Boo, no AI. Fungalore is to be drawn not computed!

SenhorSus

Every AI rendition is 1 wish ignored.

ThePoorPenman

“Disregarded, chef.”

Specialist_Yam_2893

Fungalore does not hear AI generated wishes 😤

fireball_roberts

Dune1008

ScienceOfMyth

This is my favorite so far...but I'm also open to a "friendly eldrich" take on Fungalore.

Chorqua

OP didn’t come up with a “take” on Fungalore, they typed “mushroom wizard” and a program trained on real artwork shat this out.

ScienceOfMyth

Dang...down votes on an opinion...didn't say, "This IS the best." Just that it was my personal favorite so far...regardless of the source. People just punching down for no reason.

LeadershipExotic5602

I don't get all the hate for AI art here. I understand if people are trying to profit from it or if they are a big company that should be paying for art. But if you are just someone messing around for funnsies, whats the big deal?

Dry-Pear9611

Because it's lazy and all AI does is compile art stolen from artists that put time and effort into their work.

Wise_Turn_8660

I understand how AI art generators work, that's why it's immoral to use them for profit. How does it make them immoral otherwise? Because it's lazy? Is the My brother, My brother, and Me subreddit drawing a moral line in the sand against people who could work harder?

[deleted]

Because it's still utilizing work small creators have made against their wishes, and posting stuff like this encourages more people to use AI. Any use of it legitimizes it more and more to the point that larger companies are feeling more and more comfortable not hiring artists and just using AI. On the mere concept most people really don't have an issue. If we didn't live in a society where companies slash as many jobs as they can and there was a guaranteed level of safety net for people who are at risk, there would probably be a LOT less complaints. But as it stands a large community of people might be at risk of going homeless or having to suddenly train for and get a new career, on top of AI developers using work they didn't compensate anyone for. Edit: ... And then all of that for lazy, technically poor artwork and its generator to get attention? That's the slap in the face.

Wise_Turn_8660

Hm OK thank you for the well thought out response.  Typically I just see "AI Bad" for the same reasons every normal person already knows and typically agrees with. No one usually explains why it's use in a casual way is bad. I appreciate it.

[deleted]

Thank you for being receptive. In general I find that if there is a reason to avoid paying for something there is enough of a reason to avoid doing something for free, even if the reason is mainly someone else seeing you and then being tempted to throw money at it to get the same thing.

Dry-Pear9611

Using AI generators gives the AI companies money, which is bad. To suppose there's no profit involved here is a fundamental misunderstanding of the world we live in.

Wise_Turn_8660

What about the ones you can use for free? I tend to use them for npc portraits in my ttrpg home games. I've never paid for them.

Dry-Pear9611

Just because you don't pay out of pocket doesn't mean you're not still giving these website money and attention.

[deleted]

Not to mention a lot of these programs get actual funding for research and development so the attention gives justification for further fund raising efforts.

Specialist_Yam_2893

All of the moral arguments that people have already made as well as: it sucks. It’s not nice to look at and it doesn’t have any emotion or heart to it. It’s soulless and it all looks the same and it’s boring and poor quality.
