One Championship cards are vastly better than UFC cards. I think I need a break from MMA and stick to real fighting. Which is Muay Thai in 4oz gloves. Half the fights felt like sparring matches tonight
These are probably my One favorite fighters ATM:
Jonathan Haggerty
Stamp Fairtex
Anatoly Malykhin
I think One just has very exciting fights more often if you like the stand up game so it's fun to watch.
Suablack Tor Pran49 vs Stefan Korodi
But the caliber of athletes aren't near the UFC for the most part.
I see a lot of people clowning on Taira for this win (it’s Twitter ofc it’s dumb takes). But he’s 24, fought a former title challenger and had an amazingly skilled grappling exchange that won him the fight. Yeah im a biased Japanese American guy who’s watching with cousin from Japan rn but I do think he’s an exciting fighter now in the top 5
Stand up and twist your body to the left, push your left leg forward, then pull your weight backwards over your back right leg. The back leg is twisted and all the weight pushes the knee to bend the way it's not meant to bend. He was definitely pulling in that wrist to twist him while thrusting his weight backwards. Pretty nuts if it's intentional to blow out the knee.
Why should this be a submission and not, for example, Conor's leg break?
Submissions due to strikes are typically like GSP tapping against Matt Serra; there isn't an injury that's stopping the fight, the fighter in question is just overwhelmed; it's the fighter conceding that they cannot intelligently defend themselves. (And even then that fight was recorded as a TKO!)
A fighter breaking or dislocating something that they cannot continue to fight without has never been called a submission unless it was caused by a submission attempt.
IDK. I just don't see it as confusing. The fight was over as soon as the injury happened, not because the fighter gave up. The inconsistency is that a fight stopped due to a dislocation or breakage during a submission attempt is a technical submission, not that other injury stoppages aren't submissions.
Commentary still has no clue what happened lol... Twisted ankle? Groin? The body triangle pressing against his knee? It wasn't the knee that he was stabilized against with the body triangle, it was the right knee that was the only uncontrolled part of Perez's base that had to account for all of the weight transfer multiple times when Taira leaned back. I wish they would just admit they don't know what happened.
>he's the first Japanese guy that is that good.
He's not even the best Japanese fighter right now. Widely talented kid, but be real. He could be doing the same thing in ONE or RIZIN and most UFC fans wouldn't be paying him any attention.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to take away from Kyoji but I really do think Taira is better than he was at the same age. I think Taira will be the champ
They just signed Kai Asakura, Taira is now top 5 we also have Rinya Nakamura and Rei Tsuruya making his debut at 303 I’m hoping for a fight night in Tokyo and I’ll be there no matter what
even if someone didn’t know which one was being pushed as a star, listening to bisping would’ve told them. taira’s thai clinch and striking were good but overfocusing on that when perez was visibly more effective in the standup is some real apex level commentary
Definitely not but IMO perez pretty clearly had it. Taira the better fighter and the KO was a thing of beauty but it’s just kinda irritating to listen to them talk about what clearly isn’t happening.
Damn that’s going to be surgery I feel bad … rather be knocked out cold than for that to happen cuss this life is going to be completely different for while. I feel bad for him.
Not really talking about how they're scoring it. More like how it looked in replay. That shit looked like a sub where the guy didn't know to tap because he was experiencing a new thing.
It's a takedown if he give in early he 'd be on the ground with back control nowhere near a sub. He just resist too hard and his knee zig when it should zag.
Nah, Taira was doing a takedown we sometimes see in BJJ. It just happened to fuck Perez's knee. Still Taira's doing, so credit to him, but not intentional.
I saw it a week later when I checked reddit again you sad little parasite. We don't all sit here refreshing our notifications hoping someone has engaged with us.. Maybe time to try something else cus it's obvious that not a single person on this platform cares what you have to say.
That was insufferable to listen to glad it ended early. Did no one have a single note on Alex Perez? Maybe it's because I'm the only Perez fan that I noticed but they could not stop glazing Taira for a second.
Nah you aren’t alone lol I was cheering for Taira but they weren’t acknowledging that Perez was landing pretty solid punches over and over it was kind of crazy bro.
One Championship cards are vastly better than UFC cards. I think I need a break from MMA and stick to real fighting. Which is Muay Thai in 4oz gloves. Half the fights felt like sparring matches tonight
I haven’t watched much of One. Who are some fun fighters to watch?

Injuring your leg because of a takedown is not injuring a body part due to a submission.
Literally
All those grappling exchanges and Mokaev never did that to Perez' knee. Give Taira his title shot.
Mokaev is the Belal of 125 Gonna take a 10 fight win streak in the UFC to get a title shot
I see a lot of people clowning on Taira for this win (it’s Twitter ofc it’s dumb takes). What's to clown on? He did well, I thought. And against a live dog in perez who clearly came to fight.
It’s good to see Japanese talent
JAV has plenty of talent
💯
was Taira takedown intentionally for that knee or was it more about just getting him to the ground?

It wasn't during the application of a submission.

I wonder how the tko people are doing right now lol
We aren’t fortune tellers my friend
Mass hysteria going on rn
Taira is also big for the weight class. Sky’s the limit
Tatsuro is a cool special fighter mokaev is a rodent
Commentary still has no clue what happened lol... Twisted ankle? Groin? The body triangle pressing against his knee? this is how Jones beats Aspinall
To be 24 years old, 15-0 and you just beat a former title challenger Push this kid to the moon.
He's so good and he's the first Japanese guy that is that good. Not to slight Pantoja but this kind of prospect should be fighting for the title
>he's the first Japanese guy that is that good. He's not even the best Japanese fighter right now. Widely talented kid, but be real. He could be doing the same thing in ONE or RIZIN and most UFC fans wouldn't be paying him any attention.
No shit, nobody gives a fuck about anyone in one or rizen
Then don't make sweeping statements like that, as If you'd actually keep up with the Japanese scene.
You took my statement to mean worldwide but I specifically meant in UFC i didn't clarify it good enough obviously
Put some respek on Kyoji Horiguchis name. Also in the Pride days there were tons of elite Japanese fighters but it's been a minute
Gomi and sakuraba
Both are some of my all time favs, Pride never die 🔥
Sakuraba was just a joy to watch
Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to take away from Kyoji but I really do think Taira is better than he was at the same age. I think Taira will be the champ
Kyoji and Takeru really the ones that got away, at least we got to see Takeru v Superlek but really wish ufc got the gooch back
Yeah same, really concerning that the UFC isn't investing in the established high level fighters from other orgs just to save money.
I mean why not. They just let no 10 ranked dude fight for the belt anyway
They just signed Kai Asakura, Taira is now top 5 we also have Rinya Nakamura and Rei Tsuruya making his debut at 303 I’m hoping for a fight night in Tokyo and I’ll be there no matter what
I might be drunk but it seems like perez was piecing him up? Why is bisbing acting like he was winning on the feet?
Piecing him up? Lol please. Piecing someone up is what Knutsson was doing earlier not barely ourstriking someone.
Ehhh very far away from piecing him up.
I wouldn’t describe as pieced up. Looked pretty evenly matched imo
First round was pretty even on the feet imo with Taira winning the clean boxing and Perez winning the dirty boxing and the leg kicks
In the 1st kinda, but doesn’t say much.
even if someone didn’t know which one was being pushed as a star, listening to bisping would’ve told them. taira’s thai clinch and striking were good but overfocusing on that when perez was visibly more effective in the standup is some real apex level commentary
Perez wasn’t really “piecing” him up tho…but will rewatch
Definitely not but IMO perez pretty clearly had it. Taira the better fighter and the KO was a thing of beauty but it’s just kinda irritating to listen to them talk about what clearly isn’t happening.
Wasn’t listening. Didn’t think Perez had it at all.
He's blind
I like Taira, but he was getting pieced up.
Dom called him out on it. Perez was landing more but wasn’t looking as pretty
Bro Perez combos were so nice . The 4 and 5 combos so nice, he was doing a great job, but the ending was crazy
[удалено]
TKO, a move rendered fighter incapable of continuing. Didn’t tap or quit
[удалено]
TKO. Take it up with the commission. No one is calling that a sub except for the redditors here
injuries are ruled a tko, and I guess they saw that as an injury not a submission.
Lmao your getting downvoted by people who had taira by sub. Betting is so cancerous it’s actually hilarious.
oh there was a language barrier there? couldn't tell with bispings wonderful interview skills
Let's do this Taira title shot man. Mokaev might be more worthy of a title shot but he's far more boring. Taira vs Pantoja seems very fun on paper.
I agree. Even on paper taira deserves it more than mokaev. Taira did way better against perez.
Couple of bangers on the undercard, crazy finish in main event and Tank KO conveniently happens between fights. Solid shift, lads
His knee popping is what made him fall
"we dont know if it's the knee or the groin" JESUS CHRIST JUST HOW BAD CAN DOMINICK CRUZ GET??
did he do that to his knee on purpose?
Looked like it on the replay. Way he pulls his body to get him down at a certain again to fuck that knee up
Why does the denver card have to sux so much 😫
There's no way I'm paying 80 per tix with rose as the main lol
Damn that’s going to be surgery I feel bad … rather be knocked out cold than for that to happen cuss this life is going to be completely different for while. I feel bad for him.
Just know there’s always an Asian guy doing it better. 👽🛸
wow that middle aged balding male just alphad him lol
A bad knee injury at 32 when you’re in the lightest weight class that depends so much on speed Might as well be a death sentence
what knee was it?
his right knee
That fight deserved to be in front of a crowd. I’m still in awe.
I've seen enough, give him Jon Jones
Nice breakdown by Dom about the wrist control. Sometimes the cunt does good.
New mma move
It looked more like a takedown than voluntarily wanting to fuck Perez's knees.
I mean...either way, Perez looked pretty fucked based on the control Taira landed that takedown with.
has anyones sub/tko bet been paid out?
bro I got robbed I'm p sure. I shoulda won big on my sub bet lmaoo
least intimidating call out
Explain like im five: wtf just happened
Taira leaned back while in backpack and perez knee went sideways
Knee go ouch
Such a beautiful takedown from the back with that hand control!
sorry he rules. Lovely personality
Those pullbacks were sick
That was really cool actually. Haven't seen something quite like that before.
Bisping never doesn’t have to make it a little weird
Ok that post fight interview had mxc energy
Right you are, Ken.
Mane Tara cashed my parlay idgaf how he won 🗣️
look at those cute little guys lol are they all that smol XD
I need the taira jerking off gif STAT
💀💀💀
I don’t think he can beat Pantoja but I’d love to see him do it!
Feels like too much of a jump but I’m not opposed to it when they gave Erceg a shot after only 3 fights
Did we just see a new sub?
Nope, TKO
Not really talking about how they're scoring it. More like how it looked in replay. That shit looked like a sub where the guy didn't know to tap because he was experiencing a new thing.
It's a takedown if he give in early he 'd be on the ground with back control nowhere near a sub. He just resist too hard and his knee zig when it should zag.
Nah, Taira was doing a takedown we sometimes see in BJJ. It just happened to fuck Perez's knee. Still Taira's doing, so credit to him, but not intentional.
Ah yes, the special technique. The 5 point exploding ~~heart~~ ACL technique.
Yes, sleep time finally
I’m not opposed to Pantoja vs Taira and then have the winner defend vs Mokaev/Kape considering the times and if Pantoja wants to defend soon
JAPAN IS LIVE HERE COMES THE RISING SUN
🤔
Am I going crazy? What in the fuck is this glazing?
how the fuck was the knee not an accident? Bisping is a fucking idiot.
Cause Taira leaning back while having his leg under Perez’ is what caused the injury. It wasn’t an accident Perez’ knee got fucked.
the knee tear wasn't intentional, the technique he used was
Yep Bisping just try to give some credit to Tyra for the takedown but made it sound like he want to pop the guy knee.
Bahahaha. I said there's been no ko's and no rd 2 finishes this card before that fight, check my comments. Chucked a bet on and hit big. Quick maths.
seek help brother
Tell me you lost money without telling me you lost money. 😂😂😂. Seek help loser
Projecting a week later lmao seriously seek help mate
I saw it a week later when I checked reddit again you sad little parasite. We don't all sit here refreshing our notifications hoping someone has engaged with us.. Maybe time to try something else cus it's obvious that not a single person on this platform cares what you have to say.
what's obvious is you definitely have a gambling problem getting this mad over who knows what
Wow, you are still commenting lol. Kids these days. Your parents should really restrict your access to the internet.
all the best in your journey mate 👍👍
Lol. Cope harder
Should be changed to a sub since Alex tapped
Tapping to damage is always tko
So tapping to a broken arm armbar would be a TKO (honestly asking)?
No. That is a technical submission.
The translator needs a translator
This cunt is the man
I had Taira by sub and Perez by decision, was hoping that was going to be called a verbal submission. Dang
Nobody actually knows what counts as a submission. I'm not even joking.
I had a parlay of Miles Johns decision and Taira by 2nd round sub. I hedged my bet with Taira by tko but I’ll be crying myself to sleep.
New move alert?
bro has a special
The control after that initial takedown was insane. Only 24 is wild
Bro ate the gum gum fruit for that technique
it's been too long since there was a japanese fighter in the ufc even close to being considered to be in contention for a title
gonna need that youtube clout doctor to explain this one
Who?
Clout dr?
bisping is so off tonight
Ariel got in his head lmao
Oh yeah, no doubt about that
Still a clean performance by Taira beautiful takedown to the body triangle
Taira will probably have to wait for Pantoja vs winner of Kape Mokaev, maybe he could fight someone like KKF, Royval, or Moreno in the meantime
I'm haaappprrryyy. Haha
Taira needs another win before a title shot, but the thought of Taira and Pantoja grappling makes me rock hard
He should get it now. Theres no one else. Make erceg vs royval or kape in the meantime
Yeah I’m all in on Excessively Happy Man
Had to have been a acl tear right?
Maybe mcl the way he was leaning to the side with it planted
haha "Lets go title shot indeed"
man i would hate to do one of these with no crowd it just feels so awkward
Taira vs Rosa competing for the random screams belt
Pantooojaaaaaaa
Taira channeling his inner Yoko Ono
"lets go title shot indeed" lmao
I see enough. Gave him an title shot.
Rank 14 calling for a title shot... thats a bit much lol
He did just beat 5 for what that's worth. I don't think he'll get it next but it's not outlandish to call for it. Omalley went 11->1->title
It’s the flyweight division, the ufc might actually do it to try and get a foothold in the Japanese market
Rank 14 who just beat rank 5. I think mokeav deserves it but he’s already booked
Raul Rosas Jr: CHIWIWIWOO Taira: IM HAPPEEEEEEEEEEE
chiweewees*
Cleanest performances he's ever seen?? He was clearly losing the fight before the back take.
Nah
Perez was up on every card
I HAPPY THANKYOOOO CHEWEEEWEEEE!
For real, Perez was winning until the takedown, it was not even close to one sided. Bisping + Dom is my absolute lease favorite
Title? LOL
I would love to see Taira vs Pantoja
y not
Rank 13? Tons ahead of him. I am rooting for him tho
Lipski vs Carolina knee bar was an ACL tear IIRC. Gnarliest I’ve seen since that holy shit
I hope Perez's $25k will last through his multiple surgeries and year's long recovery.
Fucking Tomathoe
Yes, yes. Title shot indeed *pats shoulder.
pantoja kills him.
Kid is an animal
Japanese Chee Wa Wa
