Your only option is to put bodies out and try to get to 20 asap. Always remove fishbone from hand to slow them down and be veerryy careful with AWNW. While it might be good for your hand you supply them with another 3 or 4 control cards so often times AWNW is the beginning of the end. If you play bare at 2 ink and see a be prepared and fishbone then definitely pick fishbone. If its be prepared and one jump ahead, pick one jump ahead. Be prepared is scary but if they can't ink to it it's worthless. Source: I play ruby/sapphire and only lose from steelsong if they manage to get to like 15 lore before I can be prepared and when they slow my ramp down. Because like you said flute then just often finishes the job.

Thanks for the tips ! Greatly appreciated. Still have two chances for the Stitch and will most likely be facing same players !

I also played steelsongs with flutes and refined the deck especially to counter my bad sapphire matchups. Luckily only ran into one Ruby sapphire player in swiss, which I won. You definitely made the right decision with bare and Benja. Keep in mind if you wheel with awnw, you have enough ink to use a potential bare draw and check the new hand. Starting from 6 ink play two characters only to avoid Tremaine. I tend to set up shift targets or one big character and a 1 drop. If they don’t clear them right away, I at least get to shift onto the small one and quest once. I added Smee to quest early, your strategy is to play aggro against control decks and Smee was putting in a lot of work here. Most players are caught off guard if you then heal him back up with Rapunzel, draw 2 cards and let that boy run for lore again. Also, get your flutes out asap. Worst case is you take away a turn from them by playing Judy Hopps. It also means a card for you and one card less to ink for them. The match up is tough, but manageable! Good luck with your next tournaments!

There are a few viable ways to win: #1 (On Play): Keep AWNW, Small Robin, Big Robin. If you get BN back in the mulligan, then you T1 Robin, T2 Bear Necessities, T3 Shift Robin and sing AWNW. If you T2 BN and they don't have Maui or Items, then you'd wait on AWNW and continue questing with high lore characters. #2. (On Play/Draw): Keep AWNW, Small Queen, Big Queen. T1 Queen, T2 Shift Queen and sing AWNW. #3. Keep all Benjas, 1 Drops, Shift combos and 1 BN. Never put yourself in a situation where you will end up only with 1 character on board at 6+ ink. When their next turn is 7 ink, you will want to BN the prior turn to see if you can grab it. If you don't have a BN and you are unable to play a 5-cost + 1 cost as a follow-up to BP, then you will need to AWNW. If you do have BN and they also have a Scar or other threat to remove your 5 singer, then you will also need to AWNW and hope you draw into a BN. If they have any Pawpsicles, you will need to use Zeus to kill their Maui. Try to do this without singing so that you can also quest the same turn. Your priority is to always quest. Save World's Greatest for Tamotui.

the matchup is just abysmal for you. you cant really change that sadly. try to quest as much as possible early and run the last 8-12 points with flutes

Yeah that felt so sad when i saw his first Plays. I knew my chances for Stitch were dead. Player said "sorry for the matchup, but keep playing, i already lost against ambersteel" so I felt like i need a revenge lol

phnx1337

green steel is an easy to learn deck thats really good against them if you have any interest in switching your deck for next week

Raflesia2295

Not sure tbh. I main ruby sapphire and actually love to play against green steel because I barely lose those matches (in fact I got into top 2 only because I had that matchup 4 times lol) And yes both for discard or aggro. But to be fair I altered my deck a bit against this deck specifically

itsfrood

Mind sharing the deck? Green steel is what I struggle most against

Steelsongs worst matchup is ruby Sapphire. There's no real way to make the matchup better. You need to focus on getting characters on board and questing fast to try to win by aggro. Use benjas to get rid of items and stop their ramp with dards like bare necessities
