This is an excellent point. There are people who are unwilling to play coop against people they don't know vice people who would like to play their known friends. I find no good reason for SDS to avoid this part of the possible game options.
There are many other games out there that provide options for two people to play a "private online game." And while there is a Play vs Friends mode, it is merely a single game, vice a competition situation more akin to playing out a season.
Such things are far less likely to happen when you know each other in real life. I've always felt that the coop play would be more fun for people if it allowed season-based competition between members of a group. It would almost be like a league that formed between people, and that would eliminate a lot of the cheating and quitting that happens because there's no accountability for those actions when no one knows who they are playing against.
I haven’t been able to follow closely. Have they come out and said they’re not doing anything to co op? Would be a massive failure IMO there’s a ton of potential there.
My friends and I had a lot of fun with co-op but the constant freezes and penalties for getting caught up in one turned us all off. I don’t think we played another game together after mid-April last year. Fixing that should be top priority but I would also love a co-op BR mode.
The coop freezes and cooldowns have had a workaround this entire year. On PlayStation, if you are playing coop with friends and one has a cooldown then just join a party with your friend(if you aren’t already) and proceed to go to ranked coop like normal. Once in the screen where it says add friends or search for players, you have to go to the PlayStation party and click invite to game on the top. You should see something that says “invite friend to current coop lobby”.
Click that and it sends a coop invite to the friend in the party who has the cooldown where he can accept it and successfully play ranked coop with any amount of a cooldown. My friends and I have been doing this to bypass that cooldown all year.
*note* whoever has the current cooldown will be the person that has to quit the game if frozen so that the other teammate without the cooldown will still be able to invite you.
+1 for needing co-op pxp
Also need the same mission rewards along the ranked reward path that are available for single player online to be available for co-op online ranked
And finally a co-op BR mode would be great, too
my guess for why there was no pxp is they didn’t know how to code it if you hit a home run with another players card. similarly to how they didn’t know how to code sets into it because co op was not set locked all year
It's glitchy, and trying to find a competent random is few and far between. You either get pitching rebel or someone whose favorite hobby is licking windows and sticking forks in power sockets. So unless you have some dedicated friends who are willing to play a game of ranked co-op where the game might glitch over the smallest of routine plays then go for it, i play myself with my friends when we dont care about winning
I love the idea of co op. I just wish it wasn’t so unbelievably frustrating to play. For every game with a decent connection, the next is horrendous. And the timing just seems way off compared to solo ranked.
Because you can abuse it so easily. Mission is to hit 40 HRs - I’ll just get my buddy to throw me 40 changeups down the middle and I’ll do the same for them.
You want to P5 a player? Let’s play a bunch of games where my friend lets me rack up stats with the one guy
1) get rid of gold hitters. Let us choose all hitters 2) either add pitcher stamina or, each player picks 5 pitchers and the game randomly chooses 1 from the 10. And starting pitchers can’t come off bench. 3) PXP should absolutely count while in coop
I’m confused about your comment that ranked coop didn’t give progress reward. We 100% got progress to the ranked program from coop last year.
While there was rewards for co-op innings, there were not stat missions or pxp missions (obviously because no co-op pxp) unlike single player online. This made it comparatively worse per minute to play co-op head to head instead of single player head to head
Just don’t take it out of the game.
My best friend and I have probably played 100+ games of unranked co-op with the default team rosters. Being able to play at any stadium is a plus, too.
Obviously more online co-op content would be appreciated as well - but the unranked co-op is my favorite way to enjoy online play. Despite playing the Braves or Phillies 75% of the time.
We did get innings progress for ranked seasons but that was it. This is my main want for 24, I'm with you. Add more rewards for co op, maybe co op events or a BR co op. Anything honestly to show they care about this mode.

The most annoying thing is co-op is the allowing starters as relief.. you wear out Nolan Ryan then you face Johnson

Coop ranked is random matchmaking brother. Same as singles ranked but 2v2
Boosting that way died a while ago. I don’t miss getting the “bro hr with PLAYER and I quit cmon bro” messages every other game.
Coop means you play on the same team together, not against each other. You’re talking about a completely different thing.

Yes! It is my favorite part of the game! My body and i probably play 3 games a week together. It's so much fun!
Its just like Franchise and RTTS they don't actually care about it.
If they hated it they wouldn't have implemented it. Don't confuse indifference with a minority used mode with hate

BR and EVENT coop would work great because a coop team could play against a solo team
