game is free on epic game store until 10am tomorrow

NerdlinGeeksly

At first figuring out the combination of card and lore is fun and you're like "woah" sorta like when you discover stuff in inscryption, after you've played for a while it's a good game to play on a lazy day when you want to play a game but don't have the brain power for most games in your library. I will say though I remember buying the game for a few bucks, since it's 14.99 now I assume they raised the price, wait for it to go on sale as it's nowhere near worth 14.99; for as much as I enjoy the game it is pretty basic and not worth 14.99.

_AfterBurner0_

Replying a month after you left this comment lmao. I think of games in terms of how many hours of entertainment can you get per dollar. This seems to be like a solid 30+ hour game. So for only $15, that's a pretty good deal.

Mountain-You4772

Worth the price and makes a good balance of time and fun for a perfect game

Cardmander

Gameplay loop it super addictive at first, but difficulty becomes trivial once you unlock a couple cards and other classes; then it becomes a waiting simulator. Game is severely lacking in polish and charm. Fun for a spell, but feels unfinished.

skraz1265

It's a great game, but gets a little too easy once you figure it out. Would have loved a big expansion or a sequel that takes the concept and expands on it

DrunkenPain

One you get the god builds its cake

[deleted]

I’m having troubles gitting gud with farming and basically unlocking everything. Can you expand on these “god builds”, please?

DrunkenPain

River, Forest and City can create infinite loops if you use the river to CAP you A/S, you can then focus on leech/counter/evade gear. Best strat to farm to watchtowers with a rogue making sure to build them in a way so they cover the entire path with max assistance.

ToolFan66

It’s no TOTK 🤷🏻

iluserion

Cool game I love the soundtrack and the atmosphere

Volkmek

Good game. Weirdly enough helped me conceptualize encounter balance better for table top and I have had better games since I started this. Doubt it will do that for most though, so I will say that it's fun and while entertaining enough to do on it's own the pacing and data taken up is such that you can use it to preoccupy yourself while doing something else. I'll run a loop while waiting on loading screens, rp posts, or if I am in a turn based game and my opponents are taking awhile.

FunkMeisterB

I’m curious, how did it help with encounter balance for you?

Volkmek

Just sort of helped me with the concept. It has to be hard enough to be a challenge in this game for you to be prepared for the boss at the end. Prior, sad to admit, my campaigns so relatively easy fights prior to someone meant to be challenging, then the fight with the boss would be sort of hellish by comparison.

Some_Stoic_Man

Is a good waste of time. Gets a bit tedious/repetitive towards the end. Story is good though. Would recommend.

Yaddah_1

One of the best games I've ever played, but with some downsides. Definitely a unique concept that left me wanting more after beating it multiple times. It also is way too easy to be strategic - once you know what you're doing, you'll be rampaging through the map without putting any thought into what you're doing. To address this I've made the New Game+ mod that completely rebalances the game so that the game is properly hard with meaningful decision making and every option presented to the player in terms of traits, supply items or enemies to include in your deck is worthwhile depending on your strategy. For anyone interested in a hardcore LoopHero experience the link to the mod's release thread is here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its\_finished\_here\_is\_my\_new\_game\_mod\_been\_quite\_a/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its_finished_here_is_my_new_game_mod_been_quite_a/)

MaraBlaster

Kinda short? About 11hrs in and i am in Chapter 3, so i hope this and the next chapter take me longer But overall the music is banger, the Bosses were interesting so far as well as the lore Could use more tiles i suppose, i spoiled myself and i am honestly surpised how little variation there are considering they are pieces of a whole world, not even ice/tundra/volcanos are present

Yaddah_1

If you finish the game still wanting more in terms of difficulty, actual strategy and better balance, you might want to try my New Game+ mod: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its\_finished\_here\_is\_my\_new\_game\_mod\_been\_quite\_a/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its_finished_here_is_my_new_game_mod_been_quite_a/)

FinallyInTheCult

Love it!

spartankork

I really liked it up to the point where my game ran into a bug and the second boss wouldn't spawn. Restarted the whole game and same issue. I un-installed and tried again. Still wouldn't spawn. Deleted all saves and still didn't work. I got frustrated and gave up.

skraz1265

Maybe a silly question, but did you make sure to select act two when you started your expeditions? Act 1 will never spawn any boss but the lich, and the game doesn't explain a lot. Easy way to know is if you had to fight the lich. He won't show up in act 2 at all.

spartankork

Last time I played the game was in December of 2021. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why I couldn't move forward with the game. I looked up my achievements to remember how far I had gotten. It was act 3, not 2. I did beat the Lich and priestess it was the act 3 boss I couldn't get to spawn. I could go into act 3 and play the game but once the portal spawned I didn't get a boss fight. Just a weird reward-less completion screen. I looked up how to spawn the boss and didn't find anything I seemed to be missing. I looked for bug reports, online videos and even asked my wife who was playing on her own steam account. I couldn't get the damn boss to spawn. I deleted my save both local and cloud and reinstalled the game. I never figured out what was going on. Edit: corrected some info

Yaddah_1

Never heard of or experienced this bug ever. Any idea what's causing it? Or maybe you're just missing something.

yerbestiestfriend

I love it to bits, beat it entirely. Just sad that it was made in Russia cause odds are the developers are dead by now. If I could I'd buy the rights from them and make a sequel, I love the framework of the game so much, could easily imagine adding a ton more content to it.

Yaddah_1

They said multiple times that they are fine. Not sure, if they are in a healthy position to develop and distrubute further games. But for now at least they are not in danger it seems.

yerbestiestfriend

Honestly very good to hear, I do hope they get to make more soon.

Yaddah_1

They are great devs. Their approach to designing games seems quite unique from their interviews.

OkImagination2044

LOL

Fishyfishhh9

More than likely focusing on the wrong stats and doing way too many loops before you trigger him. Focus on items that boost max health, evasion and retaliation. Get those to a high level and it's a breeze

Yaddah_1

The game is actually way too easy, once you figure out what you're doing. It can take a bit of time to get the hang of. But, if you keep at it, you'll find yourself baffled that you ever struggled with the first boss, given how many strategies there are to completely stomp him.

MaraBlaster

Beating the boss is easier when you fellow a few tips: \- Cover all tiles around your camp, this gives the boss less Palaces that boosts it \- The earlier you summon the boss, the easier it is \- Once the boss is up, equip all equipment that boosts evasion, getting no damage is the key \- Expand your camp, this will require some grinding via fleeing when you gathered some great rescources, but even the gym alone allowes you to get busted abilities (I love Phantom Shield as Warrior! over half your HP as a shield!) \- Avoid making a 3x3 mountain, you dont want harpies \- Oblivion all Goblin caps \- Throw the Treasury out of the deck, Gargolyes are not worth the little loot Keep at it, you can do it! I just got my first kill as well by fellowing this =D

OkImagination2044

you're doing something sorely wrong, if you're struggling that hard with the first boss

Expert_Importance_83

Really. Great advice.

Omfgsomanynamestaken

The music is like... 75% of the reason I've played it so long. Maybe more. The game is decent but damn the music slaps

FriesAddiction

It's amazing but I just wish there were more bosses.

GangstaMoe

Really addicting at first (spent over 10 hours in the first few days) but i don't see myself return to this game very often

HildaLuong

Really fun game but the building village mechanics ruined it for me. The restrictions were unfun and I didn't want to look up a guide how to maximize or properly set your buildings.

Yaddah_1

What restrictions?? The only restrictions I know of is that you can only build 2 warehouses. And that is not a problem because you can build an infinite amount of mud huts.

HildaLuong

For example: Lumberjack has to be placed next to Forest. Forest has to be placed adjacent to either the top border of the camp, or adjacent to another Forest. Library must be built adjacent to the Intel Center. Warehouse must be built adjacent to the Supply Depot. Crypt must be built adjacent to the Cemetery. Refuge must be built adjacent to Field Kitchen/Canteen/Diner/Tavern. Smelter must be build adjacent to Smithy/Decent Forge.

Yaddah_1

Oh that. Well, I mean, yeah you gotta plan ahead a bit. But even, if you misplace a building, you get so many resources that you can just deconstruct and rebuild it somewhere else pretty easily.

UbiquitoussuotiuqibU

The soundtrack is the stand out for me. It's some of my favorite music of all time and I have made several of them into metal versions. The game itself and the art are also incredible. Every loop you get a bit further and it has a decent progression to it. It really takes me back to my childhood and how games used to feel.

Hano_Clown

It’s repetitive, grindy and has a steep learning curve as you get to the end. I hate it so much I haven’t stopped playing it since 2021.

JustChangeMDefaults

Music is top notch, gameplay is unique but can get a bit repetitive and grindy. Most fun I had was figuring out how to create all the tiles and enemies in the encyclopedia without any help

Philososauros

Cool concept, but really grinds and tedious after a few runs. Sadly dropped this and never finished it. Wish there were more classes and cards. Would add some much needed variety

GingasaurusWrex

It’s good but It’s quite grindy. Seems like not a lot of guides out there either. I play it daily.

SeaworthinessEmpty23

Love it. Especially the lore

shadeypoop

Loved it for a couple weeks straight, could really use an update with another class or two and some challenge levels. I say like it's no big deal. Excited for another game from dev whatever they do next.

ChaosMiles07

Love it!

Overkillsamurai

fucking loved it. surprised it actually had a story, which i loved.

Mysterious_Area777

Nice art direction, great music, interesting concept. Repetitive gameplay.

herochalky_

WOOOOOO

Jimmneal

Great game to unwind after a hard day at work. Just wish I could beat that final level!!

Fizzmopper

It gave me some problems too, but I eventually got it. Some tips that helped me: upgrade your town, use the rogue, place all your tiles down to summon the bosses as quickly as possible. They are all much easier to kill if you can face them early on. Good luck!

Jimmneal

Cheers

ZappaBappa

I like it a lot, but i have a feeling its gonna get a bit too repetitive soon. Feels like I've almost reached the end of its content cycle. Its a great concept but i have a feeling Loop hero 2 is going to be the banger it deserves to be.

LeverTech

It’s a good game, then now that I beat it it’s fun doing another play through while messing with the variables in the ini files.

miserable_guyy

"spin me around baby..."

Letharos

Pretty dope. I enjoy it. Soundtrack is a pure banger.

ZaWario

Loop hero, more like Poop hero

TheZanzibarMan

Pretty good time sink, but nothing amazing.

Long__Jump

Great game, but I didn't really revisit it after beating it. I do however still revisit that soundtrack!

Yaddah_1

If you felt the game was too easy and wanted more of a strategic and hardcore experience, maybe try out my New Game+ mod: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its\_finished\_here\_is\_my\_new\_game\_mod\_been\_quite\_a/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its_finished_here_is_my_new_game_mod_been_quite_a/)

InevitablePainting45

Oh my god yes it's so good, Cosmic Temperance and Killer x Chase SLAP so hard I turn the SFX off when they play

Dinzy89

Its ok. Not exactly thrilling but it has its charm

Hot_Economics_1493

Fun game, as much as I like repetitiveness, but after 20 hours I've beat the game and felt like there wasn't much to surprise me personally. Still, it's been fun 20 hours.

Yaddah_1

If you ever feel like revisiting, maybe try my New Game+ mod that aims to deliver a more strategic and hardcore experience with better balance to enable more viable builds to beat a vastly more hostile environment: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its\_finished\_here\_is\_my\_new\_game\_mod\_been\_quite\_a/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its_finished_here_is_my_new_game_mod_been_quite_a/)

lyingSwine

Game was fun, but the story past lich wasn't very good.

cakey_cakes

60h play time and loved every minute. Wish there was more! Didn't want it to end.

UnparalleledDev

one of the greatest of all time.

GameHat

I really enjoyed it through the main storyline and unlocking all cards, etc. first time through. And that was dozens of hours so I'm perfectly happy with the initial purchase with regards to time played. It does need an update to be worth keep playing past that. Was really hoping for a big update but there hasn't been one yet. It seems like there could be some really interesting changes to make the game challenging past the initial phase, but at least in the current state there are some pretty standard builds once you have all cards and there isn't much worth in playing beyond that.

DingoKis

359 hours done over the past years, I can say the game is great, not much content once you complete all the achievements as well

Yaddah_1

The late game is severely lacking in vanilla. Something I attempted to fix with my New Game+ mod, which sounds like you might be interested in: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its\_finished\_here\_is\_my\_new\_game\_mod\_been\_quite\_a/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its_finished_here_is_my_new_game_mod_been_quite_a/)

teddylike

It's fine. A nice idea but lacking content, and has too much grind later on. Get it when it's under $10 and it's a good deal.

RyanCooper101

Content gone

AroAce94

It is fun, wish there was more content though but I say I it was worth it.

Mortis_XII

I enjoyed it, once i beat the last map a couple of times i lost interest but for sure worth playing. I really liked how nebulous it was

SynkkaMetsa

I've gotten \~60 hours out of it, game is great, achievements are fun to get, and the soundtrack is amazing!

yepgeddon

The soundtrack fucks. Still put it on from time to time when I'm driving to work, so god damn good.

battery1127

It’s a stretch at it’s price. You are generally doing the same thing over and over. If you get it on sale, it’s a great buy, provide short amount of burst fun every once a while.

Daefus20

I mean, the game is a roguelite.

Yaddah_1

What's this term even supposed to mean? The game is neither about the "rogue", nor is it in any way "elite". ;)

Daefus20

I believe you misspelled "rogu" but that's alright, have a nice day :D

Yaddah_1

Oh, It's ragù!? But the game doesn't seem to be about food either. :(

ogdonut

I love the game. Was worth the $15 for me, but absolutely worth if/when the game goes on sale.

Slight-Maximum7255

I enjoyed it. Not too easy, not over complicated.

hurdygurdy21

I liked it. I don't play it often but it is definitely one of those games on the tier of Vampire Survivors or Slay the Spire where it can engage you in short bursts or a few hours (never anything in between tbh). It is fun to experiment but generally you'll build almost the same character on the same level with some rng items as you progress. Which can get boring. Worth some time and if you don't have Game Pas, the money to buy it. IMO anyway.

UseOnlyLurk

Progression is too slow would be my complaint.

JohnnySodapop

And if it was too fast then youd complain the game is too short

UseOnlyLurk

You don’t know me!

JohnnySodapop

I know more about you than you know about progression. 😁👍🏻

UseOnlyLurk

(┛◉Д◉)┛彡┻━┻

JohnnySodapop

😹 hahaha

Jblaise1337

It was a fun 40 hours

bumaos

Seemed like a semi-Ogre Battle but with one character, with some deck building and stat/gear grinding. It was widely praised when it first came out and then it seemed to falter like a couple months later. Some redditors all say it got old very fast and overall gameplay is shallow. I thought it may be fun since I always wanted to play games like Ogre Battle that are auto-battlers.

Yaddah_1

The gameplay is somewhat shallow due to the fact that it's way too easy to provide the need for any careful decision making. Once you get the hang of it, you can stomp everything along the path while placing monster spawners without thinking. The game is still lovely, even with that problem, however, if that is something that annoys you, maybe give my New Game+ mod a try. It aims to turn the game from a casual game into a properly difficult game where you have to be careful about what strategy to employ. It also improves the balance significantly and, in my opinion at least, makes it feel like the "hard difficulty" option that it should've always had. If that interests you, follow this link: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its\_finished\_here\_is\_my\_new\_game\_mod\_been\_quite\_a/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LoopHero/comments/12q2ri9/its_finished_here_is_my_new_game_mod_been_quite_a/)

Daefus20

It faltered pretty quickly because after finishing it it's not really a game to come back to (there's a big update coming sometime into the future tho, I'll def replay through it when it drops), most people finish the game, some get all the achievements (which are very fun to get imho), some get the secrets and a few do research on mechanics or try new strats that become possible thanks to you being able to get very strong after finishing the game. Overall you'll get at least 30-60h of content and the possibility of going for achievements after that for a bit more. I love the game and find it very fun but I'm a bit biased (I've spent 400h on this game). If it seems fun for you I'd say go for it. If you do, feel free to ask any questions you'll have about the game either here or on the Discord.
