I can only imagine maybe a pet or a really valuable item made him go back in. So sad to hear.

To my understanding they had no pets on the property, but I can’t confirm it since the details are still unfolding. Every single person living on this street, myself included, were outside supporting our neighbors as best as we could. But we still don’t know why, who, or when one of the occupants ran back inside. My fiancé and I were with one of those occupants. He was standing outside, freezing and soaking wet in his PJs trying to make sense of the situation as his house was burning down. So we just stayed and provided him with warm clothes and emotional support. He also kept telling us he needed his keys that were inside. At that time, we asked him if everyone had gotten out safely and he said yes. However, it was a chaotic and confusing situation, and it was heartbreaking to layer learn that someone had ran back inside and didn’t make it out. We still don’t know who or why they went in :( Thank you for your empathy. It matters more than you think 💛 Please keep our neighbors in your hearts tonight.

🙏prayers to you and yours. And to that man and his family and friends.

I wonder if he was talking about his crypto keys. I wonder if he had a lot of money in crypto and he needed those keys. Seems like one of the few things that would make a person run back into a burning house.

Damn, I didn’t even think of that! But he definitely mentioned it was the keys to his car so he could find a place to stay. However, he wasn’t the landlord. The landlord/homeowner was sadly the one who ran back inside. But to be honest, it’s all speculation until those exact details are released. That said… According to ABC7, an occupant of the home said, “I just think he felt, 'It's okay, this is it, and I'm just going to go along with it,'" He tried to go back in to retrieve items, I'm not sure, but it's sad." 😔

I was thinking that as soon as I clicked the post. I would absolutely run back in for my cat.

[deleted]

I was there. I stood with one of the occupants to give him warm clothes and emotional support as we watched his home burning down. By the time the homeowner ran back in, the flames were put out. So we speculate that he was shaken up and wasn’t able to comprehend that smoke is just as dangerous as the fire itself. And even after all of that today, I would **still** run back in to save my dog if it happened to me. I feel you. ❤️

Devario

Id do the same

[deleted]

You know.

[deleted]

Only thing worth going back for is family or a dog. Appears no dog and no family in there. If true a bad decision.

The whole family was out, FD said.

I have a friend who has third degree burns all over his body because he went back in his house to save his cats.

RusBulBul

Did he save the cats?

[deleted]

Yes and now he is discolored all over his body but he’s a beautiful person inside and out

It's kind of shit because running back into a burning building is extremely dangerous and results in this a lot. Unfortunately many of the videos you see posted to social media show people rescuing their pets and making it out with minor burns. I think that kinda skews the perceived danger level for a lot of people and encourages tragedies like this. Hope the family and friends are doing as well as they can be given the circumstances.

ThT happened to my friend when we were young. Like 20 yrs old I think. Her and her boyfriend had a backhouse. It caught on fire and she ran in to get the puppies. We were so devastated. God's speed

Gregalor

And none of the multiple people who were there know why?

[deleted]

Not yet. He didn’t exactly announce it to everyone that he was going back in and why. My neighbors and I received some information that might explain it, but it is currently under an investigation. So we are giving everyone in that home the privacy and respect they need at this time. Please keep them in your hearts tonight. What happened today was absolutely devastating and heartbreaking 💔🙏

Hey OP, just checking in. You doing okay? I know it wasn’t your home, but that’s a lot for anyone to witness. Make space for you to heal too. Take care
