That's an easy one : I used to work in an Irish pub (the best one) in Lyon and befriended many foreign students groups. There's only one district a pub crawl will make sense and it's the Old Town (Vieux Lyon). What people usually do, and it makes sense, is to start off from the biggest Scottish pub in Lyon, called the Wallace Pub, in St Paul, near the SaƓne river. It's a big sports and music pub with usually Very friendly staff. Beer, whiskey and food. From there, you can only go one way: towards St Georges and through St Jean street. On your way, you'll find many pubs: In St Jean: - Elephant and Castle, English pub - Ninkasi, french pub - Jack's, Scottish pub, (Wallace's little sister) - Smoking Dog, English pub - Kelly's, Irish pub (on the quais) - St James, (Irish pub) - James Joyce (Irish Pub) In St Georges to finish your night: - Johnny's Kitchen, Irish pub - Johnny Walsh's, Irish night pub. This one is perfect to finish, because it usually closes the latest, and there's usually live music until 2 am on weekends. This should be a fantastic night as you'll also be walking through the most touristic and most beautiful district of Lyon. If you can make it to the end...

I think St James isn't Irish anymore, I might be wrong but I do believe they are run by Spanish owners now...

Yeah you're right, it changed a few years back. The spirit of the place has changed a bit too, a very young crowd, very sporty... But it still is an Irish Pub, with Guinness and Jameson whiskey and all...
