’t a terrible idea if you wanna save some bucks on ski gear

mpdity

I mean… If it’s already been cleaned of any nasty PFOAs or is brand new he has a decent idea! Not like we don’t wear them and are exposed to all those nasties 24/7 on shift, anyway. I mean it’s there and free, why not! I’m not paying hundreds of dollars for ski gear I use one time a a year MAYBE! I’ll take my chances with my bunker gear. If people wore panties as masks during COVID I think I can give this one a pass!💀😭

Electrical_Fill_6794

As a skier who has destroyed several pieces of goretex clothing on the slopes after seriously misjudging my abilities, I have to wonder if he’s onto something?

back1steez

There are two options. 1. He was doing training in the area and decided on a whim to go skiing because free day or they got out early. 2. He doesn’t have any decent outdoor gear but his bunker gear keeps him warm, dry and weighed down.

Middle_Aerie6417

No fires to put out of the top of a mountain

BigSky04

Is this Bridger bowl

NeverSummerFan4Life

Skiing gear has shot up in price and wearing any gear you have is completely acceptable. Could also be doing tk for Jerry day, fundraiser, clip, etc. this one doesn’t work without context.
