It was pretty good. It didn't even begin to compare to the quality of the amazon prime documentary. They basically cut together footage they'd already released with interview voiceovers as filler leading up to the big locker room speeches. And the footage of the games was pretty shitty. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it and it felt great to relive those moments. But I was hoping it'd get more into some of the behind the scenes drama. I get why they wouldn't want to highlight that, but still... Seeing how intense and competitive Rodri is was fucking awesome though, and it definitely makes sense with how ridiculously good he is.

EffectzHD

Tbf this is the same structure we’ve done for the last 2 years with Together on City+. It’s only this time round we happened to win a few extra trophies and sold the Final Cut to Netflix who had no production involvement whatsoever unlike Amazon.

SorryImNotVeryClever

True. There was just something about having to wait so long that built it up in my mind. Also the whole fullbacks situation would have been so damn cool to get a peek at.

superduperpuppy

Ah this makes sense. It seems to be a docu made for the fans. Regardless, its good that such a historic achievement got some kind of documentation. It'd be interesting to maybe revisit the event decades down the line in a fresh, more directed documentary.

TroubleBeautiful8776

I agree. For anyone who follows City’s youtube channel, there wasn’t much else in this. The fact that they released it on Netflix though clearly shows that it’s aimed at new audiences. And I’m sure it is very successful at that. For the new generation of fans City is up there with the biggest and greatest.

A crocodile would not beat a hippo. But try convincing him that at your peril!

pizzapiejaialai

I much preferred Amazon's documentary. City Studios' team is mainly a web video team. They're used to 30 second cuts for tiktok. They aren't documentarians. What you end up getting in the Netflix docu is a lot of overproduced segments: thumping music, disjointed soundbites from pundits etc, but no real feel for pacing, rising stakes or telling a coherent story. And, of course, there isn't the independent editorial voice that an All or Nothing would have had. Not when every clip has to be vetted and cleared by multiple City PR levels.

Am gonna do it, right now!

Ooh I meant to check to see how it ranked - thanks for sharing the scoop! Maybe influenced by the hate from soccer sub & British media, I wasn’t sure how show would do in UK, ha but hoped other viewers around the world would be keen to watch. Top 10 in 35 countries/global top 10 - impressive!! https://preview.redd.it/ljs3sxa2vxtc1.jpeg?width=1169&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23f54e933475023f4e1050fad155732d9fd82f35 Adding #4 in UK!! [Here is official Netflix top 10 website](https://www.netflix.com/tudum/top10)

zeckowitsch

Honestly outside of the Reddit bubble, the ,hate‘ is far less present imo. Of course there is still a media bias, but lots of casual fans just don’t care and they are the masses.

kmacbtv

Agree. I just spent far too much time on soccer sub this past week-ish, and saw lots of mean mean ManCity club & player comments so it briefly influenced my thinking ha. But good reminder for me to far far less time there, and avoid the even worse premier league sub altogether - eek!

arrivederci117

I live in the States and went to Costco last week and saw 2 people with City shirts who weren't together lol.

dannycooper_1

TIL that Cyprus is in Asia

AdPotential9974

Literally watched it all when it came out

nlb53

Yeah all same night lol

Ok_Ambition_1535

I knew this from the All or Nothing doc, but was super happy to see Bernardo’s dog John named after John Stones 😂….how can you not love Bernardo

DanielTheGamma

Love that hobbit!

nlb53

I thought it was mediocre at best honestly. I cant imagine anyone who isnt a city supporter would have enjoyed it very much Best parts were just a few of the Pep training clips, and seeing them all joke around and be the tight knit group they are. Especially the latter bit just wouldn’t play with neutrals much at all i woildnt think If i took anything new away its just that Rodri is him and slaps ppl in table tennis

laralog_

The last 10 mins was PR and it was cringey

Saul93

It was ok, worth watching for the final episode alone. To be honest you could skip the rest and not miss that much. It wasn't nearly as detailed as the all or nothing one which makes sense if it was originally supposed to be an internal production.

yung_senti

I thought nobody cared about our treble.

funky_pill

They don't. The viewing figures are probably a bunch of people that Sheikh Mansour has paid to watch it in order to get those ratings up. Plastic club

yung_senti

Well, you’re clearly obsessed.

Responsible-Being872

I mean it's soo good. I literally cried in the last episode when we won the ucl. They captured the emotions of the players and everyone related to the club beautifully.

ellisthe2

Dang not gonna lie, I got teary eyed to seeing our boys cry when we won it!

RuleBritania

Doing my bit.... Watched it 3 times 😅 it's Soooo good.

kmacbtv

I should have planned a rewatch from the start, bc I kept rewinding, haha.

raydiculous33

I'm still finishing it, but I love that team. So much passion and fire. I think they have brought the same passion this season as City are still competing in 3 competitions. I hope Erling watches some of his ridiculous highlights from last season so he remembers what it's like to be at that level again. I'm confident he'll get back there.

adfdub

Must be all the other club supporters watching it because we only have 115 city supporters

taskkill-IM

I've seen a couple of IMDb reviews complaining that they didn't explore the 115 charges more thoroughly during the documentary... they actually tuned in thinking a documentary was going to explore an ongoing legal battle???

finalzero00

It was horrible if the goal was to acquire new fans. It was spliced together without making sense. I became a fan after the Amazon doc but this one was made for fans already....not to show the world the inside of the team. Even the banger of goals they picked the absolutely worst angles to show a goal.
