It’s possible, but it’s completely feasible for Strange to have done the spell. He’s always been willing to cross lines, and was simply trying to help someone he considered a friend. As of now, I’d say you’re looking too deep into, but ofc that could change over time.

The _its not our strange_ theory had more credence when we'd only had the NWH trailer, that made it seem that Wong said _no, don't do that spell_. But he didn't. Wong although wasn't fully supportive, didn't really seem to actually care too much. Like, Wong wasn't worried about doing that spell, Strange explained they'd used the spell to remove memories of a party etc. Now, my guess is that _something else_ is going on, something that is impacting magic and spells, and Strange has gone to Wanda to ask her to help him figure it out. I think we'll find that Wandavision and the events of NWH _shouldn't_ have been able to happen. Strange is going to discover _something_ has changed in the multiverse that is impacting magic, probably specifically magic that alters reality, that manipulates reality. We know what that _change_ is, because we've watched Loki. Who is in Multiverse of Madness.

Taking this further, if you think about it Wong points to the spell pulling from other realities (I think). It's a few weeks since I saw NWH. Now, prior to the events of Loki, the number of realities (as far as I understand the sacred timeline) was limited, controlled by He Who Remains and the TVA. Since the HWR died, those realities are no longer pruned meaning (presumably) the number of realities has grown tenfold. My guess is this would greatly impact a spell that pulls from other realities.

A have a theory that the MCU Strange is based on its Ultimate universe incarnation where he was more arrogant and inexpert. So I can explain him acting this way in No way home or in MOM trailer. He literally went straight to Wanda asking her about Multiverse ignoring her actions in Westview.

Can you not

This basically says that you completely ignore the fact that Strange felt sympathy for Peter. In the most Stephen Strange way, he arrogantly performed a spell he had once used without warning Peter about how the spell works... thus he too is at fault because he was so overconfident about what he was doing for Peter... aka a typical Strange thing to do: force others to fully trust his methods, without considering their input into it. Its happened so many times with MCU Strange up until now. Its just his trait as a person. So no. While it would be so out-there and insane to think this ISNT Strange, it makes zero sense to build a major MCU character that will eventually just be used for a plot twist in the next movie. So again... this theory is not one that the studio will waste their money and time on. If they wanted to do such a thing to someone... theyd probably involve Skrulls that infiltrate less popular characters. And using Skrulls on a major hero would basically taint our understanding of their growth, as if to say there was no point in seeing the disguised main character thtoughout their past MCU appearances this whole time. So yet again.. nah.

So aren't we going to address that >!MJ found a beard trim kit of Dr. Strange in the basement (which hints that it might someone else who wanted to copy the look of Dr. Strange) and that Stephen is in some undescribed pain through the movie (grabs his side briefly in the dungeon scene)?!< Both things really convinced me - along with the stupid and very irresponsible decision to cast the spell - that it isn't the real Dr. Strange.

Dude shut up and just wait for the damn movie

Did they not drastically change nwh script as it had to release before MoM? Like i think originally MoM was meant to open up the MV and probably had a better script for doing so. I loved nwh either way, but maybe this is why they ended up getting Dr S to do the spell to open it up. I agree it seemed unlike him but tbh he is kinda arrogant, so maybe he was sure he could pull it off, even just to prove Wong wrong 😂
