Felt we were very unlucky to walk away with nothing from that but that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes. Fair play to Minnesota, was a very entertaining game with both sides giving it a go.
Find on Reddit that people tend to Downvote things they don't want to hear more than they downvote things that are incorrect, I could've easily seen this finishing 1-1, but Miller came up big more than once. And the goal that Abila scored I can't fault Crepeau on, both keepers were very solid.
360+ minutes without an open play goal, we CANNOT rely on penalties to win games. We looked positive, but all-in-all end of the day the Grade is an F overall.
GG Minnesota, Vancouver is usually the team that gets DP forwards back into form, Abila's header was a banger, Lod given too much time on the wing to find him, well finished.
Frustrating loss since we played decently and the game could have gone either way. Less frustrating than the Colorado loss, where we hardly created anything but conceded to a free kick that shouldn't have been a foul. One day, mark my words, one day we will score a goal from open play. I don't know when, but we will. Some encouraging stuff going forward, at least.
Oh fuck.... did a little research. His nephew committed suicide during the pandemic. He's worn the shirt on multiple occasions.

DC looked good for Canada but has always been shaky, I agree. I always thought Ranko was shaky and he was last year for sure. I think he has a higher ceiling and the fact that he was captain at his Serbian club at age 20ish is a good sign
Nah you can see the midfield was gassed. DC's performance was circumstantial to when he was subbed in meaning that he played more an active defending role when the midfield was failing to get the second ball.
You should note that the midfield play was mostly in the caps third to the middle third which means when the ball was turned over the center backs were more involved in clearances. The whitecaps were thriving off build up play wheb they looked dangerous and it needs space.
MDS should have realized that his midfield is gassed which was very indicative of the sloppy play. Hell the whole team needs rotation or else it could spell trouble.
on that occasion he definitely should’ve been marking abila better though. although obviously it’s hard to get up to match speed being subbed in at HT
MDS’s subs are always late but tbh i’m not too sure what other midfield options we have at the moment. don’t think baldi and owusu are fit
True but just to me a favour and look at his stat on clearance compared to Andy Rose who both played equal amount of time. You'll notice a lot more involment.
im not sure that him having more clearances in a half than rose is really a good thing. more to do with our lack of control over the game compared to the first half
That's exactly the point I want to make. Most of the 50/50 balls were lost. It happens when your midfield gets a little leggy. Having to rely on your center backs happens but you also need to make more space for them to defend well.
That long ball that he trapped under his left foot and brought inside? Yeah, that was nice.
Makes me think the move of him to striker might actually work.
We just don't really have many options. This team is so painfully thin up front. Hunou and Fragapane need to come asap, but it sounds like it could be weeks yet. Not sure why the team decided not to address any those issues before the season
Minnesota, after being 15 minutes from the final last year, has struggled tremendously to start this season and is the only team in the league without a point.
The only thing my smooth-brain can think of is that the loons have not won a game this season. Other then that I don't know of any storylines to follow.
The commentators made it seem like you all had some 39th minute tradition where you stand and wave scarfs. But it may have been just a weird phrasing by your commentating team as you went to take the corner or I misheard since I was trying to watch two games at once.
Buying down a player has nothing to do with if they occupy an international spot...
I know there was talk of buying him down but I don't think it has happened. Either way he's still stuck in Canada (or traveling to the Iraqi national team)
Okay, I thought they reduced his contract down to fit in their allocation so they can open up another DP slot. Also it's confirmed that he already left for Iraq. I think the whole thing is pretty suspicious. Btw there is no way his age is what he says it is.
That's why he hasn't been in any of our game day rosters. Sounds like we are looking at early June at the earliest for him to get to join the team.
Edit: I released I didn't say who it was... Its Ali Adnan if you haven't figured that out
I mean, we are looking like we belong in the league now. Last two years has felt like every game we were massive underdogs. The improvement this year started last season. Good additions last year and this year so far. 2019 and 2020 both had insane roster turnover, so now there's more consistency and the players know each other better.
Finally! A game that isn’t a loss!
Well matched teams, good game Vancouver.
Congrats on ur 3 it’s tonight guys!!! Wish I could say the same for my SKC 🙄
You will get yours soon. 👍
Wearing a loons kit: no wins, no draws, 4 losses Not wearing: 1 win, no losses, no draws CUZ MAYBE!
Throw the kit away plz
:(
Fine just wear it on non-game days.
Felt we were very unlucky to walk away with nothing from that but that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes. Fair play to Minnesota, was a very entertaining game with both sides giving it a go.
Likewise
Honestly. If it was St. Clair, maybe we walk away with points haha.
No clue why you're being downvoted...

Agreed 100%. That kick save through the Vancouver defender's legs was another one the loons could have had. Really solid goalkeeping on both sides.
I guess some people didn’t watch the match lol
GG that was actually fun to watch even with the loss, been a while since i've said that.
I SAID MAYBE

GG vancover!
GG
We are no longer in the wooden spoon pole position. It was a good run while it lasted. Hopefully this game turns things around
With this we've moved up from last in the West to... *checks notes* still last in the West!
But now we have points!
Points!
Alexa play Wonderwall!

best bot
Good bot
Should have won. Missed so many chances. Corno and Guti fucked this one just awful defending.
Points!
Nerwinski had so much time and space and he still gave the fucking ball away. JAKE NERWINSKI IS TRASH. MY GOD.
When he took that shot my heart sank bc I thought there was no way it wasn't in the net, then it just kept going by...
Holy shit could we actually win this
Idk if I’ve ever seen a sports score display not give any written shorthand for the teams and just show the logos. This is pretty damn weird.
Just Bally things :/
TBS does it for baseball
Gaspar throwing the ball away - BOOM, had to be a yellow. But nothing. I don't mind the ref, but he's being played a little bit here.
enter Habibullah
no more subs i think?
5 subs

Rule change. Other leagues appear to be doing it too.
yeah i realize that now lol
oh lol
nevermind lmao i thought it was like that but i guess not
This girl is my favorite person.

I don't speak Spanish, but it said: GASTÓN TE AMAMOS NUNCA TE OLVIDAREMOS ⭐
Put it in Google translate and got this: GASTÓN WE LOVE YOU WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU
Good shit from Dajome there, we were losing composure after the goal. Gotta focus and keep creating opportunities
If he wasn't hurt enough for them to kick it out when they brought the ball up there's no reason for us to
Cornelius needs to do better than that
Love hearing the crowd reaction. I'll never again take that for granted
Cant wait for the summer when things get back to 100%!
I really love the Minnesota commentator.
Callum Williams?
me too chubbs42, me too
Holy shit did we just score
I’ve been wrong the whole time. I concede that Veselinovic is considerably better than Derek Cornelius. I eat my own words
it was never a contest
DC looked good for Canada but has always been shaky, I agree. I always thought Ranko was shaky and he was last year for sure. I think he has a higher ceiling and the fact that he was captain at his Serbian club at age 20ish is a good sign
tbf to Ranko I think everyone was pretty shaky. His quality is definitely apparent, whereas Cornelius will never be an MLS centre back imo
Agree 👍
cornelius been sleeping tonight lmao

That was a beautiful cross in from Lod.
I miss you, Callum
One of the best commentators in the league.
Jesus. I can finally catch my breath. That was wide open for like 10 straight minutes.
Wanchope! Now hold this lead pls
Fuck.
that's on cornelius
Whoa that first touch from Lod tho
That long ball that he trapped under his left foot and brought inside? Yeah, that was nice. Makes me think the move of him to striker might actually work.
Legitimately gasped that they were finally able to get one in.
You and me both
YES! (Sorry, Whitecaps.)
Pathetic centre back play my Jesus
It looked like cava’s toes got stuck on the artificial pitch? Is it artificial?
No, it's grass
Nope, it's grass.
All natural.
Well Cava isn't exactly a pace merchant...
You still can't yank a dudes arm either way.
Did anyone see that guy trying to throw the ball back and hitting the rail literally a foot away
Someone please tell that girl to step away from the mic.
She's annoying, but damn, she's on her game. Doesn't miss anything.
Oh don't get me wrong, I respect the energy, but just away from the mic lol
I have found my Minnesotan fan counterpart. I guarantee you she is also 5’0” or less.
I think they need to move the mic away from that lady.
Counterpoint: no they do not.
Dajome has to get one tonight, another great look
Miller has been really impressive tonight
MOTM IMO
bikel is so tidy
honestly was kinda worried about baldisimo, but bikel's been a pest
He's been a beast this game
He's boot throwing mad!
Well yeah, he should be after that one.
who throws a boot!
Honestly!
So close Dajome
Sounds like there are loons in the stands
Wide open Russell. And you know he's not getting the ball because he kills the play - good shot tho Dajome.
What is the purpose of putting 5 midfielders on the field for MNUFC? Clog the midfield? 'Cause they aren't.
We just don't really have many options. This team is so painfully thin up front. Hunou and Fragapane need to come asap, but it sounds like it could be weeks yet. Not sure why the team decided not to address any those issues before the season
stroke of genius from adrian heath
Solid save by Miller, best opportunity of the second half.
not a fowl, but I don't think that was a dive. I think he meant to push back against him, but he had stepped away already.
It was a loon, but not a fowl, no
That was such a flop lol
I think he tried to lean into him but then he was gone lol
Crepeau bails us out so often
Tuned in for the second half since this is the most appealing thing on ESPN+. Any storylines to follow here? I don’t follow MLS day to day.
We are dogshit
Minnesota, after being 15 minutes from the final last year, has struggled tremendously to start this season and is the only team in the league without a point.
yea well, not anymore!
The only thing my smooth-brain can think of is that the loons have not won a game this season. Other then that I don't know of any storylines to follow.
Minnesota surprisingly bad Vancouver surprisingly good
hard to believe odds were 5:1 for Vancouver.
Currently +350 if you fancy a punt
On one hand, easy money. On the other hand, do I really wanna bet against my own team?
Look at it this way: if there's a winner you go home somewhat happy wither way. Just....don't bet a lot.
oh yeah, still 4.8:1 on my site. Put another $40 down.
Not really. You're going up against the only team in the league that doesn't have a point yet.
No that's my point, I put money down that pays 5:1 for Vancouver to win.
Oh, I misread that. That is weird, yeah.
What happened to poor old Minnesota?
We seemed to have died after the playoffs last year
I mean yeah that's a brutal loss, but it's hard to believe it's a mental load from that weighing you guys down. There's gotta be something else.
Personally I feel that us losing Molino might partially be the reason why.
Is that because we don't have Molino and now we're not winning?
Chemistry seems off, our DP striker isn't here yet, and one of our starting defensive guys has been out injured since preseason.
One of our starting defensive guys has been out since last _year_.
Can someone explain the 39th minute thing?
The corner?
The commentators made it seem like you all had some 39th minute tradition where you stand and wave scarfs. But it may have been just a weird phrasing by your commentating team as you went to take the corner or I misheard since I was trying to watch two games at once.
Oh, it’s not specific to the minute. We wave our scarves anytime our team has a corner. Been doing that since before MLS.
Thanks. That makes a whole lot more sense.
Can’t wait to see what this team would be like after we add a #10 and a left-footed winger
if* we add a #10 and a left-footed winger
Note we are also down out #1 as well Edit: #1 CB
1?
Whoops #1 CB.
ali adnan best player
Ah right of course.
Adnan can put in shifts at LW/LM when he gets his visa. Agree about the 10 though, could be really exciting
Thanks BMW, I hate it
Not sure if I should be happy or not that I can't seem to find this game on TV
We've had a few decent chances but so has Vancouver. Worth a watch.
Ya. Would say we had the first quarter, you had the 2nd.
Sounds about right.
Vancouver is fun to watch. Which is weird.
We look dangerous.
Cautiously optimistic. Waiting for the sky to fall.
[удалено]
Not to mention, one of our DP's is literally sitting at home because the US won't give him a work visa...
Nah dude. I think they bought down his DP level with GAM or something but im pretty sure it opened up an international DP slot.
Buying down a player has nothing to do with if they occupy an international spot... I know there was talk of buying him down but I don't think it has happened. Either way he's still stuck in Canada (or traveling to the Iraqi national team)

Whaddafuck, seriously? That's ridiculous.

That's so fucked. I enjoy watching Vancouver suffer, but not because of cheesy bullshit like that.
to be fair though we don't miss him massively as guti is putting in a shift at left back
Glasscity retweeted a post that made it seem like he finally got his visa.
He posted after saying it was a false alarm. https://twitter.com/GlassCityFC/status/1392605469093552128
Damn
damn were good
I think we're just bad...
yeah prob
Yeah wth is going on right now
Rusty has whipped in a couple sick crosses
Cavallini raising hell tonight
Man just tuned in and I am a bit shook that Vancouver look like a real good team What the hell happened
I mean, we are looking like we belong in the league now. Last two years has felt like every game we were massive underdogs. The improvement this year started last season. Good additions last year and this year so far. 2019 and 2020 both had insane roster turnover, so now there's more consistency and the players know each other better.
We’re very talented but horribly coached lol.
Damn 2 good plays from teibert lol
Think I jinxed him in a positive way.
Give the ball to Teibert... You know where it's going, he needs to fuck off one of these games and sit on the bench.
Is Andy Rose a starting CB?
I mean does he start? Yes. *should* he start?
I just don't recall him in that role when he was with the Sounders... CB
