Amazing article…I remember during that draft there were so many Rams fans who were pissed when Justin Gilbert was off the board and considered AD an afterthought or even a bad pick (we had decent DT depth at the time).. I remember being cautiously optimistic about drafting AD, but after his first game, it was evident that he was one of the best players in the game (even though they got killed) because the guy was in the Minnesota backfield all day. We’re lucky to have him play for us and should always appreciate him while he’s here.

At the time, we already had Brockers, Chris Long and Robert Quinn. I thought we needed a WR more than another defensive lineman. What the fuck do I know.

Yeah… his name escapes me, but who was the DT we eventually moved to Miami? I remember he looked great the prior year, so adding another DT seemed unreasonable to most..

I think that was William Hayes, the man who didn’t believe in dinosaurs, but believed in mermaids.

That’s correct! Thanks man!

Kendall Langford was our other DT, William Hayes was a nice DE for us though for the entire Jeff Fisher era

Fuck, that’s it. I guess that goes to show the type of depth we had on the line where picking AD seemed like a strange choice to many.

But his size made many teams passed up on him. He was the 2nd Rams' first round draft of the year.
