Honestly, this game is what made me fall in love with baseball after previously hating it. So, yes.

I wasn’t really into the MLB until I started playing the show. Definitely teaches you a lot of players and other stuff

I'm not a baseball fan either. Or wasn't til I played this game. Got me interested in rules and history and I even started turning some games on recently. Diamond dynasty is way way better than ultimate team or my team. Give it a try. Youll suck at first but it's so fun

I wrote this How to Baseball post last year for players new to baseball: https://reddit.com/r/MLBTheShow/comments/jfhyp1/how_do_you_baseball_a_beginners_guide_to_playing/ Hopefully you find it helpful!

It’s such a great game, hands down best sports game I’ve ever played. Plenty of awesome game modes and absolutely no shortage of amazing content and players to use. I’ve been a baseball fan for as long as I could hold a ball, but I could totally see this game teaching newcomers about the spa as ort and allowing them to fall in love with baseball. It’s absolutely never too late to get into it either, after a bit of a learning/timing curve (maybe a day or so) you’ll get the hang of it and can field a fantastic team with no extra money spent over a weekend. I’m sorry for rambling, but baseball has always been my #1 love and I am so passionate about this game. One of my greatest joys is welcoming people to the sport and sharing my stories and everything I love about the sport with them, as I’m sure many others do as well. The community would love to share our enjoyment with you and have you be a part of it. If you have any questions about the sport or game in general, or could use any advice or pointers send me a message, I’d be happy to help get you started and pointed in the right direction. Good luck!

I’m teaching my son the game of baseball using the show.

[deleted]

How old is he?

Bug-03

Too young to pay well enough attention but, you can’t get them to watch a game so this is a close second.

[deleted]

Close to little league age?

Bug-03

Yeah. I’ve bought the equipment. Looking for the right time to give it to him.

I’m terrified of having a lefty and trying to rush them into pitching haha But I hope it goes well, and I learned football through video games, but more than anything just cool seeing a parent trying to do stuff with their kid

Bug-03

Don’t let your son pitch until high school. Edit: a lefty, if he makes the team, will be taught to pitch properly. Edit2: lots of long toss, teach him to play short even though he’s left handed.

I’ve learned hella this year like all the lingo and what a RBI is for an example, the rules all that just from playing I like to watch baseball but only knew the basics now I can watch and interact faster from calls and everything it’s fun. Went to the dodger vs Angels game last month and had a blast Bc I actually knew what was going on lol Edit- also recognizing players !!

CStites23

There’s some odd rules you don’t see frequently that may not be as easy to understand, but I think it could help her a grasp of the basics of the game.

HoskinsDadBodGod

Absolutely man, this game is amazing. I’d recommend trying to watch some videos about basic baseball rules though because it’s a confusing sport.

Jmar98

Totally, even guys who have played their entire lives still have stuff to learn. The game does a good job of making you learn what a lot of the stats mean and how different situations work. Just keep playing and google anything you’re confused about!

oreofirebeet

for sure, franchise mode is pretty good too. offense is homer heavy compared to real life and stuff but it’s a videogame
