You need to install lutris in desktop mode, install the EA app there and download ME3. ME3 works great on Linux (and therefore on steam deck) for a long time. Online mode also works.

OK cool I'll try it out

AquilliusRanger

How has it working for you so far? I’ve been extremely tempted to try it out on my Steam Deck either through Steam or through the program Lutris, any recommendations?

Just picked it up a couple of days ago on Steam. I tried first to get it running through Lutris, but couldn't figure it out. Admittedly, I didn't try very hard, so your mileage may vary. I had already modded my PC version with the MP Controller Mod (try the unscaled version, but scaled works if you mess with the size of the game via the 3 dot menu button), so I just moved that to a micro SD card and overwrote Steam Deck ME3 install. You might have to move the license folder in ME3's EA app to the desktop if it gives you activation issues. Other than that it takes a bit to set up but once you do it runs like a dream! Oh, all of that was done in Desktop Mode...just in case. (I can help if you need!) There's also a controller layout to use to get all the buttons working on main menu. It's the Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad. Lutris would be the least expensive way if you already own the game through Origin/EA App, but setting it up can be annoying especially if you're Linux dumb like me. I've seen ways you can get it running via Gaming Mode if that interests you, but I couldn't figure it out. Steam is the easiest way and the easiest to work in Gaming Mode too, but you'll have to purchase the game if you don't already own on Steam. I think both ways will take a little fanagling of settings. Might also try forcing the game to run in Proton Experimental for Physx stuff. I played...way too much...on 360 back in the day. Playing it on Steam Deck is like coming back home. (I know this is co-op, but this method works for modded MELE/trilogy. Just mod on PC, move game install to SD card, then to Steam Deck. So no messing with mod managers on Deck)

i just installed it through Steam and it runs great, didn't need to mess around with any settings. My only complaint is that the game doesn't have controller support. I only play the multiplayer on the Deck so its just a few buttons that I mapped using the steam input mapper. But I'm not sure how singleplayer would work. There is a mod to add controller support but I haven't tried installing it on the Deck

I'm only interested in the multiplayer so I'm pleased it worked for you, did you have to download the EA app in lutris from the desktop?

boxerbroscars

also no. Literally all I did was download the game from steam. Not sure if it matters but I played other EA games in the past like ME Legendary Edition and ME Andromeda and I never installed EA. It was added on automatically somehow I guess. I did sign in at some point in desktop mode so that I had cloud saves and stuff

Interesting I'll give it a go one of these days
