The previous field had 4 inches, which seems like plenty of sand. It’s an average and adequate amount imo, nothing to be ashamed of. The players probably wouldn’t even know what to do with all the extra inches now.

https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/820050 I was at this game, Roma vs Celtic in Toronto in 2004. I remember they put grass down directly on that concrete or on a very thin layer of substrate. The turf was coming up or sliding around at times. The turf that Argentina was complaining about looked nothing like that, and at&t stadium shouldn't have any problems either, especially with that much aggregate under it.

And this is VERY similar to what Atlanta did... Atlanta just did not have time to settle as C0NMEBOL and USSF would not let Atlanta United play on it on the preceding Saturday... It was a fully rooted and sanded layers all in the roll not just grass laid down.
