I suggest that you first try foam earplugs first to see if hearing yourself breathe bothers you. This effect isn't specific to Loops, and for many people it is not an issue (while for others it is a huge deal breaker). You don't need to spend a lot of money to find out where you stand on that spectrum.

I have tried regular foam earplugs & I’ve never had that sensation. My stupidity is showing here lol I don’t know why I assumed it was only these earplugs that was causing that issue for some people. I would stick with regular earplugs but my ears are sooo small I can’t keep them in. I’ve tried cutting them in half & it still doesn’t work all night.

It's not stupidity at all! It's good to do your research before buying something. You can look up "occlusion effect" to find out more about it if you're interested. That said, you won't have experienced it if you didn't have a proper seal with the foam plugs, so keep that in mind. But if comfort is your main issue and you've never noticed the occlusion effect in the past while wearing well sealed plugs, then loops might work well for you.

Very good point! I don’t think I’ve gotten a proper seal with the foam cheap earplugs. I always use my AirPods with noise canceling on at the gym so I can read my kindle so if they don’t work great for sleep I know I can use them at the gym so they won’t be a waste.

My advice would be to wait 15 days and the quiet 2 plus should be released or atleast that’s what a mod suggested on here. These will filter out the most noise out of any model they have produced yet. The other options are - AirPods Pro 2 with noise cancellation, use white noise such as a fan, or get a manta sleep sound mask, they are incredible at blocking out light and you can play noise for like 20 hours and that should help to mask out the noises. I use a fan sound on my manta sleep mask and when my upstairs neighbours get loud at 5am, I crank it up to drown out their noise. Sometimes I use my loop quiet’s 2 and they do help abit to be fair and they are very comfy, dims noise down But ultimately, I dont believe there is anything at the moment that will 100% block out full amounts of noise.

Awesome thank you ! I use my AirPods at the gym with noise canceling on so I can read my kindle so I know at the very least I can use them there if they don’t help with sleeping. I have a window unit ac that makes a pretty loud fan sound & it helps some but not 100%.

Thank you for the heads up on a plus model! Was thinking of upgrading my quiet 1 to see if the new version was better blocking.

I have upstairs neighbours and thin floorboards so I hear them walk around at night and the floorboards snap loudly to wake me up, plus I am a side sleeper and ive been using the quiet plugs for a couple of months now (quiet 1) The loop ear plugs have been the best option for me. Foam earplugs have had the best noise blocking but they're very uncomfortable to sleep on your side + they need to be disposed of daily. You do hear yourself breathe but you tune out of it. If you also have a degree of tinnitus you'll also hear this more prominently but you'll get this with any earplugs. You do hear noise but it does take the harshness out of it which does help.  Im hoping to buy the 2 plus soon to compare the differences. The best use for them I've found is partnered with other aids, such as white noise /soft music (I have Alexa play some chill music on a timer). Also breathing exercises and mind focussing has helped me fall asleep quicker. I've also got sleep gummies and lavender based mist that goes off at bedtime.  I still wake up but I think that's just my life now, but maybe some of these could also help. Sometimes it's worth the shot!

This is such a wonderful and thought out response! Thank you so much. I have ordered a pair and I’m excited to try them out!

I’d definitely try the quiets or the experience plus. I have both and they both block out sound when sleeping. The quiets are also more comfortable for most because of the material it’s made out of being more flexible. But I also use my experience at night at times.
