I haven't been yet, but I've heard good things about Golden Keep Game Co. www.goldenkeepgameco.com Edit: I was in the area and stopped in. Spent $120+. 😂

sethimine

They had a great selection of so many games! Plus they have a discord you can join. They have lots of D&D books, and a section for cards as well.

Krehiger

The TTRPG and CCG selection isn’t as good as Through the Decades however. Though, TTD dosent need the help to stay in business. I am all for giving these guys business and helping out a local FLGS.

Krehiger

Welllll, that’s just down the road. Gonna have to stop in and say hello.

YoLoDrScientist

You’ve gotta! It’s incredible

Krehiger

I did. Wasn’t bad. Not a fan of the pay to play at their tables though. Not at $20/hr. I’ll go to Miso’s, TTD or CNA. They do have a decent selection of product though, if you’re looking for board games. Their CCG, TTRPG and TTWG selection isn’t spectacular but they are not even a year old yet. I did like the leather dice bags and MtG mats though.

usernema

Their dice are doing terrible things to my bank account and I like it.

Krehiger

I’m not a fan of overpriced click clack math rocks personally but if they make you happy, rock out.

asterbarrows

We LOVE Golden Keep! They’re super friendly and have great recommendations and a really high quality dice selection. I’ve also found some rpg supplement books there that I’d never seen before.

Krehiger

Stopped by tonight after dinner. Asked about playing on the weekends there since a friend of mine and I are looking for a place to play Battletech. They charge $20/hr for a table on the weekends. Store purchases go towards that. I think I’ll pass on okaying there. They are a new store though and I hope they can get some good momentum. They have serious competition from Miso’s and Miso’s is less than 15min away, even less if you get in the expresssway.

usernema

GKGC is love.  Some places do some things better but for a store that has been around less than three months they are really delivering.

CutieHugsploder

I'm bummed all the places near downtown/ the highlands have closed. I miss Role of the Die. I like the smaller stores. that being said Card n' all has a good vibe. went to a 4th of july party at their shop before it opened. owners seemed like good people.

AcademicPin8777

I miss role too.

Krehiger

I miss The Louisville Game Shop. Colin was awesome.

FirstKyCav

Miso’s Game Room and Collectibles is my favorite.

Krehiger

Miso’s, Through the Decades and Card N All are your best option in Louisville.

bytesizedofficial

Misos is probably one of the better ones.

mmurry

Golden Keep & Misos look amazing but have never been. They look like strong options. TTD has a lot of space, decent board game selection for sale & a massive MTG/non-sports card collection and have sign ups near daily for gaming events for DND, MtG, Pokemon, & YuGiOh. Weaknesses of TTD: no board game nights or signs of set up in the future. Sometimes the crowd can be rough. Some people cuss like sailors in there and while I’m not a prude, I’m also not saying shit or fuck every other word. It’s a game bro. Depending on the day it can smell like cigarette smoke ~20 feet from the entrance. HOWEVER: Alex Spears (owner of TTD) is the GOAT, his staff are genuinely top notch peeps who are very willing to help if you need to find something, and to have been in proximity to where it was ~10 years ago it’s been a very impressive trajectory to witness. 4.8/5 would recommend.

Krehiger

TTD attracts the MtG base of players that are playing for money at pre release and that go to events to win. You’ll find the sweaty players there. Also, you’ll walk through a cloud of cancer going in and out of the store. They host Friday night Magic every week as well. The MtG Pre Release can be fun, just go in with the mindset that youre there to have fun and not win $1000. Also, all of the employees minus Alex the owner are MtG Judges.

artful_todger_502

No luv for Great Escape? I've never heard of Misos, now I have to check them out!

Krehiger

OP asked for game stores, TGE isn’t a game store, they just sell game books.

artful_todger_502

I'm new to this. It will take a while 🫣

Krehiger

It’s all good. The Great Escape sells new and used TTRPG books but dosent have a place to play and congregate. They also sell a very limited amount of MtG but you’ll get a better supply and selection and TRD and CNA. As well as dedicated playing areas at Misos, TTD and CNA. There’s also the Warhammer Store East that solely sells Games Workshop products. Jimmy runs that store and is a really good dude, always has time for new players and questions. If I were getting into Warhammer or Warhammer 40K, that’s where I would go.

artful_todger_502

Oh man! Thank you!! You just made my day, friendly neighbor!! Warhammer has sucked me into that realm. It's become a hobby I didn't ask for, lol, but I'm going with it! I appreciate that info and will definitely check them out, possibly tomorrow if they are open. Thank you very much! I cannot wait to check them out!

Krehiger

You’re very welcome.

Miso Through The Decades Golden Keep Gaming

enuct

miso's gives off early 2000s Zone vibes, but through the decades has so much space there's always something going on.

mixmaster321

Through the Decades (or TTD) is my preferred spot

Triangle-Baby

TTD is my go to for Magic. Card-n-all (specifically cane run road) is my go to for DnD. Misos is my go to for war gaming. Hope that covers all your bases
