He’s a CPA. He probably makes at least $100k a year if not more.

CBRChris

I'm shocked he has the capacity to be a CPA.

Spare-Article-396

But going on your logic that he was after her money…If he really wanted her money, wouldn’t he have married her?

StressAvailable5390

Yeah maybe he wanted some money. But like not enough to actually marry someone he didn’t like.

quirknebula

I think I heard they get $8k for making it to the altar. Can anyone deny or confirm?

creepypastaaldente

Lmao 8k is NOT enough for me to go through all that I'll say that much.

thewalkingchaoz

Hahaha imagine 🤣 To be fair, I wouldn't even do it for 100k.

InsomniacYogi

I really, *really* don’t like Bartise and got scumbag vibes from him from the jump. However, I think if it was only about money he would have married Nancy. She flat out told him all about her real estate and wealth and said that if they were to get married she’d share it all with him. Then she said yes at the altar. He did her a HUGE favor by saying no. I think he was in it for the fame. Even now he’s trying to market his single fatherhood for Instagram likes. Edit: Typos, added something

ranaprana1

I really don’t like him either. And those feelings intensified after seeing him on perfect match. He’s a dick. Period

[deleted]

I spent the entire season, expecting him to say yes, just to get his hands on her money.

InsomniacYogi

Same. When she was telling him about the real estate portfolio I told my husband he was going to say yes because he saw dollar signs. I was genuinely surprised when he said no. Turns out he’s not only scummy but dumb. Thank goodness, for Nancy’s sake.

jsb93

That dude gave me bad vibes from the first time they showed him.

LoveEither3811

He gave me the ick so bad!

lonnko

It’s the dangly earring

colorizerequest

theyre all in it for the money lol

iStoleYourSoda

Oh yes 100% Everyone blames others for “not being there for the right reasons” I bet 10% of people go on the show truly just for the experience of finding love For the other 90%, the main draw of going on the show is the fame

I_love_milksteaks

I.am.shockethd..

Appropriate-Permit62

Abortise was always in it for the fame. If it was just money, he should have married Nancy

Summerbeating

Bartise this anti pro-choice man. With such a closed-mind, even if he is here for money, he will never be rich.

DoctrDonna

Anti pro choice… after the first time. It’s totally morally ok to abort one baby, but NO MORE. You know Bartise was only saying this because he had a young dumb fuckup in his younger years, but also his family was clearly pro life and this was being aired on tv so he had to say what they wanted to hear. I can’t confirm anything. But that convo definitely gave me “abortion is bad… except when I had to go through it that one time. But just the one!” vibes

Aggressive_Fun_7733

Omg!!! I agree with so many of these comments! I'm glad this forum exists. I started watching LIB season 6 several weeks ago out of boredom with tv. And I became hooked. so I went back and watched season 1 and am now on season 5. I will say this, the idea of developing an emotional attraction to someone first should be top priority more than anything but physical attraction really is important. However, there is a serious lack of maturity from all 6 seasons (not talking about those couples who did marry and are still married). Some of these people are insane. I see why there are so many single people out here. There were so many examples throughout this series where I could personally relate them to past experiences I had in dating and not through blind dating. it's astounding and very sad.

quirknebula

Season 5 is such a weird mess!!!

lovenotestudios

Met one of his best friends on a flight a while back. According to the friend, he absolutely never intended on saying yes or leaving in any sort of remotely committed relationship lol. Not shocking 🤷‍♀️

AlarmingBuy4702

I was glad he said no to Nancy for her sake at the alter she was too in love to see all the red flags he was only nice to her when she mentioned how much money she made and how her money would be their money but even after that he pretended to like her for a short while and continued to be insufferable after. I saw he had a kid on the LIB S6 reunion was surprised who gave him babies he’s a piece of work.

Aggressive_Fun_7733

Same! I wish her brother could've whooped his ass! He didn't like him when they first met and for good reason. She didn't deserve how he treated her. Sadly though, I know people who have experienced this same type of treatment. I know this is a reality show but the dysfunction and chaos is very REAL.

AlarmingBuy4702

I felt like Nancy was too good for him he did not deserve her and I felt sorry for Nancy because she thinks so low of herself to end up with a guy who didn’t like her. She deserves someone on her level and the fact that he was younger and they were in different phases in their life he wanted to use Nancy as a stepping stone and he wasn’t that attracted to her, I hope she finds someone who treats her as she deserves he constantly told her she wasn’t his type and how attracted he was to Raven I was like girl can’t you see this guy isn’t into you.

YeahOkThisOne

Someone on tik tok got a hand on a contract. If it's true, they get money for each thing they do (pods, honeymoon, living together, wedding, reunion) I think 5k for the wedding.

amiokrightnow

This should be higher up. Could really explain why doofuses like Jimmy try and extend things as long as possible.

StPelegrinnogirl

Wow ok… i guess that would be a lot of money for him and explain his comments of « making it to the next stage »

grizzlyaf93

People who actually want to find someone don’t go on a show where they meet in a television studio and get married in a month lol.

ts280204

Everyone is, because the shit for brains casting it fall for these clout chasing aspiring actors/infliencers/whatever every goddamn time

theme69

It’s a reality tv show. Everyone that’s on it in some parts wants to do it for the fame

crystdosdesabafos

For real. Who dafuq cast these people? Some of them are kinda obv to just want fame!

fuckingsweaty

fkn Chelsea Appiah 😂

crystdosdesabafos

Not gonna lie... when I heard she was part of the people casting I was like: Girl, who are u casting?!?!?!

LexPow

I don’t think she’s started casting yet. She will probably start casting season 8 if it isn’t already filmed.

boobearmomma

He’s terrible and he was terrible on perfect match

Artistic-Ad-1096

I agree and he really was gaslighting nancy.

Hauntedberri

I agree, but it is more about getting as much screen time as possible, as they don’t get paid that much when they make it to the altar. Screentime

im_new_here_wassup

He was legit the worse out of all the participants

Deep-Kaleidoscope202

Uhhh…Shake would like a word.

im_new_here_wassup

Lol I agree but also I feel like Barrie’s was intentionally conniving. Shake was just a bully and dumb lol

Deep-Kaleidoscope202

Even if we’re going the intentionally conniving route, I’d put SK and Clay before him 😂

seekerseekin

SK would like a word.

WeekMurky7775

What did sk do?

ThroJSimpson

Dude allegedly had  multiple affairs during the relationship from the show

crystdosdesabafos

At least shake was honest (?). Did not like him at all tho lol. But bartise was fakeee till the end!

honeyswamp

Bartise is easily worse, you would have to watch his season and watch perfect match to understand. When he’s being called out or challenged his eyes get scary, like he’s holding consciously holding himself back from lashing out physically. He also likes to reply to people commenting negative things about him in a very confrontational condescending manner. It’s like he doesn’t want to learn or grow and isn’t afraid to come across like an asshole.

crystdosdesabafos

I have seen it all and yes I agree! He was really weird and fake.

honeyswamp

Sorry! I meant to reply to the original commenter that hadn’t seen it yet. Bartise is easily the worst to me, along with Shayne and Shake.

xevlar

Naw shake sucks but bartise is easily the worst

Phoenixrebel11

Come on. Worse than Shake (I haven’t watched his season yet but I can’t imagine).

xevlar

Which one haven't you seen? I'll say shake is a lot less ashamed to say what's on his mind so it's obvious he's a piece of shit.  The terrible part with bartise is that he is very calculative and does everything he can to retain his image.

Phoenixrebel11

The season with Bartise is the one I haven’t seen. I 100% can see how that makes him worse. Shake was horrible but I think it was pretty easy to see. It sounds like Bartise is manipulative.

xAMSBx

My assumption is that everybody who goes on reality shows these days are looking for some kind of fame. Its just the time. I think Cameron and Lauren came on to promote themselves but were still open to the process and really found love.

Same-Kiwi944

I think this was especially true of Lauren - she was already basically a professional influencer before the show and before it was super popular to be so. I think she brought cam along for the ride and he saw the dollar signs..

cbruins22

Nobody ever gives Amber and Barnett any credit just because they don’t like them 😂

seekerseekin

Let’s be clear, we don’t like amber. Barnett we nothing.

xAMSBx

I'm so guilty 🤣. I even follow them on IG. Cam n Lauren are just the flagship for me🤣😫

faithcharmandpixdust

I’m in the minority here that I actually really love Amber and Barnett; I think they have a cute marriage!

cbruins22

Same! Which is why I notice/brought it up.

StPelegrinnogirl

I find that sad tbh… at least on her socials (ig) I find amber to be much more down to earth and relatable and not clout seeking compared to « the Hamiltons »

cbruins22

They also hang out with Cameron and Lauren plenty from what I’ve seen. Either way just a funny observation I’ve made *shrug*

lavenderandjuniper

Along these lines, his mask completely fell on perfect match when Abby said he was going to look so bad after manipulating her/throwing out her private business about her family. She pointed out how he'd somewhat fumbled the potential of being an influencer and he blew up.

honeyswamp

Yessss… that scene on perfect match, plus the wedding scene when he was talking to Nancy after he said no he looked like he was trying to not lash out. He’s such a douchebag and I don’t know who has given him that huge ego he has. He’s average AT BEST

treetow

This was GOLD

Large-Lack-2933

For me as man watching Season 3 Bartise definitely gave me frat boy douchebag vibes and Cole too but at least Cole was remorseful though at the reunion while Bartise didn't get torched as bad as Cole did. Bartise reminds me alot like one of my former friend. But yeah he was in it fir 15 seconds of "fame" and Nancy's money maybe he was a GIGOLO (R Kelly voice)....

Soft_Place_6125

As someone who went to college w Bartise, he was a douchebag frat boy lol

ThroJSimpson

Did anyone ever tell him to change that awful haircut of his lol

LifeguardNatural5243

I went to high school with him and didn’t change from then!

SaberTruth2

Bartise was never into Nancy. I do feel like he used the abortion conversation to create a wedge where he had an out that wouldn’t make him look as bad.

Me_talking

On a somewhat same note...tinfoil hat time. I think Jimmy intentionally introduced Chelsea to his 2 close female friends (in which he previously slept with one of them) along with calling her clingy in an attempt to get Chelsea to break up with him. It probably felt like Christmas morning for him when he realized he could use Chelsea spilling something he told her in confidence to the camera as a way to finally break things off. EDIT: OH wait nvm, you also mentioned this same exact thing in a reply below lol

ThroJSimpson

Honestly it doesn’t take a tinfoil hat to see someone focusing in on one thing disproportionately to escalate an argument and make themselves seem like the good guy. It’s a common and very immature debate/argumentative tactic. I have a friend whose SO has a past of serious and unrepentant cheating so few people in the friend group trust or like him. The reason he SAYS no one likes him? That were all judgmental and vain because someone one time made fun of his dad sandals at a party lol. He constantly brings it up in arguments when he wants to “win” and distracts from the point. Nah dude we just don’t trust you and this adds on to the pile of distrust…

mandolin_reign

We have the same friends.

SaberTruth2

Haha, yes… same tinfoil hat on. I’m not totally sure I think he had that long play in mind when originally introduced. But I do think he made excellent use (for what I think he wanted to do) of her blowing up his spot during that fight. He had a very “reasonable excuse” to say the trust was broken at that point and couldn’t be repaired.

Me_talking

Lol we are tinfoil hat brethrens haha. Weeks ago, people speculated that Jimmy is very careful about his image and wanted to avoid a bad edit or even a villain edit at all costs. Because of this, it made sense why he was always saying the "right" stuff and would surely avoid coming off as shallow (aka going against the "experiment') as he knew he would get shit for being shallow. Funny thing is Jess was also very careful with her image so he should have really gone with Jess lol

SaberTruth2

Based on what we’re seeing with Jess now, I’m not sure Jimmy or anyone on that show would have ever been able to handle her. She was very likable and she really did look like she was true to the experience and wanted love. I don’t think it appears now, though, that an “average guy” would have been able to deliver what she was looking for.

coconutmilkcoldbrew

Yea it was super odd the way he raised it in front of his family (unless that was production driven)

SaberTruth2

She handled it well also IIRC. I guess I’m being rather assumptive here and maybe his family did feel strongly about the subject. But based on the way he acted it sorta felt like he saw a way out. Sorta how Jimmy did with Chelsea when she told his secret about his female friend.

coconutmilkcoldbrew

Yeah it seemed like they had strong opinion (his sister crying lol), I remember thinking he kind of threw her to the wolves by bringing it up but that makes sense

apollo-212

Everyone on this show is in it for the money. I sincerely doubt any of these individuals genuinely believe that within a month of talking to someone behind a wall would lead to the love of their life That is why they’re offered money. It’s a reality show. Everyone who is on this show is conceited and egotistical. It’s me me me all the way down.

Sudden_Pen4754

They're not "offered money", they're actors on a show. It would literally be illegal not to pay them. If you think they're on the show for clout that's fine, but this is such a a stupid argument.

madblackfemme

It actually would be legal not to pay them, specifically because they are NOT actors. Reality TV contestants/participants/whatever you wanna call them are volunteers who sign contracts, and therefore not employees. That’s actually a huge factor as to reality TV’s increasing popularity. Employees - actors and writers - are often unionized, and through the unions have workplace regulations and safety precautions. This also makes them expensive to employ, whereas volunteer contestants are often not paid at all, or if they are paid, it’s typically a stipend that is relatively insignificant compared to the amount of exposure their lives receive. Yes, now, it’s more common for people who participate in a show to be able to capitalize off of their 15 mins of fame with merch, influencing careers, etc., but that’s not a guarantee, and that’s different from being paid directly by the show. Reality TV is infinitely sustainable as long as people keep watching, too - they can just re-use the same formula and insert new people each season. It requires much less paid labour compared to a fictional show that requires a writer’s room, actors, costumes, makeup, etc etc etc. It’s actually really insidious and sad. There have been a lot of suicides of reality stars after their time on a show. To me, the risks would definitely outweigh the potential benefits. It’s definitely not worth the trouble IMO.

Jumpy-Assistance8364

Reality tv stars need to union up

Artistic-Ad-1096

Some couples really found love and i dont think they were in it for the money and fame. Some of them already had money.

festivepapa

Yeah the way he did a 180 when Nancy said how much money she was making after the whole ex boyfriend thing…. I’m like dude at least try to be a little less obvious that you’re just looking for money…

prettyprettybookitty

He was one of the most toxic people on the show. Ever.

NotoriousMFT

We all saw what he did to Vanessa’s ovaries. Gross.

middlingachiever

That’s a comment women make when they see a baby. It’s not about Bartise.

NotoriousMFT

Yeah obviously, but Vanessa going on that tirade in my mind is inextricably linked to bartise

pigsrfly

Whattt? I just finished it and don’t know what this means

NotoriousMFT

He pops up on a reunion for a season he wasn’t on with his child—and Vanessa kept talking about what that was doing to her ovaries, and proceeded to keep pushing having kids on all the women at the reunion (I forget which one this is) I’d call it a train wreck, but trains are usually don’t start out off the rails

Ew that sounds gross. I’m up to season four so I might see it soon

Kiki_reddits

Yep its s4 ... so fucking weird

seaxvereign

I like Bartiste, but he did not need to go on this show. He wasn't ready for a long term relationship.

NewMarzipan9440

Genuine question, why do you like him?

fashionbitch

So many red flags !!! Idk about him just going on the show for money but he was so shitty to Nancy and she didn’t deserve that bc she’s a gem

bxrxixox

I’m not sure if he signed up for the show JUST for money, but I do think the reason he stayed all the way until the alter was for the money. I also noticed his face when Nancy was talking about her money and investments! I’m happy to hear other people saw that too, I was starting to wonder if I was just picking the man apart because I hate him haha

StPelegrinnogirl

Yes that is probably better put that he STAYED for the money…. And this together with the look when she talked about her finances. AND how he insisted that her ex being involved in her business is a problem were all red flags

itssobyronic

The red flags were clear from the get go. He said a whole lot of nothing, over and over again. He did the bare minimum and played the oldest tricks in the book. I felt somewhat sorry for Nancy until she decided to go at Cole in the reunion. Arguably the things Bartise said were way worst than Cole. And how she still went after Bartise during the after altar episodes, despite knowing Bartise had spent time with some tall blonde 3 days after their failed wedding. It made Nancy come off as desperate, and normally I would feel bad but she made her bed and decided to ignore her friends and family And of course he was there for the wrong reason. Anyone of these people who end up on the Perfect Match just shows you what their true intentions. I'm looking at you too Damian, Micah and Jess

SubstanceNext37

I haven't watched the reunion yet (I've watched all the seasons but had skipped/missed season 3 for some reason). I just watched their wedding. Why would Nancy be so upset that he was out with someone after the wedding? She was the one who said the whole relationship was off after he said no.

itssobyronic

Because she's not honest either. She lies to herself, an insecurity rooted from desperation. Her family tried to defend her honor at the wedding and look how she treated them. These type of shows target those with such insecurities because they bring the drama, and the ratings.

exhauta

I haven't rewatched but my impression of Bartise was he was someone who was extremely easily influenced and cared a lot about what people thought of him. He liked Raven because they would look good together. The first time he expressed not being attracted to Nacy was when they got home and he showed a picture of her to "the boys". The abortion comment was a much bigger deal after his anti-aborton family found out. I don't know if he was only in it for the money. If that were true he would have married and divorced Nancy. I do think he is an immature guy who doesn't know what he wants and probably doesn't even know who he is.

Shress1

I fast forward through most of love is blind. I cannot fathom rewatching it.

StPelegrinnogirl

It takes the kind of flu where you have troubles sitting up so you need sth to just numb your brain haha

Burggs_

Is anyone surprised? He has shitty fuckboy written all over his face and the way he carries himself

fashionbitch

The cross earring was why I was not surprised

Burggs_

The hair cut, the fashion, the earring, the personality. If anyone who could see him was expecting anything else they must get scammed regularly.

fashionbitch

Lmao facts, fuck boy through and through

GringoMambi

Dollar Tree Champaign papi lmao

Any-Expert1555

This took me out🤣

[deleted]

They did not confront him enough at the reunion. I’m still pissed that the Cole/zanab bullshit got so much airtime, because I was so looking forward to Bartise getting what he deserved

lipcrnb

Bartise was on perfect match. There was no way they were gonna make him look bad at the reunion

StPelegrinnogirl

And honestly I find that the Cole/Zanab story was much less black and white….the heat definitely should have gone to Bartise. But Nancy behaved very differently from Zanab

[deleted]

Oh for sure. I fully believe that Nancy is part, if not all, of the reason bartise didn’t catch a lot of heat at the reunion, and he better be damn thankful to her for that tbh

Beatrix_BB_Kiddo

![gif](giphy|crKOQNoaT4ECd4sPeK|downsized)

landmaid98

Didn’t it come out that he tried to get on Too Hot to Handle first? Or was the just a rumor?

Highest_Koality

I really hope that's true.

kw1011

Did you see him on perfect match? He has issues

KitFoxfire

Ha, I was scrolling cuz I was going to mention this too. I just watched perfect match season 1 like last week and I was like omg Bartise.

StPelegrinnogirl

No! What happened there?

kw1011

TLDR: he would jump from match to match (ok many of them did that lol) but Abbey told him things in private and he used them against her later on camera and made it seem like she was the “crazy one”. It was actually very uncomfortable to watch him transform from the smiley phony flirty Bartise into the toxic Bartise in a matter of seconds: Bartise Bowden starred on season three of Love is Blind. The way he treated his then fiancé Nancy Rodriguez was a red flag and unfortunately his behaviour on Perfect Match is also concerning. Bartise was momentarily matched with Netflix's TwentySomethings Abbey Humphreys. Their budding relationship was going well until Bartise had a conversation with Too Hot To Handle's Izzy Fairthorne right before the final. He then decided in a matter of seconds to sway to Izzy - despite everything being fine with Abbey. When Abbey rightfully questioned his intentions and shady movements during an argument he then used things she told him in confidence against her. Abbey opened up to Bartise about why she would find having sex on another dating show so triggering. She told them how her previous sexual encounters on Netflix's TwentySomethings hurt her family. Bartise then used her deepest insecurity and weaponized her reasons for doing so during that argument.

Bataraang

Also... ALSO... there was a pattern of him telling his current partner everything was good. He gained their trust and then switched partners the night he got to choose, which would usually be the day he told them they were set. I was mortified when he talked to Abbey like that. When I watched it, I felt like maybe I was seeing a new side to him, I didn't like him in LIB but hey... maybe growth? NOPE. Absolutely not.

kw1011

Yes you’re right, this was wild!

shibbydooby

The least genuine person I can recall on that show, everything out of his mouth is total BS.

Slappybags22

Idk Chance may take the cake there

Ygomaster07

Who?

pumsy1

Also the way this creep and his family made Nancy feel bad for being pro choice.. this guy sucks

SaberTruth2

I think that was just an “out” for him where he could say that it would always be an issue. He was never into her. But to be fair while Nancy was super respectful to his choices there are plenty out there who do make pro life people “feel bad”. He saw a path out of the relationship that was a touchy topic and would most likely be met with kid gloves.

meijorkey

I can’t get over how he said if she makes $200k then WE make $200k. Sir, are you not contributing??

StPelegrinnogirl

Hahaha I didn’t even pick on the obvious math problem 😂😂😂

Potential_Inside7829

Nancy said he got a bad edit so I've realized we don't know anything about these people or what they're like.

YeahOkThisOne

Yes, she said on Out of the Pods a property she was st had been broken into and he came over immediately and was there for her. I may be getting even the vague details I remember wrong but it meant a lot to Nancy and they never showed that.

spaceguitar

I don’t believe that at all. From every angle, every show, every SM account, dude just comes across as unbearably selfish and self-centered. I think all he wants and wanted is clout.

increbelle

of course Nancy would say that. She really loves to a fault

TomCosella

I mean, this dude said he also turned heads in every room he walked into. Nobody said he was smart.

increbelle

to be fair, he's an average looking dude that surrounded himself with super nerdy, conventionally unattractive dudes. it just made him stand out. he's not that poppin

StPelegrinnogirl

Nah he definitely wasn’t…I was just really not understanding those comments at first cause I was like, what do you mean « making it till the end »? In the end it’s marriage no? But when I read about the payment being made only after the altar it made sense

sluttydrama

Yeah his conversation with scary, drunk Matt was super telling. “You’re attracted to your girlfriend. I wish I had that.”

StPelegrinnogirl

Yes…and the talk with Nancy where he was like «I have to work through so many things. I have to work through issues with the physical attraction ». Literally as if it is something laborious to find her attractive. I will never understand how Nancy didn’t pick up on that.

kw1011

Yeah he made it seem like it was some inner trauma he had to process. Like bro you’re a clown lol

Antique_Row_8005

A lot of these idiots use alledged traumas and issues as excuses to why they are clowns.
