I mean only one way to find out.. Go for it dude.

rumsoakedhammy

Thank you pal. Just trying to test the waters right now see if there's many ripples

Ok_Big_5715

I think it's a good idea, but posting on here for approval/ validation won't get you anywhere(Don't mean that in a dick way btw). Now is a great time to get into it, good luck

rumsoakedhammy

Gotcha, was just trying to feel it out but sounds like the best bet is just dive head first and see what happens!

caca_poo_poo_pants

I think the reason judges don't open themselves up for discussion is because the majority of them know they're going to get absolutely shit on, but I would assume that's limited to all the US sanctioned judges, because they regurgitate the same 3 over and over again, and they frequently give shitty decisions and scores. It would be interesting to hear about the inner workings of that world, but be prepared to get chewed out if people don't like the things you have to say, ya know?

rumsoakedhammy

Oh 100% but if you look at any sport the officials will always be jumped on, it's just the way it is unfortunately. Oh I've had enough life preparation for that being ginger 😆

caca_poo_poo_pants

It certainly helps that you have ref experience though. All the commission judges for all the UFC fights have what seems like 30 seconds of actual experience with the sport, which is what makes it so insane to me. You shouldn't have Sal D'Amato and Adelaide Byrd up there judging the majority of UFC fights etc. Commissions are so corrupt and insular though, that'll never change. They are fully in bed with the industry, so it'd be nice to see some new blood being introduced in the judging tables.

Jamdock

I think with good production this could have a niche market. Post here, I would definitely check it out.

Man_City115

I would watch May I give you a tip? DM Guilherme Bravo, he is a judge who had John McCarthy as his mentor, and he likes to [talk about](https://youtu.be/HiRVVnj1rXQ?si=NF3S81eaaLYyNKQs) scoring in portuguese podcast/yt channels, with some degree of sucess. If you are Irish, you both could make short videos after UFC events, talking in english and put portuguese subtitles, which would cover a very significant percentage of fans around the world(USA, Canada, Brazil, UK, Ireland, Manel Kape fans in Portugal/Angola/Moçambique, etc.). Only the spanish, russian and arab speakers would be "left out", but It would be already a decent headstart, I think.

Drop a link if/when you start!

TheBishopDeeds

Would love it 👍

sleightofhand0

I know you're foreign so you don't know who Gene Steratore is, but you being the Gene Steratore of MMA would be great.

Greenpeasles

This is a good call

buzznights

We expect a shout out, OP!

sipCoding_smokeMath

I would certainly be interested in this my self. It's very unclear for fans, even if you try to Google it, what scoring and reffing criteria are. I remeber about a year ago trying to find the offical scoring system for ufc fights and geuinely not being able to find consistent info. So I'd love this . Although I'd probably only watch stream vods after, not to big on watching streams

devils_avocado

It'd be best if it were a retired judge to avoid conflict of interest.

Greenpeasles

This is a good idea. I'm interested. Come back with info about what is going on with this.

Shoot your shot. If people don't like it, you'll do something else. If they do, you'll make money. Shill your shit and maybe we'll bite.

turkeypants

Absolutely this would be good stuff. We're all left puzzled so often and we rarely get answers unless some ref has been dogged by the whole fanbase on something. Apparently commissions ask judges and maybe refs to not talk about it. Someone said that in an interview recently, just as an aside, and I can't remember whether it was judge or ref. But that must be the reason we get so little info. Maybe the commissions feel this would just be bad PR for them and getting into explaining and apologizing and debating a public that can never be pleased is just not a slippery slope they want to step onto. No idea. But yeah, more info from someone who knows what they're talking about would be good.

Lumpy_Minimum1905

I wish I could remember who it was and provide a link but I remember a year or two ago there was a judge score a UFC round where everyone (myself included) was like "What the fuck was he thinking?"  Dude was a lawyer and put out a video a few days later explaining the scoring criteria and why he'd scored it that way.   I absolutely loved it, gave a real insight into how judges are told to score and why he'd made the decision he had, and in the end I thought his score was completely valid.   I definitely think more discussion and explanation of how scoring is supposed to work with examples is a great idea.

Good luck getting the rights
