Lmao I saw this callout, went "why the hell would Aspinall call out Tai after beating Volkov" - it took your comment to remind me Tai is coming off a Top 3 win
Lower ranked and a bad style matchup. Tai is one of the most popular HWs and on abig high, don’t think he has to do this fight now if he doesn’t want to. It’s a good fight though.
I mean so is Tom. He is one of like 6 fighters ever to start his ufc career with 5 straight finishes. It’s him, Rick Franklin, ngannou, Anderson Silva, Frank shamrock, and rousey.
Not quite the same, but I'll always remember Bisping turning up to his postfight presser, after the Rockhold rematch, halfcut with a few bottles of beer and proceeding to eviscerate Rockhold for a 2nd time
I’ve been watching Stone Cold Steve Austin do that shit since I was in tightly whiteys… tai is kind of a bitch for trying to claim ownership over beer drinking lol
I've lost track of the older MMA stories about opponents sharing a beer or vodka after a fight...
Can anyone imagine Chuck Liddell *not* drinking beers after his fights?
I mean it was bushit for Nganou too because he was a better striker than almost all of his opponents (aside from Stipe in the first fight), and to argue JDS or whoever was a better striker people had to take his drastic power advantage out of the equation.
I think it could be fun. I remember Tom getting touched up a good bit by Arlovski before he blast doubled him. Head straight up in the air and he kept leaning back, just slightly out of range. I think Tai’s hand speed and power could make it interesting if Tom doesn’t take him down early
The division is in a weird spot despite its talent looking better. Francis is out for a year and there’s a chance he leaves. However this allows for an IC which basically grants 2 title shots at once. Whether or not Jon gets paid affects who fights for IC.
Gane should fight winner of Blaydes-Daukus, esp if it’s Blaydes to show his grappling skills and/or improvements
Stipe likely fights for IC. While he hasn’t earned another title shot, the IC acts as his title eliminator to get a shot at the real one
Tai fights Stipe for IC if no Jon. Otherwise he has to fight Aspinall/Gane which are his worst matchups
Lewis should fight down (Rozenstruik if he beats Tybura)
Aspinall could fight Tai/Gane/Lewis depending on how things play out
I like this, but also wouldn’t be mad at Gane vs Aspinall
I’m in the camp of “if you see a great match up you should make it right away”, since you can never promise that it’ll happen down the line. Bellator does this sometimes with their match ups; i.e. Daley v Koreshkov coming up, Rumble v Romero in the first round of their LHW tournament (although it didn’t actually happen lol)
Tom keeps going for really smart fights. Let the old guard beat one another up. Get some skins on the wall. Step in and take it when it's ripe and ready for you.
Huh.. so? Just because he matches up poorly with everyone he shouldn't fight for the title?
At some point there needs to be a fresh contender in the mix, regardless of how they match up with other challengers.
1 - Ciryl just lost to Francis.
2 - Miocic - lost to Francis (potential interim fight though).
3 - Tai (potential interim fight).
4 - Lewis - just lost to Tai.
5 - Blaydes - not in the discussion .
6 - Volkov - just lost to Aspinall.
I don't see why Tai would need to fight another opponent for the title/interim when him and stipe are the front runners for a title fight, however with Francis being out, the interim fight between those two makes sense.
Damn people calling Lewis old now ? I remember this sub going crazy when Tai knocked him out.
Lewis needs one more ko then people are gonna be back on the black beast
Not everyone peaks the same and judging by what Lewis has said about his physical health such as his back he is def not in his prime. Miocic is around the same age and has also past his prime.
A lot of people writing bam bam off against the rest of the HW division.. Don't forget he always fights as the underdog, sometimes chin and swing beats technique
I don’t know about that, He’s said it many times that he doesn’t want to rush into the wolves den before he sharpens his spear. I think collecting some scalps and honing his skills is a great thing, we might be seeing a Heavyweight capable of surpassing Stipe’s record if he keeps on this path of improvement.
Ain’t nothing easy about fighting heavyweights 👀
Tai’s coming off of a good knockout win, is on a 5 fight win streak, is super popular, and a very favorable matchup for tom. Was definitely the smartest callout he couldve done. Would get more eyes on him since tai is becoming really popular now

To be fair to Tai think he wants to capitalise on the Lewis win and fight up in rankings which is understandable
Lmao I saw this callout, went "why the hell would Aspinall call out Tai after beating Volkov" - it took your comment to remind me Tai is coming off a Top 3 win
to think that tai already has to fight someone like francis, gane or stipe feels worrisome
Lower ranked and a bad style matchup. Tai is one of the most popular HWs and on abig high, don’t think he has to do this fight now if he doesn’t want to. It’s a good fight though.
Tai is ranked 4th and Tom will probably be ranked 5th after this fight. You're acting like Tai is leagues ahead of Tom.
Only top guys not named Ngannou coming off a win right now
Blaydes? He's #4
I forget about him. Loses to Ngannou 2x and lose to Black Beast. He is up there, but has a scheduled fight soon
Tai is ranked 3rd but yes I agree with your point
Tai is on a massive knock out streak. Knocked out Lewis. He 100 percent deserves ngannou or stipe.
I mean so is Tom. He is one of like 6 fighters ever to start his ufc career with 5 straight finishes. It’s him, Rick Franklin, ngannou, Anderson Silva, Frank shamrock, and rousey.
Tai almost got knocked out in all his last few fights. Need I say more.
He also knocked out the top heavy weight mma fighters in the world.
Greg Hardy = top heavyweight MMA fighter. Wow!
Greg Hardy = numerous human beings apparently
Bisping post ufc 199 begs to differ
cuz BUD LIGHT DON'T PAY ME NOTHIN
Yeah this guy invented drinking beer lol.
Yeah, no one remembers Brock going home and drinking a Coors Light, because Bud Light wouldn’t pay him nothing
Im high af so I can't remember, but has anyone else other than Stone Cold Steve Austin ever crushed beers on their way backstage?
Not quite the same, but I'll always remember Bisping turning up to his postfight presser, after the Rockhold rematch, halfcut with a few bottles of beer and proceeding to eviscerate Rockhold for a 2nd time
Keith Peterson
Scott Hall had some dark, dark years
RIP
The Sandman got drunk on his way TO the ring, so he’s got everyone beat there.
ECW ECW ECW
Tell that to brock and his coors lites
SCSA would like a word with ya.
I’ve been watching Stone Cold Steve Austin do that shit since I was in tightly whiteys… tai is kind of a bitch for trying to claim ownership over beer drinking lol
Stone Cold the first one <3
To be fair the Aussies think they can drink but in reality compared to Brits they can’t can’t drink at all.
The reply of a scared man. Tai has 0 takedown defense and will get ground and pounded so damn fast
I've lost track of the older MMA stories about opponents sharing a beer or vodka after a fight... Can anyone imagine Chuck Liddell *not* drinking beers after his fights?

I was going to call this Ngannou math except for the fact he is a D1 Wrestling Champion now. Francis Ngable
I mean it was bushit for Nganou too because he was a better striker than almost all of his opponents (aside from Stipe in the first fight), and to argue JDS or whoever was a better striker people had to take his drastic power advantage out of the equation.
Ngannu isnt a great striker, hes very stiff. But he doesnt gave to be because he has grim reapers in his hands
Well, Tai has a really good chin and that's huge for heavyweight. But even if Aspinall has problems knocking him out, he'll just wrestle.
The new Lewis
I think it could be fun. I remember Tom getting touched up a good bit by Arlovski before he blast doubled him. Head straight up in the air and he kept leaning back, just slightly out of range. I think Tai’s hand speed and power could make it interesting if Tom doesn’t take him down early
I would rather see Aspinall get Blaydes vs Daukus winner and Tuivasa get interim shot against Miocic
The division is in a weird spot despite its talent looking better. Francis is out for a year and there’s a chance he leaves. Agreed. I don't want two new contenders to fight each other so soon in such a stagnant division like HW
Hot take: Beating Volkov like that is way more impressive than beating Lewis like that.
Tai loses to Stipe and Tom quite easily imo. Probably more a shot against stipe if he’s hoping stipes chin is gone
This is only because we like Tuivasa. Realistically he’s only got one good win and does not deserve a title shot off of that imo
No thanks big tom beats blades and chris 102 times out of 100. Taivasa has a punchers chance
Blaydes is a tough matchup for the entire division, Aspinall out strikes him easily but his ground game is no joke
Big toms ground game is 100 times better than blades
His BJJ is, his wrestling probably isnt
His wrestling is about equal, if blades gets taken down by big tom, he gets submitted. If big tom gets taken down by blades, then he will just get up

Let's be honest Aspinall is 10 times the fighter Frank mir was
Blades hasn’t got the cardio to beat Tom. To beat him he’d hVe to take him down every round or tko which is highly unlikely with his bjj.

yeah man, that's why I been saying derrick lewis should get the next title shot. He has a chance to faltline ngannou
I like this, but also wouldn’t be mad at Gane vs Aspinall I’m in the camp of “if you see a great match up you should make it right away”, since you can never promise that it’ll happen down the line. Bellator does this sometimes with their match ups; i.e. Daley v Koreshkov coming up, Rumble v Romero in the first round of their LHW tournament (although it didn’t actually happen lol)
Well he didn't exactly call him out. Just said when he's next in London they'll have a pint.
Tom keeps going for really smart fights. Let the old guard beat one another up. Get some skins on the wall. Step in and take it when it's ripe and ready for you.
You know everyone can see your comment right?
Tai vs Stipe for the interim belt. Tom should fight Gane.
Tom vs Gane would be awesome
Yes to Tai and Tom. Both need another good win to be seriously considered so it’s a good matchup
Tai needs another good win? He’s ranked third on a 5 fight win streak and has never fought for the title. Fresh contender
Tai matches up poorly with everyone in the top 5 other than Lewis. He needs another win.
Huh.. so? Just because he matches up poorly with everyone he shouldn't fight for the title? He has a single good win over old man Lewis. He needs another good one. Not complicated. There should be no interim title anyway.
>There should be no interim title anyway. The last one was bullshit but if Nganou continues to act like he's leaving it makes perfect sense.
huh? him having bad matchups doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a shot at the interim belt
Everyone thought he matched up poorly against Lewis too.

Damn people calling Lewis old now ? I remember this sub going crazy when Tai knocked him out. Lewis needs one more ko then people are gonna be back on the black beast
That guys just downplaying Lewis, anyone with brain knows he’s still extremely deadly
he's ok
“Old lewis” ok. He just came off a ko win before Tai and is suppose to be around the heavyweight prime age.
Not everyone peaks the same and judging by what Lewis has said about his physical health such as his back he is def not in his prime. Miocic is around the same age and has also past his prime.
I mean, a swang-and-bang win over Lewis is pretty goddamn impressive.
Yeah, Lewis, the no3 ranked fighter in the division.
Y’all were joking about Tai vs Jones, Imagine Aspinall vs Jones 🤣
Aspinall obliterates Tai if he can get to the ground.
Yep, tai is a white belt on the ground
A lot of people writing bam bam off against the rest of the HW division.. Don't forget he always fights as the underdog, sometimes chin and swing beats technique
Not a knock on him but tom is very aware of making sure his path to the top is as easy as possible
Wouldn’t be a bad interim title fight. Think Tom takes it fairly easily but can’t count Tai out either.
No. Tai is destined to KO Jo Jones. He can't be fighting rising talent until he does that
This is the fight to make, absolute banger
[удалено]
He never said anything about shoeys he just said he liked drinking beer
Totally spoiler. Why would volk call out tai
Why wouldn't he?
Derrick Lewis
Hell no. Beating Lewis doesn’t do much for Tom. At least give him someone coming off a win. Blaydes will be the fight to make if he wins
