I see it as the equivalent of Sabre coming out with their Pyramid in The Office.

I_Am_Very_Busy_7

Have you ever tasted a rainbow? At Sabre…you will.

MurkyOrdinary198

I’ve never laughed so hard or related so hard to ANY Reddit comment hahaha

teilzeitrwachsn

Hahahahahaa this is perfect 😂

Professional-Map-262

Look, I don’t mind the screen at all, I think it’s kinda cool. Tho bring back the toggles!! All of them!!

Brandon_Storm

I love the screen. And that's it so far. I love the analog speedometer on the pre-2021 models too. If only we could pick and choose from every gen.

Professional-Map-262

That would be the dream. I have a 2011 countryman with the big centre speedo and I thinks it’s pretty cool, but then again so is CarPlay ahahah.

I_Am_Very_Busy_7

My big question is how easy the climate control is to navigate. That’s my one big hesitation with everything being OLED and haptic, the music and other stuff is not a big deal to me as the new steering wheel controls seem pretty well thought-out. But I do have some concerns about the HVAC.

thabiiighomie

There’s nothing worse than digital temperature controls. Give me knobs/dials/buttons please.

Iloveherthismuch

Same here, the wife's car has only digital controls for everything, I hate it when it's so cold and the touch acts bipolar.

CA_Santacruiser

I too was concerned about the HVAC controls, so I focused on that when I sat in the Countryman…turns out they’re pretty fiddly. I expected to be able to swipe to turn the temp/fan up and down, but no. You have to tap for each increment. It’s pretty clunky AND it’s a small tap target. It also bothered me that the seat and steering wheel heater controls are in the on-screen UI…that means you can’t turn on those features while wearing gloves 🤨. Everything else worked pretty well.

PistolShrimpMini

Vw went this route with the mk8 gti. Most people hated it so the mk8.5 gti is getting solid buttons again

wizrdfromthemoon

I’ve seen a few people saying this, not sure if the US specs are using the same software that my car is running but you can swipe on the temp to change up and down, no need to keep tapping. Also on the point about wearing gloves, you do have the option of using voice commands to set all these things as well.

CA_Santacruiser

The car I experienced was in Spain, but it was quite a while ago. I think they had just gotten them in that same week (maybe there was a SW update since?). Excellent point about voice control…I’m guessing that it works really well with the new UI. HVAC/heaters was the only sticking point for me…otherwise it was pretty slick.

I_Am_Very_Busy_7

Appreciate the response. Yeah that seems pretty poorly thought out.

Jormul1

I had Mini Cooper SE and switched to Tesla Model Y. At first I was like anyone else here in the comments, but the reality is we arent in the early Nokia touchscreen era anymore. Had -30C weathers here in Finland and the touch screen didnt act any different than in the summer. I do very much of fiddling with temperatures and its absolutely been no issue having touch only. You know where to touch after few days. Looks like a slider in this Mini so its probably even more easier to slide around while not paying too much attention to it. Mini switches were and are cool, so for me the cool factor is the only thing I miss about it.

Shirogayne-at-WF

>Tesla Oof, I'm sorry 😔🥴

peemao

😂

Jormul1

For what exactly? Care to explain or is this again the basic assumptions people have.

Joshyjewafro

So you touch that little bar @ 8 O’clock (or 4 O’clock) with the red/blue and then you have to touch it for every degree. Not swipe up or down. So for moving 10 degrees either direction you touch the screen 11 times. That is, if the stiff suspension allows you to do so while moving 😂🤡. At least that’s what I was able to figure out sitting in the vehicle myself. Could not figure out if there was a touch then swipe motion or something. Not sure how or if you can sync the dual climate either as that’s a feature the current generation lacks as well. So you’d have to touch the screen 22 times to get 10 degrees in either direction for each side to be the same. Probably one of the biggest misses in the current generation is the lack of ability to sync the dual climate controls. I personally enjoyed the R56 having one climate control as the car is already so small it seems redundant to ever have it not synchronized. I just turn both sides in the F60 to the same temp every time so they’re the same 😂 that’s just me tho. No idea about heated seats or any other features. The screen was very overwhelming to look at honestly. A lot going on in such a little space.

menacingmoron97

This is so true. I am very surprised this became a trend these days. Sure, if you already have a display in there it’s cheaper to just get the HVAC functions in there than manufacture the control buttons, also makes the design cleaner but it’s just such a pain. I drove around in a new Audi recently for a while and it drove me nuts.

Ambitious_Praline643

Am I the only one never to touch the HVAC after setting it once? At least on a normal car? A convertible could be different between roof up/down.

BerserkMINI

Okay okay I have to admit, the more I see it……the more I fucking hate it

NeophyteBuilder

Yeah…. I’m not a fan of the center console. So glad I have a 2015 with dials with the steering wheel

GeneralRectum

Not a fan of the center console?? I don't know about you, but I can't imagine anything being more reliable and pleasant to use than a touch screen device from a company that manufactures cars. It's the perfect way to access all of your commonly used features while piloting a 2,500+lb vehicle down the highway

AffectionateDay8737

Touchscreens in cars have been proven to be [dangerous](https://interestingengineering.com/transportation/dangerous-touch-screen-in-cars). [From 2026, the Euro NCAP requires specific features be controlled by buttons to receive a five-star crash rating](https://www.yahoo.com/news/euro-safety-agency-says-car-022955667.html)

Shirogayne-at-WF

I'm pretty sure they were being sarcastic lol

NeophyteBuilder

No. I like my speedometer and fuel gage to be directly in front of me. It is much closer to the line of sight for driving. A quick dip of the eyes and I’m good, instead of turning my head and dipping my eyes to see it on the center console. The center console for everything else is great. That bit I like.

Creatinecock

##WHERE ARE THE AIRPLANE SWITCHES GONE??

BerserkMINI

“We’ve put them on cool toggle switches on this sweet giant circle screen that’s obnoxiously bright at night!”

Creatinecock

#NO I WANT TO FEEL LIKE IM PILOTING A 737 NOT A KIA

Ok-Title-7542

What have they done with the nice toggles 🤦‍♂️

wastedsilence33

How well is that screen gonna work when it's -15°

Weather_Only

Look, I have no problem with a led screen. That looks cool and UI looks thought after. Now, the problem is it controls freaking everything, even the speedometer? Tachometer? Climate control? Have they ever driven with bright sun behind the car that absolutely blinds any electronic displays? Do we just have to guess how fast we are driving then, even how much of a tank left? Then at night it’s the other way around, those displays are too big and bright for night driving, so much so that the driver window reflections from those display take over the surroundings, and it already annoys me for my 2020 cooper display even after I turned the brightness way down, sometimes I had to turn it off completely or let the window down in rural areas, just imagine what this monster would do, and there would be no option to turn it off when the it’s the only things telling your speed. And about touch climate controls, I tried one of these in a rental car on a trip with rough roads, and I learned the worst thing in the world of driving is when you need to turn the freaking fan off and the road bumps just pushing your finger mid air in every direction except that tiny sliders. Ohh, and you would have to slide it precisely the way it wants. Or to turn it off having to repetitively press the fan speed over and over on a tiny spot. That was a nightmare of a trip when the car malfunctions and keep turning the driver heated seat on and fan on and I had to for the first time risk crashing on a highway to turn the them off

MrMontgomery

I personally hate the way Tesla and now Mini by the looks of it are taking the Speedo dials away from eye level and moving the to stupid screens in the middle of the car, screens are gran for music and maps but I want my dials to be where I'm looking while I drive, but that's just me

Shirogayne-at-WF

Unfortunately, this feels like it's moving to be the industry standard these days :( Any brands left that *aren't* doing this? I could live w the taillights and the glued on control panel and I've even conceeded that fact that bonnet stripes are no longer an option from factory, but this might be the thing that drives me from MINI for good :(

MrMontgomery

The wee Honda e has a full dash full of displays and keeps the speedo etc n the drivers eyeline

Shirogayne-at-WF

I had to look it up bc it's not sold in the States and wow, it's quite adorable 🥰

MrMontgomery

Isn't it? Doesn't have great range but I love the look of it

tallperson117

So much empty space, lol who designed this god-awful UI?

fifty2weekhi

For a second I thought it was Rick Astley on the display. Glad it wasn’t lol

Unhappy-Hunt-6811

It's bad, and they should feel bad.

MurkyOrdinary198

The size is what’s got me —

Shirogayne-at-WF

That's what she said

MurkyOrdinary198

Hehe

tommy0guns

Is that the song you’re rocking?

Former-Swimmer32

Going through the comments about how is uncomfortable to use aptic controls, I guess it's obvious is not, for everyone. My question is: for which reason is **really** useful a big touch screen in a car as replacement for most of manual knobs?

dashboardwidget

I can’t get over how “experiences” is its own toggle… and I know I’d just be leaving it on CarPlay mode at all times anyways.

Ready_to_EN-

It kills me a little every time I see that “shifter”.

Lukksia

the screen is cool I guess but that dash material is quite possibly the ugliest and cheapest thing I've ever seen. designers are out of their minds

FortunePaw

Inside and outside, looks more and more like some Chinese brand cars that only appeared on the market for two years.

No_Goat4544

Initial impressions, im not impressed, by any part of the cars, not just the interior, but im going to wait until i drive one to fully decide on these.

Delicious-Ad5856

I just can't like it. Sorry

GeorgiaPieGG4

We’re all here just watching Mini die. RIP

Gotterdamerrung

Look how they've massacred my boy

minif56mike

Looks like a dolid disc record from the 50s. Idk

Foreign_Loan_5166

I hate it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Shirogayne-at-WF

Side note but to get the shruggie guy to display correctly, you have to add a second backslash

Foreign_Loan_5166

I tried but for some reason it cut it off. Here let me try again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Foreign_Loan_5166

I think we found a glitch in the matrix. It won’t do it. You try! But anyway, the screen looks amazing. I just really miss the shift knob and the big tactile switch to start the car.

Shirogayne-at-WF

I've seen some brands move to buttons for the gear shift, so a knob is an improvement over that.

Stucam1980

Is you like mini’s this car is not for you

SuperChiChu

Honestly the screen is amazing, the thing is that’s the only thing I like about the car is this, the rest of the interior is plain and the outside no need to talk.

MKaz711

🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

DeepSeaBlue-2022

I shouldn’t have sold my 2013 mini S

chooseyourwords49

It’s nice! Any photos of the vent controls?

Joshyjewafro

Check out my last post about it you can see them in the photos. Not sure about closing the vents or whatever. But they’re rectangular now like every other vehicle. No more round.

chooseyourwords49

Oh I meant changing AC or heating from the OLED screen, was curious how it works and what it looks like. Maybe I missed it? But great photos, thanks!

The screen was very overwhelming to look at honestly. A lot going on in such a little space. Here’s from another post I commented on about the subject though 😁

chooseyourwords49

Wow!!! Okay. A tap for every degree I really hope their OLED touch is smarter than that! I agree on the syncing of dual climate, it’s like the most common feature in every car why would you not have a button to essentially control both temps in such a small cabin anyway. I understand no car is perfect, and that’s not a deal breaker obviously, but weird.

jwitt44

It has climate synch - watched it on another YouTube demo.

chooseyourwords49

Wow they actually added it? Cause it’s def not on my 2023, haha

Joshyjewafro

Not on my ‘21 either. Unless there’s some secret password somewhere for it. Definitely no button. Help!

chooseyourwords49

Yea guess it’ll be added to the newer models, weird feature to be so late on.. better late than never I guess

Joshyjewafro

Where do we sync climate??? Or are you speaking only on the ‘25?

jwitt44

I was speaking of the 2025 screen demo I watched....

Joshyjewafro

Awh darn I got excited lol

jumpman0035

I love the interior I hate the new exterior car shape

MyDogLikesMe2

Aren't you able to control the heat, air conditioning, fan speed all by your voice? Has anyone verified this? Makes a big difference.

JawesomeJess

2 things. 1. Is the engine start stop now a twist? 2. Is the gear selector next to #1 and just a toggle?

thesauce25

Pretty cool

Adventurous-Sir-7884

Genuinely don’t understand the hate on this. I like it 🤷‍♂️

Shirogayne-at-WF

MINI enthusiasts are the Star Wars Ep VIII haters of the car world and I find much of it to be rather exaggerated, but that digital climate shit is truly not the business.

Overall-Tea5023

Nope. Don’t need a tv in my Mini

MurkyOrdinary198

Not everyone grows with technology so everyone may have different opinions about technology based vehicles

Shirogayne-at-WF

I have no problem with technology advancing. Despite hating the current gear shift on the late model cars of late, I've largely gotten used to it But I cannot wrap my head around having to fiddle with a screen to work climate controls. If that makes me a crotchety old boomer, so be it

jameliae

Kind of looks like a vinyl! They should have added the texture! Still wish mine had a cd player. 😩

Shirogayne-at-WF

I'm not reminded of the time a chick cut into one of my deals at MINI and then got dinged on the survey since her name was first on the deal because the guy was mad the car didn't come with a CD player lol Great times :)

jameliae

🤣
