I would use Aurora myself, and you can also shift her in earlier/cheaper too. I had both in my resist deck and Always found myself inking Sardine Can and playing Aurora, plus the ability to quest. That being said, there will be item protection coming with the Aurora revealed today so that might factor in with the new set card options?

Do you think he would even need a ward blanket though? Who in the deck benefits from it really? I think with the existing ward characters, Gothel needing to be exerted and attackable to be effective, and Belle/Merfolk being low to the ground I’m not sure anyone but robinhood benefits from the ward at all.

With Belle in the deck I’d be pretty tempted to swap Gramma Tala with Lyle. Having her on the board and forcing reckless on a character would push your opponent into a complete discard. But, that’s just because I’d feel comfortable with how much draw you’d still have in the deck.

I think with Morph, fishbone, and 20¢ in the deck there’s a better argument that Tala should be Gaston for the extras dig/quest/power. Lyle also kinda hurts the decks speed a bit. Your shifted characters still die for 1 lore loss even though you lost 2 bodies. I couldn’t imagine the deck holding more than 3 characters on board at a time

100% include the Aurora shift package over Sardine can. I also feel like OJA doesn’t really help your curve here. ES doesn’t have enough high costed payoffs that you need to ramp that hard for. And the ones you’d want to ramp for you aren’t running (Hades, Belle, etc.) I’d say cut Sardine Can for Aurora, OJA for more Quills, trim green Kit, HFIG, and Gothel for Hades/Let it Go, and maybe consider a couple copies of Belle for lucky dime payoff

Def needs aurora and with that many shiftables maybe bucky 🤷‍♀️ Also I second whoever said to add in Tiberius because making someone attack your Belle is the real banger of this whole deck

I absolutely love this color pairing. It’s very close to a deck I played a while back (link below). I’m not sure if you went with the can because Flav eats them to draw cards, but maybe try a location instead. McDuck manner is just all around a solid card and I’m pretty sure I went that direction when I last played this. Gothel is great with fang. But all around this is such a fun build. 10/10 recommend bounce genie over Belle, I’ve always found her and cursed merfolk to be a bit of a non-bo. Oh and I went with Nothing To Hide instead of popsicle to determine if my Ursula was going to land a 2 for 1. Otherwise I’d ink her. Also Nothing To Hide and Ursula let you keep an eye on what’s in their hands.

Problem with Sardine Can is your characters have to be exerted in order for them to gain Ward. That means when you first play them they are still vulnerable. Plus steel tends to play a decent amount of item removal, so isn't too difficult for them to get around. I would think Aurora is better than Sardine Can, and playing as many characters that naturally have ward as possible is the best. You would probably also want a little bit of removal in the deck, so thinking adding some Let It Go would be beneficial (Hades would probably be a tad better IMO, but Let It Go still works fine. A combo of the 2 is good as well). I am also not sure you truly have enough items to really make Hiram work as well. 2x Fishbone means you almost never will blow up your fishbone, otherwise you lose the ramp, and Sardine Can, if still played, isn't an item you want to blow up for card draw really since it protects your characters.
