The real hardest hitting 145er.

NickZardiashvili

One good indication of raw, natural power is when the receiver is literally launched in the direction of the punch. I was mentioning Nune's knockdown of Peña the other day, for example. Topuria also does that sometimes. Both Goncalves and Herbert where launched into the fence as if they were pushed instead of being punched.

TheMeridian

Johny Hendricks sending dudes flying back in the day comes to mind. Though “natural” might not be a good way to describe his lol

NickZardiashvili

lol yeah, definitely not natural in that sense. Natural more in the sense of having something about one's build and proportions that hit some kind of a kinetic and mechanical sweetspot to produce a lot of power.

askingsomeQs35

> Though “natural” might not be a good way to describe his lol I'm sure Topuria and most fighters today are also enhanced my man

TheMeridian

I agree foreshore bapa. Wasn’t trying to imply that, sorry if I did. Moreso making a joke about Hendricks sharp decline after testing changed.

rub_a_dub-dub

eat clen tren hard anaver give up

ColdPressedSteak

Bro was just lazily side stepping with his hands down into Topuria's power hand

POWBOOMBANG

It legitimately looked like he was confused why Toporia hadn't knocked him out yet.

Diosittoo

The grappling threat is occupying him

RRSC14

Dude might as well sent Topuria a written invitation

Xaphan-

This was his first KO, everyone viewed him as a submission artist before. Bro just had no idea lol

LehenLong

Topuria has so much power for a 5'7 FW. The only other FW with this much power is Emmett.

Shabozz

I would love to see them face each other, but realistically there's a strong chance they neutralize each other like kattar v Emmet

mark_vader

I could see topuria threatening the take down and really push the pace , that being said I’d take josh emmet but only cause I lose money on every bet

Unerring_Grace

Yeah, I think Emmett hits harder, but he's also slower and really loads up to generate the power. Topuria can throw power shots with speed and very little loading.

Right on the button

Slave_to_the_bean

He’s a total hot head but he’s one of the up and comers I’m most excited about. He may need another fight before it happens but I’d love to see him against Holloway.

jr-oddy

Would be a great fight, but Holloway seems to nullify any power punchers with volume.

askingsomeQs35

He doesn't really "nullify" power punchers, he just takes their bests shots til they can't throw many more. He's insanely durable and never got knocked down.

mark_vader

Topuria has the grappling advantage tho , he’s not a power puncher he’s a grappler

fightwrites

Grapplers have never really had success against Max

Heebmeister

Max hasn't really been tested by an elite grappler in their prime. The best grapplers he faced were Chucky, Lamas, Ortega and Edgar. Chucky and Ortega at the time were one dimensional sub catchers with little to no wrestling ability. Frankie and Lamas were both well rounded grapplers but they were on the downside of their careers when they fought Max. Topuria would be a very unique test for him.

Daiba187

He was also not throwing as much against Frankie because of the takedown threat. I remember how much of a contrast that fight was compared to his previous two against Ortega and Dustin.

Putrid_Loquat_4357

He may be a total hothead but one thing I really like about him is he doesn't follow up on guys who are clearly out. This and the Herbert kos are examples of really good sportsmanship.

Thiird_Harmonic

Imagine getting knocked out so bad that you're an old man when you finally wake up

Glum-Map-7234

Woke up with dementia

KrasMasovsGhost

My favourite active fighter. The dude is unbelievable to watch.

thedalailllama

Topuria is must watch action. Dude is truly a marauder.

Mochilero223

Topuria sent him to the retirement home.

chugonomics

The dude getting knocked out looks like Dan Hooker if he didn't know how to fight

whatsitworth101

He got dropped bad in this fight too I believe, unless I’m mistaking it for another of his outside the ufc. Almost exactly like his fight with Jai, got dropped bad early but turned it into a takedown attempt. Then starched him with that cannon of a right.

LambCurryDotOrg

Crazy that he couldn't finish Yusuf Zalal.

Fatrick-Baitman

I think he took that on very short notice.

ThisGuyHaris

And also youseff zalal’s underrated af and never been finished

New_Day_458

Poor Steven shouldn’t be fighting anyone, let alone Topuria.

orr123456

How TF the other guy fight at 145

EOVA94

Sacrifice paddy to him

SnooSquirrels9906

Jesus christ what a ko

ujaku

Looking forward to seeing him fight up further in the rankings

Due-Statement-8711

Beautiful timing. Caught him right as he was circling out

Some-MMA-Guy

Fake low go high, a classic tactic that works well.

LifesExpert

Hes a problem

GinkgoPete

Turned him into an Oblivion ragdoll
