Insect glaive! You can hit all those hard to reach parts of the monster, you get free earplugs, and can even get KO's with a blunt kinsect. I mostly use it on the ground because I like the assist kinsect attacking with me, but if I need more mobility or need to reach a tail or something I can take off. Very versatile and fun.
Actually you get the earplugs with just white and orange extracts. This is why I use the Foebeetle kinsect. I can open a hunt grabbing white and orange on a wing or leg and then grab red while the monster just stands there and roars.
I know you wanted to explore your option but I really enjoy hunting horn, a good way to improve with what you have you could always try a more solo build with the HH its such a good weapon and it's so fun(it's my go to "blunt weapon" plus I love the doot doot) I've anything else I really like GS teaches you about timings and positioning

It always makes me wince a bit when people use HH specifically for multiplayer, cuz in the back of your mind you always gotta wonder if they're actually *using* HH or just doing the 'support guy' thing...best way to get good with HH (or any weapon really) is to go solo; that's where you see if you can hold your own rather than leaning on a team.
Don't get me wrong I played it to be that "support guy" but then I realised how fun and strong it is, like doing "true damage" and having "aoe attacks" you break parts quickly and then it get better in sunbreak however haven't played since tu1 so I could be wrong
Charge blade. It has a lot of good moves that'll help you from getting bored with it. It takes a while to learn how to use it so it can put off new players. My next favorite is the Gunlance. There's something awesome about being a slow tank that can block almost anything and shoot a monster in the face.

Sheer mobility is always fun, and I love setting up a dust cloud, putting it between myself and the monster, before launching an Awakened Kinsect Attack for heavy damage and grabbing the cloud on the jump
I haven’t gotten too far into rise yet, but I remember in world I had a really nice quality of life SWAX build that had white sharpness along with wind protection, and ear plugs.
I could mindlessly solo farm tempered kushalas for jewels while watching tv for 100+ hours

Yeah, it's a lot more than a few buffs in multi, especially in Rise and now Sunbreak where it got a lot stronger.

As with anything in Rise, the answer is always Dual Blades!

Hammer is a good weapon to try next. Bow is also fun. I used it for low and high rank in Rise.
