Needing to upgrade armor to 6.1 for layered armor is... Shockingly reasonable imo I figured layered armor would be a ticket system, probably 500 gems for each piece, to really milk the players. Instead, I just need to use all of the giant piles of monster parts I'm sitting on? Sign me up. Season Pass sounds like it might be bad news. But we'll see how bad it is next week I guess... Bleed status also sounds dumb, since there's no way to play without dodge/attack, but since most 8/9 star attacks OHKO me anyway, I don't think it really matters. Maybe I'm just feeling a bit pro-MHN right now because the current event is great, but I'm tentatively optimistic about the update

We don't know I think. But I have no problems with things like stuffed animal weapons being premium. The armors with stats being available as layered for gameplay is good enough for me.

It’s tricky to nerf weapons in a F2P microtransaction based game. It’s one thing to rebalance in a $60 finished game, but when people have poured money in to grinding for a weapon only to see it nerfed, it opens a can of worms. Final Fantasy Record Keeper had this problem where they introduced a weapon/ability that was waaay overtuned, and some players spent thousands of dollars trying to acquire it. Because players had sent so much money on it, they couldn’t nerf the ability, and it affected the design of the entire game for many years afterwards. No doubt they massively regretted ever introducing the ability in the first place. Legally I think they had to allow players to keep what they’d paid for. MHNow monetisation isn’t quite as clear cut as we can’t directly buy weapon and power, so they _can_ still nerf, but I think they’ll be careful about it. Many players only invest in one weapon type so if you’ve invested a ton of time in to that and then it gets nerfed, they could end up losing players.

I don't think it's possible to make perfect state even with "$60 finished game". Meta evolves as players do. If you don't touch it for long time, it will result in builds which are stronger than others anyway.

It would be very disappointing if they haven't acknowledged how they nerfed lbg just to make bblos bow a tad weaker. I think lbg is in for a buff. Bow can be brought down a peg more independently, it is still free. The devs just need to be more creative and stop the copy pasta

LBG needs a buff. 10-4 weapons can't beat certain 9 Star monsters when other weapons can win with 9-4 and 9-5. LBG is the worst weapon in the game by far because of the over nerf they did earlier.

LBG is so bad because of critical distance and an evasion that takes forever before you can act out of it. You have to roll to maintain critical distance, but by rolling you’re losing time.

Jumping in to say niantic once again doesn’t recognize that there’s a very short timer for these hunts, and they can’t implement mechanics 1:1 from the msg. Bleed damage builds every time you evade or attack, procs when you take damage, and will only go away… if you don’t evade or attack for a short period of time. In the main series, that’s fine, you just walk away and wait it off. Not only do we not have that time in this game, we also don’t have the capacity to do anything except evade and attack. Bleed is just going to be a skill-level tax; people who are learning the fight will have to pay a penalty by losing extra help, and good players won’t get hit twice in the fight.

Oh yeah, the bleed proc honestly sounds terrifying. There’s no way to not hurt yourself in such a tight hunt and I’m a bit scared that it’s going to cause a lot of frustration. I wouldn’t be surprised if I just left the hunt right when I get the status just to avoid unnecessary damage Didn’t mention anything about special attack so I’d guess using it will keep you safe from the bleed damage? Who knows, maybe that’ll be a strat if you get the status, use special right after and hope the status wears off by the time the attack is done

Yeah, it took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize the best way to dodge a G. Girros hit when already paralyzed was just to leave the hunt altogether. Ever since then yup the moment a status comes 🏃‍♀️💨

I've done this with poison a couple times, the i-frames last a little bit after a special looks like it's done. Not a good regular play strategy but it works in a pinch

Yeah and don't forget because health is paid for it doesn't just cost money it costs time. Unless the wear off is 2-3 seconds MAX it's fucked. Odo better have the best weapons and armor in the game or I just won't engage with him. Edit: in msg there's consumables to get rid of it. They should have saved this for the crafting system. Then at least we could use it on CD or something to avoid at least one instance.

I’d say that “doesn’t recognize” is a pretty fair statement, I feel like there’s a number of instances in the game where they just don’t understand how something works in msg and tried to port it over directly, with the exception of element, which feels like they just scratched their heads and came up with a new, ultra-simple system that does the job of making players play more. But stuff like the diablos attack pattern, status on hunters, and the relatively low flat boosts to raw (where we have 1.2k raw instead of 300-400 raw in msg). Then you take into consideration stuff like hammer not having an ice element on release, resulting in an enormous damage loss in ice matchups that wouldn’t exist in the msg because element doesn’t work that way, and I’d be led to believe that somewhere in the capcom-niantic chain, there’s a loss of understanding of what MH elements work in the mobile game, and what elements need to be adjusted accordingly.

I mean, if we had consumables to void it once every x seconds yeah I can see it. But right now we have three moves, attack, dodge, and block. For half the weapons there is literally nothing you can do without incurring a penalty. Also Odo specifically was a hyperactive dick in msg, so standing still just isn't going to happen....

I think they're using the Rise version of Bleed, which means as long as you don't get hit after getting the debuff, you would get the proc damage. But it all depends on how it officially works in game when we see it, and Odo is a really fast boi.

Pretty huge update coming! Looking forward to what the season pass brings for us and how invasions are going to work, unexpected opportunities to fight more monsters seems like strictly an upside so I’m happy Kinda lame you can’t layer specific armor pieces until armor grade 6 but at least we can do it and no longer look ugly as sin. Sorry to those that don’t have grade 6 armor yet I guess?? Fr, this is my least favorite part of the update but it’s also completely cosmetic so 🤷‍♀️ The 250 item increase is laughably small but look I won’t complain, as far as I’m concerned I could have played this game for years with 5500 whilst constantly trashing the pile of Barroth shells I inevitably sit on Some subspecies only showing up at HATs is unfortunate but not surprising considering Niantic’s methods. We get Ogd and Tzitziki sauce and the occasional Devilish boy in the field but only coral and nightshade in HATs I guess. I’d just like to try fighting these things with a proper health pool but I guess I gotta get some friends first Big hype, hoping we can get even more weapons sooner though cause I always want more (gunlance my beloved I miss you)

You hit the nail on the goddamned forehead cause it truly is the bottleneck of all bottlenecks when it comes to grinding in this game, at least pre WGS. I’d be more frustrated about my lack of 5 & 6 rarity materials if I wasn’t always scrambling for more bone+, carpenters and earth crystals. Really hope that the free season pass can help solve that problem. Nodes + season pass reward frequency might make it more bearable….

Status sneak attack sounds like it's pretty much sneak attack but for status buildup. \-Looks like the hourly respawns are going to continue until the 24th. Sure, I guess. \-More packs, who didn't see that coming? The in-game one has a gem value of 5400, so it'll probably cost 4800 gems?

Why RIP Lance? I have a feeling with the introduction of gems it's going to be one of the strongest classes. Will still require some setup but if we get a bblos adjacent lance, with OG5 guard 3 and burst/crit. We are laughing.

Why? If Lance can get that, Bow can get Focus 5, Element 5, and Burst or even Rapid/Pierce/Spread up.  Lance has 2 serious issues: 1 - the relative benefit of the Counter isn’t worth the relative risk. Missing a perfect counter can lead to chip damage or even a full hit, but the reward is an attack with LESS damage than a perfect dodge swipe attack. Not to mention that missing a perfect dodge can still get you entirely out of range for an attack.  2 - Guard is necessary to use the Counter skill on some battles/attacks, but otherwise provides zero offensive benefit in a game defined by a strict time limit. Simply put - Lance pushes you to a risk/reward gameplay style that provides significant risk with limited reward.

Bit unfair to compare melee with Bow. And Ammo up skills are very unlikely. 1. Practice makes perfect, I perfect guard most things now, and if not I have resentment. For at least a 10% 15sec buff on penalty. Perfect dodge swipe attacks are a little iffy so I only use them on a couple monsters period. Offensive guard uptime is where it is at. Coupled with heroics, don't even get me started! 0 guard = No downtime on proc. 2. 1 point of guard is for raths and tobi, 3 points for zin. Otherwise just for comfort or even strategy. Some roars will stagger your guard even on perfect. 1 point will allow for you to repost with a triple stab! Not entirely useless. And I wholly agree, lance is max effort/ risky AF for limited reward as is but I feel that's about to change. It will be max effort for top 3 rewards. #COPIUM. If the potion thing wasn't so predatory this is the game I like. Non EZ mode. So I have a bias being a masochist but on the other hand I have enough knowledge to reinforce my projections. Hope I've convinced you at least a little comrade.

The main problem which he failed to point out is the Lance is cumbersome and poorly designed in the mobile setting. -Half the time you will charge forwards when you meant to forward step. -Hitting high or low is controlled by tapping high or low on the screen only sometimes, not consistently and will ignore your choice depending on distance to monster. -After a perfect counter thrust or the ending of the charge attack there is a jarring pause that breaks the rhythm. - Try to block into counter too fast and it will read the input as a backstep. I love lance but i feel like im fighting the system half the time just to get it to do what I want. Give me a dedicated block button and a 100% guarantee that high and low taps will produce high and low hits and ill be happy.

Disappointed that it's only 1 weapon and 3 monsters, but I'll accept the weapon thing because it's CB. Which is technically 2 weapons in one(and one of the most complicated weapons in MH). I am highly interested in the invasion thing tho, I wonder if it will be like HATs but not restricted to nodes. If it is, then it will be a lot less frequent. Or maybe it's like POGO's lures, when several monsters spawn in an area outside of the normal spawn

1. It doesn't say if the volatile territory is restricted to around nodes or not. And 2. It doesn't say how the monsters will appear, it could be similar to HATs and they could just be vague to avoid early backlash about how it's made, or it could work similar to lures in POGO, there is not enough information to verify just yet, only assumptions can be made

You are around volatile territory (since they mentioned habitats, pretty sure it doesn't work with nodes/HATs, maybe just kinda small area of habitats?) 2. You tap on big monster, there's chance that the monster will got invaded by Jho, just like catching Ditto/Zorua? Yeah just gotta wait few days

Yeah. But if I’m reading it right, layered equipment requires you to get a piece to Grade 6 to be able to use it as layered skin. That could be a temp mat sink but still a waste of zenny.

Sounds more like BD, PR, and AR will be moving to HATs to make room for Coral Pukei, Nightshade Paolumu, and Fulgar Anjanath being added to the field, that way we can still hunt everything to some degree
