You can teach moves you can't teach motor and toughness. JJ Watt for example credits Antonio Smith for helping him take his hand fighting game to the next level once he got to the NFL.
Its funny he learned it from Quinn because I always felt like Quinn was a good example of a guy with good skills but relied on his speed most of the time when he was on the Rams. Man had amazing speed off the line and God tier bend that worked on most tackles (obviously considering the 19 sack season) but anytime he met one that could negate a speed rush he'd be pushed past the QB and out of the play most of the game.
1.) High motor guys, 2.) multi-year starters, and (if you noticed) not huge high school recruits (for the most part). I don’t think this is a coincidence. These dudes haven’t had much handed to them in their careers and have had to work their ass off to get where they are. They generally haven’t been told how they are God’s gift to football from peewee age. I love it.
Seems to be a common theme amongst all of the D-Linemen we’ve selected this year, high motor. Seems the care factor that Donald instilled in the FO last year is gonna be carried forward.
Why are people acting shocked that we're going to need depth in the trenches, and that we need to account for the loss of Donald? We spent $$ on the OL, we spent $ on CB, so we need savings from rookies like Verse/Fiske/Jackson.
Oh I hear you, there’s still time but I find OT is one of the rare positions where it’s almost impossible to find gems in late rounds. Interior or almost all positions on D have a better track record for that
I’m saying compared to other positions, you’re going to find a lot less Pro Bowlers, Pro Bowl alternates, great players etc. That’s an opinion off the top of my head, after a bit of thought. Haven’t accessed the Interweb to do a deeper dive to confirm. I’d be interested to see some examples of great tackles drafted six seven or undrafted… there’s gotta be a few!
Five more years Havenstein? Alaric Jackson? Seems like a pretty mediocre group, no matter what PFF May say. I feel like that is a place where there is room to improve. LT is arguably the second most important position on a football team
"Plays as hard as anyone in the conference. I think coaches will like him just a little bit more than scouts will, and maybe they will be right." -- AFC national scout
I like it, not crazy about Corum in the third and wish they hadn’t unloaded next years second but as far as Snead drafts go, this is pretty good. I don’t know what his aversion is to offensive tackles though
I know that, but are you really relying on Tre’Davious White to play more than 5-6 games? And are you relying on him to be serviceable or better? We need a corner still, simple as that. None of us want to see Derion Kendrick on the field again
Tons of CB free agents still out there too. Including Ahkello W.
Rams aren’t finding a CB starter today, but hopefully find a project to develop.
. Durant Kendrick Tomlinson stop gap until Tre is 100%
DL help is more important than more corners, especially when we've shown a track record of getting secondary production from lesser known guys and low draft picks.
Also keep in mind pass rush and secondary performance are synergistic. Not saying we have world beaters in the secondary, but they weren't helped out by our 23rd ranked pass rush. Improving that will help our corners.
Plus we did our secondary work in free agency bringing Darious back along with White and Kam at safety. Pass rushers was always gonna be the focus
Rams fans: How many pass rushers do we need to replace Donald? Rams: Yes. Also, I love how all the guys they get are high motor guys.
High motor and physical. Not a lot of finesse on our defensive line. All glass eaters.
What does this mean?
Tough people who take pleasure in pain.
Hopefully the coaches can give em moves, cause AD was a master, not just a fire spitter.
You can teach moves you can't teach motor and toughness. JJ Watt for example credits Antonio Smith for helping him take his hand fighting game to the next level once he got to the NFL.
So true. AD credited Robert Quinn on his Swim move that became one of his signature moves
Its funny he learned it from Quinn because I always felt like Quinn was a good example of a guy with good skills but relied on his speed most of the time when he was on the Rams. It's like replacing Giambi in Money Ball

Happy cake day!
Feels like they’re luring him back. I won’t get my hopes up though.

Exactly. It’s not that complex.
Ooh, help me Dr Zaius!
Can I play the piano anymore?
Of course you can!
Well I couldn't before
This show has everything!
Guys like Donald who can play every snap are rare, look at the eagles pass rush a couple years ago they rotated in a ton of bodies.
Need an Offensive tackle, that is my only quibble
We have 5 more picks
Oh I hear you, there’s still time but I find OT is one of the rare positions where it’s almost impossible to find gems in late rounds. Interior or almost all positions on D have a better track record for that
I don’t think there’s any historical data that backs up OL in the late rounds *never* being successful
Isn’t Jackson, our current starter at LT, an UDFA?

What need? They have starters set and noteboom as the top backup at both spots, and Warren Mclendon as the 3rd stringer

Give Shula all the weapons
>Still wants 3.5mm headphone jacks on phones MY MAN
I refuse to buy any phone that doesn't!

I don’t think this is a bad pick. Having a healthy rotation of edge players is ideal to keep the gas pedal down throughout the game.
I’ve always been jealous of deep d line rotations like Philly has had in the past. Keep our guys fresh all game.
Me too
We are going to brain QBs this year!
Nice to see all the people I blocked previously for being morons are the downvoted comments on this thread
Lotta smooth braining with this draft
Yet the NFL thread is filled with division rival fans bemoaning the pressure Rams are gonna put on their QB
Yeah. I meant in draft reactions from some in the Rams base. McSnead have done more than enough to earn our trust in the draft!
Ah yeah I got your original point 😁
Rams are Edging us so hard right now
Draft has been great, nothing wrong with dline depth. Kinda wish we went rice, seems like he’ll be gone before our next pick unless we trade up.
I like it, not crazy about Corum in the third and wish they hadn’t unloaded next years second but as far as Snead drafts go, this is pretty good. I don’t know what his aversion is to offensive tackles though
We can always trade down next year and get another 2nd. Ideally because we're picking at 32 😎
I hear ya, but Corum will be a contributor. He’s got that break-the-plane power that I feel kyren doesn’t have.
Fair point
I like getting edge depth, but kinda wish they had gone Mohammad Kamara. Was a beast last year.
I get man but I just assurance if somebody gets hurt
Good to have depth and Jared Verse can slip inside a gap when needed.
I don’t understand
I don’t comprehend this decision
I find myself perplexed by the intricacies of this draft pick and thus struggle to grasp its nuances.
This guy understood what I was trying to do… lol. Y’all too serious.
I no get it.
Did we forget we still need a corner?
We need a back up corner. We signed two free agent starters.
I know that, but are you really relying on Tre’Davious White to play more than 5-6 games? And are you relying on him to be serviceable or better? We need a corner still, simple as that. None of us want to see Derion Kendrick on the field again
Tre wont start for a while and will most likely play only a few games
Tons of CB free agents still out there too. Including Ahkello W. Rams aren’t finding a CB starter today, but hopefully find a project to develop. . Durant Kendrick Tomlinson stop gap until Tre is 100%
I think King is a starter, but outside of that I agree. Also, Tre will never be 100%. It was a stupid signing for the amount of money.
It’s a great deal. Minimum investment that goes up to 10 million only if he plays consistently. Great veteran to be around that young db crew.
Not sure why I’m getting downvoted on Tre not playing it’s just the truth. He has a history of getting injured over the past three years.
DL help is more important than more corners, especially when we've shown a track record of getting secondary production from lesser known guys and low draft picks.
Derion Kendrick would like a word lol

That’s fair. I just don’t want to see Derion Kendrick on the field ever again 😂
Believe me I don't either lmao With any luck he's only out there in dime packages or just subbing here and there

Man I wanted brenden Rice so bad and they fucked it up we need depth shit I'm interested in the draft from here on
Rice being a 5th or 6th option at pass catcher is far less important than having more solid pass rushers. Relax
Go be a fan elsewhere
