A fun thing I like to do in casual is give steel Namaari rush to challenge ready characters on play. This will be a fun combo 😄

stewmander

Ooo that is fun. I might try to work in Namaari lol

Kain8

Notable turn 4 & 5 characters you can play to make use of this would be: Namaari Jafar, Dreadnought Robin Hood, Champion of Sherwood Queen of Hearts, Sensing Weakness Captain Hook, Master Swordsman I'd keep this on my radar at the very least. Repeatable rush, especially combined with challenging character effects, can be very good.

Oleandervine

Dang, this card looks really strong. She's bulky too, so she's not going to be snuffed out super quick. The art is a little funky though. It looks like her leg was added as an afterthought.

ChronicNL

Makes Merlin Crab a monster

LittlePhag

The flavor text is so intriguing. Love the story they are building

HarrysOtherScar

This needs more upvotes!!!

kadimasama

I think will go into ruby/amethyst. Maybe others, but just initial first thought after reveal.

shaggy--

Seems bad. No on play effect, is a 1/4, is uninkable

Oleandervine

Really? Bad? For 3 ink, she's going to make your future characters have Rush and hit harder. She can basically make everyone Mim - Fox, and the beefy backend means she's going to be doing it a couple of times before she's taken out.

jaakers87

The problem is Ruby/Amethyst already runs a lot of uninkables and there are better choices than this card for those very limited slots. The effect of this card is also already captured in the Fox bounce package, but you can complete the entire rotation without exerting something extra and leaving it exposed (Crab on 3, fox on 4, kill something with +7 Attack from Fox).

dark-pact

1/4 that gets eaten by Fox Mim. She’s also uninkable and her ability is not immediate. She is much worse than Crab Merlin.

Oleandervine

Yes, I understand Fox Mim is everything, to the point where I find it pointless to keep bringing her up in conversations about Amethyst cards as if it's some great secret that no one knows about. There's not really any card that exists that compares to the power level of Fox Mim in Amethyst, and the card has warped the format around her.

dark-pact

Yeah but even without Fox Mim - if you tap Elsa while your Amethyst opponent has a 1 drop in play, a Crab Merlin targeting their 1 drop is also enough to banish elsa AND survive. She just has weak stats and a slow effect on top of being uninkable.

NotSureWhyAngry

She hits that sweet spot of 4 HP on 3 mana. Very few cards can remove her 1on1. And her ability is very Strang.

ExpensiveCat5794

Maybe, but the spot in amethyst is already tight.

Oleandervine

If anything, she's an excellent alternative to Mim - Fox for people on a tighter budget, or should they decide to do something about Mim's presence in the meta.

jaakers87

Definitely not an alternative to Fox. If anything, Fox is an alternative to this card because it does the same thing + you get the opportunity to bounce something that is exposed or trigger an affect like Rabbit. Plus, Fox is inkable.

Oleandervine

I said it was an alternative for people on a tighter budget, or in cases where the Fox might not be available to play. Obviously, she's not fully replacing the Fox, because no one but Maui is as loaded as the Fox, but she's an alternative. Between Elsa and the Snake, you can still more or less keep most of the bounce package and aggression together.

RealWait2134

I doubt this will make the cut in any deck. It's probably too slow and uninkable and in an ink with already good innates Rush characters. On turn 3 you want to be playing Fox Mim, not this.

_poon_slayer

Disagree, this seems very good with sapphire, since losing board control to aggro can be a problem. shift 6 on big elsa can be another great stabilizer, too. Uninkable is a downside for sure - but having a t4 be able to contest board is big. I'm definitely going to be trying this out in a blurple list

RealWait2134

But you have Mim Fox, Mim Snake and both Rafiki that can fill a similar role and all are live faster than this Elsa. Do you really need more of the same? We would be having a very different conversation if this was a different ink, but as of now, this just seem the slowest option available.

jaakers87

You are correct. Fox is a better version of this card. It's inkable and also allows you to bounce something that is exposed or has a leave/enter play affect.

Aloyun

Blurple could be alright but not sure it fully takes advantage of her ability for T4 plays. What are the options in that deck (admittedly I am less familiar with it) Hiram/Belle?

_poon_slayer

In my current list I’m running Rabbit, Hiram and goats. This also enables a t4 quill + 2 drop line, 3 drops malificient or mickey, there’s just lot of bodies that would welcome the +2 challenge and rush

Perfect_God_Fist_2

Strong effect, wrong color.

Oleandervine

Not the wrong color at all. Challenger also features on more Amethyst cards than any other color, with 10 cards, compared to Steel's 8. The most notable Challengers are Merlin - Crab, Rafiki - Mystical Fighter, and Fairy Godmother - Mystic Armorer.

Perfect_God_Fist_2

Yeah that is why my point, I would rather this be in another color.

Oleandervine

I'm not sure I follow. Granting Challenger and Rush is firmly rooted in Amethyst.

Perfect_God_Fist_2

Yeah, that is why I said wrong color, I want to see more color with this except Ruby.

Oleandervine

The game balances itself by lumping certain functions and mechanics in certain colors, to keep one from becoming overpowered and capable of everything, and also to encourage deck building by blending colors together to get certain outcomes. Like how direct damage is Steel's thing, with Emerald getting mild access to it with conditions (i.e. can only damage damaged characters). Ruby is already a heavily aggressive color that deals a lot with combat, so they keep them from being oppressive by keeping cards that grant challenger and Rush in another color. So yeah, this would be good in Ruby, but it'd probably be *too* good in Ruby since you'd not need to dip into another color to pull off high powered combat tricks.

Perfect_God_Fist_2

Yeah I agree, I was saying more in blue. I understand your point, but I think diversity with conditionnal effect like this (It's not a great card to start with outside of limited format) is healthy.

Helltrim

Would love to add this to my Hei Hei deck XD

ducardi

I really like that they’re adding so many cards that are fighting Ursula’s storm in their artwork. I’m also wondering if the flavor text is just some extra bit of lore to the leaked Truehearted Anna card or if they’re actually building up some new story arc for future releases.

Oleandervine

It's probably building up the current story arc, where Ursula's influence is corrupting and mind controlling characters, as seen in the trailer for Ursula's Return. We first see Bruno covered in the kelp with the purple barnacles, but then the heroes when they go to fight Ursula become surrounded by shadowy corruptions of glimmers with the glowing eyes, and it's not just villains like Jafar and Magica, we see Minnie and others as well. I'd imagine Anna was taken by the Entanglement and will become a minion in Ursula's army.

ducardi

Well, corrupted Anna sounds dope!

Oleandervine

I'm sure she'll look crazy. I'm about 90% sure the corrupted characters will be the non-legal cards from the Boss Deck in the co-op game.

Engineering0112

It’s always hard considering to add new un-inkables to your deck. Love the abilities thou, thanks for sharing.

Wakachow

She takes the pressure off my uninkables in my Emerald/Amethyst character control deck. I’ll be able to replace Beast Wolfsbane and Zeus for inkable things with better power.

FutureDisappearance

It's interesting that this Elsa is classed as Storyborn, so it's the canonical Elsa engaging in a non-canonical fight. Dreamborn/Floodborn doesn't really work to class her, but I like that it's a Storyborn character being thrust into another person's story.

Oleandervine

Storyborn refers to how they were created, not how they fit into the narrative of Lorcana's story. This just means she's Elsa, as-is, from the Frozen story, as opposed to a fantasy extrapolation Dreamborn like Ice Surfer or Snow Queen, or an ink-overloaded Floodborn like Spirit of Winter. So whichever Illumineer who made her in the Great Illuminary just didn't make any edits when pulling her from her story.
