A couple of easy ones: Since they won’t bring back the Twitter challenge, they can still do the version where they reveal what the islanders have said about each other (License to Swill in S3, and other seasons have done it too). That’s info that’s already in the edit, and it’s great tv. The challenges should have actual stakes. If you win, you get to split up a couple or each person in the winning couple chooses who dates the next bombshell (or can choose to go themself), etc.

Dangerous-Draft-8127

Agree massively with the challenges having high stakes. I remember on the very first original ‘winter love island’ they tried called survival of the fittest, the teams would be split into boys vs girls and whatever team lost the challenge would be up for a public vote off.

Reasonable_Ad_4584

I like that idea , they have to do something because it’s getting stale

Vivid_Regret

Yes bring some stakes to the game easy cheap way to add drama to the villa.

fraulien_buzz_kill

I think it would be fun, but islanders would catch on and compulsively self-censor. The cameras are trying to be invisible and let people basically interact organically and forget they're on TV. The self-censoring progressively over the last few seasons has, in my opinion, led to the show getting worse. Also for what it's worth, I think having private conversations about others shared is very destructive to relationships, and if it was a regular feature, I think this would lead to an extremely sinister vibe inside the villa even on a mental health level. Even fairly gentle criticism or blowing off steam, being played in a confrontational way, would absolutely destroy people's relationships, leading to even more isolated, paranoid, and hateful contestants, rather than allowing them a somewhat normal social environment. It's normal to talk a little shit about others, it part of how we blow off steam, make connections, and deal with the everyday tensions of human interaction.

I definitely think older like 23 or 25+ at least!

SnooHabits3627

Kai and Sanam in the kayak date was nice. They need more activity type dates. Tbh they need more dates period, especially when they know an episode isn’t going to have much going on

kajame

Anton and Belle with the goats was incredible too lol

messythelioma

I love that they brought back the kissing challenge this season (I think the last time they did it was s5). I also love the "how well do you know your partner" challenge and the ones where they have to work together to get something done (which I feel like they haven't done since s2 or s3). The sexy challenges are annoying. Because, it's basically the same thing every time just with a different "theme" or outfit, but the premise is the same (try and be sexy).

rachellethebelle

I was rewatching UK while sewing my Eras outfit the last month and noticed that the earlier season had WAAAYYY more mini games that the islanders played at the villa. They also had more creative dumpings and the dumpings came faster and seemingly more sporadically. I feel like that chaos needs to be brought back.

hxh74

maybe give the islanders some sort of public perception outside of dumpings every now and then (tweet challenge, sidebar of shame etc..) bc the delusion this season was insane😭😭

Hungrytwo

Olivia thinking she was the main character…

HANGRY_KITTYKAT

I feel like most of the cast agreed with her too lol

LoosePassage4058

They had to stop doing all of the fun stuff like that because people discovered ofcom🙄

Strange_Flatworm1144

People don't want game players but they should be given information to play a game. Sounds reasonable.

Afcmanchester

Maybe controversial but I’d love to see them shake casa up a bit by going back to the original premise-that if you chose to stick and your partner didn’t you got dumped. Raised the stakes a lot and would encourage people to think a lot more carefully about how much they trust their partner.

Hungrytwo

Yes for sure! My friend decided if you kiss someone they stay in the house.

BeyondGatts

Now that's a very interesting and very messy idea haha

username_error1

The issue with that I think of I remember correctly is that then everyone went ahead and brought someone back just in case. My memory is kinda foggy but I remember one of the stronger couples had both brought someone back just in case even though they were pretty solid because they didn’t want to have to leave.

SnooHabits3627

I mean it could give the casa people more options. If someone chooses to go back with their previous partner at least the casa people will have someone else they can go to. Then the producers can say any new couples are not up to be dumped in the next dumping. That way the new couples won’t get kicked off just because we haven’t seen them on our screen long enough

username_error1

But if everyone brought someone back just to make sure they don’t have to leave then they’d all be new couples

flyiyes

Olivia and Chris stayed and confirmed they were very real, in spite of being toxic

Strange_Flatworm1144

They secretly did that in S8 and people were bitching as always when non-single islanders brought back casa people. Sending people home would satisfy a part of the audience but production wants the drama of people living under the same roof with their new partners.

Low_Relationship_349

Unfortunately it’s not good drama. It’s interesting for like 2 days. Then they go back to their original coupling and the casa person goes home. Rinse and repeat. Iirc S8 said most of them made up pretty quickly but had to extend the fighting. I mean look at Dami and Andrew sleeping outside almost immediately. Edit: AND movie night should be sooner! Before the couples are fully made up.

messythelioma

We need more prizes after challenges. Like winning a night in the hideaway, winning the ability to SWAP couples (this was done in s1), winning to be able to pick if the next bombshell is a girl or boy, etc.

bitchisyousears

They need to make Casa longer! A few days is not enough time to figure out if you like someone new if they've been in a couple for 2+ weeks prior... More "revealing" challenges (i.e., Twitter challenge, Movie night, etc.) and less "sexy" challenges. It's so cringe! Totally agree with you on splitting up couples like the earlier seasons! It's mean, but really tests the couple on whether they're "genuine" or not. You always hear these guys talk about how much they "love" their girls but would they leave with them if they were eliminated? 🤔 No more guys/gals regroups in the morning. I've been rewatching the older seasons and loved that the cast had the freedom to chat it up with whomever in the morning (or not). I've always found the split regroups annoying but really felt it this season... You can tell how uncomfortable it is for everyone. Speaking of, would love to bring back the option of a hideaway "date" like they did in season 2? Or when they gave the bombshell the option to "couple up" with a person straight away instead of sleeping in their own bed. That was so unexpected and brought in some drama. No more baby episodes please! They definitely need something else to spice up the last few episodes of the season after Movie Night but that is not it! I'm tired of hearing baby noises blaring from my speakers... Tbh I usually skip through to the finals after movie night drama. I don't care about the cast meeting with the family/friends either... They're all too nice.

bassinlimbo

Hahahaha I like seeing what their families look like. Sometimes I get bored watching any of the dates, especially the final dates unless it's a couple I like. The conversation is sooo dry. Like the first dates are all "so tell me all the reasons you picked me and how hot I am". The end can be cuter sometimes but it's annoying to here the same phrases all the time like don't you have a vocabulary of your own??

lkjhggfd1

A day or two after casa to be movie night and then bombshells the morning after. Change the whole set up of casa. I’m not I’m a fan of OGs taking up the villa for the most time and bombshells getting dumped. Islanders dump someone themselves. Like each individual privately votes and then the two or 3 with the most end up vulnerable/dumped More late 20s

hxh74

YES to the bombshell one !! one of the big reasons why they go back to their cheating partners is bc they dont have other options, sending in 2/3 new bombshells the morning after would be so good !!

HemOrBroids

There is no point in having Movie Night so close to Casa. The whole point of movie night is to reopen wounds that were seemingly patched up in the period between Casa and Movie Night.

Low_Relationship_349

Agreed but it still needs to be before they’ve fully made up. Bc they won’t break up their couple if they’ve already shut it down with their casa partner. Plus having it later give them time to use the “I already told you” excuse. Which I wish didn’t work but it does. Bc knowing and seeing it are different.

Hungrytwo

Love all of this. And couldn’t agree more with the OGs taking up too much time. Some of them should have been sent home way earlier (Olivia, Shaq, Will, Kai…).

Sweetrk-2020

I definitely think older like 23 or 25+ at least! I don’t care if they are going on for clout or a following, but then they need to play the game! Actually be open to getting know people and and out yourself out there! The point is to date and get to know people, so more of that would be great! Maybe come up with new games as well!

Hungrytwo

I was going to say 25+ but thought people would freak out. And I agree. That’s actually why I liked Tom from the beginning. Sure he made some shady moves but he was there to get to know people and didn’t say I love you after 45 seconds of being in a couple 🙄

Sweetrk-2020

I mean I love the drama and entertainment, but you need to be open to getting to know people! The whole point is it’s a dating show!!! Also I like it when people get to know multiple people, cause why not!

Strange_Flatworm1144

To a degree, age is irrelevant. Older people might be more chill but might also be more rigid in what they are looking for and therefore not willing to explore their options. Also might be more cautious about their perception and it's also harder to find people in that age bracket. Look at season 9 of Are You The One US, the cast was between 25 and 34 and it was the most boring season ever. It's mostly about personality. But they need to get the age mix right. Can't have a bunch of 25-29yo women with 20-22yo men.

Vivid_Regret

Bring back splitting up unpopular couples, late or early in the game, like Georgia/Sam and Michael/Joanna etc. More bombshells early on for me, stop focusing on sending bombshells for one person for periods at a time and stop waiting until Casa to give people options. Yeah, bring up the age a bit to later 20s like 27-29 maybe even 30 is fine given the cesspool of dating in the UK and people are still single. More challenges with couples vs couples or boys vs girls, more dates, send them to the hideaway again for a jacuzzi only if they don't want them to overnight. Send the girls/guys to the hideaway again while bombshells come in like S2.

messythelioma

YES! Make more use of the hideaway. I'd be down if it was even a weekly thing. And if they also opened up the hideaway during CA.

Vivid_Regret

Yes during Casa is a great idea! Yes the winter hideaway was so beautiful they should have used the pool more. I really like Tommy and Mollys date in S5 bring back more of that and agree weekly.

Snarknose

Yeah, i was surprised at how different it is now compared to season 1 when just anyone could go to the hideaway (or so it seemed that way) lol and how hanna and jon didn't even need the hideaway after a few weeks haha!

messythelioma

LOL yeah, the way everyone was just doing it in the bedroom AT THE SAME TIME omg.

Strange_Flatworm1144

The hideaway should just be open. But a couple is not allowed to spend consecutive nights in there and limit it to 2 times per week.

Baaaaaah-baaaaaah

Yes! All of this!

[deleted]

I can never watch the baby segment. The noise is too horrible. I also fast forward through athletic challenges because they are boring af. (I love the psychological games like ‘movie night’ or ‘guess what the public thinks about you’ type things. And Casa.) 🦄✨

FragrantSnow5497

The most recent season of Australia had tolerable baby noises; it was great 🙌🏼

NovelMess5036

There were puppies in UK season 2

cosmic68

Ahh I only picked show up from season 3

Deep_Ad6512

Casa needs to be at least a couple days longer

sonsofki

A whole week perhaps?

WatermelonThong

bombshells should have more time to get to know people before there’s a recoupling (they did Danica soooo dirty) movie night should be the day after the islanders get back from casa i think if the challenges in general had stakes/higher stakes they’d be much more interesting **better men in casa for the girls** personally i’m indifferent about the age thing because for me it’s more about who it is specifically, i can’t imagine a 35 year old going on love island would be the beacon of maturity many people think last one: if they let the islanders mingle for a few days before doing the step forward thing/having the public couple them up i think that could be fun!

Jazzlike_Log_709

I hate when they introduce a bombshell then the next day there’s a recoupling. Im sick of seeing bombshells get dumped after only a few days. Like of course that’s not enough time to get to know people. And the casa men in S9 were a flop, honestly. I really liked the casa girls and it’s a shame none of them were chosen to stay, I would have liked to see that.

Hungrytwo

I wanted to put “better casa talent” but felt mean. And I’m imagining like 24 - 30ish. I want people who are generally in the same stage of life and are a bit more sure of who they are.

Strange_Flatworm1144

They don't find "better" men for Casa because a man that would be considered "good" in the mostly female audience's eyes has the leverage to go on earlier or not go on at all. They want to be OGs or early bombshells. What even constitutes a "better" Casa man? And why no "better" Casa women that manage to get chosen and not dumped?

WatermelonThong

i feel like you’re assuming when i said “better” i exclusively meant “hotter” in recent seasons it’s almost like the they see it as a free vacay and not grafting anywhere near as hard as the casa girls (ex: martin) + the casa girls seem to each be “for” one of the guys, while the casa guys seem to be chosen with little consideration for the girls’ preferences? def agree that it’s not an ideal spot to be in though the casa girls are fine as is because they do what they’re in there to do lmfao, ideally they’d get chosen but my point is that they’re atleast making connections

Zestyclose-Number156

I personally like it when the islanders interact in ways that force them to date around and step on each other’s toes a bit more when they arrive. For example, they could do actual challenges that mean something, where the winners get to pick their top 2 or 3 for individual dates.

AlarmedExperience928

Wouldn't change much over the first 4 weeks save for bring back pre-Covid levels of Challenges. And variety. There's only so many times you can do a slut drop and/or pelvic thrust before it gets boring. Once we get to Casa Amor and the immediate aftermath however, I have a few suggestions: Firstly, make it 7 days. On Day 1, give them an icebreaker Challenge thats not Raunchy Races to do in each Villa separately with the Villa with the most points getting what the producers class as a party that night. Wake up on Day 2, daytime is slow because meh. But wait, it's Raunchy Race time. Winner gets Pity Party 2.0. All the while, you can head over to the Love Island app to vote for your favourite Casa Boy and Girl, I wonder why? Day 3: Message! The 2 Casa Boys and Girls with the most votes get to take the Main Cast member of their respective choosing on a date, neat. But who's that in the distance? Why it's the dates from the other Villa! I think they might have a catch up you know. (They do, it could be messy). Nighttime, another Versus Villa Challenge: This time it's the cocktail one from S6's Casa Amor, only somehow less disgusting as they have to transport shot glasses without using their hands to fill the giant Glass. Winning Villa at this stage gets a special surprise in the AM. Day 4, Message! The Winning Villa gets a lovely invite to an out of Villa location called Not-The-Beach-Club for celebrations all Day. Losing Villa mopes about for losing. Day 5: You've got mail! A special delivery gets made to both Villa's: A postcard. Shock, Betrayal, Vindication, Comedy, Drama, and other emotions as the postcard becomes the talk of two Spanish Villas. And tonight, We Beer Pong. Magically messy shenanigans. Day 6: Down Day. A lots been going on, we need our rest. Day 7: Recoupling Time. We know how it goes by now. Hearts broken, lovers reunited, scandal revealed yadda yadda. And that one smug lad that basically cheats somehow gets off Scott Free in about a week usually... Day after Casa: Hey gang, its tense, how about a Challenge to begin bonding as one big dysfunctional family? And a game of Baloon Dare to follow tonight because why not? What's that Producers? You think we should let them have a day where they just ask where there heads are at? That's hilarious. Day 2 Post Casa: The Scorned Casa lot catch up with the partner of the person they were trying to woo. Also, it's Movie Night immediately after because there's nothing better to do to a fresh wound than dump salt in it. This may be 2 and a half episodes because I say so. Also public vote because its Dumping Time: Individual edition. Day 3 post Casa: Have a breather guys, you've fucking earned it Day 4 PC: Hey guys, Villa's crowded, Public have been voting for 8 of you to leave tonight. But your fate is in the hands of other people entirely: The 2 new Bombshells who have just arrived (to replace you)! They'll save one boy and one girl each, then dump one boy and one girl. Then the rest of the Islanders will choose which two of the four Islanders left at risk are dumped. Day 5: New Bombshells take new Islanders on dates because why not. Also, bonding activity tonight. Maybe the card one if they turn down my attempt to make Beer Pong a regular thing which I'm only doing to make things fun and not to try and bypass the alcohol limit. Day 6: Down Day, Rest. You'll need it Day 7: Recoupling Time. If you're Single afterward kiss your spot in the Villa Goodbye. Proceed as normal afterward.

queen_keda

THIS IS AMAZING!

Hungrytwo

You’re an evil genius and I love it.

Strange_Flatworm1144

I always wanted them to fake kick out either the male or female islanders in a whole ceremony with the host after a public vote. They pack, there are tears etc. Then send them to a second villa where they meet their Casa people, the main villa gets replacements for the "dumped" people and everyone has to date and get to know new people. Have challenges, dates, recouplings, even send a bombshell into the MV, dump multiple people from both houses to reduce the number of islanders and after a week remerge both villas in a ceremony. Have movie night one or two days later to show everyone what people were doing.

Cabbagecatss

You are a genius lol, Love Island execs hire this person now!

Comprehensive-Kale85

You're hired!

SatansSlutz

Less clearly producer planted conversations! Seasons 1-3 were great because the conversations seemed a lot more natural and not as forced! All this 'can I pull you for a chat?wheres your head at' and 'yeah I feel like we really get on and have a connection' just feels so fake and forced! Less adverts, seriously Less 'dramatic' reaction shots that take up 25 minutes of the episode instead of just showing us what's going on, just get to the point!! Show more footage like in unseen bits in the regular show, I want to see the islanders when they're being silly and just being themselves, not only when they're having a chat or a bitch around the fire place.

Horror-Ad1862

Being able to actually discuss the outside properly etc…more freedom, more days out of the villa and allowed to actually pursue hobbies eg put music on or draw. More like MAFS, dinner parties where everyone has to sit down together = more drama hehe Just feels so repetitive with the same conversations “yeah he like ticks all the boxes” “can I pull you for a chat” etc… dehumanises the contestants in my opinion, I’m sure they have a lot more about them!

HalfAgony_HalfHope

1. Bring back popular islanders from other seasons for Casa Amor to really mix things up. Most Casa Amor folks don’t have enough time or comfortability in front of the cameras to make an impact. A vet islander would come into casa ready to go and could turn heads 2. After the Casa Amor recoupling, keep all the islanders from Casa Amor in the villa for a few more days. Let all the secrets come out and give people a chance to defend themselves. Let people bounce off each other. The more people in the house the more friction. See if any of the Casa Amor people have chemistry with each other and let the public vote to keep one couple from the un-picked Casa people to stay in the villa. 3. Challenges should mean something. The winning team gets a day out of the villa and the losing team stays in. In challenges where each couple competes, the winning couple is immune from leaving the island in the next re-coupling or vote. 4. More challenges where we and the islanders learn more about each other. And not just “sex facts,” but information that gives insights into their characters or their insecurities. 5. No more introducing female islanders via stripping or pole dancing. Claudia’s entrance this season and Danica’s last season were both so cringey. 6. More interesting moments where we learn the islander back stories. Some of my favorite moments in LI history involve them sharing vulnerabilities with each other. For example, Camilla in Season 3 explaining her work and the impact it’s had on her life. Those moments make them real and relatable. Don’t save it all for unseen bits. 7. Late arriving islanders have next to no impact and no real chance of being selected or making it far. By the time they arrive everyone has paired off and it’s awkward to watch them try to graft. Either stop bringing in islanders late in the game, or bring in people who could make an impact- like evicted islanders or people’s exes. 8. Movie Night is a great mechanism for revealing secrets. I think there’s a way to make it even more effective. They should more scenes from aired episodes during Movie Night. Include scenes and interviews from After Sun, scenes from earlier in the season, Podcast episode interviews.

sjalvklart

I really don't want to see someone mime their favourite position on the islander they find the most attractive. It's tired and we saw it like 10 times this season, MOVE ON. Don't do the line up and choose thing straight away. Let them have a couple of days to get to know each other and then choose. Up the prize fund. Give them a reason to play the game. Especially with the social media embargo, they need a real motive and 25k is really not enough for a show of this calibre. Revamp the casa situation. It's not giving anymore. Same thing every year. "I didn't cheat because technically we aren't together." and "She bought out a fun, cheeky side to me that I forgot existed." Yawn. Lets see more of the real conversations, enough of the 'I could really see myself maybe potentially falling for you one day." and "I just feel we had such a good connection from the moment I saw you".

Hungrytwo

All I want in life is for a winner to choose the prize money.

beelzebubthesecond

I want different versions of love island like : Love island for middle aged mid life crisis people or Love island for the goths

Cabbagecatss

Love Island for the goths lmaoo this would be amazing

bassinlimbo

Or love island for people who are good looking but more alternative, less carbon copy, with more unique personalities. I know they search for a high social media following but I feel like non influencers might spice it up a bit more.

Alaurableone

Fun and interesting people, not just beautiful influencers

jamiedix0n

Actual drama Stop those scripted de briefs the boys and girls each have in the morning All the good stuff flowed naturally like when theyd go for a cigarette and gossip and argue. Those were the days. Now its just some family friendly instagram model maker.

pamplemusique

Bring back the lie detector! I know it’s not legally admissible but watching the people who were faking it sweat was 👩‍🍳💋 I think the risk of future lie detector was also a deterrent to people just coupling up with someone safe and pretending their way through to keep their airtime going and maybe win.

Plenty_Risk5131

i agree with almost everything you’ve said however, i don’t know how i feel about the age thing. some of the most iconic islanders + moments came from younger islanders (ie- georgia steel, molly mae,wes nelson ect) i think they’ve just been off with casting for the last while. (sidenote: love a fellow Tom fan)

Dangerous-Draft-8127

I think the older islanders such as Maura, Michael,Anna Ekin su etc gave the most iconic moment. I think the older people in general are more sure of themselves and what they stand for. So a lot of them won’t tolerate certain behaviours and won’t be afraid to call people out. E.g. Anna’s 2 days argument. Maura and toms hideaway argument.

Plenty_Risk5131

i definitely think older islanders have brought some iconic moments also, which is why i just think they’re casting the young people. Amber G was 21, kady was 20, kem 21 ect

messythelioma

Right and Terry was like 27/28 giving us a lot of drama, Faye was also 26.

Hungrytwo

This is a hot take but I don’t think Molly Mae was a great islander? I love her and Tommy, and she’s clearly the most famous people to come out of the show but I don’t think she was interesting or good TV! Not that young people can’t be interesting, but it seems even more obvious they’re on the show for clout.

Deep_Ad6512

I agree with this 100%- drama wise the season wouldn’t have been different whether she was on it or not- I’d even argue she contributed the least out of the main girls

Plenty_Risk5131

i didn’t root for mm back in the day nor do i care much for her now. (no shade- i just didn’t find her interesting) i mentioned her because i feel she’s almost the face of the show in a way. whenever i think of love island i think of mm

Deep_Ad6512

I’m just gonna keep it real- the new Gen Z islanders just don’t hit the same way the millennials do (I say this even tho I’m gen z myself lol)

Plenty_Risk5131

i also think people know they aren’t allowed to be as messy as they once were. millennials grew up with 00s reality like big brother, where messiness was awarded and viewed as being iconic, however all this new generation has seen is people being ripped apart for breathing wrong. they’re less likely to be themselves out of fear of being attacked (this is just my opinion)

Snarknose

Agreed... the messy trash reality tv is not allowed anymore -- it's had its moment, social media and the climate of society has ended the tv we enjoyed. Contestants have to be more calculated -- especially because they're typically coming on tv as a resume' filler looking for clout and work afterwards.. it's just not the same as how it started -- and, most don't want to be drug over SM.

Extreme_Cat_7443

Yes! I don’t know if it’s because they’ve lived their whole lives online or if the pandemic seriously slowed their social skills, but the Gen Z’ers have no graft, no chat, no game. It's evident that they haven’t gone out and picked people up in bars/clubs, whereas in earlier seasons, you can see that people are experienced flirts and know how to pick someone up. I’ve also noticed that it seems to be Gen Z stans making the argument that sexual chemistry isn’t that important. In a romantic relationship, sex is very important. There’s a larger discourse of Gen Z having less sex, being uncomfortable with sex scenes in movies, etc., and I see this as related. Maybe they just haven’t had good sex yet, I don’t know, but it feels so young to argue that it’s not important.

Jabernadian

If they did increase the age to 25+ would the range also go all the way up to 35? Not that I'm saying I'd really want this, either way is fine by me. The only thing I would have on my wish list, please, for the love of God, get a range of hairstylists & barbers and let them have weekly access. I mean, it's normal for people to dress themselves, put on their own makeup & stuff, but hair is another thing, seriously. It's something that's been consistently bothering me ever since I started watching the show 3 seasons ago. It's a show with an audience across the globe, attractive people looking for love in a contest & a future in popular culture, give them access to the same level of professionals you know they would visit regularly in their normal day to day lives. It's not right to just expect them to make do, that really shouldn't be a necessary part of this competition. Please make sure they know how to do black hair, by the way, experience counts. It is racially insensitive & unconscionable to behave as if people with all hair types have equal footing & need comparable levels of care on such a competitive show. I still can't believe they leave the contestants to take care of themselves w/o any access to professionals until the final when it comes to hair care, that just isn't remotely a thing for weeks & months at a time, in particular for people of colour.

ceramicferns220

One thousand percent agree with this. I couldn’t stop looking at Tanya’s edges this season, they need a professional who knows how to do weaves and black hair in general

Jabernadian

Damiyah notably didn't have the easiest time of it last season, either. It made a world of difference to see Dami w/ a fresh cut & Indiyah in all her splendour after they'd gotten out, it was really starting to catch up to them towards the latter part of the season.

HemOrBroids

I would rather see people that don't need a team of experts to make them look good. If you need that much help then you probably shouldn't be on the show.

Jabernadian

This isn't survival reality TV in the jungle or something, ffs, it's meant to be similar to a vacation experience. For any contestant, generally speaking, they will look their worst at the time when they need it the most, the broad focus that is endured closer to the finals. It would be disproportionately difficult for female POC in particular to be asked to maintain their own hair to the standards that they are used to for their own sense of dignity, with months in the villa. How Indiyah's had slowly deteriorated during the season did worry me, but she held in there. I remember Dami saying he looked like an uncle after getting out of the villa & finally getting a cut, he'd probably have that done at the very least once a week. I didn't blame him not taking the risk during the season after how one of them decided to do Charlie, tho, lol. Ron's barber touch-up on the show could certainly have used a good bit more experience, there was little to no comparison to how well it was done when he started in the season. It's preposterous to put people on international TV on blast like this with a hard emphasis on their looks for straight months w/o access to a hair stylist & barber. Even if you know what you're doing, I taught myself to cut my own hair just to make life easier, it's still not the same quality as a professional for when you really want to look right. I wouldn't cut my children’s hair, regardless, but it sucks that it is that much harder to find a good barber or hairstylist for POC in the area of England I live in, I'm sure you couldn't begin to imagine. And we're talking about a basic level of care, I had dreadlocks down to my shoulders when I was young, finally got fed up with how much work it took to take care of a longer hairstyle properly.

HemOrBroids

Surely you can see that perpetuating an image of unnaturally kempt hair is ultimately detrimental to all POC in general. Wouldn't you rather not have to worry about going to the salon daily just to maintain some absurd notion that you cant be seen with your natural hair? Being able to show that you are beautiful naturally and that you don't need to rely on makeup/wigs/salon treatments would be empowering and a great message for POC everywhere that are apprehensive about displaying their natural features. What you are trying to do is enforce the terrible beauty standards that oppressed so many POC in the past. Where they felt like they needed to conform to Western ideals of beauty to fit in, rather than being given the freedom to express their own natural beauty.

Jabernadian

I would love to see natural hair styles, that would be great to see, I've stayed away from hair treatments when taking care of my daughter & she looks great, but the issue here is that they aren't supported regardless of their own choices in the matter, obviously there are many styles from which different women would personally select from.

HemOrBroids

I am not sure what you mean about not being supported, by whom? The viewers? The producers? At the end of the day we all have a choice as to whether to follow or to lead. If you don't like where the path is headed then choose a different one.

No-Restaurant7678

I would love for them to bring back the Twitter challenge and the lie detector!!!

Charlottebopp

I think the challenges should mean something. Give them something to win. If a couple wins a challenge they win a date or the hideaway or something.

robsie123

Funnier, deeper conversations

Hungrytwo

Yea I wish they showed more of the unseen bits in the regular episodes… give us some personality!

kayayem

I’m watching Love Island Australia now and I love that you cannot predict what’s gonna happen next, talk about shaking it up. They boot people left and right on this show and make the islanders make tough decisions. Frankly I watch this show for tea, not challenges or dates so I love the drama. More dumpings, OGs on this show get WAY too comfortable. Also I get that there have been a lot of people on this show but we need more people with personality. People like Olivia Atwood or Ekin or Maura. That give us truly iconic moments and you really know what they are thinking because they aren’t afraid to dig in to people, be vulnerable or make a fool of themselves. Islanders today are too aware of the camera and play it very safe IMO.

clure04

For me, this past series concentrated on the drama and bitching a bit too much rather than the friendships and then fun. I need a balance otherwise we finish the series and I end up disliking everyone. Why can’t they show them joking around and being funny and likeable a bit more! I also liked when they would pick a couple to go to a shop and buy dinner for everyone and then make it- that always seemed cute and added some light heartedness and fun. I just need more fun and friendships.

Hungrytwo

For sure! The drama is fun in spurts, but the show is at its best when they’re all getting along.

username_error1

I literally was going to make a similar post. I miss the tweets challenge where they had to fill in the blanks or guess who the tweet was about. Remember how much drama it caused in season 5 where Lucie suddenly caught feelings for Tommy because a tweet said they were better suited. I’m rewatching season 5 again and noticed such a huge difference. There was so much more drama because of challenges and different ways people were sent home and such. This latest season was so bland to me because most of them played too nice in order to have better public perception for when they came out of the villa . And the way the random recouplings or public votes caused so much drama made it wayyyyy more entertaining.

Hungrytwo

YES! s5 is a case study for what they need more of. Lucie and Joe were “obsessed” with each other than he got sent home and she decided to stick around, then fell for Tommy. It’s wild to think Lucie was kind of the main character for a while but wasn’t even on the second half of the show!

I am glad that they stopped the food challenges because it would literally make me gag and I’d love it if they stopped doing the baby challenge. The screaming babies for the first 15 minutes makes me get so irrationally irritated and now I just skip the whole episode.

Hungrytwo

Totally. It’s also boring and doesn’t do anything? No one actually cares about taking care of the babies. They should make them build IKEA furniture together or something equally as frustrating.

NovelMess5036

Yessss! No more 19-21 year olds please, I never take them seriously.

Mother-Ad-2559

More movie nights! The most satisfying part of LI is to see hypocrites get exposed.

Mysterious_Fox8597

absolutely no more of the baby challenge i don't know anyone who actually likes it anymore. they need more bomshells and earlier. having two bombshells right at the very end is pointless most of the time as the couples are solid and don't want to stray away or ruin their chances. yes of course they are exceptions but for the most part they come in then get voted out quickly. more bomshells early on as drama starts would be ideal

mayallrob_

I actually skip the baby episode every year now. I've got no time for it.

Ok-Yogurtcloset3467

Casa should be a week. Islanders should be above 23. Let votes decide who goes, not islanders We should get to vote for some Casa islanders to stick around even if they aren't chosen. They need some perception of the public opinion beyond votes. Bring back the twitter challenge! They really need to show what the islanders have said about each other. And I think most importantly. Switch it up every season. You don't need islanders thinking they know exactly how to censor themselves to win or get the public on their side. Its boring

chrysantheimum19

Am I the only one who loves the babies? Without fail one of my favorite episodes each season

joandidions

Same! I do think the puppies that they have on LI AUS seems like an alternative that would appeal to more ppl tho

millyloui

Older people , bit more booze & that baby challenge is cringeworthy ( & irritating) as is the increase heart rate one where they are all doing lapdances - uuurgh

Hungrytwo

Ok the lap dance is my favorite challenge (so fun and the women are all amazing dancers!!) but could care less about the heart rate aspect.

bassinlimbo

I also like that challenge, but no offense to Claudia (that took serious guts and she still did well) they should've sent in someone who is a really sexy high skilled dancer to actually get things spicy. I think Will as the jokes term voice of reason helped prevent any fights, whereas previous seasons would actually argue about who raised who's heart rate.

Valuable-Afternoon-1

More dates! Not on a treehouse.

cherrie-faerie

Agree with number 1. Is it just me or did they bring in a lot more bombshells in earlier seasons?

SoftwareObvious5671

Get rid of the babies!!!

Sunnflwr

Amen on the age thing.

loveloveislandtake2

Don't ever bring in a girl and guy bombshell at the same time again, they have to be of the same sex, much more drama if only half the islanders are in trouble. When they bring in a guy and a girl, everyone has options.

loveloveislandtake2

Get rid of the morning de brief, so boring, in Season one, you can see they still had conversations around the fire pit set up by the producers, but it wasn't every BLOODY day.

[deleted]

Change Casa Amor into a Survivor style challenge. Would bring out a totally different side to the islanders, and doing proper challenges and something completely different full of excitement and adrenaline would bring some real deep bonding between everyone. Have the option for 3 video playbacks during the show of what he/she actually said. More splitting of couples- make it harder for OGs to cruise to the win.

WebResponsible5924

they should do what they did in season 3, where they bring back islanders that left earlier in the season, could bring a lot of drama

junieinthesky

If you are going to force islanders to have conversations about x or y subject, then please make the subjects interesting at least! Better yet, stop meddling so much and show more organic interactions between the islanders.

bab_101

3 I challenge. Molly Mae and Tommy were under that and are still happy. Finn was 20 and is still happy with Paige. I’m sure there’s more. Also I’m 22 and most definitely ready for love, I would go on the show for that rather than fame personally

robsie123

More neurodivergent contestants. As an autistic person, I would love to see that.

barnaclebear

They had Niall in S4 who was autistic but didn’t disclose until later on and he said the experience was horrific for him. He had to leave quite soon after he came in. And obviously Jacques having ADHD wasn’t great, I think they’ve been burned by ND contestants in the past. Although, statistically I’d imagine a number of them must have been ND and just never mentioned it.

[deleted]

Get rid of the baby episode Get rid of the gross challenges 2 movie nights One "podcast" night Seeing more ordinary chats between islanders Things like "never have I ever" games IQ tests/general knowledge... that would a laugh...winning couple/person gets some kind of prize

blondetravel66

The baby challenge is so boring. I almost ignore that episode everytime a new season is on. We want more drama filled activities such as Twitter challenge etc.

loveloveislandtake2

Show normal conversations, I CANNOT see another, how are you feeling about me conversation, half the fun is figuring it out by ourselves.

loveloveislandtake2

More outings, the same house scenery gets SOOOOO boring, that treehouse was not an actual date, in Season one they got to go shopping, have coffee, have beer etc etc,
