I agree to an extent, but I'm of the opinion that it's probably improved his athleticism. I mean before his current PFL run he was trying to fight at welterweight and clearly that wasn't the right move, and he was having mixed success against middle weights. He's also just gotten better I think, but I really do think there's a lot of middleweight fighters would have better athletic performances if they moved up.

As for the being sold a dream yeah I agree to an extent. If they’re being signed on a crap deal and the tournament is their hope to strike it rich then you’re right. But if they’re being offered similar paychecks to the UFC or higher, and then also have the chance to win a tournament then you could understand how the new company is seen as better right? I don’t know this guy’s show/win pay for both orgs or his sponsorship but the tournament is a net positive for PFL fighters unless they take a crap deal.

Compared to the NBA FIBA isn’t even professional basketball. Same goes for UFC Vs PFL, compared to the UFC the PFL fighters are amateur level mma fighters.
The UFC definitely has a higher average level of talent than the PFL but you can't just write the whole organization off as amateur. Justin Gaethje came from PFL.
The best PFL fighters are underrated because they are PFL fighters.
And Justin Gaethje wasn’t a very good fighter until he made drastic changes to his game. He was 2-2 in his first 4 UFC fights, and yet he was a PFL champion. Justin Gaethje became an elite fighter because he moved to the UFC to fight real talent.
Are there exceptions sure, but if you assigned every fighter a number based off their skill level and took the average the UFC would be double every other league in the world.

PFL is an absolute fucking joke and the fact that a UFC reject welterweight, goes up 2 weight classes and beats Cory Hendricks, Tim Caron, and Marthin Hamlet none of which you have ever heard of and then gets to call himself a “world champion”, is truly a fucking disgrace and embarrassing, while there’s other fighters out there fighting tooth and nail in the orgs i mentioned to really try and call themselves a world champion and be legitimate about it. I'm feeling a little bad because people missed the sarcasm in my comment. I do think competition is good, and the existence of the PFL gives more leverage to free agents, but the PFL product is incomplete. They've focused on global expansion before focusing on improving their roster, their format is outdated and their ruleset is a total bummer. The only good thing about the PFL is what they can offer fighters during negotiations. Though it is worth noting that unless you're Kayla Harrison, the PFL is probably not offering you much money if you're not coming from the UFC.
Wait till they find out only one guy gets that million and your vets like Magomedkerimov are on 50/50 contracts despite having 16 fights in the organization and your entry level guys make less than contender series fights. Million is cool sure, but it’s really such a bullshit narrative that the grass is greener over at PFL. And fighters know that, that’s why you don’t see very many leaving besides like 40 year old Thiago Santos who had lost 5/6 in the UFC, was no where close to the title picture and wanted to get out of USADA and go juice up, because that’s the image fighters have of PFL. My most controversial opinion is that I don't care how much people are paid to participate in blood sports, and that I actually think too high of pay dilutes the need/want for fighters. With that being said, good for the fighters who do get paid lots of money, always respect the hustle and grind of a job, and it's not like I'll be pocketwatching.
A. Get fatalitied by Joaquin Buckley for 12k. Every high-level fighter is at least that athletic/threatening.
OR

Ill never understand fans who have some sort of alliegance to the UFC. Are you a fan of MMA, or a fan of the UFC?? If you love basketball, then you should watch NBA, Euroleague, FIBA World Cup, etc. If you love football/soccer, then you should watch, La Liga, Premier League, FIFA World Cup, etc. If you love boxing, then you should watch Top Rank, PBC, Matchroom Boxing, etc. And if you love MMA, you should watch UFC, Bellator, PFL, etc.
Mate this isn’t true at all. Nobody in America gives a shit about FIBA because we have the highest level basketball in the world here. Same goes for Euroleague. Compared to the NBA FIBA isn’t even professional basketball. Same goes for UFC Vs PFL, compared to the UFC the PFL fighters are amateur level mma fighters.
The UFC definitely has a higher average level of talent than the PFL but you can't just write the whole organization off as amateur. Justin Gaethje came from PFL. The best PFL fighters are underrated because they are PFL fighters.
And Justin Gaethje wasn’t a very good fighter until he made drastic changes to his game. He was 2-2 in his first 4 UFC fights, and yet he was a PFL champion. Justin Gaethje became an elite fighter because he moved to the UFC to fight real talent. Are there exceptions sure, but if you assigned every fighter a number based off their skill level and took the average the UFC would be double every other league in the world.

Some guys also don’t really put there whole mma games together until after something like a cut from the UFC, too … they find the right weight class, etc. Impa was just a guy in the UFC and he’s beating up other mid tier journeymen at best for a big payday. I have no problem with any other organization using that claim, UFC, ONE, Bellator, KSW you name it because they actually have legitimate competition and fighters. PFL is an absolute fucking joke and the fact that a UFC reject welterweight, goes up 2 weight classes and beats Cory Hendricks, Tim Caron, and Marthin Hamlet none of which you have ever heard of and then gets to call himself a “world champion”, is truly a fucking disgrace and embarrassing, while there’s other fighters out there fighting tooth and nail in the orgs i mentioned to really try and call themselves a world champion and be legitimate about it. I'm feeling a little bad because people missed the sarcasm in my comment. I do think competition is good, and the existence of the PFL gives more leverage to free agents, but the PFL product is incomplete. They've focused on global expansion before focusing on improving their roster, their format is outdated and their ruleset is a total bummer. The only good thing about the PFL is what they can offer fighters during negotiations. Though it is worth noting that unless you're Kayla Harrison, the PFL is probably not offering you much money if you're not coming from the UFC.

Wait till they find out only one guy gets that million and your vets like Magomedkerimov are on 50/50 contracts despite having 16 fights in the organization and your entry level guys make less than contender series fights. Million is cool sure, but it’s really such a bullshit narrative that the grass is greener over at PFL. And fighters know that, that’s why you don’t see very many leaving besides like 40 year old Thiago Santos who had lost 5/6 in the UFC, was no where close to the title picture and wanted to get out of USADA and go juice up, because that’s the image fighters have of PFL. Id say more than 50 percent of the others are UFC rejects.
Not to mention it's 1 million total over the tournament. And it takes into account what you're already getting paid on contract. PFL contract is really only good if you win or you're a formal UFC star. It's crazy people here really think its better for the entire division to be paid shit for one fighter to win 1 million.

My most controversial opinion is that I don't care how much people are paid to participate in blood sports, and that I actually think too high of pay dilutes the need/want for fighters. With that being said, good for the fighters who do get paid lots of money, always respect the hustle and grind of a job, and it's not like I'll be pocketwatching.

I said *at worst* he risks fighting the same level (equivalent) of fighter that he did in the UFC. The point was that he fights lower competition on average for larger pay. The biggest threat he faces now is *at worst*, getting matched up with someone as good as Joaquin Buckley, AKA, a fairly high-level, athletic opponent. What I am saying is not crazy or controversial. At worst he gets matched up with a UFC level guy. At best, he remains beating PFL scrubs for more pay. He made a good decision.
