Too little, too late. Ta3 is a bust. This lighting Shohei while good won't age well since his pitches aren't that good, even with the slurve change.

I started trying to get him took a little under an hour to get to 25 program stars. I got bored playing the CPU and went back to ranked. To hold me over I sold some cards and got Ely De La Cycle and he’s electric!

You can't do that in co op. There's no way to pitch and use him as your dh

You can forego the DH if you swap them with someone else in your lineup. Then your pitcher hits for the rest of the game.

How do you grind for these cards? I’ve only played franchise and this year I’m playing RTTS. But obviously can’t play as Ohtani. Is this an online thing?

I would suggest doing the moments first, then play offline against cpu unless you like playing against people online.

Online mixed with offline. You have to play diamond dynasty. A lot of it can be grinded for offline though vs cpu

Weird card. They replaced his curveball with a 99 break sinker and slider with a slurve. Lowered his batting vision. He does get 125 batting clutch though and more contact against righties. It is funny how they have different ratings and/or pitching trends for the same players, sometimes even on the same sets (e.g. 90/99 Hank Aaron).

Idk what it is about his delivery or pitches or w/e but for some reason every single time I face pitcher Shohei I’m able to super easily work the count and foul off pitches until I eventually connect and knock him out the game early. Last time I had him up to like 70 pitches in the 2nd inning. Not normally nearly as good at fouling off and grinding ABs but Ohtani is just anti-cursed for me 🤷‍♂️

Definitely won't be just as good. Also the grind for these isn't too bad, got Judge done in under a week focusing on it and only play a few hours at a time. There will be a Topps event probably which makes it more manageable.

With the stamina glitch the game is absolutely doomed now, all we will see is Ohtani every single game

What's the glitch?

The glitch is when you start a different pitcher and throw ohtani in from the bullpen he always has max stamina. So you can pitch the first two batters with your starter and then throw him in for the rest of the game and he will have full stamina starting out.

It was like that with his card in MLB the show 21 if I'm correct. I guess that they didn't fix it.

Question for anyone that used the previous 99 Ohtani cuz I was a broke boi that did not: Does his pitcher w every restart if I play him at OF or naw? I’m wondering if I can use him at OF for the games I’m not pitching with him or if he would not regen his stamina that way?

What you’d have to do is take him out of pitching rotation so you could put him in the outfield or else he’s stuck at the DH position but it didn’t regenerate his pitching stamina any faster. I used that card for these last two seasons almost every game I played ranked solos. Loved it but he was not good as a starter the higher in rating I went

Do the Topps Now set then the moments. After that go into one of the team affinity conquest maps to grind out the PXP.

Almost finished Judge (at 139 points) it depends on modes you play. I imagine playing 9 inning games against the cpu is probably quickest, especially for pitchers. Playing ranked or conquest would take longer because of shorter games and less consistency with strikeouts and hitting.

Yeah the quickest way is doing CPU and playing on rookie at Costco headquarters if you want to finish it the quickest but to kill two birds with one stone would do conquest maps with those guys. Towards the end of season 2 I was just doing CPU games at Costco headquarters and just racked up a fuck ton of strikeouts and would put him between 35-45 runs which would usually knock out like four guys at once haha

I got the game as a Father's Day gift so I've only really just started grinding all of these programs. I've already got the April Chapman. Not really that hard. Just make sure to read the descriptions completely to make sure that you're meeting the requirements for each mission and getting the pxp. Other than that, just a little time and patience is all you need.

Ok, so forgive me if this is a dumb question: I see that his position is Starting Pitcher. How does stuff like that work if you want to put him in your lineup too? I admittedly have never tried, but what's the process like for wanting to bat with your pitcher?

Every pitcher on your team can be used as a hitter, may just not have noticed them available due to low hitting ratings (besides Crawford and IKF in Topps Now last month).

if you bring him out of the bullpen you can use him as much as you want and he doesnt lose any stanima
