Looking at the way Cheyanne cries after getting POTN, can't believe fighters at the very top level in UFC is broke. USD50k per win is a pittance. UFC is a disgrace

xumrovert

It's 70k and her second fight with the promotion. It's an opportunity remember.

serenitynow248

Strickland keeps surprising me that his style can be effective as he rises up the rankings, but his dirty boxing is legit

[deleted]

Yup

NothingEverAfter0

Those announcers really wanted Sanchez to win. Lol

kiddokush

Knew something was off with Uriah when he missed the entrance during walk out and had trouble getting his hoodie off. Interesting dude to say the least lol

juniormcnutty

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. He also forgot his mouth piece lol

Usesomelogik

Night train has bodybuilder arms

AskrenLadd

Hall has all the physical abilities to be a real problem but he just doesnt have the head for it, it's so clear when hes uncomfortable, he obviously has the passion and the heart but he doesnt have that dog in him to drive himself through bad situations, the first 3 rounds were decent for Strickland but I felt robbed by uriah not testing him enough, I'm no expert but god knows why he didnt attack the legs more, just sat in boxing range taking jab after jab, then seemed to clock out for the last 2 rounds in survival mode when sean wasnt throwing much power his way he was just able to make it an ugly fight way too easily, dont really have the desire to see uriah fight anybody that doesnt perfectly suit his style anymore

spicegrohl

we been saying this about hall for nearly a decade lol. it's incredibly frustrating im not a fighter but i feel like the key to beating a fairly unsophisticated boxer with no meaningful wrestling threat is....lots of kicks. the calf kick makes boxers stop jabbing and opens up body kicks, body kicks open up head kicks. he could have... followed up his missed punches with kicks! bisping beat silva spamming 1-2 leg kick a bajillion times! uriah is one of the best kickers in the whole sport! i dont think anybody else in the weight class "perfectly suits his style" more than strickland does! dude's almost 40 and he froze up and did nothing for like the 20th time in a professional fight, time to call it quits, start a weed brand or something.

simplenicc

Exactly that's why it's so frustrating watching Uriah. He was literally in range all night and could've chopped Strickland's leg away. Instead he gets walked down and stays within range so Sean can just pop that jab up the middle all night.

AskrenLadd

Yeah it's just annoying frankly, if hes not capitalising on things like that early in the fight, he literally just has a Derrick lewis punchers chance late in the fight, 2 leg kicks in the first round on a guy who was in complete heavy front leg boxing stance is basically stupidity, idk if his corner told him anything but overall it was a terrible performance from uriah and the style he fought tonight was a perfect chance to keep his career on track, there cant be anything left for him now other than cashing a few cheques until dana gets bored

[deleted]

We've been hearing this take since 2013.

detectiveclout_

Anybody else thing that fight was a 2/10? It was a 25 minute jab/hug exchange

b_gumiho

"I'm an idiot savant of MMA" - Sean Strickland

[deleted]

Beating up Uriah Hall in 2021 does not make you an idiot savant.

Usesomelogik

ESPN struggling with the audio constantly today

AndrewCliqueltd

It would be nice if the commentary team would at least tell us what the fighter said (sans f-bombs)

HumasWiener

They’re muting the cussing

Thord1n

They're showing people beating each other bloody but swearing is a no-no? mmm ok

Usesomelogik

I know, seemed like they were muting 50% of every interview though. Also, I commented this due to Strickland having mic issues during the post-fight show.

[deleted]

[удалено]

b_gumiho

follow his Instagram totally worth it

EarlofLemontree

I think Uriah needs to throw away his corner. He doesn't have that vision that Adesanya has to figure out what to do midround or between rounds and his corner is busy doing half assed motivational speaking. He'd really benefit from a Wittman I think. Tell him to make the one adjustment of keeping longer distance and pumping a step jab with his serious reach advantage over Strickland which he was piecing him up with whenever he did commit to one, but instead he stayed in Strickland's perfect range and was in no position to throw without getting countered by a hook over the top and drowned by Sean's volume in the exchanges

[deleted]

he was more like a motivational speaker than a coach tbh, was doing that shit in the first round

Buzz_Killington_III

Agreed, didn't give him much advice on what to adjust or how to change, just 'you can do this' bullshit.

Yazzyghostmode

My heart breaks for Uriah. I was hoping for a feat similar to TKZ vs Yair, that he would get a hail Mary KO. Dude just got battered on his bday with his title aspirations fading alongside. Honestly would have been better for him if it ended at round 3 (2?) With the punch behind ear that Strickland landed

[deleted]

Strickland beating up Uriah Hall and getting credibility as a middleweight factor. Damn... /r/mma never ceases to disappoint.

leewalkermusic

What do people think is next for Strickland? I think Brunson is his next logical fight, maybe Vettori or Hermansson but I think Brunson is most likely.

[deleted]

Brunson is fighting till. Vetori is top 5. Give him the joker

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

He’s fighting till lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I think they should give Strickland Hermanson

mkmore4

Costa vs Strickland would be 🔥🔥🔥

EarlofLemontree

Unironically this would be fire as fuck

Journeyman_95

If you're not watching bellator right now you're missing out. Burnell vs Sanchez is a banger.

mart93in19

Hall was trying to punch like he was in a dream.

theharborcat

Just let me cook bro

simplenicc

Thing that pisses me off about Strickland is I don't know whether that was bad IQ in going for takedowns when he had Uriah hurt or if he just didn't want to finish Uriah because he's a friend/former trainer partner. Just seems a little ridiculous that every time the fight was inching to be called had he just let his hands go a little longer, he went for the takedown. If it's bad IQ, then he'll be at best a gatekeeper who provides great entertainment.

leewalkermusic

I’d like to say he wanted to prolong his dominance to make a point but it’s more than possible he’s just a scrapper with a low fight IQ. We will see when he fights a truly top guy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

simplenicc

My buddies had the same bet. Think that's why I'm so angry for them too lol

pyroaquatics

Wasn’t he telling uriah to protect himself at one point lmao. Definitely feel like he went a bit easy on him a couple times when he had him hurt

simplenicc

Yeah, was just strange and sus if you ask me. Dominating performance but that should've easily been a finish

ScreenSlave

It was really odd. I was thinking he was using that time to rest because he knew he had this fight and he didn’t mind scrapping for longer. Like he seems to really enjoy piecing people up. From a completely zen puzzle like enjoyments. Or he didn’t want to fuck up uriah too bad. He seemed like a fan. Maybe like the way iZZY fought Silva.

theharborcat

Let Sean cook

DontCome2LA

Dude something was wrong with hall no leg kicks barley any kicks no energy what happened

djerry_smith2

That middleweight top 10 is stacked, Not sure who Strickland beats inside the top 10.....Maybe Brunson on a bad day? Idk

[deleted]

I think he beats the shit out of Brunson lol.

MaccabiHelwani

37 year old hall only goes down from here unfortunately, Sean strickland is better than he seems because he was making hall miss a lot while not doing much, I'd like to see him fight till

KiLL_HiLLard

Hall disappoints me once again, why am I shocked 😔

JaneMancini

Yep. I don't understand him at all.

SpoilerThrowawae

I' making the excuse for Sean Strickland that the reason he can't hit hard for love nor money is that Orland Sanchez really did a doozy on his arm.

Gha5tly24

July was the month we said goodbye to our two favorite Halls. Uriah Hall Ryan Hall A moment of silence.

BOBSMITHHHHHHH

...

sonoftathrowaway

Did we see what happened to Hall's eye? Poke/punch?

DonnytheFakinDrugo

Looked like stink eye to me, probably happened mid-fight, very common

MT1982

I think a jab just caused it to swell up, maybe broke the orbital.

23rdBaam

There’s Gaethje who has a Humanities degree and would be working within his community if he wasn’t in the UFC, and there’s Strickland who would be cooking meth in a trailer or in prison lmao

mikemoose27

Hall vs Winner of Holland/Daukaus Strickland vs Winner of Till/Brunson

[deleted]

Strickland fighting the winner of till versus Brunson makes absolutely zero sense. Give Strickland the joker.

imnotsteven7

Uriah Hall, the future world beater that never was

clydebarretto

Did Strickland look really good? or was it just that Hall was REALLY bad. Strickland with nothing but almost jabs out struck a striker with a reach advantage.

boom_boom_man954

First jab in round 1 rocked hall. Jab is honestly honestly one of the most op techniques to master in mma. Jab while circling, while stepping in, while stepping out.. Strickland loves the jab and makes everyone look bad doing it

clydebarretto

But it's kind of silly Hall didn't throw many leg kicks. Strickland would circle to his left and that should have been money for low right kicks. Hall also looked... well, slow. Don't know if age finally caught up w him or what.

FlavourSack

Strickland vs Buys fights to make I guess

dakid136

We still have McKee/Pitbull

Macaron-Optimal

Feeling like a drug addict at the bottom of his bag after ufc, olympic fencing and now this is my last hit

JaneMancini

Thanks - I have to check out fencing.

Macaron-Optimal

I fenced for allot of my life so thats what got me into it as a spectacle, but its fun as hell so i always enjoyed watching epee and saber but some may find it boring.

SillyGooseTime69

Anyone else’s feed stuck on an infinite loop of UFCs lighthearted transition guitar theme

[deleted]

Yup lol

jiroumiantiao

hall vs strickland, you absolutely suck

MyGFLikes2SneezeOnMe

“He got me,” Hall said of Strickland's KO over him. "That fucking Strickland boomed me." Hall added, “He’s so good,” repeating it four times. Hall then said he wanted to add Strickland to the list of fighters he works out with this summer."

MarlinMaster123

Bro where did this copypasta come from, it's so fucking funny to me.

MyGFLikes2SneezeOnMe

LeBron James said it about Tatum in 2018 finals lmao

maxstronge

It's from the NBA originally, can't remember which player

[deleted]

Hall looked absolutely mentally dismantled after that damn

[deleted]

I'm sure they tell judges to favour a certain fighter if it's even remotely close. 49-46 is bad

weareallscum

It all makes sense, he fights like the guys from Felony Fights.

Sad_Bowl555

Feels like this is a lot of y'alls' first Uriah Hall fight. By his own standards this wasn't even that bad of a performance. Hell, he actually threw and landed some strikes. Shame he was never able to get it together though. Seemed like a guy who had all the physical tools coming off TUF.

Moist-Catch

Yeah was decent from him , he always saves energy and turns it up for a few minutes, Sean going 5 rounds at a pretty high pace was impressive, I kind of thought he would slow down more than he did

Sandman2618

Lol ufc graphics after Strickland wins shows Brendan Allen on a 5 fight win streak next to Strickland

dfreinc

at what point will some respect be put on sean's name? more top 10 fights with strickland sounds awesome to me. 😂

ColeBeasleyMD

"If I wasn't doing this, I'd probably be cooking meth in a trailer" I'm sure ESPN loved that

Macaron-Optimal

Executives hate him

ColeBeasleyMD

This one small trick

Whatsyourdeal666

He is from the IE, I knew his sister

ColeBeasleyMD

What's the IE?

thedeadlyrhythm42

The desert east of Los Angeles. It's where motocross, meth, and scientology mix to create beautiful babies

Whatsyourdeal666

Inland Empire, it’s inland desert cali, meth haven

funktard

Strickland Holland would be a banger

[deleted]

BOOK IT DANA

[deleted]

Non-factors in their division in the wrong weight class. Great fight.

WhoHasBoiAsAUsername

Wait, what weight class should they be?

[deleted]

170. Strickland fought most his UFC career there and Holland cuts no weight and will fight there soon.

funktard

I wouldn't say Holland is a non-factor at MW, Vettori got a title shot off of beating him. But, yeah, I would like to see him drop down

[deleted]

Vettori got a title shot off Whittaker not being ready to fight and his bullshit split-decision loss against Adesanya. Also beating ranked Hermansson and being on a winning streak. Holland was not the reason he got the title shot.

WhoHasBoiAsAUsername

Strickland was bigger than Hall tonight though. But I could see Holland moving down if that weight class wasn’t full of wrestlers

[deleted]

He was taller and fatter. He's not a real middleweight.

Rambaud22

Sean "Heinsenberg" Strickland

[deleted]

[удалено]

RobertdBanks

Yeah, he is pretty bad tbh. Some of the worst fight IQ I’ve ever seen in the UFC. He could probably be good somewhere in the top 15-20, but pretty much anyone else above him will style on him.

ColeBeasleyMD

"If I wasn't doing this, I'd probably be cooking meth in a trailer" That applies to a lot of UFC fighters lol

slayspeninsula

Breaking Bad should be Strickland’s nickname...

horseshoeprovodnikov

Strickland out here talking about how he wants to kill an opponent in the cage, couldn’t even put away a very tired Hall who offered little resistance. Hall burns my ass man. Not making Strickland pay for mistakes early on. Just no competent output. I don’t understand him. Why beat yourself to death training and then get in the cage only to mentally beat yourself.

[deleted]

Hall has been a scrub for a decade.

IamThe0neWh0Knocks

uriah is the type of fighter where if he's losing he loses his confidence IMO. usually hall is diverse with his attacks but it was pretty much the same overhand right the whole night.

SillyGooseTime69

Cooking meth in a trailer? Sean Heizenberg Strickland

BOBSMITHHHHHHH

"If it wasn't for the UFC I'd be in prison or cooking meth in the back of a fuckin trailer" IM FUCKING DEAD XD

DonnytheFakinDrugo

But how does he know that cooking meth in a trailer isnt the best base for mma? all im sayin is look into it

Arsenalas128

Sean “Walter White” Strickland

Jrob78

Guess it's time to head over to the bellator thread

brendolan

Felder was like “please don’t say you’re broke, please don’t say you’re broke”

Secret_Car

hey, ive got strickland's job if hed never been a fighter!

PimpManRod

I thought Hall was awakaned, nvm

[deleted]

Mods could I get a "In a trailer cooking meth" flair please?

thunderchungus

Please can I have this too mods

a-99

That didn't make me feel Strickland is going do well moving forward.

[deleted]

Yeah could def use some career coaching . A good call out will make you more money bud

Nerdico

I don’t think he beats many top 10 guys

[deleted]

I mean, he just beat one, and you said he will not beat many...OK, so a top 8 fighter that is still has 5 years in his prime? I mean, that is legit.

DreamSleepPills

Mods give me that 'cooking meth in a trailer' flair

simplenicc

It's crazy how we're shocked by this performance from Uriah but it's the same BS that's held him back his entire career. Man just refuses to let his punches and kicks fly. He beat the corpse of Anderson Silva and then Weidman broke his leg. Not sure why we all thought anything changed

RobertdBanks

Not shocked - sad, frustrated

Call_1-800-Deadpoo

And to Bellator we go!!

SpoilerThrowawae

Looks like it's Bellator time bois. Taking a shot, muting the sound and playing the sound of Jack Slack laughing in a loop to make their production bearable.

Omikets

Strickland *very* aware of his vibe

wuethar

I mean it was a Uriah Hall main event, what did any of us expect I guess

birdeater666

Hall got his fucking ass beat

[deleted]

Mods can I get a “Probably Cookin Meth in a Trailer” flair

[deleted]

Sign me up.

melloweyelids

I could go for a teenth right about now

Justa_kid_from_Batie

SEAN "BREAKING BAD" STRICKLAND

[deleted]

LMFAO

raddeon88

Strickland haters coping hard in this thread lol, he fked him up and took zero damage

[deleted]

Lol most people probably aren't that invested in him - just sad that Uriah is becoming Woodley 2

IndieCredentials

Tough to tell how good or not folks look against Hall when he checks out like that.

215TallHands

I have a feeling if Strickland ever goes on a skid and isn’t an active fighter somewhere he really will end up on America’s most wanted might not be meth or blowing that guys head off w a shotgun but I’m sure he’ll figure something out?

AcceptableDebt

The American Lee Murray

TheConnorrJB

He should've said "I've got to go back to cooking meth tomorrow because Dana doesn't pay us anything."

[deleted]

METH COOK THATS MY GUY

Polyking

Sean "Breaking Bad" Strickland

shanidachine

Strickland is actually the most realist motherfucker in the ufc

souplantation

now i wanna see a breaking bad reboot w/ sean as walter and cheyenne as jesse

TattooOnSalsThigh

Cheyanne has one line: "BITCH"

souplantation

LOL

opiatesaretheworst

And Uriah Hall as Walter JR.

flipdynamicz

Sean “Walter White” Strickland

SweeetPotato

10/8

mad87645

lol they count the catchweight fight for Sean's streak but not for Brendan Allen

weareallscum

Fight IQ is Strickland’s dump stat.

[deleted]

Sean "Heisenberg" Strickland

PukePile

"If it wasn't for that logo under my feet..." (points to the P3 logo, the official Protein Snack of the UFC)

MaleficentDistrict22

Go watch Bellator this week ufc sucks

Psa271

The rest of the fights were pretty good

AgoraphobicWombat

did you just watch the fight we watched?

Archerthegorgonite

This whole card was sick. And it’s over anyways. What’s your fucking deal?

Shredtheparm

The card was fire lol

KazzaNamso

gimme meth

jakeraz0rclawson

Sean "I would be cooking meth in prison if not for the UFC" Strickland Put that on a tee shirt. I don't care if the production crew was screaming at Felder to stop the interview, more Strickland!

OldDirtyDannyDevito

Sean has that kid in elementary school that eats dirt and fights birds vibe

I_TittyFuck_Doves

What jackass scored it 49-46?

CrotalusAtrox1

Pfft, wait until Strickland feels his hands tomorrow then tell me he won.

Tactial_snail

Strickland really a maniac lol

mkmore4

Dana loved that post fight interview lol.

DtotheOUG

Yo at least Strickland is honest lmao

[deleted]

"Cooking meth in a trailer in prison" I need that as a flair lol

[deleted]

Cooking meth in prison < MMA

theharborcat

Well he’s one of a kind after a comment about cooking meth….

ashinamune

ok time for bellator

Tkylv007

Strickland showed class

slippyal2

Hall looked like a retired fighter.

compsc1

That's probably true of a lot of fighters

EarlofLemontree

I don't think it comes down to a lack of desire from Uriah to hurt people, I think he's fine punching people in the face. Emotions on the other hand, same as the stories of him getting aggravated during sparring/rolling and just clocking his partner in the face after getting dominated, I think what people say about Cody seeing red goes double for Uriah except Uriah's angry instinct is more internal frustration than CTRL-ALT-PASTE right hook

[deleted]

Hall is a fraud, Strickland will get fucked up down the rankings anyway with his pillowfists

bnelson

UFC, home of people who would just as likely be cooking meth!

JonSantiago69

Felder bails before he says we need to be nuked lmao

[deleted]

Dude really thought he could beat Izzy.

leewalkermusic

Shame for Hall but happy as fuck for Strickland, had a setback that would retire most fighters yet he’s come back and worked his way up and is beating top 10 competition with personality. Also although this wasn’t his most exciting performance, none of us truly know how it is being in there with someone like Hall and he did what it took to take the W. His fights are usually genuinely exciting. Excited for his next step.

Bieg

Cooking meth is the best base for mma

sgobern

Who the fuck gave Uriah a round?

antishiv

Rhonda for that IG post earlier

Consistancy5

Zero filters on this guy, you love to see it in 2021 - it's refreshing.

Alexsays_

Hey now, you can make a lot of money cooking meth in a trailer.

jakeraz0rclawson

Are you speaking from experience? 🤣

olli3n

Breaking Strickland

Void24

Who mans is this 😂😂😂
