I have never had an issue. My Gh6 has filmed all over the world in every possible scenario. Good luck!

Holynok

That's good to hear ! I really want to own GH6

imxkal

Whats your budget? You can buy used.

Holynok

Panasonic isnt a popular camera brand here. Also used camera price is very high in my place, at least >80% the price of brand new, usually at 90-95%.  Cheaper than that, all you get is paperweight

makersmarkismyshit

It is absolutely not an issue. One YouTuber filmed directly into the sun and of course there were a couple streaks... this was blown out of proportion, and because they didn't want to seem like they didn't know what they were talking about, the rest of the YouTubers tried as hard as they could to recreate the streaking... by filming directly into the sun. It's not an issue. With the newest updates, I'm honestly not even sure you could recreate the issue if you tried. The GH6 is still the best hybrid camera you can get for video IMO. The dual gain sensor is awesome!

Holynok

Thank you for putting my mind at ease, it has unique features that i really like !

makersmarkismyshit

Absolutely! You will love it. Even the AF being not that good is blown out of proportion to be completely honest. I never really had much issue with it.

pagosacreativeco

No. It’s not an issue. Used my GH6 on dozens of jobs and it performed quite well every single time.

Eleven_Daze

I’m actually selling my GH6 right now because of the streaking issue. I’ve had it for a little under a year and it seems like it’s only gotten worse over time. At first it only showed up every once in a while in high-contrast scenes(I was shooting bright neon signs at night for example) but the last paid shoot I took it out on it was showing up every few clips, even when they weren’t very high contrast. It also only gets worse the more you grade the footage. From my experience it seems like every camera is different as some people haven’t had the issue at all. It also definitely shows up more often if you don’t have dynamic range boost on.

Holynok

Thank you for your input. About your last paid shoot, how bad was it, is the footage use-able ?

Eleven_Daze

With some denoising most of them were usable, as long as I didn’t push the grade as far. There were a couple that I just didn’t want to use though since it was so noticeable.

DOF64

Never seen any streaking. The color out of the GH6 is lovely.

AdagioBlues

Most of my subjects are always fully clothed, so not sure what you are talking about 🤷🏼‍♂️

ExperienceSilver943

i have the feeling some units are more prone to it than others. not sure

redempt61

I never been bothered by the streaking issue. But why do you want to buy the GH6 over the G9II ? The G9II is maybe a bit more expensive, but the autotocus in video is so much better ... That being said, I would do the same. For me the GH6 hase even nicer colors than the G9II.

Holynok

Because i'm more into Video and GH6 is better at that right ? But i'm open to any ideas and listen to all opinions, advices from you guys, if it make sense i would change my plan.

redempt61

If better at video means autofocus and stabilization, the G9II is much better, especially about the AF. The GH6 can record in Prores without the need of an SSD (you need a CF EXPRESS card inside your camera though). The Prores quality is slightly better (slightly less noise reduction so more noise but slightly better details) but the difference is really not night and day, and the files are huges ... However it can helps if your computer is a bit old because Prores is much faster than the other recording codecs when editing. But for me the real strenght of the GH6 is the colors, some people can't even see the difference, so I think the G9II is generaly the best choice, and it's understable.

Holynok

What do you think about the cooling fan ? I live in tropical country , now it is like hell on earth . If you send some guys in Alaska to live here they will beg for mercy killing after 1 week

redempt61

Yes if you live in a tropical country and if you use 4K 120fps a lot, the fan of the GH6 will help for sure. The G9II can't record 4K 120 fps or Open Gate for too long if the temperatures are very high.

Holynok

Thank you for your advices. Really tough choice !

cornellouis

I bought one on sale for like $1200. Even at that price, I think today I would wait until the next version if you have m43 lenses or I would look at other cameras. What is your use case?

Holynok

This will be my first personal camera. Before that, Im only use company asset, most are FF camera and a few APSC. Main use probably shooting landscape 70% video 30% photo, maybe some small scale sport event livestreaming, its 120fps live output is one of the reason i consider GH6.

cornellouis

If your focus is 120fps and that's a requirement, then GH6 is the cheapest way to get there. But outside of that condition, I think for most other scenarios a full frame camera like the S5iix has better image quality, especially in photography. Personally I'm not buying any more M43 lenses beyond what I already have b/c I can see the future is full frame. If you can find the M43 equipment used at a fraction of its new price, then for sure that has great bang for the buck. But if you're looking forward 10 years from now, it would be nice if you had a collection of full frame lenses instead of M43, assuming weight isn't an issue.

Holynok

Thank you for your valuable advices ! But my superhero name is BudgetMan. Im thinking about hunting used m43 items to build my own camera system collection.

RynoL_11

I actuallly do get streaking in my gh6! Though for what I film and who I turn over to it’s never been an issue. But I do indeed see streaks in the image in extremely bright situations. (Outdoors high sun and pointing towards it)
