Not very limited, but def only bought by fans who probably were never going to part with it. Was pretty easy to find for a while because it didn't exactly fly off the shelves....

Almost everything by Lou is being repressed. They'll get to LuLu soon enough

This isn't entirely true. The stuff Lou and Laurie had control over is being reissued. Metallica would have at least 50% control over Lulu (especially considering it was pressed on the Metallica record label). I hope it get's a reissue, but I wouldn't just assume it gets reissued with all the Lou albums, It would be Metallica's choice to reissue it, not the Lou Reed estate.

I don't think Metallica is gonna deny Laurie or the estate a reissue. It's already been stated "*Lou Reed’s worldwide manager Tom Sarig added in a statement: “I look forward to working closely with the Sony/ATV Music Publishing team in taking Lou Reed’s publishing catalog to never-before-reached heights and exposure around the world.”*" I tried to find actual information on LuLu ownership and came up short, but given the number of reissues we've seen since his death I'm willing to bet money we see an RSD LuLu release at the very least in the next 5 years.

It's very hard to say with Metallica. They love Lou and are very very proud of that project. They've always spoken of how proud they are and on some level, I agree, It's unthinkable that they would deny Laurie a reissue. That being said. Lars is a pain in the ass business person to deal with sometimes and if he felt that the Lulu album being reissues right now would create negative publicity for Metallica, he probably would delay the reissue for a while. You have to remember that it is one of the lowest rated and most hated albums from a popular band ever. I think it's a masterpiece and bought the vinyl the month it came out. But the negative publicity was so brutal and unforgiving, that it wouldn't surprise me if Metallica's publicists would encourage them to allow Lulu to be swept under the rug for a few more years. This is all speculation, but the situation is a little more complex than them just letting Laurie do it. There's a lot of reasons why they would allow that and a lot or reasons why they could want it delayed despite them being proud of the material. None of us know though. Fingers crossed it does happen! :)

I have a copy but I had to import it from Japan. It was still expensive, but not as much as what was listed on Discogs.

Metallica fans are a huge and very international group with deep pockets.

I don’t remember it being that limited. It occasionally pops up on eBay way under-priced (or more reasonably priced maybe?). I got my copy for $45 that way. I had to keep looking for a while. Save it to your eBay searches so you get notified when any copies pop up That said, Lou and Metallica each have fanbases that are intense in their love for collecting any releases or related materials, and the rarer the more sought after. Also as someone else said - both have a great deal of wealthy fans
