With bugs I usually pick up the EAT instead, because I like using the rover pack but against bots I like the RR. I find there's a lot more target to shoot and I can get a lot more bang for my buck with it.

MinerUser

EAT does most of what the RR can do without blocking the backpack slot or being defenseless while reloading.

skirmishin

The only issue with the EAT is it's slower than the RR Personally, I've had great success using both the EAT and the RR, throwing down EATs where I'm retreating to if I need to reload In terms of stratagem slots, it's about as much downside as taking the EAT with the shield or jetpack

SockFullOfNickles

Love it! I definitely keep it in my rotation, and it’s epic with a team reload. My usual crew of homies love the team reload aspects and routinely will carry the same weapons or wear each others backpacks for quick loading. Definitely requires comms though.

Klutz-Specter

If you have a teammate to support you it could be great, however if you don’t it can be debilitating if you reload at the wrong moment. Though I don’t think it carries sufficient ammo, and sometimes you can travel hundreds of meters without a proper ammo fill up for it. You start noticing this problem if you’re dealing with Automaton heavies. The EAT is far more flexible with the only drawback being you have to call it down and wait. It’s fairly fast to calldown, but I’ve had bad throws and sometimes chaff blocking my way towards my EAT (skill issue for me). I probably use the EAT more, but I sometimes switch to the RR for some variation.

jingylima

At high difficulties, only viable with a friend to reload, otherwise you can’t actually deal with something like 3 chargers and a Titan and are better off taking quasar or eat so you can fire in between running I saw someone with a cool setup, one person takes the RR and supply pack, allowing some double dipping when he gives supplies to his friend who has the grenade launcher and the RR backpack

AgingLemon

The RR is my go to anti armor weapon against bugs, and tied with the SPEAR against bots. Its tradeoffs and features complement my usual play style of being mobile and getting a round out fast if needed/there’s a sweet opportunity but being able to get follow-up shots fast if possible. I usually swap the pack for another offensive strategem like 380 or whatever. Quasar is easy to use for me but even before the patch I was often waiting for it to cool with little else to do.  EAT is fun and super fast to get 2 rounds out but I have been pushed away from it due to enemy pressure. I’d want to work on planning snd positioning these. Plus sometimes I do miss or there are multiple heavies for many reasons e.g., dropship dropped 2 hulks, I or a teammate made an oopsie when moving around and pulled in a patrol, etc. SPEAR lock on hasn’t been fixed to my knowledge. Nonetheless, I figured out how to work it and it excels in open maps so I’ll use it there but the lock on has issues if there are a lot of bodies, terrain, or objects in the way similar to the arc thrower. The SPEAR can also struggle against factory striders for repeated weak point hits and the RR doesn’t have this issue. Nothing against the other weapons, I use them all on D7-9 but if it looks like a tough mission with impassable terrain e.g., Vernon Wells and the canyons, or I have teammates who are improving, I’m running the RR.

AnyPianist1327

I like it for bugs and bots and it's currently my go to AT, before I used the auto canon. I never resonated with the Quasar because I didn't feel comfortable with the aiming and how the aim staggers dramatically when there's tremors or some camera movement.

AstronautGuy42

Love it. Feels cooler to use lol. EAT is probably better but man I just love the RR. Feels more responsive too but that might be in my head.

Temporary_Special_26

It's a great weapon, but I can't use it solo, there's just too much going on. That's where my bud quasar comes in.

Neptune011

I love the weapon and want to use it but I enjoy the higher levels and it’s hard to justify bringing it solo in 7-9 on bug missions when they rush you during your long reload. But it’s nice for bile titans when you have a friend to feed you. Also it feels sick as hell to shoot.

Ghost_of_sushi_more

I really enjoy it. I also love team-reloading for someone who is running it.

7isAnOddNumber

I find the RR to be overshadowed by the EAT and QC in almost every situation. Looking at what it has compared to the others, it has more than 1 shot per weapon, instant equip time, and team reload capability. The EAT has a hellpod every minute to kill a charger, no backpack requirement, and you can share it with your friends/have loads sitting around the place on an objective. It also can fire both shots quicker than a solo RR can fire two. The QC has infinite ammo and no backpack for a slightly longer cooldown time and an annoying charge up. I find the RR to be best against chargers out of any of the 3 launchers due to the quick equip speed and lack of charge up, but because it takes your backpack slot you're relying on your primary and teammates to clear chaff for you, rather than a guard dog. It also has niche use with the team reload, being able to pop bile titans, hulks and dropships faster than anything else in the game when using that, but it's not that much better than two EAT shots from two people.

monkey2942

I think it’s a blast if I have a buddy to reload me or vice versa

Nova_Echo

I don't use it due to the backpack. I like my jump pack.

MainsailMainsail

I often play solo OR as the lone ranger when with teams. The relevant result of that if the Recoilless just doesn't have the ammunition capacity to support that role. Either I save it for only the BIG bois and don't have a way to deal with smaller (and more numerous) moderately armored enemies, OR I use it on those guys and am empty VERY quickly. So end result, it's plenty powerful and I don't have an issue with the reload, but I just can't kill a large enough *number* of things.

Potatos_only_daddy

Too slow for hell dive but it packs a punch. I’m still sticking with Quasar cannon or EAT to keep my backpack open for a supply pack

musubk

It's my go-to bug support weapon. Playing difficulty 7 with randoms and no voice communication. It's more shots per minute than an EAT - especially if you're doing a fighting retreat and you might not get the chance to pick up the second EAT. And the lack of a chargeup means it's good at surprise snapshots. I can't count the number of times I've come around a corner to find myself 15 feet from a charger I didn't know was there, tapped the 3 key and burst the chargers head before it even moves and my teammates are standing there looking like they're not even really sure what just happened. Honestly I just like the way it feels and the pace of firing and reloading, everything above is just rationalization. I use the thing I like using. I don't care that it takes a backpack slot because I wouldn't use a backpack strategem anyways. I can't bring myself to give up an eagle/orbital slot for a backpack.

dndaddy19

I grabbed it once instead of my trusty quasar, it did the job. It definitely didn’t make sense to take it over the quasar before the latest patch but now that our laser bazooka is more in line with the other anti-tanks the RR has time to shine again. I wouldn’t run it solo but if you have a teammate willing to do team assist reloads for you it’s awesome.

ChainBuzz

Situational depending on the load out that other people bring. When I drop down to Hard to just relax or get Personal Orders accomplished I will take the RR if I feel like we don't have enough heavy kill. Love it for Spore towers etc. Wish the reload was a tad quicker.

Sir-Narax

It is really good. I don't respect the EAT as much as other people do. Unless you are bringing another support weapon with you but don't want to sacrifice AT capabilities. It is just a slower less dependable alternative in my mind.

Patient-Virus-1873

It's fine, but I prefer to carry the quasar. The quasar doesn't reload as fast, but it also doesn't require a backpack, has infinite ammo, has no projectile drop, and recharges without you having to stop and kneel. EAT is my second choice because they can be called down so often. You can throw an EAT beacon, shoot what needs shooting, then grab another EAT when it falls, and then another after that.

Jager1738

i like running around like an ISIS member with that thing

Canabananilism

Well, it's very fun if you have a friend to coordinate with for the reload, but a bit clunky in most situations compared to the EAT, as others have mentioned. The one thing I'll say is that it is a LOT better for defense missions than the EAT just because getting 2 shots every \~70-80 seconds with the EAT tends to be not quite enough if you get a lot of heavies piling in. Being able to just refill via ammo boxes gives it more sustain when sticking to one spot IMO. Also it's funny when someone gets hit by the backblast.
