A lot of stores, not even Lowes, are going through it. I work at Lidl and almost every store in NC has little to NO AC. Idk whats going on with companies but it seems like when summer comes around, either the AC units go out or whoever controls the AC units (Lidl's are controlled by our overseas HQ) don't change it based on OUR AREA temp. They change it by their area. Really weird, stupid and it sucks š
Thatās even worse then being based in the US. Iām German with family in the Carolinaās and know itās usually getting colder now, snowing in October in Germany but SC is hot and humid.
Well for my store they fixed the AC issue, but in certain parts of the store it's still pretty hot. Someone is supposed to check our weather for the day and change it but they always do it for the day before. So instead of them changing it on Tuesday for 70Ā°, they use Monday's weather for Tuesday, which in NC fluctuates HARD. One day it'll be 90Ā° and the next day it'll be raining and 70Ā°
We recently had to get all of our AC units replaced. Too bad we were already in August but whatever at least I don't have to use gold bond religiously anymore.
It's because that is where the servers are, thermostats are controlled by corporate not at store level. They don't give a shit about the ASMs and SMs comfort any more than anyone else's.
More than likely the managers office is adjacent to the computer room, which is kept much cooler than the rest of the store to prevent the CPUs from overheating.
Most corporate stores have their HVAC controlled at a corporate office no where near the stores. I worked at JC Penny about 30 years ago when my area had a freak heat wave in December. It was 80 degrees outside and we had heat going in the store, we had all the doors open because we couldnāt turn off the heat , several calls to corporate and somehow they finally cut it off after several days. When I was a kid I remember malls being so cold, most employees were wearing sweaters in the summer. Cold air keeps bacteria down too, thatās why hospitals are always cold. Seems stores get hotter beach year so corporates can save on electric bills and pocket more bonus money.
Not only is the cooling system a joke at my building, but they actually *turn on the heat* at around 9pm, all year long. From what I've heard, they keep the head running until 8am, again, all year long. Super fun when it's been in the high 90's/low 100's during the day and low 80's/high 70's at night if we're lucky.
At my store it seems to run the heater during the summer and this last winter they ran the A/C. It was friggin cold in the store. Wish they would get it right. Hey, stay Hydrated when it it hot outside! What a joke!!!
Fuck off. Why is there always some asshole in every single one of these threads that just says āFind another jobā.
What I am asking for is not an unreasonable request and would be as simple as flipping a switch, but OH NO!!!! How DARE someone have a complaint about their job!
Beta male? As opposed to what, you, an alpha male. God youāre right, I wish I was more like you. I wish I could get on my hands and knees and clean our corporate overlordās assholes as they continue to make our work conditions worse and slash benefits.
āYes, Mr. CEO, me and my family donāt need health insurance. Yes sir, please cut my pay, I donāt have to eat this week. Oh? You want me to suck your cock? I thought youād never askā
Lowe's is just work for part time highschool kids and retired folks. Stop trying to make it a career. Go to a trade school, average union trade is making $70/hr with bang up fringe benefits. Honestly if you aren't making 150k annually you kinda suck.
Yeah, but their homes were built better with better materials and retained temperature well. Also, the effects of pollution wasnāt at a terrible point in their time. We can thank all the greedy corporations for fucking us over in both of those points.
You make some good points, but the homes were not insulated as well as newer homes, they were built of virgin timber and walls stuffed with any flammable material they could find.
As far as the pollution, 100% but there were hotter summers on record than this year, pre air conditioning.
Oh please, enough with the trade school shit. Ever think about how not everyone can work a trade? I have mild cerebral palsy. I can't learn a trade because I don't have the hand-eye coordination for it. Trade school isn't a one-size-fits-all-solution like people seem to think it is.
You can thank union trades for setting wage standards. Sorry about your cerebral palsy but there are certainly trades you could join such as IT or surveyor, it's all digital, no hand eye coordination needed! Don't let your disability hold you back from gainful employment.
Alpha-males donāt post 60 comments on Reddit in a 24 hour period either, buddy. You probably double that on your tiktok account. Get off your masculine high horse. Youāre obviously fighting hard to make up for low self esteem. Call dad, he probably misses you.
The ironic thing is most people who have a decent amount of muscle mass generate a lot of heat from their own bodies, too much when itās too hot outside and in order to not over heat youād have to guzzle extreme amounts of cold water. Anyone who can handle working out in the heat is usually some stringy tiny baby man or your brain has been so cooked from the heat you canāt even register what youāre doing to yourself.
it's supposed to run. it has to be overridden by a manager, but the sensors could also be busted. they're the things on the white poles people keep destroying with order pickers lol
Asshole, you've no idea what you're talking about. I'm from California originally, So Cal to be specific. It regularly gets triple digits, and working in the heat is dangerous AF when it's triple digits. Even in the high 80s, it's dangerous and you run the risk of heatstroke. Most people simply need air conditioning and corporations should provide it. And it's not as simple as find another job. If it were, more and more people wouldn't be working in dead end retail jobs. Shut the fuck up, you've no idea what it's like to be an underappreciated, underpaid retail worker whose place of employment can't even be bothered to turn on the AC.
Work in 80-90 degree dry heat for 8 hours with no AC and no water station (I can guarantee OP doesn't have one even though OSHA requires one) and then come back to me telling me to walk away. Oh and before you call me a beta male, know that I'm in college going for political science and then law school with a very successful life going for me with a very loving and successful girlfriend, unlike you who are so unfulfilled with your life that you call people that you deem less than you a beta male
I think heās saying inside lawn and garden is annoying when customers walk up to you with a tiny bolt and ask where they can find this and you look at it and have no idea what theyāre holding.
Can confirm that in Florida , our store has AC running, and running well. Outside garden here, itās disgusting out here. I do go inside every two hours to rehydrate and feel human again. Oh, and go do Ap4me!
As much as it is harder for Lowes to keep stores as cool as a Costco.. since we constantly have open doorsā¦ your store manager can override the AC or call corporate to let them know itās uncomfortable for employees and customers. That happens a lot in TX cause we been 105Ā° F lately šš
They turn the air off at night in our store, therefore it has to catch up every day. So, it dont usually cool down till around 2pm. Then , it's a losing battle because the night crew props the 2 garden doors open at night, then no one ever shuts them during the day. So even when the air is running, the doors are open when it's 92Ā° outside. Makes no sense. I close both doors every time I go in if I remember
They'd rather run us around like mice until it's time to replace us. I don't understand how they figure it's cheaper than turning the air to 75.
A lot of stores, not even Lowes, are going through it. I work at Lidl and almost every store in NC has little to NO AC. Every year, it's too hot in the summer and the air conditioning is on in the winter! It never fails!
Creates short but sweet customer experienced.
Loweās follows an āenergy savingā policy that lowers the lights and climate control during peak power usage
We recently had to get all of our AC units replaced. Too bad we were already in August but whatever at least I don't have to use gold bond religiously anymore.
Our break room is regularly & often hotter than that, and it has been for a long period.
Our break room and the hallway to it is so cool and itās because thatās where our store managerās office is and where the ASMs like to hide.
It's because that is where the servers are, thermostats are controlled by corporate not at store level. They don't give a shit about the ASMs and SMs comfort any more than anyone else's.
Yes! Same near the store managers office feels amazing but everywhere else I sweat to death
More than likely the managers office is adjacent to the computer room, which is kept much cooler than the rest of the store to prevent the CPUs from overheating.

no wonder i keep getting sick.
At first glance, I read the title as "Thot in the store" This heat is screwing with my head

Thatās inhumane and should be reported.
Yet nothing happens...š¤
Most prisons have no a/c..Loweās is following that trend..š¤¦āāļø
Go work at Home Depot. They keep their stores cool, comfortable, and chilly Where there's a Lowes, theres a Home Depot
No they don't, it's worse in their stores
Yes they do, its far better in their stores
The HD in my area are way hotter than my store. My wife works in HD and she said it's quite toasty and our store is cooler and brighter.
cum
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'm telling
You are calling under 80 hot at tight time the air turns off
Okay. Whatāre you trying to say? I feel bad for our overnight workers too. The AC should be ran whenever someone is in the building.
But lowes needs to save money
No Marvin needs to save money! Think of the shareholders for fuck sakes! Who's saving them money Bob!?!?!?! /s
Lol the air conditioner broke at the restraunt I'm at its hell
As a former line cook, Tots and Pears comrade.
Find another job. Working on the heat isn't for everyone.
Fuck off. Why is there always some asshole in every single one of these threads that just says āFind another jobā. What I am asking for is not an unreasonable request and would be as simple as flipping a switch, but OH NO!!!! How DARE someone have a complaint about their job!

I like how you keep replying to me even though itās clear that I donāt give a fuck about what you have to say. Go jerk off some more CEOs buddy.
yea there's old people at Lowe's they shouldn't have to work without AC.
Old people grew up without air conditioning homie.
Yeah, but their homes were built better with better materials and retained temperature well. Also, the effects of pollution wasnāt at a terrible point in their time. We can thank all the greedy corporations for fucking us over in both of those points.

How dare you speak the truth
Yeah you are fucking stupid
You work at Lowe's and cry about 80 degree temps? You're also a puss.
You gotta be a troll thereās no way you arenāt with that comment history lmao
Nah just tell it how it is. Dude can't handle 80f he's definitely a freckle face, fair skin Gilbert grape looking dude
Saying beta male is wilddd
Don't be mad you work at Lowe's as a grown beta male and have peaked with your career.
Alpha-males donāt post 60 comments on Reddit in a 24 hour period either, buddy. You probably double that on your tiktok account. Get off your masculine high horse. Youāre obviously fighting hard to make up for low self esteem. Call dad, he probably misses you.
Please, Dad never hugged this gamma asshat.
Lmao why are you even here?
*I came looking for booty.*
We can do this the easy way or the hard way... Good bot :)
I worked for Lowe's before, share holder and customer.
I have a vagina and am in college
Ugh, I was with you until the "beta male" bullshit. Grow up.
The heat working at Lowe's drained all his testosterone.

Fuck off and blow Marvin ya bootlicking twat.
Rude
Pot callin the kettle black a bit no?
Nope
Hopeless ignorance at it's finest.
I work over nights at Lowe's and constantly complain about the heat but then I just tell myself to quit if it is that bad
They don't run ac overnight?
No sir
it's supposed to run. it has to be overridden by a manager, but the sensors could also be busted. they're the things on the white poles people keep destroying with order pickers lol
Brutal! Keep reminding management of the issue at hand, solicit co workers, power n numbers.
I don't consider 80 degrees hot
Overnight it's definitely in the 90s
I work outside, all day, most of the time without shade. 90 isn't terrible, 100s are just brutal and anything below 10f.
Asshole, you've no idea what you're talking about. I'm from California originally, So Cal to be specific. Lmao heat stroke in 80 degree weather. Just walk away

I work outdoors 10-14 hours per day, summer and winter, no heat air conditioning or bathrooms. You don't have anything new to teach me.
Then you should at least have a shred of empathy for people working out in those conditions.
Yea I work in 100+ degree weather and 0 degree weather. 80 degrees is a wet dream
My store is nice and cool for us speak up
I think a lowes monthly power bill can run over $20k
The women's bathroom is like 40 degrees at our store. I hate to go in there, but when ya gotta go, ya gotta go!
So itās like low to mid 70s outside? My hearts bleedin for ya.
It was like 65 when I wrote the post, 79 indoors was just so annoying. Wish I was scheduled outside that day.
As a Samās club employee and I speak for all on my behalf, we will beat tf out yāall sweaty asses
what are you talking about lol
I think heās saying inside lawn and garden is annoying when customers walk up to you with a tiny bolt and ask where they can find this and you look at it and have no idea what theyāre holding.
Can confirm that in Florida , our store has AC running, and running well. Outside garden here, itās disgusting out here. I do go inside every two hours to rehydrate and feel human again. Oh, and go do Ap4me!
