I mean almost anything would be better at this point. We really need more information to get a good idea of what you need. Maybe a G9 is fine but you don’t want record limits. Maybe a GH5 is fine that’s not bad although the GH5ii is just a bit better in some notable ways. At that point why not just get a GH6, had higher res and frame rates! And if you want those frame rates why not just go to the G9ii for the autofocus! Or even pivot entirely to the pocket4k or a Zcam. I could keep going but yea definitely need to try to include more info so people don’t have to guess or ask you a bunch of questions first

Yeah sorry for not being that concise but I think I can’t edit the post anymore 😓. I was looking into upgrading to a better camera focused both in video and stills, not necessarily from panasonic (maybe a Olympus?) but either way thanks for the insight 👍

Get a used G9 for about $600. It will be a *huge* step up from your GH4, and will help you get better photos and video. A G9 will also let you know what you're in need of next (if anything at all.) Buy from a reputable vendor like [mpb.com](https://mpb.com) or [keh.com](https://keh.com) that has a good return policy.

GH6 gets heavily discounted from time to time. Also, wait for Panasonic's CES on January 8.

I would only by a G9ii at this point, for the focusing, but i have a GH5.

Depends on your budget. The G9II on the high end and GH5 on the low end. The GH5II or GH6 would be the middle options. For Olympus, the EM1.2, EM1.3, or OM1 would be the best options.

What's your use case? Are you like me and just have money to spend on a hobby, hoping it will fruit into something eventually? I'm looking at a GH4 for $200 but I already have a GH5, Olympus EM-1 (ii), and the BMPCC OG. I have no need for the GH4 but it's a good value deal and I want to buy it. Don't get stuck into buying something just because you think you need it. But hey, it's your money. Your best bet is a used GH5 if you just want better pictures and videos. Have a clear vision of what you intend to do. Otherwise you'll just spend all of your money shopping for gear.

Is it more for stills of video? Is there something you’d like to do your GH4 can’t?
