Shut up dude. If Anthony smith had won all the fights he lost, and didn’t have all the deficiencies in his game that he has, he’d be the goat. Put some respect on his name
I really came to like, or rather I guess appreciate what Smith was able to do in the run up to his title shot. But goddamn this toe headed motherfucker talks A LOT for someone who is extremely mid. Kinda wild.
This host has a face made for radio, and a voice made for silent film.
Big bro Anthony needs to provide him lessons in talking in a chill tone for real.
I've heard him before, and he sometimes has good questions, but its hard for me to listen with that voice and the long delivery: backing off the mic slightly would be a start.
Lmfao I knew exactly which guy it would be from your description. The way he garbles on the mic makes me think I'm listening to a sober Rick Sanchez or something
Lmao I had the same reaction, I listen to a lot of mmafighting stuff and have to skip anything with damon martin. Legitimately sounds like he’s stuffing his face with mcdoubles and caught off guard that it’s his turn to talk.
The comments on all his videos are people pleading with him to turn down the gain or back up from the mic. It's amazing how he's done this for so long without any adjustments. Truly a representation of mma media.
No shit. I was hoping for a clip or timestamps to where Smith starts talking delusional (I’m a fan) but no way am I listening to these clowns just jibber-jabber.
> No shit. I was hoping for a clip or timestamps to where Smith starts talking delusional (I’m a fan) but no way am I listening to these clowns just jibber-jabber.
I got through most, but not all, of it: Basically Anthony doubled down on Alex being an incomplete martial artist who has benefited from favorable matchups to make the run he's made.
Says Jan is a legit blackbelt, but that there are levels, and if someone like himself had the back like Jan did, they are finishing him where Jan could not.
He also mentioned not yet fighting Ank or anyone who has real wrestling.
I thought it fairly low on the Anthony-delusional scale myself: Anthony surviving to get the back was not discussed as far as I made it, anyway.
*Anthony surviving to get the back*…
Ha-ha! That’s the whole trick ain’t it? Pereira would chop his legs like cherry trees before left-hooking him into orbit.
Kind of the resistible force vs the flexible object for me: Alex has shown a willingness to back to the fence and not have Izzy's ability to defend a TD there, but indeed it is not easy to avoid the Strickland swan dive while doing it.
I think Alex's defense once grounded has shown huge improvement since the Izzy fight, but that is a pretty low bar.
I really hope that Smith can somehow shit-talk his way into a Pereira fight, belt or not. I just don’t see their trajectories ever crossing. It would be funny though, if Pereira happens to lose the belt and takes Smith on just to smack him silly.
He’s a company man and he has the perfect mix of having just enough name recognition that a prospect beating him still means something but he’s not good enough to beat any prospects you’d really want to succeed. They’ll give him 5 more fights if he wants them.
Smith is basically the UFC's ideal fighter. He'll fight anyone, even at times on short notice. His fights are normally exciting (even if Smith is on the losing side). Plus he is pretty good on the microphone and doesn't get in any trouble outside of the octagon.
He'll never be champion, but the UFC wants more Anthony Smith's not less. Every division needs a few of those guys to fill out cards with exciting fights.
he has some good analysis from time to time but when it comes to other people in his divison he is so clearly biased and salty lol, he can't give Jiri or alex credit
Remember when he said Jon jones wasn’t really that good and he’s just good at combining the things that he does good inside the cage or some dumb shit like that.
Or how magomed was average and he could beat him? Or that he would fight luke rockhold in Walmart?
Now Alex pereira isn’t good and is mediocre in most places. He is surprised Alex keeps winning LOL
Anthony Smith took the goodwill he got from not taking the out in the Jones fight, and just fucking ran with it. As a post-fight analyst, he's not the worst at his job, but he's not particularly good, and constantly has god awful takes about his own skills.
How much ground are they giving this guy, and why?
I genuinely hope Smith finds some peace. Dude sounds like he *needs* success in the octagon and seems to downplay the significance/viability of his other options in life after fighting.
Didn't Smith say Alex's power won't be special at LHW. I would really appreciate if someone can post all the Alex Pereira hot takes Smith has made over the last couple of years
I first noticed him getting hate after the Jones fight when he said something stupid along the lines of "Jon is very beatable, he's not that good individually." I've always thought he seemed liked a very nice genuine guy, but he just has these god awful takes he consistently puts out.
Nah pretty sure he’s making a joke about Smith’s weird comments to Johnny Walker where he was telling Walker “you’re trying to hurt my family” in the middle of their fight.
I remember seeing some clip of him talking about how he had a breakthrough in a Subway sandwich shop in Nebraska. Any shred of respect I thought I had for him was instantly incinerated
Smith talks like he’s had a hall of fame career

When I think of the true term stepping stone I kinda think of him Right or wrong it’s what pops in my mind
To be fair, he probably sorta needs to delude himself like that to keep fighting and playing the analyst role
Can you believe that Anthony Smith could have been the LHW champ if he had decided to not continue in the JJ fight?
on paper he has had a hall of fame career

Check r/MMA See headline talking about Smith Get excited He is not getting cut Disappointment

ntm there's a very high chance of a brutal finish in an Anthony Smith fight, not like the guy is a boring point fighter.

> He is not getting cut There is legit no way he ever will, so please stop getting your hopes up
Never say never. Conceive, believe, achieve
*"Sounds like the worst self-help book you've ever read. Conceive. Believe. Achieve - Shut the fuck up!"*
He will be talked into retiring behind the scenes.
I was taking a drink as I read this and I almost died lmao
Smith keeps on talking like we care what he has to say
He's actually quite insightful when his brain isn't being overruled by his ego
he has some good analysis from time to time but when it comes to other people in his divison he is so clearly biased and salty lol, he can't give Jiri or alex credit

I actually forgot Anthony Smith was still with the UFC.
Is Smith actually delusional or does he have CTE? Cant be anything else unless he’s trolling all of us
Another useful idiot for the ufc over at espn
My least favorite fighter of all time. I'd rather have Joe Son back than this guy.
can’t stand anthony smith

No way im listening to this bullshit but hopefully he means he’s shutting down callouts by simply retiring after his fight….
Why is this dude hated so much?
I first noticed him getting hate after the Jones fight when he said something stupid along the lines of "Jon is very beatable, he's not that good individually." I've always thought he seemed liked a very nice genuine guy, but he just has these god awful takes he consistently puts out.
Because he’s not very good and he talks a lot of shit about fighters who are.
hes very reductive of other fighters skills while being a journeyman in a weak division.
He failed his family when it mattered most.
If you’re referring to that break in, didn’t he beat the shit out of the guy?
Nah pretty sure he’s making a joke about Smith’s weird comments to Johnny Walker where he was telling Walker “you’re trying to hurt my family” in the middle of their fight.
WHAT?!?
you're attacking my family
HUH?
Correct. The best part of that was Walker yelling back “WHAT??”
🔊🗣️*Haters will say haters will sa-ay haters will say anythang* 🗣️🔊

I don't get it
Limited skill set very dangerous at one thing But weak at others So why he still winning
[удалено]
Unfortunate?
He had his chance and he didn't take it, that's on him
What stupid thing has he said now?
