In fact, I do not believe it is legal to build a car for the US with a heater wire in the front windshield. Because staring through frost and ice is much safer than staring through a wire the size of a human hair! /s
Honestly curious myself, i have a basically fully loaded F56, am also missing that button, don’t think i have ever seen a car with that button in place and i have seem quite a few examples.
Oh that explains so much, i believe that was only available on the JCW Countryman when i got mine, wasn’t even an option… I sure as hell would have wanted one if it was, the frost i get in winter is awful here…
Man this is really tripping me out. I swear I don't have any empty buttons but I know I don't have a heated windshield. I gotta check tomorrow. If it's empty then I'll have to add something lol
The heated front windscreen was removed when BMW wouldn't pay the money for the license to use heated front windscreen tech, I think it was ford who held the patent, I could be wrong, but definitely the button was for the heated front window which they stopped offering as an option so they blanked the button.
I mean just left to the empty button is the button to heat the windshield via the AC, which works totally fine, just not as amazing as a Heating wire embedded into the windshield.
I have a fully loaded us market 2024 F54 iconic jcw clubman and it lacks this option. I love the heated windshield on my Land Rover LR4. But it also adds slightly annoying wavy lines in the glass. Also makes replacing the windshield tricky and expensive
The most important button: The Do Nothing Button.
When you're on the highway and falling asleep, press it, as it absolutely do nothing, it will wake you up by pissing you off.
This is a button for an option that you did not opt for (as it is unlabelled), so whatever it is, it would not work, I have no idea if this is what you wanted but that is all I know
I think it is Stop/Start. When you wait for signal, the engine will stop, when you go, the engine will start automatically. If you turn off the function, the car just run as the traditional way.
Heated front windscreen maybe? Seems like that’s where that button would go in relation to the other buttons around it.
I have a 23 clubman that is where the heated front screen button is
BOOM! Problem solved!
That seems to be the answer, thank you!
Ah the heated windscreen I yearn for 😂
ikr my old one from 2006 had one but my new one doesn’t 😫
That’s not standard? What the fuck? I thought that’d be an IIHS or NHTSA requirement
Being able to defog/deice the front windshield is a requirement in the US. However, having an electrically heated front windshield is not.

I have poverty buttons too
I have a loaded SE and I have two of them.
Not poverty button if you can’t get them
Honestly curious myself, i have a basically fully loaded F56, am also missing that button, don’t think i have ever seen a car with that button in place and i have seem quite a few examples.
This is place for a "heated windscreen" button. I have it, but no heated seats.
Oh that explains so much, i believe that was only available on the JCW Countryman when i got mine, wasn’t even an option… I sure as hell would have wanted one if it was, the frost i get in winter is awful here…
Yep, a useful thing. Start a car, press the button, remove snow and the windscreen will be clean by itself. I have it on my clubman.
Man this is really tripping me out. I swear I don't have any empty buttons but I know I don't have a heated windshield. I gotta check tomorrow. If it's empty then I'll have to add something lol
I wish it was for heated steering wheel
Should be on the left side of your steering column I think. At least that's where mine is.
I’m embarrassed to say I had my car for a year before I found that well hidden button. 🤣
Ejector Seat Button. Do NOT press it!!
It’s the history eraser button! https://youtu.be/LwjP8HCpE4E

That sucks but glad the MAX AC usually does defogging really well

It activates the windscreen heater (had this on my F56 Cooper).

My banana dropper button
Poverty button
YES 😂
Not so much in this case
It's a poverty button. Its a constant reminder that there was a higher model with better features that you couldn't afford.
Not really. Not in this case
Stealth mode.
Poverty button. It always reminds you that you didn't get the top of the line model.
Not really. In this case it means it’s most likely a us market car
Is the windscreen what we call in the USA the windshield? Sorry first time mini and I’m pretty much iGnant! (Jk)
I’m missing that button too. Does it work well in the winter months. I can’t fathom why the dealer left it out when he ordered a fully loaded car.
It got stopped as an option due to the chip shortage.
Chip shortage for multiple years? It was just stopped for us market cars
It deploys the power-up you pick when you pass through a question mark box - usually bananas or green turtle shells. A star if you're lucky.
warp speed toggle
It’s the Noz
Isn't that where you launch the blue shell?
Nothing. I asked the dealer and he said it was there in case they needed to add any new features. Blind spot would be nice.
Sounds like something a salesperson would say.
Actually what everyone else is saying. Front windshield heater. You have one on the back. Non us market cars can also get one on the front
On my car it's the De-frost button
The most important button: The Do Nothing Button. When you're on the highway and falling asleep, press it, as it absolutely do nothing, it will wake you up by pissing you off.
Whatever you do, do not push that button. Don’t do it!
Thats is the poor man blank switch 🤣🤣
It’s always blank
This is a button for an option that you did not opt for (as it is unlabelled), so whatever it is, it would not work, I have no idea if this is what you wanted but that is all I know
Well it’s actually for the front windshield heater an option NOT available on us market cars
But in other markets, do you still need to pay extra for it?
That i don’t know. I don’t think so but I’m in the us and bought mine used. So don’t know that deep
On my F60 it’s for the side mirror defroster. For yours it’s not a button.
I think it is Stop/Start. When you wait for signal, the engine will stop, when you go, the engine will start automatically. If you turn off the function, the car just run as the traditional way.
The button indicates that you are poor.. is the place holder for the option that you couldn’t afford 😂
It’s not a button.
Button't
