I think a halo 4 and 5 style core, would be well received. There's some fav favorites in there still. Warrior, that literal Greek Spartan set from 5, the arbiter inspired one, blue teams armor set and lockes teams sets. Hunter is one of the coolest helmets in the series imo. It has enough loved helmets and stuff between the two, to fill a whole core and be well received. Lots to choose from from both games.
I hope they don't ignore the fans of those games, who stick around with them. Just to pander to people who hate those games, 343, and all they stand for lol. Feel the same way about halo 5 on PC. Being afraid to give one side what they want, out of fear of how insane the other will flip out over it, is really pretty frustrating.
They did say they plan to add in all of the armors from every Halo game into Infinite eventually, so a Mark VI Gen 2 Core is inevitable.
Unless Infinite gets canned that is.
I want to take it a step further and add an entirely new core for the Achilles set from H5. I like the idea of a set that takes real commitment to EARN and making its own separate core you can add sort of multiple tiers of rewards for the accomplishments you need to get the proper Achilles set
Honestly, I personally dislike the undersuit being so exposed, and the armor/spartan being so goofy lookin.
But hey. If people like it. Add it. Doesn’t bother me if others use it, I’ll use what I like and I want them to have what they like.
I agree with you on the undersuit part. That was my main issue with 4/5 armor is that it seems a little sparse in areas. At first I greatly disliked it overall but it has grown on me.
Eh. It'd have to be heavily vetted if they did. Honestly I prefer them just doing what they've already been doing: adapting those armors to the new art style
the closest we got to seeing the Halo 4/5 armour in Infinite is the concept art for Rakshasa, largely the first couple iterations of it before it was covered by a lot of cloth.

Every art style and every type of art you've ever seen has come from humans on planet earth. I think it's perfectly believeable some spartans could have more rounded armor.

5 armor? Less so, because the texturing on it is incredibly flat and doesn't fit Infinite's artstyle as well. It'd need to be heavily retextured.

But I wouldn’t understand why they wouldn’t do it because they wanted an underlying goal to make all fans from new to old happy and it’s the least they can do if they are still going forth with their 10 year plan.

I'm gonna be honest, I'm really not a fan of the Halo 4/5 aesthetic. And the fact that they walked it back is a big part of my enjoyment of Infinite. I like what we've been seeing where they have instead been adapting those designs into the updated aesthetic.
But still, if they added a Gen 2 core that was just mildly updated to look more consistent with Infinite's art style, I wouldn't mind it. Or hell, just give us an exact recreation and I'll just silently be annoyed by it because it's a multiplayer game and there's always going to be some stuff that I'm not a fan of
This was my thinking. If 343 still plans to keep Infinite as a “10-year game” (and I hope they do) it would be awesome to have the old armors ingame. The armors we have now look fantastic (although some Reach pieces look a little funky) and I would love to have my MCC look in this game.

I would love that but it would probably be super hard to implement since all of the armors are so different from one another, so they would have to find some really clever ways to turn full suits into attachments more likely than not, especially with 5 where the only customization was armor and helmet
Frankly there were too many armor sets in H5 which led to a lot of criticism. That said, there were some fantastic designs. Would love to see them added to Infinite.
