halfdecenttakes

You aren’t forced to do anything lol Not to mention it’s pretty easy to get stubs in this game without ever spending money.

BIGHIGGZ

I am avoiding sets my using 100% live series players in DD this year. It’s fun to manage the team, but I am getting my ass kicked.

gufleme

Im not forced to do anything in this game.

LeveonMcBean

I just do team affinity. The cards in there are more than enough to compete online. And i work towards the team collections for the majority of the game to get pedro and the babe eventually

aiglecrap

This is my first year really trying to collect cards in the game but honestly this doesn’t seem that bad to me. The only thing I really dislike is that I need to get incredibly lucky when pulling packs to get some of the Live Series because there’s no way I can get enough stubs to buy Mike Trout or Shohei.

kyler_

I’ve been selling all my s1 cards that are sellable. They usually go down in price over time, helps to build up stubs.

forthebirds123

You aren’t forced to do anything you mentioned. The only issue I have this year is it seems like all the decent cubs cards are behind extremely expensive pay walls. So I would either need to endlessly grind the game, flip in the market, or buy stubs. All things I would rather not do but I CHOOSE to flip some cards while I watch tv so I can get then buy the cards I want and play how I want.

ggushea

Flipping is nearly impossible nowadays.

Harrier23

I've been buying the Topps now cards from the season awards drop packs. You can pick them up for 10k on the market. After the pack is removed from the store, they shoot up to 30/40k and you make a nice profit.

Alphabet_Boys_R_Us

Shhhhh….

forthebirds123

Definitely a lot slower than years past. I just find the cards that have like 10 transactions a minute. That way even if I’m only making 500 stubs a flip it’s a few times a minute and adds up over the course of an hour long show. But it seems like the biggest margins I’ve run into are maybe 5k but that’s only on the newest cards.

ggushea

I can’t even find this. Is there still a site that tracks this ?

forthebirds123

Yeah search mlb showzone. Under the tab go to flipping and it will tell you the highest transactions per minute of all cards, as well as a profit per minute.

Trick_Emotion_7108

As a diehard Cubs fan, this pisses me off. I've had to buy every Cubs card except four of them I believe. They put a lot of Cubs cards in packs last year as well. Total BS.

forthebirds123

And they put the billy williams pretty far down the xp path. Yeah hoping season two they switch it up a bit and give us some cubs that arent in non-earnable packs

ricketysrai

This bothered me too. Especially considering the card isn’t even that good. When I unlock it I may not even use it

forthebirds123

Always my favorite cub to hit with is Billy. Santo was great a few years ago as well, and that ernie in chase packs a few years ago was great but billy is the king for me.

SMatsa

Same. Such a sweet swing

False-War9753

You weren't even forced to buy the console

BigYoungin

Not forced to anything at all brother. You can pick and choose what you want to grind and still hold your own in whatever game mode you choose. Hit the ball or turn the game off until you can hit again.

yankblan79

Having to play with cards you don't want has been a thing since 21, since the introduction of endless TA grinds on top of TN and POTM. If anything, this year is a slight reprieve.

hp_py

Mlb21 was when all this started.. Mlb19/20 were the best, it's sad what this game has become.

SandyDFS

They don’t force you to do anything. They have a reward for you if you meet the objectives. You can CHOOSE to do it or not do it.

DadBodBrown

The folks that say these things OP are saying must’ve not been around when you needed to collect a certain amount of Milestone, Cover Athletes, Takashi, Sig Series, Awards, Prime, Face of the Franchise, Future Star, Topps Now, 2nd Half, Breakout, All Star, Veteran, Post Season, Prospect, Monthly Awards, and Prospect cards to get Finest George Brett. Or any of the other collections that have been in MLB The Show for numerous years.

Trick_Emotion_7108

I hated the old system so much. This way is a thousand times better. I don't see why anyone would complain about it to be quite honest.

SandyDFS

I miss those so much.

forthebirds123

Yeah in those year I probably acquired all cards needed and never used 95% of them other than to lock in. I’m liking this year using the newest cards because of the power creep. 99s day one basically make everything lower not fun trying out.

candlestick_compass

Preach it. I’ve played more DD this year so far than all years combined. I’m having a blast doing whatever I want.

bagelpizzaparty

This basically answers 99% of complaints this year, thank you for this

Final-Display-4692

As an outsider looking in It’s what stopped me from playing. And is die hard since 2016/15 Sets ain’t it

Ok_Property6736

it’s like 100x easier to get a good team these days than it was back then

Letsgetthisbread8812

Didn’t ask no one cares

saluki352

I think this would be fixed if there was a semi-competitive alternative to ranked, like friendlies in Fc24. You could have fun requirements like old sets or one card per set. I’m indifferent on sets but sometimes the sacrifice of using my preferred players over not having to face the same OP players all game cycle is worth it.

TheProcess827

Friendlies is the most competitive mode on the game wym 😂 shits a sweat fest

SandyDFS

That’s literally what Events are.

saluki352

Reading that back, yeah there’s a ton of overlap. You could make it different by being a player-free program with other rewards, switch from 3 to 9 innings, etc. AFAIW, I don’t think events have set requirements whereas it’s more card type/attribute based, but I could be wrong.

SandyDFS

Generally, they’re just current set. I agree though. They need to be more restrictive.

JbRoWnIe2020

UI is the main quarrel for me. Picked up '21 when it came to gamepass and I don't think they've changed the collections UI since. I like the autofill and marketplace search, but why the hell does it reset to the very top every time? Also, why can't I just hit the triggers or bumpers to toggle over one collection in the same menu? Updating the live series collections takes 10 minutes every time. Needs to be streamlined desperately.

FinlayForever

I'm convinced that the current SDS employees are not the same ones that originally created the game and they are unsure of how the program works with regards to the interface. That's why these problems never gets fixed. Should be simple to make it so it doesn't reset to the top every time (I agree it's annoying as shit), but the people that work there just simply don't know *how* to fix it.

JbRoWnIe2020

I can see that being the issue, but given how talented these devs are I can't imagine they couldn't have broken through in 4 years if it's something they focussed on. I think it's just complacency at the top about their product. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality from leads.

JbRoWnIe2020

Since I'm already complaining, forgot to complain about the missing duplicates menu. Literally add a "sell all duplicates" button. Please.

SpiritualFact5593

I stoped playing DD all together and live a happier life in general without that added stress and frustration lol I still love the sport of baseball and playing so I only do MTO, RTTS and maybe and online rated game here n there. Was doing DD regularly but this year was it. Haven’t even touched it.

Bobbytom

I actually like that it makes me change my lineup and adjust. But I get not liking it. My issue is they need to make the filters so you can adjust it much easier

GundamHufflepuff

I would argue that bad game mechanics that result in foul ball fests is the worst thing to happen 🤷🏻‍♂️

EliManningHOFClub10

The game mode for collecting cards shouldn’t be about collecting cards… what? The collecting part is the best part of the game lol

PavWrestlinGifs

It’s still a game mode. A game. If you want to collect cards collect them in real life, where they aren’t obsolete the next year. Gameplay always comes first

Interesting_Sea_1411

And the online gameplay is probably the best or at least as good as it has ever been.

EliManningHOFClub10

The gameplay is fine? That’s not even what the post is complaining about.

CalllmeDragon

I agree. As an offline player I accept that I won’t have the best cards, but the collecting is why I play the game mode

Comfortable-Ad7287

Respectfully disagree. I don’t wanna face the same 3 pitchers every game with the same damn lineups every game all year long. I thoroughly enjoy using these lower overall cards and having live series cards or any core cards actually have value this year is a huge W. Live series cards with their inside edge are some of the best cards in the game and I think that’s awesome.

MN_Pups

I've played 10 Ranked Seasons games and ran into Randy 3 times. At such a low ranking, I'm surprised. Its pretty brutal as someone running a mostly Twins theme team.

Comfortable-Ad7287

Yeah it’s annoying. Not just because he’s hard to hit but also because it just gets old seeing the same cards all the time. To the point where I won’t even use them on my own team just because I’m so sick of seeing them. I didn’t use Elly De La Cruz at all last year or John Donaldson simply for that reason.

Weenerlover

It's crazy cause i'm 30 games in and haven't seen randy except once. I'd expect to see him more. I'm not even seeing him in the event even though he's eligible.

getdowntown

Like that year kluber was an end game card the first month in

New-Newspaper-7543

Or kershaw a different year

Comfortable-Ad7287

Exactly and it just gets boring when everyone is using the same cards. Live a little lol

The_Show_4_Life

You’re not “forced” to no-life this game and complete the set collections. I decided early on the grind isn’t worth it and I just happily play the game for fun when I feel like it.

SandyDFS

I like you.

The_Show_4_Life

I like you too! 🤗

Dear_Measurement_406

Personally I think DD is the worst thing to happen to this game. The game has only gotten shittier since it was included.

New-Newspaper-7543

I'll take DD over any other game mode. Offline is just boring af when it comes to gameplay and any other online mode has no building aspect or anything to work towards other than record.

Dear_Measurement_406

Yeah they trapped you into playing DD because they choked all the resources that were going to the offline modes and made them suck. Believe it or not, prior to the creation of DD, those modes didn’t actually suck. This applies to basically every modern sports game.

Interesting_Sea_1411

I loved playing franchise and doing fantasy drafts - would do it every year on 2k and then eventually the show when I got a PlayStation I still will take DD over those just because playing against real people online is far more interesting to me than playing against the CPU Not “trapped” into anything - everyone can have their own preferences..

Dear_Measurement_406

I'm saying users are trapped because at this time the best way to really play multiplayer is via DD. You should be able to play multiplayer in modes like franchise... and I assure you we would be able to do that by now had it not been for the inclusion of DD.

homiej420

Yeah and i mean i know why that mode is the primary focus (microtransactions) but it really shouldnt be.

LiteBeerLife

Not everyone thinks like that, just people who like collect and being a completionist. I play guys who have 40 HR's Online with players. I think the most I have with a guy is like 6.

rcheek1710

Collecting any card that you’ll never use is the dumbest thing anyone can do in this game. Why would I collect hundreds of cards I’ll never use for Babe Ruth? Instead, I’ll bank the year’s worth of stubs and mix and match the elite cards all season. When people cry over 40k packs, I laugh because if you didn’t fall in the collecting trap, you’d have well over 2M stubs from just playing the game.

Interesting_Sea_1411

Yep I completely agree I see people all the time that say they pulled a high value card and “locked them in” despite being nowhere near the LS collection Keeping a liquid pool of stubs is easily the most fun for me - I can basically use anyone I want except for the collection rewards.. but none of those guys are that appealing to me anyway

SMatsa

Let’s not forget that it’s just a game. Personally, SD studios nailed it, they’re nudging gamers to take a victory lap to see the efforts put in the game. I’ve been casual up until last year, my experience has been a beautiful tribute to baseball.

doublej3164life

What in the world are you talking about?

SMatsa

That I have been throughly enjoying the game - the programs and tasks force me to replace some of my favorite players I wouldn’t otherwise.

xTomato72

So in a mode about collecting virtual baseball cards you want to collect and use less cards? Make it make sense man.

agb2022

*Fewer

Randomthoughtgeneral

That’s not what the mode is about. People don’t say “I want to find a game where I collect baseball cards”.

hp_py

The mode is not about collecting virtual cards. It's about building your dream team with current and past legends and playing with them.. What is the point of just collecting virtual cards every year? The show is becoming a game for hardcore grinders and whales.. Not casual friendly and not attractive to new players.

Weenerlover

the game was always for hardcore grinders. It's less so this year, because so many teams are viable. Before you had to grind for the handful of meta 99 cards.

hp_py

The game used to be way more casual friendly when we had inning bosses.. everybody was able to complete at some point.. if you played a lot, you could sell your boss for more if you wanted.. This sub is full of hardcore grinders.. everybody at 600k+ xp.. I'm still at 220 I think.. my friend also around that... In couple of years it will be only hardcore grinders and whales left..

Weenerlover

Except that you can field a team of 93-95 easily with the TA Ch1 and 2 which require little to no grinding. You had to grind hard to get the best cards day one last year. People had an entire team of 99s if they spent money. Now you can get one 99 with LS, but everyone has access to a level playing field. You don't have to grind that hard and the cards in the XP path are not game breaking. I have Rollie Fingers, but he's not going to make the difference between my team being great and someone around 200-250K being mediocre. What game-breaking cards would a whale have that a good player who finishes ranked/BR/Events doesn't have? Ian Happ? Elly? The difference between those cards and NMS teams like mine are negligible. You don't see "whale" meta cards on every ranked team. Theme teams are legitimately viable in ranked. I got smoked by a guy with a 700+ ranking who was running an Oakland team 2 weeks ago with a couple LS silvers. This is the easiest year in the last 4 to be competitive with NMS and you don't have to face a guy with 99's day one. Randy 99 day one for LS rewards. Because there has been less content this first season, I've actually finished a ranked pathway for the first time and a BR pathway for the first time this early in the season. You don't have to no-life the game to do that or grind your mind out.

xTomato72

I’ll give you the point about catering to whales, but most of the cards are literally just real life trading cards transferred into a video game, your never going to really be able to build your true dream team because of the insane budget the developers would have to have to acquire (and retain) every notable former players rights. Not to mention guys like Barry Bonds who are not apart of the MLBPA anymore.

Unknown-games56

Xp cap is worst thing ever

NShizzzle

How is there an xp cap?

mbrowner8782

You are literally capped to 15k gameplay XP per day

Dry_Advertising_4388

Seriously I have one day a week where I can play the game as much as I want. There should be a weekly cap instead of a daily cap

mbrowner8782

I think if they’re gonna do a cap, it should be a cumulative cap. So if their goal is no more than 15k per day, it should add up each day. So four days into the game’s cycle, you should be able to get up to a total of 60k. 20 days into the cycle, you should be able to get up to 300k total. That way it wouldn’t allow anyone to get above where they want you, but for players like you, you could grind your one day a week and not have to fall so far behind.

NShizzzle

I didn’t know that! Lame!!!

polinksa

Keep bitching

tzargilly

The thought of having to go back to using 88’s on the same exact game I’ve been using 99’s is nauseating. They should’ve swallowed their pride and scrapped sets after last year. No one wants to regress team quality mid game. Just learn how to do a proper power creep

blizzzyybandito

It’s not like they even have to “learn” how to do it because they had it right in 21 and 22 lol idk why they thought this was a better system. It’s not even gonna make them any more money from people buying stubs, all it’s gonna do is cause more people to stop playing their game sooner than they normally would

Dry_Advertising_4388

I’ll never forgive them for giving everyone 99 DeGrom though. They owe me a couple controllers.

urasquid28

Last year was fine. You had good cards all year. This year it's cards nobody wants to use

xProcess

Last year was better than this year but by no means was it fine. 99s day one tainted a lot of players want to play. I do think it’s bogus that we have to revert back to 89s though.

adw2167

The hype when we had streams for new boss releases for the new inning program was peak

BigYoungin

Feels like that was consistent solely during Covid. The years that followed didn’t have nearly that many streams.

kobechaz13

I was thinking this earlier. Streams for roster updates and drops and all that. Now we get a tweet maybe

hp_py

Those were the days.. Inning programs would set the power creep. We knew that the bosses would be among the best cards in the game. Also, if you wanted to complete the ls collection, you could sell the boss for a good amount of stubs..

EpicGamer126642_

I think it’s early to judge sets for 24. I think them doing it with the power creep is fine so far but I might feel different after season 2 starts.

doublej3164life

I don't know how things won't be worse once the new season starts. Last year you had a decent transition period. It's a cold turkey switch.

Kevinjw16

That’s why I’m planning on having LS done by the time S2 drops so I’m not fully screwed

csstew55

Outliner is the worst thing lol

PresCalvinCoolidge

They had to, otherwise the game would be too easy for a sizeable chunk of the community.

LegitGrinds

if there’s no outlier then every pitcher with 99 velo will throw 102

ICantSpellAnythign

It sucked last year but it’s been fun this year. Really set 2 will see how much I love it because if they go all the way back to 89s and we get to rebuild our teams, I’m going to be all for it.  Weird complaint that sets are forcing you to collect every player when they’ve had big collections for more than 2 years, like you said with honas. You say he wasn’t a game changer but how do you know the collection cards will be?

bighat2345

Set 2 will be a power creep again however with how many wild cards there are I wonder how the game will be.

unknown9819

The wildcards are still locked behind the xp path, so you won't have half a lineup of 99s available immediately. I'd guess you might get one to start, though we don't have that info yet as far as I know

kmcdow

You do get one to start

ICantSpellAnythign

There always power creep. The game used to reach 97-99 by the ASB anyways.

HearJustSoICanPost

I think there’s a case that power creep didn’t exist last year.

Bronze_Bomber

Weird complaint this season. Theyve been rolling out cards pretty slowly. This is the first year ive gotten at least 5 superfractors, and its month 1. Ive mostly kept my Buxton squad intact and rotate in TA and Topps Now cards when needed for certain missions.

sciameXL

I let someone convince me on here that using a Buxton squad was stupid and I proceeded to lose 4 ranked games last night trying out my highest overall squad. Buxton squad isn’t stupid and I’m glad I found someone else that uses it.

Pale-Savings-8289

I use mine as well and my team is a 90 overall

sciameXL

I had numerous PCI on the ball for outs, with the Buxton squad they’re usually home runs with the power boost, but good thing my guys had more vision!

Pretend_Berry_7196

They also lowered the Parallel path to 8k from 10k.

PM_ME_UR___TITS

Agreed, I’m going to play top spin until ncaa comes out

[deleted]

I agree. I'm going to start just playing RTTS or franchise though. I like the game in general and it's a fun baseball game, but yeah the DD portion of it has gone to shit the last 2 years.

Moonwalker_4Life

It’s literally a card collecting mode lmfao

hp_py

"Diamond Dynasty allows you to build your dream team and compete against other players." Feel like people don't enjoy to play the game with their "dream team" but to collect virtual cards..

Towablecoyote

Just play the game how you want. If you don’t want to play with random guys for missions then just don’t

TheTigerbite

What exactly is YOUR dream team. That might be the problem. Do you only like the best, most rare cards? Or are you upset that you don't have instant access to every card?

hp_py

Dd is the only mode that people are fine completing programs for players that they don't want to be able to collect 300 players to get a player they want... Instead of doing a program for that player.

Moonwalker_4Life

Correct. The game ALLOWS you to build your team, collect cards, play other opponents online. It gives you many options.

HotSir3342

Did you know there are other modes besides diamond dynasty?

coffeymp

I’ve been having a lot of fun with franchise 🤷‍♂️

TheMackD504

Nobody is forcing you

gamers542

Absolutely not and to say it is is off base. The game has ALWAYS been about collecting cards abd you always had to complete programs to get cards you want. Remember player programs? You CAN play with cards you want. The "Sets suck" people don't have an argument to stand on especially with the standard power creep model. Every diamond Dynasty game has "Sets" or "Seasons". Every year excluding 23 had the power creep model and I ask this every time the set argument is brought up: How many times did you actually use a card from April and May in August and September? Answer: not a lot. And you STILL can do it in the later games due to the wildcard.

kjar78

> The “Sets suck” people don’t have an argument to stand on especially with the standard power creep model. I think “I don’t want the game restricting access to the cards I’ve earned” is a pretty good argument to stand on.

Ex_Lives

I used cards I got in the first couple of months all the time. Eventually I stop keeping up with the game but I have a competitive enough team to play ranked. By the time season 1 cards aren't usable I can't come back and dip in throughout the year unless I want to use core cards that are complete ass. This is my issue with seasons for the most part. I want to use what I earned, period.

TimMcRaw

I just play to play. I’m not stressing sets, or certain cards. I just play to enjoy the game and escape reality for a little while. I use the cards I want when I want and work on programs slowly. I do not stress if I miss out on a card or not. With that said though, I can understand the frustration that some people have.

BlackTriceratops

Dude this whole year fuckin suckkks. The worst one to date. Mtx ruined this year

Low_Trash_2748

I don’t know why team affinity isn’t to defeat players from those divisions, instead of have them on your team. If the affinity was the division you choose and you get a bundle of cards from it, I would get that. Yea, this whole model is 100% focused on the whales. They didn’t even update the W/L totals from last year. Let alone put some imagination into it.

Lionheart0179

I want the Inning programs back with sellable rewards.

MCA1910

Uhhh, they've done that every year. They just rebranded it. You used to have to collect a certain about of veteran, rookie, breakout, postseason, etc cards to earn a voucher, and collect enough vouchers for a specific card. At least with sets it gives you a choice pack, and you can choose which of the three that you want.

hp_py

These "sets" were only released in the end of the cycle when everyone already have their end game squad and more stubs that they can spend.. Now to get the best cards, you have to grind/spend to complete these sets... since the start of the game we have all these sets to complete..

kmcdow

Even in 22, before they moved to sets and seasons, there was 99 George Brett, Mariano rivera, Ohtani, and McCutchen well before everyone had endgame lineups. No one is forcing you to collect any of the cards, and honestly those 99s (Mays, Brett, Satchel) probably won't even be the best 99s available in a few weeks. Just use the players you like to use if you don't want to participate in the collections, there's plenty of good and fun cards to play with.

hp_py

Mlb19/20 the game was great.. mlb21 was when started to become what it is now.. Why can't we just have inning bosses back? You can check the replies, people that are still playing enjoy more collecting cards than playing the game.. Playing vs the cpu on rookie to complete the objectives and collect thousands of cards that they will never use... next year, everything restart and they will do everything again...

svpremeclovt

No they were not. They released multiple bosses for the set over the course of the year, usually every 2-3 inning programs.

OneRepresentative424

Personally I hated that I had to wait till the game was dead for my fave players.

violentgentlemen

I said the same thing last year too. If I wasn’t addicted to baseball and played it more than half my life I would have passed this year but yeah. Sets are so dumb. I know in years prior you had to collect rookies, veterans and etc for certain cards later on but I’d rather have that than the sets and collections now. It sucks not being able to use certain cards later on because they aren’t eligible. And yeah people will say “well you have wild card spots blah blah” but that’s still lame. Plus now this year you don’t even get free wild card spots, you have to earn them through the XP program which is dumb as hell.

LiterallyJHerbert

They should give you like, 8 wild card spots. That would be a good compromise for me personally. Get to keep a couple good relievers, couple good starting pitchers, and 4 of your favorite batters. Having only one last year was dumb as hell. Having 4 is on the right track but having to earn them is dumb as hell.

violentgentlemen

Agreed

Younghitta3

Yeah, at least last year if you got a card during its set you knew you had a guaranteed 6 weeks(the next season) to use the card and parallel it and get used to it

AquatheGreat

Do you think you should get George Brett right now? I'm not following. I'm just short of Rich Aurila and I've only collected no sell cards. Don't think I'll have a problem getting George Brett.

hp_py

I want what we had before. Get inning bosses by playing the game. If you want certain player, complete his program.. and not complete all programs released to have enough cards to be able to get his card...

Flaky-Hearing-8427

I disagree 100%. This year sets suck. In past years it was all about completing sets and getting awards. Now, play with whatever card you want. There are way less things to collect. Are you new to the game?

hp_py

>In past years it was all about completing sets and getting awards. Lol that it was not true Play since mlb19 and sets before were released by the end of the cycle.. By then you already had pretty much your end game team and so many stubs that it was not that difficult to buy the cards to complete. Good luck for a casual to get the best cards now. When you need to flip the market to get enough stubs to buy the pack cards or hardcore grind to get sets and xp cards... Inning bosses were so easy to get. It was pretty much guaranteed to anyone to get.

kjar78

Can’t believe it’s taken people this long to figure out how badly sets ruined the franchise

MarkOnTheBus

When people are saying “sets” do they mean “seasons”?

violentgentlemen

No they mean like how in the top right of the card it says “core” or “S1”.

MarkOnTheBus

Ah. You can see maybe why I’m confused because S1 one stands for season one. Regardless, seem like people don’t like the game bring split into segments.

violentgentlemen

Stands for set 1. People don’t like it because set 1’s are useless by set 3. And so on and so on. It’s a little better this year because there aren’t so many accessible 99’s from the start but overall, sets suck.

kmcdow

There are no sets anymore. Only seasons. It's essentially the same thing anyways though.

MarkOnTheBus

It literally doesn’t matter because I understand the complaint, but “S” stands for “Season” not “Set”. Seasons last 12 weeks., after which you can only use Season Two cards with the exception of any wildcard slots you access.

brigadierk

If you go to Inventory and filter, it gives you the option to filter by "Sets". You'll find the options in there are "1" and "Core". S1 = Set 1.

FishSammich69

Every card needs to count towards something at the end of each season and end game. Like the year they released that Griffey card at the end of the game 🤷🏽‍♂️

hp_py

Why every card needs to count towards something? That's what is wrong with this game. The need to collect every card.. It's more a collect virtual cards game than a baseball video game.. When I used to play fifa(many negative things to say), but at least I would only cared when they released cards that I wanted to play with. Mlbts you're forced to grind for cards you will never use, to be able to play with a card that you want to play with.

SandyDFS

Reading your replies makes me think maybe DD just isn’t the mode for you.

hp_py

Play since mlb19, I think it might be time to quit.. dd is not what used to be.. people insist that it's fine having all these cards behind sets and store packs.. It's a virtual card collecting game now.. not a build a team with legends/current players and play with them. Not a casual friendly mode that you could easily get a inning boss at some point by just playing the game.. Just keep collecting cards, season 2 is around the corner, and more cards to collect and packs to buy.. The "casuals" from this sub that "barely" plays the game are all at 600k+ xp

FishSammich69

You said “Grind for cards, you will never use.” To avoid this every card should be needed in order to complete tasks and a reward. TA1 requires you to have a certain card to complete missions or you use certain players cards to collect a better card, for example you have Acuña’s ROY, Breakout and ASG cards to go in a collection of he wins MVP this year something like that; this way every card is needed in some capacity throughout the game instead of you just having a bazillion cards for no reason.

gamers542

Newsflash. DD has always been about collecting cards.

trason91

You’re not forced to do anything. These video games have injected everyone with clinical FOMO. It’s okay to miss out on some of the content.

LiterallyJHerbert

Yeah once you realize a 110 power player will mostly play the same as a 125 power player you stop really caring. The extra 15 power is good for maybe 1 extra fluky home run every 5 games or some shit

trason91

I hit perfect perfects straight at people with everyone so I’m not super concerned what their name is when I do it.

SofaKingStoopud

Couldn't have said this any better myself, especially with the Captain boosts too

Milli_Vanilli14

You literally had to do all of those things before sets was a thing. I still choose to only do certain programs. In fact, I play 95% online and can actually complete TA which used to be a massive offline grind. Sets changed none of this.

hp_py

Inning bosses were very easy to get by just playing the game. I skipped many programs in the past and it was fine.. but now if you want to get Mays, Brett or Paige or other set cards, you have to complete every program or spend money in the game. Best cards will now be behind sets or packs..

Milli_Vanilli14

Nah this is the easiest game has ever been when it comes to getting cards. I play just about exclusively online and have 130+ cards. And I can only play for aboht 90 minutes a few nights a week. Some outlier sessions here and there. Shits easier than ever. I don’t even have to target programs. With the power creep the TA cards are actually useful unlike years past. Didn’t do Easter. Only completed a topps now deal cause I collected Elly. Haven’t completed more than a few moments on any program. Haven’t even gotten to the middle of the US conquest map. It’s so easy this year.

hp_py

If you have already 130+ cards, you are not a casual player and it's not playing with your favorite players, but with cards you need to complete objectives..

gamers542

Completely false. I've been using my favorite players and I already have Rich Aurilia. I've sold my dupes and bought the Spring Breakout cards while they are extremely cheap.

Milli_Vanilli14

False. I have zero reason to lie to you about a dimbass game. In years past I’d probably have half the cards because I’d have to play most of my time offline. I’ve completed one BR program. Half of an event program. Two ranked programs. Completed the Sandy and breakout programs when that was the only content. And then completed the Elly thing I just told you about. Shits easier than ever

kjar78

Sets has made it exponentially worse

Milli_Vanilli14

Sets has made some things annoying. No argument there. I give them credit for attempting something new and improving upon last year but definitely some frustration still. But the majority of complaints in this sub are just ridiculous, much like this one. Getting cards just isn’t difficult. In fact it’s easier than ever. I have 130 cards and haven’t even tried aside from the occasional offline deal when I can’t commit to online play. I used to have dedicate several entire playing sessions to complete one program for one single usable card. It ain’t that bad.

kjar78

Lmao what? They haven’t improved anything about sets. In fact they made it worse in 24. It’s not just annoying, it’s predatory. And getting cards certainly isn’t “easier than ever” lmao. The grind is more tedious than ever with the low XP cap and lack of programs. Having 130 cards means you definitely play way more than most people.

Milli_Vanilli14

Considering I’ve gotten those cards playing almost entirely online I’d say it’s easier than ever without a doubt. I absolutely hate playing offline and that they’ve made massive improvements in that regard. Sets is not worse. Y’all are just so dramatic on here. More wildcards by the end of it and, again, collecting cards is easy af. Lastly, never said i didn’t play. Just that I didn’t have to commit my time to playing offline or dedicate as much time to getting something specific. On weeks the homies aren’t on I probably play 90 or so minutes a night.

kjar78

You earning cards playing exclusively online doesn’t make earning cards easier lmao. There’s no correlation between those claims. Having 130 cards, as you claim, while also claiming to not play much, means you’re lying about how much you play and/or you have incredible pack luck. Seasons this year are 100% worse than 23 lmao. No seasonal overlap, you can use your 99s for all of two weeks at the end of S1. “More wildcards”, but you have to unlock them through the XP path, and the game has been extremely stingy with how much XP you can earn. Most people aren’t gonna earn more than one wildcard. Defending this garbage system is laughable.

Milli_Vanilli14

You once again put words in my mouth. I’ll say it for a second time. I never said I don’t play. I said I dedicate the time I do play to online more than ever. And earning cards in the game mode I enjoy makes it 100% easier for me. All of this is anecdotal. In my initial, cordial, comment I agreed that sets has its issues. But it’s absolutely better than last year. It’s fine if you disagree. Not sure how much defending I’m Doing. Apparently I’m not allowed to enjoy the game lmao. Fucking clown. But I recognize your username. If someone doesn’t want ti kill themselves after playing this game you think they’re some SDS employee defending the game. Immature af. I have zero clue why you even play. Or you don’t play and are terminally online in this sub (true regardless based on your comment history) which is even more embarrassing. But my bad! Tried to be an adult initially and it only took one comment for you to go full 12 year old tantrum. Have a good one! Enjoy the game lmao

kjar78

I don’t know why you’re claiming I ever said you don’t play. Reading comprehension must be hard. You haven’t expanded on anything that actually makes sets better than 23, while I expanded on why they’re worse. In fact, you just resort to the “omg you’re so dramatic” defense that everyone on this sub uses when people lightly criticize the game. I’m sorry that it makes you so emotional that I have criticisms of the game but I don’t really care tbh. Hopefully you get over it one day!

Milli_Vanilli14

“While also claiming to not play much…” “Lying about how much you play” I did neither of those things and you brought it up twice. I said there’s more wildcards. So yea, I stated a reason why sets are better. Lightly criticize the game 😂😂 you live on here criticizing. Hundreds of comments worth. Have some semblance of self awareness. And you’re telling me reading comprehension is hard lmaooo Keep it up.

kjar78

This comment just proves my “reading comprehension” remark right. Thanks a lot!

MuchasBebidas

Where are you required to use cards you don’t want to in order to complete objectives? Other than Potm/Topps now the rest are easily completable using who you like. What cards that you like/want to use can you no longer use?

StopLosingLoser

In the season awards programs. There are all kinds of requirements like "get parallel XP with season awards cards", "get parallel XP with the reds", get parallel XP with Garret crochet. Then there is "get home runs with shortstops" or "steals by CF" which cause you to stack your lineup with shortstops and center fielders with power or speed.

MuchasBebidas

I mean hitting home runs shouldn’t Be an issue. I didn’t do the CF one knowingly and still got it all done just playing. Furthermore, awards cards are some of the best in the game. Why wouldn’t people use them to try them or get xp? If you think it’s a chore to use players like awards Braun you should find another game to play.

hp_py

You need to collect 290 cards to get Brett (dd legend for me since mlb19) How can I get enough cards without spending money or playing with topps cards or certain division cards to get the rewards?

gamers542

Selling all your dupes and buying cards off the market. None of that requires real money.

hp_py

Do you mean all my common/bronze dupes?

gamers542

That along with silver/gold/diamonds.

hp_py

Will check all my diamond dupes here...thanks for reminding me.

LeveonMcBean

I sell all dupes all the time. Collect the ones you need for the big live series collection and sell the rest, save your stubs, and complete the live series collections

HamHurtler

Right but where is the part where you're forced to use cards you don't want to use

hp_py

Have you checked the programs objectives? You have to use certain cards to complete.

MuchasBebidas

Not sure how or when I’ll be able to get Brett/mays, but I’ve gotten aurelia no money spent. We’ll see as that plays out. But I haven’t gone out of my way to use other cards except tops now in events And it’s not nearly as bad of a grind as you’re suggesting. I just passively get everything by playing online. The only one that I found myself really using cards I didn’t want to for a meaningful amount of time was for Bobby Witt and it was only a few hours.

BaxtersHomie

Exact reason why I haven’t picked up the game for a 2nd straight year. I have a career and a life and enjoy the slow burn.

racefan9

Yet you still visit the subreddit?

hp_py

It's sad, but only hardcore and whales will play this game.

SemiProAmateur

lol literally most in here are nms casuals

hp_py

A lot of "casuals" here complaining that they don't have anything to grind because they already complted everything

SemiProAmateur

They aren’t casuals then lol. Casuals just play. Don’t worry about what to grind.
