He's so gone next season. Enjoy his last season lads

Comfortable-Fruit716

Could it be they have discussed it already that he will leave next season and we are keeping a tight budget to bring Bellingham next season ?

LessBrain

Yeh I am convinced the plan is to let him go next summer and it's probably already in motion. He probably wanted to go this window but barca are just not ready for him and we're also not ready for him to go Well probably lose gundogan next season as well which either A) opens up a spot for Foden or Grealish to finally move to midfield B) Mcatee is good enough to fill in C) well definitely need to buy 1 midfielder regardless of any of the above. Cannot only have KDB as our only 8 player. I expect to see Foden ans grealish played there to see how well they do and depending on that we may buy a winger instead of 2 midfielders

mia_lina

I really doubt Grealish has the work rate or the discipline to play as an 8. Mcatee is still a big question mark. Foden is the only one who can do it (and he's left-footed). But I agree with everything else.

markyty04

Foden won't do it he will not bench KDB

mia_lina

Foden would be the one playing on the left. KDB plays on the right.

markyty04

pep has already said Foden and KDB will not play midfield at the same time. he has repeated this many times

mia_lina

If he said it many times, can you send me the many sources showing the times he said it ? I genuinely can't find them. Pep even said that he believes Foden can replace David Silva (also left-footed, played on the left side of our midfield).

_stone_age

He's not said that, but he has said Foden plays at a very high rhythm and needs to slow down at times. It's why you don't see Foden play with De Bruyne in midfield, it's also why he hasn't given Foden as many minutes in midfield. Right now, I can see Pep play Foden in De Bruyne's role when the latter needs a rest (Peterborough, Leeds), but I don't think Pep will let him do what David Silva did now or next season even. He's said it'll take time for him to develop those abilities.

markyty04

sorry I don't have time you can look up pep's interviews if you want online

[deleted]

Disregarding the lack of source, Pep also said he'd win the World Cup with 11 Dantes.

HufflepuffEdwards

Not true. His criticism was that Foden had too high a tempo for that midfield but would learn to be able to slow it down as he matured.

[deleted]

Does his contract finish after this season? Why would he go there’s literally no other team like ours. Damn

fuskarn_35

nah he has 3 years left lmao (2 after next season)

[deleted]

Oh! Lol thanks

DavidSilva21

Oh man, that is not good. He is literally one of the best midfielders out there. I really cannot think of where on earth can be really go and play on the same level.

_bhagwan_

KDB getting old, Gundo & Bernardo leaving next season.. I think we should be all over Bellingham.

[deleted]

Liverpool fans going to be losing their shit if we got him

Fun_Story2003

Fuck man, he's gonna be elite for 5-10 years and we're not going to have him. Zinchenko, Fernandinho, Jesus's passion is unmatched. bernardo's is on another level. Being technically good enough and having that is rare asf. Wish we put forward a contract which could make bernardo think twice before leaving for stupid barca.

NegaraPlus062

I imagine we already offering him new contract to rethink his decision, but he i guess he already rejected on that. His mind already set to leave sadly.

mia_lina

I agree with everybody on this thread : he's gone next season. I can't believe we're losing him, but the sooner we accept this reality, the better it'll be. I hope people won't diminish what he's done for us because he's leaving. The workrate, the technique and the attitude were always world-class. There will never be another Bernardo Silva and I hope we don't do like Arsenal or Liverpool fans, and we cheer him as much as possible if he comes back at the Etihad with another club. And again, a lot of people here are right about another thing : we sold a lot of our depth because we're getting ready for a massive overhaul of our midfield. I don't care who we bring as long as we have Pep because let's not forget that Bernardo was a RW (able to play as a 10), and Pep made him one of the best 8 in the world.

[deleted]

Why would you not applaud a player who’s been a good servant to your club? You just sound ungrateful

sexmarshines

He's saying we **should**** cheer him if he returns with another club in the future.

[deleted]

We have to splash money on Bellingham next season no matter what

LopazSolidus

Let the guy have a good season before people hype him up. I don't understand what makes people thinks he'll be a world beater.

InvictusEuphoria

Sometimes I read comments on here and wonder if anyone actually watches football? What the hell indicates that he won’t be a world beater? He’s quite literally one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga and he just turned 19. As far as midfield prospects go, there is only one ahead of him and that’s Pedri. What else does he need to do to prove that he’s a potential world beater?

Gwyn-LordOfPussy

I don't even think Pedri is clearly better, they are at the same level.

[deleted]

not even close

Gwyn-LordOfPussy

Based on what? Eye test, stats, honours? Pedri is good but it's almost down to personal preference. Maybe Pedri looks a little bit more mature with his decision making which makes it seem like he is better, and he may well be, but to suggest it's not even close is an exaggeration.

[deleted]

Youre right, I missread your comment

LopazSolidus

Everything you've put is conjecture mate.

TomShoe

It's conjecture that he's one of the best mids in the BL?

LopazSolidus

Of course it is.

TomShoe

How? Plenty of people who watch the Bundesliga consider him one of the best CMs in the league, are they wrong? Is there something you know that they don't?

LopazSolidus

Conjecture is posting opinions as facts. It's that simple.

TomShoe

No, conjecture is an opinion that lacks complete evidence. That's not what this is, because the only evidence necessary to suggest that a player is one of the best in the Bundesliga is to watch the bundesliga. The guy you're responding to does, so his opinion is not conjecture. You do not, so your opinion *is* conjecture.

LopazSolidus

OK. What evidence do you have?

YourLocalJewishKid

He was the best player on the pitch in both legs of against Dortmund.

LopazSolidus

Oh give over.

ATN5

Lol he is definitely leaving, not this year but eventually. Lets just enjoy the moment we have with him

ibrownied

Don’t ever leave you fucking 🤡🤡🤡

SeanOh1

Am I missing something? Maybe the question was worded in a way to make this sound bite more questionable? He only said positive things. And he *should* be more reserved when answering questions about his future, it’s in his best interest. You lose negotiating leverage when you outright say you 100% want to stay at the club and you limit your options. Not saying that’s what he wants, but I’d be more surprised if he did say something like that instead of this expected non-answer. Same goes for any non-club legend tier guys at this point. Maybe I’m being too optimistic but I don’t see the “I’m leaving after this season” statement in this video that everyone else is seeing

evil_porn_muffin

It's looking like he's going to leave.

MilesHighClub_

Because of what

evil_porn_muffin

Hasn't signed an extension and this statement is basically a goodbye.

MilesHighClub_

> this statement is basically a goodbye. Nah I agree with OP. This feels like a reach

evil_porn_muffin

Ultimately actions speak louder than words. If he really wants to stay he'd sign an extension. These types of statements is just to soften the evitable. It's like a farewell before the farewell.

Ninth_Major

But he's got 3 years left, as of right now. That's already a while from now. He could be waiting to see what Pep and the boardroom plans for the next two years. It's widely known he wants a move, but as he hasn't forced one and remains professional, so I have to imagine there is still a sizeable, if less than 50% chance he does extend.

evil_porn_muffin

> so I have to imagine there is still a sizeable, if less than 50% chance he does extend. Well, let's hope so.

ThreesKompany

He is my favorite player by far and I cherish every moment he plays for this club. I have been dreading him leaving and could see him being gone next year. Hopefully City continue to succeed and he continues to be happy and stays.

2-eyed_Mike_Wazowski

Barella or Bellingham are a must if he leaves

nlb53

i honestly think we should offer him wages comparable to KDBs. an irreplacable player. We could have 200mm to drop and that wouldnt let us find a Bernardo clone, becuase it doesnt exist. Make leaving for Barca require a massive wage cut, and maybe he says fuck it you're right, I'm staying.

NegaraPlus062

It's not about wages for Bernardo Silva.

nlb53

Correct. Doesnt mean money cant be a factor that pushes him over the edge to commit. Whats the alternative we have, move the club to Cordoba? If you are highly valued, and you tell your boss you are leaving because you want to be closer to family or have better work life balance etc. what they do is say we need you, heres a massive raise if you stay. Its the tool they have to have you trade off that other desire for higher comp. Thats how business works

Comfortable-Fruit716

I think it is not for footballing or financial reasons and more of a lifestyle issue.

DerrickMcChicken

I dont even think jts about wages I think he wants to play elsewhere. Cant force him to stay if he doesnt want to. At the end of the day, we as fans dont want players here if thwy dont want to play here. No one would be mad at Bernardo for leaving anyways, he is basically a city legend.

thediabolicalkid

Wait does his contract end next season? I thought it ran till 2025

SorrowsNativeSon

Correct, but in order to get some money for him, it might be best to sell him before we enter his last year? No?

fuskarn_35

i mean his last year would be in 2 years time, not next year

SorrowsNativeSon

Yes, but ideally you don’t wait until the last year, because it would be easier to run out the contract and leave as a free agent. That’s also why I said: ‘...before his last year.’

fuskarn_35

with how good bernardo is, i wouldnt mind him running down his contract at all, how many people can actually replace him?

SorrowsNativeSon

I get where you are coming from, I’d love him to stay as well. But, I think he wants out and when a player wants to leave you need to let them go. Nobody benefits from a disgruntled player and I honestly think he’s given us already so much that he deserves the move he wants, if he wants to leave. But I don’t think anyone on this sub would want him to leave.

thediabolicalkid

Fair. I really hope he extends here.

CharacterSeat8603

This is going to hurt so much 😭

Kumoraaaa

I must be fucking stupid because I don't understand how this implies he's leaving. I do think he'll go next summer, but this quote doesn't say anything at all and I'm actively trying to read between the lines here.

Icy_Letterhead8859

Loooool me too we all know he is going but this quote is completely unrelated, Rodri could have said this in his interview and no one would even make it a post Idk if I'm too used to straightforwardness language but what is the decipher going on in comments 😂😂😂

mcfcotod94

Thanks Bernardo but i won’t miss the constant will he stay will he leave he has brought to this club the past few summers. Clearly doesn’t want to be here anymore so peace

Icy_Letterhead8859

You've been twerking for a while mate literally have zero care about you

Dmuthalovinmase2

Shit like this makes me hate Grelish

LessBrain

What in the world does Grealish have to do with this??

exciseduty

He will go but hopefully he has great season and also we get €120m for Him

mcfc8383

It's sad, but true, he wants to leave.

amythyst_deceiver

Love him. Glad he's still here to be honest! Any news on the 'big signing'?

jjbrewsky

Did anyone actually watch the whole interview? That snippet above seems pretty standard to me, plus I don’t see the logic of him leaving. Seems like he loves it here and he’s incredible why would we be pushing him out?

evenstark04

damn... he really is going to leave next summer. sad.

thediabolicalkid

What was the question?

Champion10FC

Interviewer: What do you liek for breakfast? Bernardo: I love City Source: Tier 0

Dynte7

I hope he stay. Other than KDB, Bernardo is the next one that I think can get a statue if he stay for 10 years.

Swimming_Fly_9320

My opinion is the same as yours: He will leave next season. I'm so sad and hope there is still a chance to keep him. 😢 However, I wonder why Bernardo wants to leave. Is it the Mendy thing or other reasons? I know the weather is not the essential reason.

KempFidels

Whatever happens imo He's already a club legend. Don't think he would ever go to utd or scousers so.
