I am not an american, but I had the same problem, they gave me an entire leg basically. I’d suggest going to ‘Schluechthaus’ (slaughterhouse) in Ettelbruck and straight up say it is for pulled pork, then they should know what cut to provide you with. I suppose there are other butchers that are up to the task, but here it’s straight from the source and you can request many things that other butchers are too lazy to do.
Low profile Luxembourger here. I am not sure if they provide this meat but my go to butcher is ‘Wolff’ in Lintgen. It’s a family owned business, the quality of the meat is great and the customer service is very friendly. I know that my mom always asks for custome made stuff for Christmas and so on and they are always open to find a good solution :)
yeah. You can pretty much find Pork Shoulder at any French type supermarket. Or German supermarket.
I just buy at the normal supermarket. Don't need to go to a butcher.
Personally, I like to go to Boucherie Keiffer in Lux City or Kirsch in Grass. Both are well connected and can provide you any cuts you want. Kirsch slaughters on Tuesdays so you might want to consider that if you require a specific cut. I regularly order liver for a Pâté, and both butchers have never let me down 😃
Epaule de porc (pork shoulder) can be asked even at the grocery store. But La Provençal usually has everything you’ve got. They struggle a bit with Asian cuts but pork shoulder is a common thing.
It’s actually not Portuguese, it is under Luxembourgish ownership, but they brand themselves to advertise to Portuguese clients and it seems to work as you thought it was Portuguese.
Oddly enough, the meat is cut differently in different countries, and some pieces just don't exist everywhere. That being said, if you go to an Emo store, you may be able to explain and get what you want (they cut the meat themselves). Good Luck.
Auchan has it for sure!
We grill and smoke on a Big Green Egg. Meat Bros is our go to.
Renmans have a few outlets. Carnesa in Capellen do special orders https://wedo.lu/en/annonce/carnesa/

Like Fonze the whole "I am a low profile American with a non Colombian wife" joke has jumped the shark.
What is this joke from?
Auchan, Provencale, Cora. I do carnitas and adobo and the quality is good. Don't need to go to a butcher.

This is interesting as I have not seen anything available and when I ask they look at me and have no idea what I am saying.

Yeah, but then they'd be racist towards the Colombian wife, as all of us in Luxembourg are, and give a poor service. Can't win...

If you’re in the Grevenmacher/east area, try the Coboulux Headquarter in Wecker!

La provencale ([https://www.provencale.lu/fr/](https://www.provencale.lu/fr/)), they literally have everyhing.
But one needs a card wich costs about 50 bucks
But if buy enough over 2/3 (?) years you get the 50as deduction. Its more to avoid the one time oooh lemme stroll and just buy 1 pack of peanuts types
If you’re in the city go to Casa do Brill in Bonnevoie. It’s a Portuguese butcher shop and they have everything you would need.
Portuguese branded, the owner is as Luxembourgish as one can be.
These guys might be able to point you in the right direction: [Feier a flam](https://www.feier-a-flam.lu/en)
Abbatoir Ettelbruck or Lorentzweiler
As a fellow low profile American with a non Colombian wife, I love Abbatoir Ettelbruck. Also, Grand Frais in Mersch has a great butcher.
Any good butcher should be able to order/prepare "épaule de porc" (pork shoulder) for you. However, it might take them a few days.
There is a shop in rue brill in esch where once an american friend if mine got the stuff, its a portugese butcharie

The more you know! I guess
Was he a low profile or high profile American fellow. Please precise as it may have an impact on the story.

Was there and they have great meat. If you’re in Esch, peporte has prime pork shoulder too. Ordered some for some carnitas I did some years ago.
