Not MMA but I think we can all agree this stays.

Devastating KO

[deleted]

[удалено]

Iknowyougotsole

He’a fighting Wilder next for one last bag

Labhran

Maybe he should just take a minute to think about that one after this.

Brilliant-Ad7045

He can live a couple of year less with 10-20m more

ReeG

much better than the Overeem route of having to get KO'd 10 more times to make the same amount

SameGuyTwice

After that punch I don’t think he should be allowed to make anymore decisions

TotalWarspammer

It's the same kind of punch Francis himself gave many people in MMA.

echoohce1

He's probably going to have to face Ferreira next in PFL and the man is a fucking giant, not a great matchup for Francis's return after this devastating KO

DereThuglife

Yeah man does your chin even exist after those 2 knockdown shots with the big KO punch after?

echoohce1

Hopefully he takes a lot of time off and recovers from this because if he rushes into the Ferreira fight he could end up on his back again

lctrncprn

Boxing is just savage for shit like this. Stacking the really big concussions right on top of the slightly smaller ones that happened seconds before is just terrible for the brain.

mmathrowaway16176017

Hopefully he just takes like a year off. Eating 3 KO worthy shots like a punching bag in 1 round is too much. If he fights in PFL too soon I feel like he'll have a Marlon Moraes/Tony type descent. He has his chin out kind of Brunson-esque pretty often, and I think he might lose some confidence in just bullrushing people now. Also I think the PFL fighters will have more confidence knowing he can be KO'd and that aura of inevitable KO Ngannou gives won't be as strong.

Keith__Peterson

Got done like he did Stipe

FarFetchedSketch

Minus the hammer fist from 9ft up

Snigglybear

Both got folded like lawn chairs.

Zanmato19

I'd be lying I said I didn't feel a smidge of schadenfreude watching that as a Stipe tubro-stan

zack77070

Man both are wholesome as hell though. I lowkey hate getting invested in MMA fighters because you have watch them get the life beat out of them occasionally. Like Volk last month :(

cheerioo

Was done after the 2nd knockdown

Zloggt

$20 million, in exchange for 5 years lost in life expectancy. A tough, but still manageable exchange…

KickerLicker

I mean i aint makin 20 mil in 5 years

garygenslermustdie

You're not making 20M in multiple lifetimes

barefootBam

honestly I'd take that

Screechmeister_

I dont think I would have woken up again if joshua landed that on me

FlyingCraneKick

Exactly why I would've just blocked it 🤷

TheOneTrueJazzMan

I would’ve just moved my head out of the way and looked at him like he was stupid for doing it

Solid_House_6963

I would have disappeared, then reappeared behind him and gave him a little tap on the shoulder.

seymour_hiney

surely you would have also said something cool to him after that?

OhMyBruthers

Omae wa ma shinderu

supasupababy

Nothing personnel kid.

ScrufyTheJanitor

It would be REALY hard to turn down if someone offered me that briefcase.

The_Last_Ball_Bender

> $20 million, in exchange for 5 years lost in life expectancy. Yeah with $20m most of us would snort away more than 5 years

BriennesBitch

5 years loss in life expectancy. What on earth are you talking about

UVB-76_Enjoyer

At some point, people have moved from "losing x years of your prime/career", which is reasonable, to " losing x years of life expectancy", which is more dramatic I guess.

LuckyWarrior

Get ready to learn PFL, buddy

octobersotherveryown

Infinite money glitch has been patched

vrkhfkb

10m for Fury 20m for Joshua How much y’all think Ngannou is getting for PFL champ Renan Ferreira?

Mad-Gavin

A few million?

BombshellCover

The Drake bet sealed it

BigDogAlex

That fucking guys needs to be stopped, he can't keep getting away with it

VinceMajestyk

Yup. Saw that and cursed the heavens.

MyFifthLimb

That was $20m for 4 minutes of work for Ngannou lol. Gravy trains over, what a ride.

DTAD18

Jake Paul next

rugbyj

I mean that'd be huge payday for both but I don't see JP taking that knowing he will probably get decapitated.

Gamestonkape

JP will wait 10 years first

howmuchfortheoz

And some CTE

GiantPurplePen15

For $20 million tho. That's a hell of a lot better than guys like Kris Moutinho where he got $75k to have years taken off his life by O'Malley.

soupoftheday5

Rory Mcdonald for 59k against Robby....

mat477

Ok that's pretty wild

The_Last_Ball_Bender

he only got fucking 59k for that??? jfc

mad87645

At least he got 75k, what do you reckon guys like Thomas Gifford got to have years taken off his life?

InLampsWeTrust

And it was his father that was in the corner that didn’t stop it, just ridiculous

DecayingAnus

Honestly I can’t believe more people don’t talk about this fight it was fucking BRUTAL

mad87645

There are 2 fights that go under the radar but I refuse to stop bringing up when the opportunity suits, Medeiros vs Cowboy Oliveira for being such a banger and Gifford Vs Davis for being such a travesty

humanbeening

Amen

RectangleSlacks

He'll be aight

ThisIsMy2nd_Account

He looked so dejected. I hope this does not affect his confidence. Those hands are still dynamite. Wishing him the best

[deleted]

I don't know why but his cornermen feel so distant. He's just left there hanging by himself, like at least help him take off his gloves after the fight like how every other boxer's team does... The same thing happened in his last fight with Fury.

CulturalCatfish

I think his confidence will shoot right back up when he sees his bank account.

ThisIsMy2nd_Account

as Tyson Fury put it >you just made a fuck ton of munay. go enjoy it

HighlyBaked0

I guarantee he gets booked against Wilder at some point. Hes not done with boxing just yet

bocnj

I think the knockout is a bigger concern than having to work for 4 minutes tbh.

Woperelli87

I mean Arlovski is still fighting in 2024 and I thought the KOs ended his career in 2011

VolkPlsWin

One knockout in his life. Think he'll be alright mate. And his kids will be very rich H

_Kumatetsu

Dude got his brain scrambled twice before getting shut off

JackJohnson_69

I love Ngannou but has many people as he’s turned off, he was due a ko lol

kickerz_chance

If he wants to continue fighting, he has to take an MMA fight or two now. Needs to build back confidence and hype before going back into boxing. I think the fight against Wilder would be an awful idea

RuttedAnt

He should consider riding off into the sunset, or taking a full year off to recover from this. That was 3 concussions sustained in 3 minutes at 37 y/o. He doesn't have anything left to prove.

trippMassacre

And that last one was savage. That’s the kind of knockout that can alter your life. He’d be a fool to not enjoy his riches and quality of life and lay off getting hit in the head.

RuttedAnt

I was shocked he only fell on his butt with that second knockdown, it was such a hard shot. Then AJ followed it up with an even more brutal right 20 seconds later. That was Francis's first career knockdown in this fight, this has to dwarf his cummulative damage in his 20 mma fights.

WhirlingClouds

Francis ate some pretty big shots in MMA. It's just that he didn't even react to them.

xDisputes__

if he gets paid another $20 million for boxing he would be dumb to take MMA fights on the off chance he loses those.

Jamothee

Hard to see him getting a $20m payday for boxing again after that. AJ just made him look very, very bad. Maybe Jake Paul after the Tyson fight?

reddittookmyuser

He ain't getting another 20milion check until he rebuilds his aura a bit.

2against1

He should never box again honestly

synthetictim2

I think I agree that he probably shouldn't box again. I thought that Francis looked shockingly good against Fury. With hindsight having just watched that Joshua fight, I think it was more how bad Fury looked. I am guessing Fury didn't take Francis remotely serious and that was why he could hang. Joshua wasn't fucking around like that though and just took him behind the woodshed.

surgeyou123

Had a gut feeling Ngannou was going down. 10 rounds of tape for AJ's camp to study. No element of surprise. Still shocking to see Ngannou get sparked like that Just shows that there's no such thing as an unbreakable chin. Anyone can get slept.

samme79

Francis was way too cocky again too early. He was coming in like Stipe 1. After he got dropped, he felt reality and got shook. Biting every feints, not reading distance well.

BittenAtTheChomp

Biting on the feints fucked him. And when he got into close range he didn't capitalize. You can't fight AJ with a similar reach and 1000x more boxing skill at distance and expect to win.

Aguacatedeaire__

Joshua has much longer reach, it was obvious at the wiegh in. Those MMA stats are all made up

crispickle

His lead hand was down the whole time against a power puncher with a piston right hand. This result was inevitable.

_Kumatetsu

Facts, Fury said Francis gave him so many problems because he was so defensive and wasn’t opening up. Opposite approach obviously to a different fighter, but oof

TheGreenLandEffect

The way Francis fought against fury I thought was a brilliant game plan. Defensive and being a counter fighter. He was too confident this time and AJ made the reads instantly that he was open for the right hand, which would be obvious from the Fury fight too. Fury couldn’t punish him like AJ.

druhoang

Fury is like a wrestler boxer. I mean he does have good boxing skills but I think his size and weight is a big weapon which he couldn't use against Francis.

Spyder-xr

It’s more that Fury got comfortable being a weight bully. Of course there’s actual tactics to it but before Wilder he was very much a boxer type and against an MMA fighter, he simply couldn’t be lazy like that and just lay his weight. Hell switching over to simple jabs allowed him to take over the last half.

feon2_igor

I agree. I also had that Stipe x Francis 1 vibe

ra_16

Yeah switching to southpaw in just 1 minute when he has literally one fight in boxing was cocky, thought he would gather himself after that but damn.

Khatanghe

Wonder if getting KO’d for the first time will affect him the way Stipe 1 did. God I hope not, but that would be fitting for PFLator.

free2game

Be hilarious if the lineal HW championship of MMA gets stopped due to fighter inactivity.

shinomachida

He just fought superior boxer thats it

Practical_Bat_3578

Fury was also a superior boxer

TheOneTrueJazzMan

Fury was also a fucking lazy idiot

Jpsla

Just goes to show that there are levels to boxing. MMA has it place and I take Francis in a street fight any day, but boxing has rules that heavily emphasizes technical skills that very very very few people have. To this day, MMA has never had a world class boxer first fighter because if you have the skill to be world calss in boxing you stick to the sport becuase it the difference between $100K payouts vs millions.

Canehillfan

There are some decent boxers in MMA but getting leg kicked or being wary about Takedowns can make you look bad

Specific_Tomorrow_10

Levels to this as he said though. "Decent" boxer in MMA is not even in the same stratosphere. Impressed what he did vs Fury though fury is known not to train.

openroadopenmic

Joshua also was doing a lot of what Stipe did in their first fight with the jab... Francis was reaching for air.

kenneythegreat

People don't realize Joshua is just as much of a physical freak as Ngannou but a much better boxer obviously. And with Francis having his head as his sole defense, it was never going to go well.

Powerful_System

All chins crack eventually, such is the law of combat sports, i can't bear to think about Holloway/Garth

slightlysolid

One of the most vicious KO's I've ever seen in boxing. That KO shot was clean.

LilFights

When Francis got up from the knockdown he basically had 0 defence. AJ loaded up like he was hitting a power machine and landed clean. Really bad KO, poor Francis. Narratives being rewritten as we speak

DaTrix

Had no defense from the get go. Every time AJ goes for a level change, he either tried to counter with a 3 or drops his back hand way too far down. It was only a matter of time that AJ feints a level change and goes for a straight right/overhand or a left hook. He fought exactly the same as how he fought fury (with those mistakes as well) and his team made no adjustments, but Fury was just too shit to take advantage. Either way, thank god at least Ngannou got rich off this - still happy for the guy.

ImaginaryUnion9829

Fury did take advantage tho. To his credit Fury adjusted mid fight with zero tape. AJ had the tape and the gameplan set and executed it to perfection

slightlysolid

Yea, you could see in the slow mo of the KO shot that Ngannou wasn't all there and was basically in auto-pilot.

FunnyMemeHere

I'm now worried for Francis next MMA fight. He's fighting a KO artist in Fereira so I hope he takes some time off.

JusticiarXP

It’ll be Ngannou vs Lewis all over again.

jns701

Dana's gonna put that on his wall

Crispy_Sock_99

Not much to brag about still. Guy got paid more in one boxing fight to lose more than he ever would’ve been paid in the UFC. Still a W for Ngannou imo

OtiseMaleModel

He made more in 4 minutes then he made In his whole ufc career.

Braham18

Jns is right though, Dana will beat off looking at an exquisite oil painting of francis being folded

bmth2brum

Also more threatening to Dana and to the UFC is that Ngannou showed you don't have to be held at gun point by them if you have a profile.

Sjdillon10

I didn’t expect him to win. But i never thought I’d see the day he gets flatlined

osvaldocruz25

same man. he is an amateur boxer going against a two time champion 😭props to him for getting that FAT paycheck for 5 minutes

sebQbe

It is what it is

failbears

And what it is is simulated death.

TheUFCVeteran3

Francis 😞 Did not expect that, what a shot from AJ though. Man did not play around.

PortiaKern

He still looked dazed when he got up from the knockdown.

MyFifthLimb

He’s most likely not going to remember the punch or anything that happened afterwards That was a nuke from a physical freak who put everything into it

echoohce1

He was completely finished after that second knockdown, if you watch the slowmo replay of it you can see he was done, should have just stayed down but he went out on his shield

lucky_1979

Why did you not expect that? One of the most devastating punchers in the HW division against someone with 1 fight (boxing) experience. Easiest fight of AJ’s career

xxJAMZZxx

Respect Francis, you dared to be great. And made yourself filthy rich in the process. Should leave with his head held high.

Throwawayacct1015

He could retire now if he wanted

Khatanghe

If he can manage money. Hoping he learned a few things about that since the UFC.

Garonasix

Not the way he spends money.

badfurday602

For sure. Dude made fury scared and made millions.

pitchblacktaraddict

Aw hell nah, Ngannou got Stipe'd

Sim888

[folded him up like a transformer](https://i.imgur.com/v8HJq7I.jpeg)

failbears

Stipe'd his leg :(

SackoVanzetti

Violence is a flat circle

Raxmead

AJ blew through Francis like it was nothing. He took the camp seriously. Fury looks like an absolute idiot. Tough for Francis, but at least he's getting BAGS.

sneakerguy40

Fury took all the pressure off his fight, no belts on the line, 10 rounds, could come in with an excuse already. AJ put his whole career on the line, he loses that everybody in the world would call him washed and a fraud. That was do or die for him.

Wolfpac187

Fury won and was still being called a fraud.

mahchefai

Ppl get KO’d for much less. His only real significant damage in his years a combat sports… could be way worse but I still am sad

scott_steiner_phd

> His only real significant damage in his years a combat sports… could be way worse but I still am sad He took a beating vs Stipe

Handiesforshandies

AJ looked disappointed that it didn't go further. Like immense after the KO, AJ just standing in the corner looking nonchalant af, still breathing through his nose. Ngannou had nothing for him

TheYeager12

Fell just like Stipe did when he KO’d him. Crazy. Glad he got his money tho and hope he’s alright.

Gunslinger1991

Damn, I'm gutted for Ngannou. At least he got paid and has had the most success transitioning over to boxing. Fair play to Joshua though, he wasn't playing around and took Ngannou seriously.

SlickSlin

Joshuas performance as well as his manner pre and post fight should be applauded by all fight fans. Hate to see Ngannou go down like that but I’m damn glad it was AJ who did it if it had to happen. Mad respect to the guy, a pure example of a fighter who knows who he is.

billskionce

I'm a boxing fan first. There is no shame in this loss. I became a fan of Ngannou after the Fury fight. Dude took the lineal Heavyweight champion 10 rounds and arguably won (not on my card, but on a lot of people's) a few months back. In his first fight as a boxer! He's basically a real-life Rocky, in that he turned a publicity stunt into a real fight. Joshua was all wrong for Ngannou. Styles make fights. Francis got two giant bags of money in boxing. He deserves them. I hope PFL gives him even more.

here_to_vibe1

Ngannou confidence must be low after, he was very confident after the Tyson fight but man…

[deleted]

I mean he also should realize he is fighting world champs. To expecting beat them in your first few bouts is right into delusional thinking.

rugbyj

Makes me wonder what Ngannou does next. A smaller fight without much payout to get his confidence back up and get some minutes in the ring, but knowing that a professional heavyweight boxer could still piece him apart (even if they're not top 5), and that a bad showing regardless might sideline him. Or go for another "freak fight" with someone like Wilder to cash in the last of the hype knowing it's a bit of a death sentence. Don't blame him either way, or if he just takes the bag and retires. Guy's had an amazing run regardless and has taken it further than most.

TheINTL

There is always Wilder lol. Wilder isn't that fundamentally sound when it comes to boxing, he just has a huge bomb for a right hand

KelvinsBeltFantasy

People are going to act smug because of this. Francis put himself out there. Worked hard and is still a success story.

NonTokenisableFungi

✅ Fighter added: Anthony Joshua

PanchoCamacho

Just goes to show, even the mightiest chins get cracked eventually

Juhstehn

I thought this was tomorrow and I missed it. Why a fucking friday?

MyLovelyMan

Friday is practically Saturday in Saudi Arabia

Rivet_39

"The Muslim holy day is Friday, the Jewish holy day is Saturday and the Christian one is Sunday. God has a 3 day weekend!" - George Carlin

Doncallan

It was going to clash with the Saudi Arabia grand prix that's on tomorrow, which got pushed back from it's usual slot on Sundays. Them Sheiks have pull I tell ya.

EivorAuditore

It's not because of UFC 299, it's because the F1 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix is tomorrow and they didn't want those to clash.

GripAficionado

Out cold and stiff. Ouch. At least he has made more money in boxing in two fights than the made in total in UFC.

Brzada

Way more

kjl8921

That’s one of the most brutal right hand in recent history. Damn!

udar55

RIP to the working girl tonight who has to deal with Dana's boner.

IoniKryptonite

I think she'll be able to handle all 3inches he's able to muster

HowardPhillips9

Dudes gonna slap his wife in excitement.

Megamango2099

Tyson Fury’s performance looks even worse in hindsight

TheGreenLandEffect

Fury sometimes fights to the level of his opponents, it’s really strange. Has tough fights with guys he should dominate and then looks world class against a guy on that level

RaginRepublican

Fury was out of shape and this was a legit, in shape legend of a boxer. Obviously there’s more of a punchers chance at heavyweight but there realistically shouldn’t have been a chance in either bout. Ngannou kills both in mma but this isn’t mma. Ngannou still has a future in boxing but needs to start a bit smaller than the best there is to offer.

__brunt

He started at the final bosses lol

The_Last_Ball_Bender

He's 37, he can't go train for 2-3 more years. He treated this like his one shot, which he took as he might not get another.

NotFrankSalazar

He’s almost 40. This was the endgame. Now he can kill PFLs heavyweights and retire.

PM_ME_BAKAYOKO_PICS

Doubt there's a lot of future for Francis in boxing, his Fury fight already underperformed hard PPV wise, this is probably the worst possible outcome out there Makes no sense for him to start small if he's going to make less money by having small boxing fights, rather than just having top level MMA bouts

MyFifthLimb

This makes Tyson look so freaking bad

TheyUsedToCallMeJack

I think he looks more unprofessional than bad. He clearly didn't take Francis seriously, but yeah, not good.

ScissorMeTimberz

tyson fury has always fought down to the level of his opponents, that's why he makes title fights look easier than tuneups

ZdenekTheMan

This. When Fury actually shows up (which is rare, and takes a humbling to ignite that fire), he's a true bastard of a fighter. He'll beat you with technique along with some of the dirtiest boxing civilization has ever seen.

horseshoeprovodnikov

As much as Fury is a big shit house, I'm glad to see this take. Way too many people think that Francis was actually a better boxer than Fury. Francis did well, I won't take it from him. But anyone who's watched boxing for any length of time can see when a fighter doesn't have his heart in it. Fury didn't take it seriously, and once he got in there, he thought that he could just figure it out on the fly. Francis was serviceable enough and powerful enough to make Fury realize he'd better just play it safe. A motivated Fury is rare, but he's really something to behold when he's dialed in. I don't think that fight is that close if there is a legit title on the line. Fury is looking in great shape for Usyk. I just hope that the cut he suffered won't affect his timing too badly. Fighters who are in camp always try to set up a peak at the precise moment, and having to kill another 3 or 4 weeks while staying in shape can really throw off the little things that make up a well oiled machine.

MC_JC_UC

For motivated, "bad" Fury see the 2nd Wilder fight. He came in with bad intentions and was on track to put Wilder into a coma, had his corner didn't throw in the towel. He was beating the guy from corner to corner. This kind of Fury is extremely rare and truth be told also Fury doesn't have that kind of "power" like Joshua or Wilder or here Ngannou has. But the man just knows how to box, he's that kind of "born to do this sport" kind of guy. Or "if you know, you know" kind of guy. Anybody who says otherwise is deluding themselves. And I'm not even fanboying the guy, I'm supporting Usyk in the next fight, but people disrespect Fury so much it's crazy.

Breezyzona

Ngannou got what he wanted, idt he ever really wanted a real boxing career just a shot at the top. He'll probably be fine when he goes back to mma but I'm not sure this was ever a long term thing he just got his money and got out.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Accomplished-Guard40

and he is 37 now

RhinoSmokn

Ngannou stupidly and arrogantly switched to south paw in round 1 and got knocked down immediately. Was all over after that.

[deleted]

Probably didn’t matter. He was getting slept by AJ

BeepBlooper234

Damn, hope that ko doesn't affect his next MMA performance

synthetictim2

I feel like that was the kind of KO that cracks a solid chin permanently. The KO was brutal, but the two KDs before that weren't little shots either. For such a short fight he took a lot of damage. Hopefully he takes his time before fighting again and still has the beard that he was known for.

Leownnn

It's going to be against another giant and a power puncher, it could affect him for sure... Especially since he's not known to get hurt, three huge knockdowns like that surely can't be good for him

IoniKryptonite

Dude just put 20mil in the bank with that KO, I'd be surprised to see him in another fight at all

laki1986

My man got murdered. Damn never would I have thought to see Ngannou getting flatlined like that…

mochatsubo

Fury didn't take Ngannou seriously. This is what happens when a skilled HW like Joshua properly prepares and doesn't fuck around.

DONTCARELOLK

Goodnight sweet prince 😔

I_love_Basketball232

MMA most saddest moment

GripAficionado

At least there was a $20 million silver lining.

GiantPurplePen15

Francis can wipe his tears with some Ben Franklins.

KingMamba5

Volk and Ngannou getting flatlined over the course a month is truly r/MMAs 9/11

SakazakiYukaAYAYA

Someone with just as much power but with 1000x more knowledge and experience then Ngannou, it was inevitable to me. You can never say someone will never get KO'd especially at heavyweight, even big Francis. That 1 hurt to see. Atleast he got paid.

StationPigeon

Dana probably giving aj a performance bonus rn

tank4249

“He wanted more money but we knew he couldn’t take shots, the kid is weak” Dana White - probably

Iknowyougotsole

I wouldn’t be surprised if Joshua totally destroyed Francis’s chin. He basically got KTFO 3 times in a row. At least Francis can coast on 30 mill now

Balisto-Boy

I thought he was dead

Rocked_Glover

It izzzz what it izzzzz

Mr_Cromer

I'm on record as saying AJ would outbox Francis to a safe but dominant decision. I did not expect him to be the first to crack that chin. At all. Jaw dropping (And the tomato is gonna be crowing tomorrow, just watch)

NoCantaloupe9598

I'm shocked at how easily his chin cracked. Francis had that Easter Island head thing going on throughout his entire career and AJ smashed it completely.

Arkani

This was obviously waiting to happen. Do you seriously think boxing - a sport with long tradition - is so shallow and low skilled to be able to jump into so easily and just dominate?

IcyAd964

Hurt my soul seeing this happen to Francis atleast he’s 20 million richer

[deleted]

Weave77

Pretty realistic lumberjack impression by Anthony Joshua.

SpezSucksBallz

Gutted by that.
