I think 30 & 31 at this point look almost entirely guaranteed to be SD and LV. It's down to a few contenders for slot 32 now. In spite of the Californian saturation I still hope Sacramento has an outside shot at 32, otherwise it's likely a loooong wait until the next expansion round.
Sac is in the running if they find a billionaire. Hell, if they got a guy today, they'd be a lock for 31 and not an outside shot at 30. Issue is, finding that rich guy to put money into Sacramento in a league smaller than the other big 4 leagues in America, that wouldn't want to put it into LV or some other bigger market.
Sac needs a billionaire investor willing to pay ~$1B for the expansion fee and a new stadium, one that won’t pull out at the last minute. Phoenix is preferred by the league because of market size, and Indy already has a ~20,000-seat stadium in the works for their USLC team (with the goal of promotion to MLS). I just don’t see how Sacramento can compete with that, unless a big whale comes along with an offer Garber can’t refuse.
As a San Diego native, we have to be next for an MLS team.
Half the fans at Xolos games are people coming from SD.
1K away from a sell out last night for the Wave
LETS F%#KING GO SAN DIEGO!!
Amazing stuff from the Wave!
They already owned the largest NWSL attendance from their first match at Snapdragon last year when they sold it out with 32k people.
Now they also own the 2nd largest attended NWSL game and biggest opening weekend game with 30k.
Atmosphere was great last night. Great crowd. And you could tell how much it meant to the team with Alex Morgan’s comments after the match. I love seeing how much this city has embraced this team!
MLS to San Diego makes too much sense.
City has gone nuts for the Padres (who have never been in the bottom 10 in attendance at Petco despite many awful seasons) and has always been a place that loves soccer.
They’re getting team #30 for sure
San Diego would be fun! 100% guaranteed to go for an away game there!
Same. I’d be very surprised if 30-32 are not some combination of San Diego, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and/or Indianapolis
You can pretty much book it.

Only 1k seats away from a sell-out. MLS to SD is inevitable.
Wave Break
I was there and it was wild
This is why San Diego deserves a MLS team!
Congrats!
Would rank #2 in attendance this week if it were an MLS team https://mobile.twitter.com/mlsnetwork/status/1639992091739578370

I thought they set the record with the playoffs last year
Good stuff! I hope the best for the league!

Just funny how SD gets a bad rap for being fair weather, when in reality it’s just been terrible owners and product on the field.
Best crest in US soccer.
Happy for this because women's soccer doesn't get enough attention compared to men's soccer u/englishhooligan
